Mike Ross is a Canadian announcer and broadcaster. He is the current PA announcer for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He is also news director and a host on AMI-audio. He graduated from École secondaire publique De La Salle in Ottawa and went on to study at Carleton University[1] and volunteered at CKCU, Carleton's campus radio station, where he got his first taste of doing sports on the radio. Soon after, he began working in the promotions department at Rawlco's Energy 1200 and Majic 100 in Ottawa. In 1998, 1200 AM went all sports and Ross became the morning show producer and co-host on OSR 1200. In 1999, when CHUM Limited bought Rawlco's Ottawa stations, he was moved to the afternoon drive show with Duke and the Dandyman. In 2001, CHUM launched a national sports radio network, The Team and hired him to produce the afternoon drive show from Toronto as well as serve as a general sports reporter covering the NHL, CFL, NBA and Major League Baseball.[4] In 2002, when CHUM pulled out of the national sports radio project, Ross moved over to television as an associate producer for Rogers Sportsnet. Ross joined XM Canada's "Home Ice" hockey channel when it launched in 2005 (renamed Sirius XM NHL Network Radio in 2013) [as the producer of the midday show with Jim Tatti and Gary Green. Soon thereafter, Ross became the show's back-up host and co-host who filled in for Tatti or Green. In 2008, Ross became co-host of the main afternoon show, In the Slot with Phil Esposito. From 2009 until 2015, Ross hosted Hockey This Morning along with Peter Berce and Shawn Lavigne. The show was heard weekdays from 7am to 11am. As part of a restructuring of SiriusXM Satellite Radio's NHL Network Radio channel lineup, Ross was let go on October 5, 2015 and replaced by Stellick & Simmer hosted by Gord Stellick and Rob Simpson. From February 2016 until late 2019 Ross hosted Live From Studio 5, a current affairs morning show on AMI-audio for AMI Canada. The show was simulcast on AMI-tv beginning in the fall of 2018.[8] Ross moved behind the scenes to become AMI's news director in December 2019. He continued to host as anchor of The Gazette on AMI-audio,[10] until September 2021 when he became co-anchor of AMI-audio's daily news show, The Globe and Mail Today. In February 2010, Ross was the guest PA announcer for the Ottawa Senators. Earlier in his career, he was also the stadium announcer for the Ottawa Lynx and the arena announcer for the Ottawa 67's. He was also the PA announcer for the 2015 World Junior Hockey Championships at the Air Canada Centre. Ross became the fourth public address announcer in the history of the Toronto Maple Leafs, beginning with the 2016-2017 season.

It was an absolute privilege to chat with Dom Mar KZ and he is proof that dreams do not have an expiry date. For more than two decades the Talented Toronto-area singer/ songwriter has shown a remarkable level of dedication and Perseverance to his crafts, and has never given up his desire to write, record and perform music. Dom Mar KZ came from a supportive family where his love of music and performing was nurtured from an early age. High school was where his love of music reached its full flowering as he first enrolled in the school's music program and then joined with other school pals to form bands that hashed out the chords and melodies o the latest radio sensations from Duran Duran, Van Halen, and the other pop and rock hit makers of the mid-1980s. In the 2000s, he had the good fortune of having his band, then just called Mar KZ, open for Canadian rock luminaries Def Leppard and Honeymoon Suite. Six years later (2006) he got to perform in front of a packed house opening for Bon Jovi at Toronto's Air Canada Centre, after winning a radio station contest. Less than two years later, Mar KZ was added to five dates at the end of a run through Ontario and Quebec by legendary German hard rockers, The Scorpions. Fast forward to 2016 and with the powerfully transformative experience of writing, recording and now releasing When It's Tough To Be You and Destiny, Dom Mar KZ's creative fire is burning as high and hot as it ever has, and he is focusing all his time, energy and artistry on making his musical dreams come true. Once again, it's proof that it's never too late to Rock and Roll. Fast Fast Forward to 2021 and he is soaring new heights with his hits. I'm sure you will enjoy his songs and chat as much as I did. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/neil-clark10/message

This season we are talking about the two elements of Joy: Well-being and Success. Success is the achievement of goals, whatever they are. Well-being is having a positive relationship with our abilities and our limits, whatever they are. We need to miss out on some things to get there. Some beliefs. Some habits. Some hustle. All the FOMO. DISCONNECT TO RECONNECT | A Fireside Special This week, we're releasing two special JOMOcast episodes with guests from Fireside Conference: an offline conference for techies. First up, Peter Katz. When Peter - a Juno-nominated musician - showed up for a sold-out concert in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, he'd get a job offer that would change his life forever. Instead of hustling year-round as a creator, he now spends an entire month each year unplugged from touring, from the city, from the non-stop pressure to produce, in order to invest in the lives of teens building resilience in the mountains. It was a risky choice - one that could have jeopardized his career but, instead catalyzed his career and his life. Key takeaways from our conversation: - The joy of missing out on personal gain to invest deeply in others- Letting go of predictability to embrace work that brings you LIFE- Consciously choosing to trade the noise and hustle of the city for the silence of the mountains Topics covered:- The traps of personal branding- The freedom and joy of outward focus- For communities to thrive we all need to elevate each other and we can't do that if we are isolating ourselves- It takes time to process feelings- The “wow” factor: the importance of curiosity GO DEEPERWant to experience the joy of missing out in your daily life? We'll send you playful prompts to brighten your day, expand your mind, and push you outside into the real world. We all need a little nudge. And this is not the direction I thought I would take as a singer/songwriter.” “Everything GOOD in my life is rooted in saying yes to that.” SponsorsHover has a domain name for whatever you're passionate about. “I'm grateful for the fact that I can look back at my life and I can honestly say I don't really have any regrets. If I died tomorrow, I tried to live it the best I could and having said that, still young and healthy and lots to look forward to.” – Darryl Sittler Few players in Toronto Maple Leafs history captured the imagination of hockey fans, and a place in their hearts, like number 27, Darryl Sittler. The former centre man and Captain of the Maple Leafs was born third in a family of eight children in Kingston Ontario, played his junior hockey career with the London Knights and went on to be Toronto's first choice in the 1970 Amateur Draft. Darryl embarked on a career that led him to the top of the Leafs All-Time Points and Goal Scoring List and he secured his place among the NHL's all-time greats in 1989 with his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame. He finished his career with 484 goals and 1121 points. He set an NHL single-game record that still stands by getting 10 points (six goals, four assists) in a game against the Boston Bruins in 1976. On February 8, 2003, in a touching tribute to an illustrious career, with his three grown children at his side, Darryl Sittler was honoured at a Toronto home game against the Montreal Canadiens as his banner was raised to the rafters of the Air Canada Centre. The banner not only bore his name and jersey number but as a tribute to his late wife Wendy who had died of colon cancer in 2001, hers too was inscribed. In his post-hockey career, Darryl kept his entrepreneurial spirit lit with business endeavours fueled by his long-standing philosophy to learn, prepare and work hard. He is an active Member of the Board of Directors of several publicly listed mineral exploration companies, a founding Co-Chair for ‘Have a Heart for Downs Syndrome' (HHDS) and is very supportive of several charities including Special Olympics Canada, Screen Colons Canada and Colorectal Cancer Canada. Darryl also spends time working with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Inc. in areas of Corporate Partners and in community relations. In Darryl's lifetime pursuit of good health and longevity he stays active by training, bike riding, fishing and playing golf. Together with his wife Luba, Darryl has a full family life and enjoys spending time with his children, his grandchildren as well as his friends.    Show Notes [02:07] Patrick introduces his next guest who needs little introduction for hockey fans: Darryl Sittler [04:00] Darryl and Patrick drop the puck and get underway. [04:38] After retiring from his first career in hockey, Darryl talks about the variety of things he tried, studied and undertook in his second act and how he decided on the things that were right for him. [07:38] The importance of preparation and work ethic is a philosophy Darryl adopted early which served his goal of playing in the NHL and continued to serve him in the projects he undertook post-NHL. [10:05] Darryl shares his background and experiences to provide insight into where his entrepreneurial mindset and strong work ethic originated. [14:58] Darryl's love for the game of hockey was his number one motivator to immerse himself in the sport, keep practicing and working at it every day. [17:00] Identity shift: Darryl articulates his feelings of playing NHL level hockey, the ups and downs, comraderies, spontaneity and adrenaline, and then how he managed the shift after retiring. Long-term thinking, setting goals and engaging in alternative activities all kept (and keeps) his energy lit. [21:15] Two essential attributes that Darryl learned both as a kid and coming up in the NHL: respect and humility. [24:34] In keeping with humility, Darryl recounts a moving story of meeting Terry Fox, the everlasting impact it has had on him, and the opportunity we all have to make a difference. Big or small it all matters. [29:26] Darryl's talks about his boundaries and commitment when his integrity is tested.
