Jace and Rocky break down Wonder Woman #1 from Tom King and Daniel Sampere. It's a new status quo for the Amazon Princess and the Amazons themselves as they are branded terrorists. King leans into the idea of Winder Woman as a rebel and the Sampere art is absolutely stunning. Plus a new villain is introduced with origins linked to the very beginnings of America.

Geekorama is Produced by Superhero-Fiction.com https://www.superhero-fiction.com Welcome back to another episode of Geekorama, the podcast by geeks for geeks. We are sponsored by Superhero Fiction.com, the one stop shop for all your superhero novel needs. We are your hosts Jeremy Flagg and T.L. Heinrich For this week’s episode of Geekorama, Trish and Jeremy are discussing our favorite superhero head canons THE PULL LIST Jeremy - Marauders: We all know I have a fondness for X-Men, and more specifically Kitty Pryde. However, when she took to the helm of an international vessel traversing the globe to rescue mutants, I had my doubts. The new X comics are a bit scattered and don’t feel cohesive, but this one has characters that cut through the arc. With the most recent issue featuring a vengeful Emma Frost, we have the superhero pairing I’ve been waiting for see Whedon’s run on Astonishing X-Men. A solid four capes. Trish - Geekerella: I’ve read the ebook and audiobook. The ebook is FANTASTIC, the audiobook...So, it’s dual first person narrative, and the audio book has a female and male narrator. The woman was AMAZING, she understood what she was saying, she had emotion. It was wonderful. The guy...not so much. I tolerated him because I loved the story and the female narrator. Besides the fact that he’s supposed to be this huge geek and he mispronounced Dahlek TWICE, whoever produced his part of the narration was sloppy. There were entire sentences repeated in nearly every one of his chapters, sometimes two or more in a chapter! Because of that I give the audiobook three capes, and the ebook four. If you want more book suggestions stop by www.Superhero-Fiction.com and read our editorial reviews. GEEK OUTS Trish - Documentary Now-If Christopher Guest had been given a TV show, it would be this show. Created by Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen, Bill Hader. Batsh*t Valley and The Live Cast Recording of Co-Op: The musical. Streaming on Netflix Jeremy - Monster Hunter - I have never played the game, so my expectations walking into this were pretty low. Considering it is a Paul W.S. Anderson, I thought it’d bring the same action as the Resident Evil series. It did, to a degree. The movie plays like a video game, light on the story and heavy on the game play. I didn’t care about the actors and the pacing had some serious issues. Even Jovovich’s badassery seemed lacking compared to her Resident Evil counterpart. It’s a good popcorn movie, but it won’t be blowing minds anytime soon. Deep Dive - Superhero Relationships That Should Be Canon! Trish- Batman and Wonder Woman- Oh My God! Every single time I see the two of these on screen, whether animated or live action, THE CHEMISTRY! If there’s anyone who could balance Batman’s broody dead parents I have to be alone vibe, it’s the Amazon Princess. These two were the ONLY good part of Justice League. If they had given me a Batman Wonder Woman movie where all they did was flirt and kick ass, I would watch that every freaking week. The Flash and Killer Frost (The Flash Tv show)- I have never liked Iris, the chemistry is so limp, it’s not even funny. It’s like they mentally friend zoned each other and no one is willing to let them do it. Whereas the chemistry between Barry and Frost is *chef kiss*. Rip and Sarah (Legends of Tomorrow)- Although I LOVE Sarah with Ava, there was some great, simmering chemistry between these two. There were moments when I swore Rip wanted to kiss her and I was HERE for that! Natasha Romonoff and Bruce Banner- Who doesn’t love a kick ass woman with the world’s most adorable nerd? Jeremy Emma Frost & Jean Grey - You have literal Fire and Ice with this coupling. I think with Jean’s wild mannerisms and Emma’s calculated demeanor, they’d be a delightfully dangerous pair of ladies. Also, let’s be honest, it’d be hot. Storm & Wolverine - We have seen this pair in a non-canon story by Chris Claremont. Wolverine and Storm have had a series of partners, and it never ends well. I feel this is a natural one. Between their respect for one another and moral guidelines, it’d be a perfect pair. Matt Murdock & Jessica Jones - They are both hot messes. Together they would be a massive disaster of egos. They would most likely try to kill each other, and it’d be the least healthy relationship in all of Marvel. But damn, it’d be a sexy train wreck! Xavier & Magneto - Not the comics, but their actor counterparts. I need to see more cute photos of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan. So let’s just make it canon and be on with it! Scott Beatty is an incredible guy. He's a writer, professor, father and DC Comics historian on top of everything else. Beatty has written several books in the Batman Family series of events including Nightwing: Year One, Robin: Year One and Batgirl: Year One (the latter two with Bane co-creator, Chuck Dixon). He has also published several, "Ultimate Guides" via DK Publishing that included, Batman: The Ultimate Guide to the Dark Knight, The Superman Handbook: The Ultimate Guide to Saving the Day, Wonder Woman: The Ultimate Guide to the Amazon Princess and The DC Comics Encyclopedia, to name a few. On top of all that Beatty has recently survived a major health crisis following a respiratory bout with COVID-19 that had him at one point coughing up blood. Literally, the man has gone from writing about superheroes to becoming a survivor and in all that did not lose his sense of humor, his determination to continue working and continues to take care of his family post recovery. We spoke with Beatty about his career, the false negative result of the test that doctors later confirmed was most likely the dreaded "C-word" that people don't want to mention and the future of the industry as a whole with the new normal when it comes to publishing books. You can follow Scott Beatty on Twitter @Scott_M_Beatty, his blog at ScottBeatty.Blogspot.com and find out what else he is working on via the interview above.

I can also tease he won't be going back alone.” Link:http://ew.com/tv/2017/02/24/spoiler-room-arrow-shield-blacklist/ Arrow's Stephen Amell addresses idea of Dinah-Oliver romance (Date: 28 Feb 2017) After the shocking death of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), some fans of the comics were disheartened by the fact that Oliver (Stephen Amell) would not end up with the Black Canary — in the comics, Oliver married Dinah Laurel Lance, the character portrayed by Cassidy on Arrow. That all changed when Juliana Harkavy was added to the cast as Dinah Drake, otherwise known in the comics as the first Black Canary. However, that doesn't necessarily mean there will be a Green Arrow-Black Canary romance, especially considering the show has never been beholden to the comics. “The idea that Oliver would end up with the Black Canary being Katie Cassidy or any new iteration thereof? To me, it could happen, it could not, but it's certainly not destined to happen or predesigned to happen,” Amell tells EW. Teri Hatcher has already been confirmed to debut later this season in an as-yet unspecified villain role.It doesn't take much to connect those dots, and arise at the natural question: Will “Supergirl” feature an on-screen reunion between Cain and Hatcher, who starred in “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” from 1993 to 1997? “We'd love to,” “Supergirl” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said of a Cain/Hatcher scene on “Supergirl.” “There's a plan — if we can execute the plan.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/supergirl-dean-cain-teri-hatcher-lois-and-clark-reunion/ EP HOPES FOR ‘TRUE FOUR-WAY' ARROWVERSE CROSSOVER (Date: 24 Feb 2017) For the next full-scale Arrowverse crossover — which is tradition holds, will likely be in the fall — the creative forces behind the show are hoping to fully involve all four series, according to Andrew Kreisberg, an executive producer on each one of the shows. With the early renewals, Kreisberg explained, the shows can take advantage of pre-planned off-days in production to accommodate the cast members who are appearing on multiple shows in a short time, something that was particularly difficult last year with “Supergirl,” since series lead Melissa Benoist appeared in both a normal episode of her show, and then as a guest on “The Flash,” ‘Arrow' and ‘Legends.' ‘Supergirl' was the show we needed to shut down the most, and it was the one we didn't have any opportunity to,” Kreisberg said. “So now that we've gotten the early pick up and we've started designing the seasons, we're building in those dark days — and actually more dark days on ‘Supergirl' than the other shows — to make it a little easier.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/andrew-kreisberg-hopes-four-way-arrowverse-crossover-supergirl-flash-arrow-legends/ ‘Black Lightning' Finds Its Lead: Cress Williams Cast As Jefferson In the CW Pilot (Date: 24 Feb 2017) Hart of Dixie alum Cress Williams is back at the CW as the title character in Black Lightning, the network's DC drama pilot from Greg Berlanti, king of the CW's DC universe, and the Being Mary Jane duo of Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil. Link:http://deadline.com/2017/02/black-lightning-cress-williams-cast-jefferson-cw-pilot-1201971415/ ‘Black Lightning': Nafessa Williams & China Anne McClain To Star As Jefferson's Daughters In the CW Pilot (Date: 02 March 2017) Nafessa Williams (Code Black) and China Anne McClain (House of Payne) have landed leads opposite Cress Williams in Black Lightning, the CW's DC drama pilot.McCain plays Jefferson's younger daughter, the teenage Jennifer Piere, an independent, outspoken scholar-athlete with a wild streak of her own. Williams is Anissa Pierce — passionate and quick-witted, Jefferson's twenty-something daughter balances the demands of medical school with her job teaching part-time at her father's school. In the DC comics, Anissa and Jennifer follow in their father's footsteps and become superheroes, taking on the names of Thunder and Lightning, respectively. That's something of interesting flaw in continuity, so will it be something that Supergirl will address? According to executive producer Andrew Kriesberg: it won't be. According to Kriesberg, “the problem with that is if we do that once, we're going to open the floodgates of insanity." According to Kriesberg, it would take “a really good story” for Supergirl to get alternate versions of Barry or Oliver on the show; or conversly, an alternate version of Kara on Earth 1. In short: it would have to be an event. The story really centers around Iris,” said Helbing. “Aside from Barry and Kara, Iris plays a huge role in the musical.” The episode will also feature songs from “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's” Rachel Bloom and the “La La Land” songwriting duo of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. In the comics, Spheer's invention mutated him into the villain known as Biomax, who had the power of mind control. It's unclear whether his character on the show will follow the same path. Kohli will appear in episode 18, titled “Ace Reporter,” which executive producer Andrew Kreisberg recently revealed will heavily feature Kara's journalism side. As there is no Batman in the Arrowvrse, this Talia instead finds herself involved with Green arrow. This season, it's been revealed that she was the one who rescued Oliver from Ishmael Gregor and then proceeded to push him into fulfilling his destiny. Talia has trained Oliver, but she's also an al Ghul. Can she be trusted? Does the apple fall far from the psychotic family tree? Doig recently spoke with CBR about making Talia a badass, mentoring Oliver, her possible connections to Prometheus and the inevitable showdown with Nyssa. Link:http://www.cbr.com/interview-arrow-lexa-doig-talia-al-ghul/ ARROW'S PROMETHEUS SPEAKS OUT ABOUT HIS STUNNING IDENTITY REVEAL (Date: 01 March 2017) Speaking to CBR and other reporters, Segarra opened up about his role as Prometheus and how he balanced Adrian Chase's two very different identities. He also shared some stories about how and when he learned about the big twist, as well as why he studied up on Vigilante before arriving in Vancouver to start filming Season 5. “I'm telling them, ‘Oh, I'm playing this guy… I don't really know too much about him, but who knows? It'll be fun, right?' And then they announced Adrian Chase: Vigilante. And I'm like, ‘Oh my gosh, I'm playing Vigilante!' So now, I get to Vancouver, I think I'm playing this guy Vigilante. That's who everybody thought, right? So I start reading ‘Vigilante' comics and reading about Chase and reading about the history of these guys. Then I get to work and I'm talking to Marc. I'm like, ‘Marc, man, I'm really doing my research. I'm really being studious about this Vigilante guy.' And he's like, ‘What do you mean?' And I'm like, ‘Oh, dude, you announced it finally! I'm going to be a great Adrian Chase: Vigilante!' And he says, ‘That's not who you're playing.' ‘What?!' He's like, ‘Yeah, you're playing this guy.' And that's when they took me out on the city and they told me everything. So, to put it this way, me and my wife and my doggie, we moved over to Vancouver thinking one thing and it was revealed once I got here who I was actually playing. That whole journey began at that moment. I feel I'll always look back and laugh at this.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-prometheus-josh-segarra-adrian-chase-fighting-fire-with-fire-susan-williams-oliver-queen-artemis-interview/ ARROW EP WENDY MERICLE ADDRESSES PROMETHEUS' IDENTITY & MOTIVATIONS (Date: 01 March 2017) In the wake of this stunning reveal, executive producer Wendy Mericle spoke to CBR and other reporters about what's in store for Team Arrow now that Prometheus' identity is out in the open. She addressed why she and the other showrunners made Chase Prometheus instead of Vigilante, why those chose now to make this reveal, what drives Chase to torture Oliver Queen and more. Why make Chase Prometheus instead of Vigilante? “I think one of the reasons we did that was because everyone would be thinking, “Of course he's Vigilante!” Adrian Chase is Vigilante in the comic books, as you pointed out, and we thought it would be a really fun sort of twist to do what we've always done on the show, which is to take the comic book mythology and turn it on its head and see what kind of story we could mine from a surprise like that. It was also just something different for this season. We wanted to change up how we introduced the big bad and change up when we did it and how we did it. Hopefully, we succeeded in that this year.” She also said that Prometheus is going to mess with Lance as well. Makaro. The team has been in flux all season, with Diggle being out for certain periods of time, Artemis betraying the team, and the loss of Ragman. Curtis and Wild Dog have managed to stick around, though, and the team seems poised to finally get a new Black Canary full time. It would be unfortunate for Olliver's ragtag group to dissolve so quickly, but that definitely might be the case. The post raves about Daxamite technology, so it looks like Smith's episode will be resolving the ongoing mystery of Mon-El and the aliens who would see him captured. The other post has Smith teaming up with none other than Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter! This season has seen Carter taking up none other than the mantle of President of the United States, and the seal on the wall behind the two of them confirms that she is returning to reprise the role. The cast list includes all the usual suspects, like the “Legends” team and the members of the Legion of Doom. It also includes a surprise guest star: J.R.R. Tolkien, played by Jack Turner (Freeform's “Stitchers”). Since we haven't seen a synopsis for “Aruba” just yet, we don't actually know if this is the J.R.R. Tolkien or just another person with that incredibly specific and unique name. The cast list also includes a few other surprise names. Wentworth Miller and Katie Cassidy will reprise their roles as Leonard Snart and Laurel Lance, respectively. Poague's Accelerated Man will debut on February 28 in the episode “Attack on Central City.” A new photo from the episode reveals the comic-accurate look of Poague's Accelerated Man, who is a Speed Force Conduit and Earth-19's version of the Flash. In the comics, Earth-19 is ruled by the 21st Century's King George and has only just begun enjoying “electric technology.” As a Speed Force conduit in this strange dimension, Accelerated Man enjoys a massively increased heal rate, increased perception, the ability to phase through solid objects and, of course, super speed — basically, he's the Flash. It was the end of the world as they knew it and they felt fine. The red skies had passed, the world was shiny and new. And from the ashes of a convoluted continuity came a new DC, a DC not just for kids. More mature, grittier and more reflective of the world around. Yes, the POST-CRISIS DC is here! Kicking off the whole shebang is JOHN BYRNE'S first issue of ACTION COMICS #584 featuring the new, revamped SUPERMAN. Not exactly a new plot though. Then, Jason Todd makes his post-crisis debut in BATMAN#408 boosting the tires off the Batmobile! What a scamp. Finally, GEORGE PEREZ gives a fresh coat of paint to the Amazon Princess in WONDER WOMAN #1. It's a brave new world.Feedback for this show can be sent to: heykidscomics@virginmedia.comHey Kids, Comics! is a proud member of the Comics Podcast Network (http://www.comicspodcasts.com/) and the League of Comic Book Podcasts (http://www.comicbooknoise.com/league/) but also the TWO TRUE FREAKS Internet Radio network!! One of the hardest working men in podcasting, Gene Hendricks (The Hammer Podcasts, The Quantum Cast, Anime Freaks) drops by to join Chris and Cindy in discussing the infamous 1974 Wonder Woman TV pilot movie starring Cathy Lee Crosby as a very blonde, very non-traditional, not-quite-Amazon Princess! Decked out in much different costume, she matches wits with Ricardo Montalban (in a very familiar costume for Fantasy Island fans), an international thief who has stolen some top-secret code books! It's got tricked out bracelets, non-visible invisible planes, and some of the worst pick-up lines in cinema history! What did Gene think of it? What did Chris and Cindy think of it? Where's Tattoo when you need him? Download via iTunes. Gene's fine blog and podcast work can be found here! TheHammer Strikes! Blog TheHammer Podcasts! TheQuantum Cast AnimeFreaks Be sure to let us know what you think! Let your voice be heard! We'd love to read it aloud in an upcoming episode. Drop us a line in our comments section, or email us at supermatespodcast@gmail.com. If you're listening on iTunes, please consider leaving a review of our show! We're also on Facebook! Chris (aka Earth 2 Chris) co-hosts the Power Records Podcast with the esteemed Rob Kelly over at the Fire and Water Podcast feed! Next time: Chris and Cindy jump on the Avengers bandwagon by taking a look at a Marvel Age classic, “To Be An Avenger” from Amazing Spider-Man Annual #3! Plus, they discuss the trailers for Batman V Superman: The Dawn of Justice, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Ant-Man! All this, plus your feedback!
Hey DC Nationites, did you happen to catch the movie with Gerard Butler that came out in the spring called Olympus Has Fallen? Well, in terms of the Smallville universe Olympus is rising as Clark and Lois visit Washington DC where they meet the first superheroine in her white tights, fighting for our rights and the old red, white and blue, Wonder Woman! Wait a minute, that's not right. It should be satin tights but that's not what the artwork shows, as Diana has got her bracelets but she does her heroing in a white jumpsuit instead of the traditional Wonder Woman costume but some future cover artwork showed that it's coming but at this part of the story, the Amazon Princess isn't quite the full-fledged Wonder Woman just yet as we think she's in The Blur stage in achieving her destiny. Anyway, with this episode's review of Smallville Season 11 Digital Issues #56–58: Olympus Chapters 1–3 otherwise known as Smallville Season 11 Print Issue #16 we talk about the decisions Bryan made to give Wonder Woman a Smallville twist comparing it to our frustration over Superman and Wonder Woman having a romance in The New 52. However, don't think that's all we talked about as we formed theories on how many of Bryan's ideas behind the Smallville version of Wonder Woman could be used in a live-action film. We also discussed how seeing Martha Kent again was able to recapture the sense of nostalgia for previous seasons that made the Season 9 episode Hostage so successful and how the mentioning of Connor Kent a.k.a. Superboy going to a school in San Francisco for superpowered teens makes us want to see a side story featuring the Smallville version of the Teen Titans with Cyborg as their teacher.
