On this week's edition of the podcast, it's more interviews from The Diamond in Richmond (which means a little more noise in the dugout, BP music on the loud speakers, Will Clark hooting and hollering, etc), but the end result is well worth it. First up, Richmond Pitching Coach Paul Oseguera talks about the performance of his staff, as well as the development elements that the Giants are looking for from their pitching prospects. We also talk a little about how technology has changed the way coaches can help their players. Next up, Richmond 3b and outfielder Carter Aldrete talks about trying to improve his game everyday, the search for consistency, and why he no longer likes to think of himself as having a defensive position. Aldrete is off to an excellent start and could be the next guy moving up in what has been a real tidal wave of player movement this year.If you like There R Giants podcast, you might also enjoy becoming a subscriber to the website, for daily content from around the Giants' farm system all through the minor league season.Intro/Outro: “Every Day I Write the Book” by Elvis Costello Get full access to There R Giants at rogermunter.substack.com/subscribe

Over the years, the city has cultivated its bonds with Mexico through business, political, and cultural interactions. This has given rise to a special relationship, which is vital to the economic and social growth of the region, as well as providing a way for both nations to resolve their key concerns. In the podcast, Eddie Aldrete talks about the significance of San Antonio's relationship with Mexico and the need to rekindle the exchange of ideas and experiences. In the past, San Antonio mayors would visit Mexico through the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's annual trips to meet with the Mexican president, thus building stronger ties between the two nations. Aldrete believes that resuming these trips would help in enhancing the existing bond and open more doors for collaboration on various fronts.
When we talk about the housing market, you can talk about the nation as a whole. And they have hot spots and cold spots. And then you can talk about Dallas/Fort Worth, which is just about always the hottest market in the country. I think I read where some 200,000 people moved here a year ago. So with those kind of people flowing in, is it a good time to buy a house? It's always a good time to buy a house. And two people who will back me up on that is Jorge and Jenny Aldrete. They are co-hosts of The Ultimate Agent Podcast and Luxe Mortgage Team.

When Octavian, who took the title of Augustus as the first emperor of Rome, defeated Mark Antony to become the sole ruler of the Roman world, it was a major turning point in Western civilization. Not only did his decades-long rule completely transform the old Roman Republic into the Roman Empire, but it also profoundly shaped the culture and history of our world today. The Roman Empire: From Augustus to the Fall of Rome traces this breathtaking history from the empire’s foundation by Augustus to its Golden Age in the 2nd century CE through a series of ever-worsening crises until its ultimate disintegration. Taught by acclaimed Professor Gregory S. Aldrete of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, these 24 captivating lectures offer you the chance to experience this story like never before, incorporating the latest historical insights that challenge our previous notions of Rome’s decline. You’ll examine the major events and familiar figures of the Roman Empire, including: The political innovations of Augustus The mental instability and cruel acts of Caligula and Nero Writers such as Ovid, Horace, and Virgil The stoic philosophy of Marcus Aurelius Constantine’s startling conversion to Christianity You’ll also look beyond the famous figures and delve deeply into the lives of ordinary Roman citizens. You’ll hear the messages they left on tombstones or scribbled on walls as graffiti; examine what life was really like for average city-dwellers and the hazards they faced every day; spend a day at Rome’s spectacular public entertainments, such as gladiator games and chariot races; and explore some of the city’s marvelous architectural and engineering works, including the Pantheon and the aqueducts. We cannot truly understand ourselves unless we comprehend the vital influences of Rome on the modern world - and the lessons the empire can still teach us. The Roman Empire: From Augustus to the Fall of Rome is an excellent guide to one of the most important periods in world history.

His emphasis is on rhetoric and oratory, floods in Rome, ancient Greek and Roman history, and daily life in the Roman world. What was life like in ancient Roman times? How did people do things in the ancient Roman Empire? These questions are what fascinates Gregory and keeps him moving forward in his research. What relevance does ancient history have to us today? We are ever presently walking in the footsteps of those who came before us and until you understand the history of prior civilizations, you cannot fully understand who you are. It is the blunders and the achievements of our ancestors that have built up what we see today. There is not much that can be taken away from talking heads in the news and on Twitter, but much can be learned from the study of history. How does Gregory describe a military blunder? To be a true blunder, the situation must have been avoidable. It could have or should have turned out a different way, but because of someone’s mistakes it didn’t. One of the biggest failures of leadership, which consequently leads to blunders, is overconfidence. Michael and Greg give examples of catastrophic blunders ranging from the Battle of the Little Big Horn to Napoleon and Hitler. In this episode of Trend Following Radio: Butterfly effect Overconfidence in leadership Napoleon’s biggest blunder Battle of the Little Big Horn Hitler D-Day Technology and understanding its potential

Background: We report on the design and implementation of a study protocol entitled Acupuncture randomised trial for post anaesthetic recovery and postoperative pain - a pilot study (ACUARP) designed to investigate the effectiveness of acupuncture therapy performed in the perioperative period on post anaesthetic recovery and postoperative pain. Methods/Design: The study is designed as a randomised controlled pilot trial with three arms and partial double blinding. We will compare (a) press needle acupuncture, (b) no treatment and (c) press plaster acupressure in a standardised anaesthetic setting. Seventy-five patients scheduled for laparoscopic surgery to the uterus or ovaries will be allocated randomly to one of the three trial arms. The total observation period will begin one day before surgery and end on the second postoperative day. Twelve press needles and press plasters are to be administered preoperatively at seven acupuncture points. The primary outcome measure will be time from extubation to `ready for discharge' from the post anaesthesia care unit (in minutes). The `ready for discharge' end point will be assessed using three different scores: the Aldrete score, the Post Anaesthetic Discharge Scoring System and an In-House score. Secondary outcome measures will comprise pre-, intra- and postoperative variables (which are anxiety, pain, nausea and vomiting, concomitant medication). Discussion: The results of this study will provide information on whether acupuncture may improve patient post anaesthetic recovery. Comparing acupuncture with acupressure will provide insight into potential therapeutic differences between invasive and non-invasive acupuncture techniques.
