House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama television series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal for HBO. A prequel to Game of Thrones (2011–2019), it is the second television series in Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire franchise. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik served as the showrunners for the first season. Based on parts of Martin's 2018 book Fire & Blood, the series begins about 100 years after the Seven Kingdoms are united by the Targaryen conquest, nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. Featuring an ensemble cast, the show portrays the events leading up to the decline of House Targaryen, a devastating war of succession known as the "Dance of the Dragons." House of the Dragon received a straight-to-series order in October 2019, with casting beginning in July 2020 and principal photography starting in April 2021 in the United Kingdom. The series premiered on August 21, 2022, with the first season consisting of ten episodes. The series was renewed for a second season five days after its premiere. Sapochnik departed as showrunner after the first season, leaving Condal to serve as the sole showrunner for the second season. The second season premiered on June 16, 2024, with eight episodes. In June 2024, ahead of the second-season premiere, the series was renewed for a third season. The first season received positive reviews, with praise for its character development, visual effects, writing, score by Ramin Djawadi, and performances. However, the pacing, specifically of the time jumps, and the dark lighting of some scenes were criticized. The series premiere was watched by over 10 million viewers across the linear channels and HBO Max on the first day, the biggest in HBO's history. At the 80th Golden Globe Awards, House of the Dragon won Best Television Series – Drama, and Emma D'Arcy was nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama. The series earned nine Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, and won three British Academy Television Craft Awards.

#houseofthedragon #gameofthrones In the Season 2 premiere, the Greens and Blacks ponder their next courses of action after the murder of Lucerys Velaryon. Alicent and Otto both try to exert control over King Aegon, not knowing that another also makes a play to get the King's attention. Daemon grows impatient for action while Queen Rhaenyra seeks confirmation of her son's death. Vengeance for Luke's murder takes an unexpected turn that will have major consequences for the Targaryens on both sides. Editor's Note: While discussing Emma D'Arcy's performance as Queen Rhaenyra in this episode. we erroneously referred to the actress using she/her pronouns, instead of their preferred pronouns of they/them. We apologize for the error. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/fandomhybridpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/fandomhybridpodcast/support
House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama television series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal for HBO. A prequel to Game of Thrones (2011–2019), it is the second television series in the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise. Featuring an ensemble cast, the show portrays the events leading up to the decline of House Targaryen, a devastating war of succession known as the "Dance of the Dragons". House of the Dragon received a straight-to-series order in October 2019, with casting beginning in July 2020 and principal photography starting in April 2021 in the United Kingdom. The series premiered on August 21, 2022, with the first season consisting of ten episodes. Five days after its premiere, the series was renewed for a second season. Sapochnik departed as showrunner after the first season, leaving Condal to serve as the sole showrunner for the second season. The second season premiered on June 16, 2024, consisting of eight episodes. In June 2024, ahead of the second season premiere, the series was renewed for a third season. The first season received positive reviews, with praise towards its character development, visual effects, writing, score by Ramin Djawadi, and performances. However, the pacing, specifically of the time jumps, and the dark lighting of some scenes were criticized. The series premiere was watched by over 10 million viewers across the linear channels and HBO Max on the first day, the biggest in HBO's history. At the 80th Golden Globe Awards, House of the Dragon won Best Television Series – Drama and Emma D'Arcy was nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama. The series earned nine Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, and won three British Academy Television Craft Awards. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/popcorn-junkies/message
As a House of The Dragon fan I am SO excited that we are joined by the show's stars Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke for this episode! If you are not familiar with the prequel series to Game of Thrones already - where have you been babes - it slays in many ways. There's murder, there's backstabbing, a whole lot of hot people getting up to hot things, and many storylines to get your head around, so it's time to take a trip to Westeros if you haven't already (and you don't even have to have watched Game of Thrones to love the show). At the centre of it all is Princess Rhaenyra played by Emma D'Arcy and her childhood best friend, Allicent Hightower, played by Olivia Cooke who destroy their friendship in the quest for power. If you thought you had had a tough friendship break up, this is NEXT LEVEL. Outside of Westeros you may also already recognise Olivia from the Oscar nominated The Sound of Metal, Me Earl and The Girl, Ready Player One and Apple TV's Slow Horses. And whilst this is Emma's breakout role they were nominated for a Golden Globe for their scene stealing performance. Today as they return to House of The Dragon season two - which is available now on Sky and streaming service NOW - they talk about the moments on the show that had them clutching their pearls, how they are finally finding their power in their roles and the sheer embarrassment of getting smacked in the face (or in Emma's case being spat in the face by a co-star!). What I love most about this episode though is when Emma opens up beautifully about the relief at being able to live their life openly as a non-binary person and just how cute the friendship they have built off screen is. If you love the episode too, get in touch with me via social media @joshsmithhosts - I always love talking to you. Love, Josh x P.S. In this epsidoe you will have heard me talk about my book, ‘Great Chat: Seven Lessons for Better Conversation, Deeper Connections and Improved Wellbeing' which is FINALLY out this week! You can get your copy here https://geni.us/GreatChat and I really hope it inspires you to start using conversation as a self help practice, empowers you to be a better communicator and helps you build the connections you are deserving of. P.P.S. This episode is sponsored by Bicester Village which I am so excited about as it's one of my favourite go-to day trips for great chats and great bonding time with my loved ones. If you need a little retail therapy with a pal, Bicester Village is home to more than 150 fashion and lifestyle boutiques, renowned restaurants and five star service - and we all deserve a bit of five star service don't we?! But luxury doesn't have to come with a hefty price tag, as Bicester Village offers up to 40% off the original retail prices ALL YEAR ROUND. Race you there?

Hamilton star Renée Elise Goldsberry (She-Hulk, Girls 5Eva) chats all about the Game of Thrones prequel, House of Dragon (HBO) on the latest episode of Son of a Binge. Renée reveals why she prefers the prequel to the original. Plus, she confesses what made her stop watching Game of Thrones in the early seasons. She also talks about what she learned from being on One Life to Live, and how soap operas set the stage for dramas like House of Dragon. Renée gets candid about diversity on television and why shows like Friends did such a disservice to Black audiences. Finally, she chats about her time on Hamilton, from when she first auditioned, to the night Steve Martin (Only Murders in the Building) and Phylicia Rashad came to see it at the Public Theater. She also reveals the Succession role she had to pass on. She breaks down House of Dragon, which stars Emma D'Arcy and Milly Alcock (Princess Rhaenrya Targaryen), Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen), Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), Nanna Blondell (Lady Laena Velayron), Eve Best (Princess Rhaenys Targaryen), Graham McTavish (Harrold Westerling), and Phoebe Campbell (Rhaena Targaryen). From the graphic child birth scenes, to women in power, to Daemon and Rhaenyra's taboo relationship, Renée discusses it all, and tells us whether she will ever watch the rest of Game of Thrones. This week I am joined by the lovely Emma, one of the co-founders of Untangle Grief (if you haven’t come across them on social media yet then take a look now!) It was really lovely for me to record this episode as Emma and I actually know each other from when we were really young and in High School and we recently got in touch with each other again through the grief community and of course our mutual losses! In this episode Emma tells her own grief story and we discuss the difficulties around losing a parent over a long period of time from a terminal illness and the pressures that come with living your normal every-day life whilst acknowledging the fact that your parent is dying at home. We cover friendships in grief, family dynamics and of course the creation of Untangle Grief. We recorded this episode a while back so I also think it’s important before we begin to give you an update on what they’re up to: Untangle rebuilds life after loss by connecting people with like-minded communities, expert advice and admin tools. She sat down with me to talk about revision, as well as the difference between working for a publisher and editing under her own shingle. I asked her a LOT of questions, including, what should an author expect from a Freelance Editor? How do you know if or when the time is right to hire one? What are the most common problems she sees in manuscripts? What is a "Quiet Book"? What's the difference between YA and MG, reallllly? Plus, Emma gives her top tips and tricks for revising, and a whole lot more.
'I really think that's something we found really funny but the listener is going to be like what the f*ck' So we've finally given into the pleadings of our favourite Tommy Tiernan show MC Fred Cooke and allow him the honour of dieting with our wonderful Emma D in a stunning musical intro as we dissect American TV hits. This week, we talk nineties teen-com favourite: 'Saved by the Bell' Originating as Good Morning Mis Bliss, the show explored high-school social dynamics, pivoting around the hotshot protagonist Zack Morris, his buddies and the various women vying for his affections - most notably Kelly and Jessie. Good points of the show: Mario Lopez's tight black curls. Bad points: the serious episodes where they instead on conveying an important social message like 'Don't Do Drugs!' and 'Don't Study Hard! No boy will like you!' The list of thought-provoking questions are endless: Why could Dustin Diamond aka Screech not let go of the franchise? Did Elizabeth Berkeley ever get over her woeful jacuzzi movie moment? Whose real name was 'Lark'? Who ended up on Beverly Hills 902010? Why did the College Years fail to capture our imaginations the way its prequel did? And also, who the hell was Tori? If you're Dustin Diamond please get in touch on Twitter and Insta @Upto90Podcast

Workshop #21 Young Composers & Improvisors Workshop Recordings
I began with a chord progression. I think it is easier to make a melody first and then add a chord progression, but this time I decided to try something else. I used the Clarinet and the Violin for my main melody. I really like composing my own music. I have learned a lot about how music works and different ways to compose. I also learned that most music has a structure, its not just random. I think it was challenging to use all of the instruments at least once. It was really hard to figure out how everything fits together.
