EP334: Today I'm bringing back another amazing episode I did with two more of my awesome and fully-sparked students, Kim Diede and Gail Johnson, who each share how stepping into their most authentic selves to live from a place of deep purpose has changed their lives. They are both doing incredible things and making an impact in the world by doing what they love. Kim, is a mom of 3 and a grandma of 1, who worked in banking at a job that was clearly not what she was brought here to do. You can hear her entire back story in Episode 7 when I first interviewed her on my podcast and before she ever entered The Second Half SPARK School. She shares how working with me gave her a new perspective about how her fear of the unknown - even though she had discovered her purpose and it was lighting her up - was keeping her trapped in a job and depriving the world of the books she hadn't yet written. Gail, who is a medium, was denying her real gifts too. She didn't think she had what it took to do what she really wanted to do. But through the work she did inside the Second Half SPARK School and then working 1 on 1 with me, she discovered she DID. She found the courage and the belief that is available to all of us once we get erase those dang limiting beliefs! Both Kim and Gail talk about how they overcame the fears holding them back from the purposes they both knew were theirs to pursue and how once they pushed through that huge obstacle and into the soul-driven work they were created for, the life they didn't know was available to them - waking up every day with excitement and deep fulfillment - became a reality. They are proof that even if you know your purpose, it can evade you if you don't have a coach to help you "see" the things you cannot see and believe the things you are unable to believe YET. You can hear all about Gail's back story and how she discovered her unique gift at a young age, as well as learn more about her program, H.O.P.E., that helps people who are having difficulty dealing with the loss of a loved one in Episode 187 of this podcast. Both Kim and Kroy say in their divorce papers that the marriage is “irretrievably broken,” and sources close to the couple point to money woes. In the first question-and-answer episode of SGTC, Kim and Kara take listener questions. Some of the topics include communicating your needs and asking for help before its too late. Kim would have two nickels and explains why that's not a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. Both Kim and Kara were apparently raised on NASCAR, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and America's Most Wanted. This one is all over the place in the best of ways. Moments of truth are something we always advocate for here on the Soul Sisters Sunday platform. Thus, today, we pose a potentially difficult question: Are you a good friend? Both Kim and Jay are frank and confident in their responses to this query. The ladies answered the question about themselves before asking each other. It's interesting to hear what they have to say, but you gotta tune in for that! Kim and Jay also talk about ways to be a good friend. Surprisingly, they both agree that being a "sometimes" friend isn't a good thing. You know? That friend that only calls you when they want something but you usually don't hear from them? Yeaaaaa it's time to reevaluate that connection! Now that the Soul Sisters have answered the question about themselves, it's time for you to ask it too. Continue to hold yourselves accountable as you grow Don't forget to follow us on social media: @soulsisterssundaypodcast. https://linktr.ee/soulsisterssundaypodcast

Both Kim and Jeanna want to know: How do we confront the evangelical church's centuries-old toxic influence on American society--and what might a more inclusive, more compassionate American story be?

In this episode Kim and Tia have a fun conversation about comparison. They used Brene Brown's newest book “Atlas of the Heart” as a springboard for a conversation about what researchers call upward and downward comparison. Both Kim and Tia take off their masks and share how comparison has shown up in their lives. As Brene Brown writes, comparison is something that just happens to us and it is very normal, but what we do about it when it shows up in our lives is up to us. We can strive to stay in our own lane and wish the best for the person in the lane next to us. This is where connection comes in rather than always comparing. “Comparison is the crush of conformity from one side and competition from the other-it's trying to simultaneously fit in and stand out.” ~Brene Brown Go to our Teachable Online School and check out our courses including our signature FREE “Balancing Your Backpack” and “I AM WHOLE” Courses https://masksoff.teachable.com/courses To Contact Us: Instagram: @masksoffcommunity FB Masks Off Community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/masksoffcommunity Masks Off Email: podcastmasksoff@gmail.com Masks Off YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCaWJfO7ZFd4aYBX3e-clj9Q Tia Fagan Website: tiafagan.com Facebook: @tiafagancoach Instagram: @tiafagancoach Email: tiafagancoach@gmail.com Kim Gross Website: unlock-yourmind.com Facebook: @unlockyourmindhypnotherapy Email: kimgross@unlock-yourmind.com Episode 123

In 2013, I (Kim) experienced my first concussion and unfortunately, it wouldn't be the last. In 2018, I experienced another one (well sort of...you'll have to tune in to see what I'm talking about) and it rocked my world. After working through several years of post-concussion syndrome, I feel compelled to share my story and the resources that helped me recover. Honestly, it was HARD, and if I can help anyone lighten the load of their recovery...I'm gonna do that. Molly Parker is one of those incredible resources and sources of inspiration that helped me get through. I found Molly Parker's Instagram account and it made me feel so incredibly seen and validated. Molly shares her own incredible story of overcoming a concussion as well as simple tools and resources for anyone who is struggling. Seriously, this woman is a warrior! Whether you've been there, are going through this, or know someone who is, this show will help you understand how to help yourself or your loved one to work through a challenging time. What we cover: Both Kim and Molly share their own concussion stories and experiences. The physical symptoms, all the emotions, you name it, they cover it. MRI's do NOT show concussions. The current treatment protocol for Concussions (it is no longer “just go to bed”) How recovery can vary from one individual to the next. What to say and what NOT to say to someone who is struggling with a concussion. The importance of validation with an injury that is invisible. We all just want to be seen. Resources we talk about: Follow Molly on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/mollyparkerpt/?hl=en Work with Molly and Natasha in the Concussion Compass Program https://www.concussioncompass.com/join-concussion-compass Kim's blog post about her concussion https://www.myfitcoach.ca/single-post/head-games-my-post-concussion-story-part-1 Iris Blue light filter for your screens: https://iristech.co/ Here's the workout video I (Kim) tried to make when she was in the midst of Post Concussion Syndrome. Have you ever asked yourself, “Why can't I do the little things I need to be doing to take care of myself?” Well, my guests today on The Being Human podcast are two amazing women in my membership community who took part in my 14-Day Morning Reboot Challenge to tackle just that. I'm so excited to introduce to you Kari Laskowski and Kim Barman as we talk all about how their personalized morning routines, the challenges they faced in and outside of this reboot (especially losing their normal routines during the pandemic), and how it has positively impacted them. Both Kim and Kari are part of the MYOB community. Kari lives in Chicago with her husband and her two-year-old. When she's not chasing her toddler around the city, she's either cooking, watching a documentary, or, on a good day, writing.Kim Barman joined the community because she's starting her own business and found herself caught up in her head about it in a way that wasn't productive. Her anxiety may have been related to the chaos brought on by the seemingly never-ending pandemic, but she thought that sharing courage with other women doing big things with their lives could only help. One particular person was in the wedding and left to run an errand and they almost held up the ceremony. That still burns her to this day.Crazy neurotic Tricia freaks out about being late while her husband is always cool, calm, and collective. As an embroidery person myself, I am naturally attracted to other fiber artists - and Michelle Staub of Stitching Sabbatical creates such incredible work, it's hard to ignore. But also it totally catches my eye and I love it so much every time I see it. Michelle has an insane talent - she stitches photo realistic pet portraits. YES, STITCHES THEM. With thread. It's insane. So it's easy to see why people would love following her to begin with, but Michelle wasn't going to rest on her laurels when it came to Instagram. She went about approaching her account in a very specific and intentional way (it might surprise you!) and she created an atmosphere where people could EXPECT something from her. She made herself a reliable party and people kept showing up! What Michelle has done with Instagram might surprise you in a lot of ways. A lot of it was really refreshing to me and served as a good reminder that what we see and what we infer about what we see isn't already ... well, correct. After chatting with Kim of Daisy Faye Designs about her IG debacle, and having this discussion with Michelle about her Instagram experience, I have firmed up my conclusion that Instagram is useful for connecting with an audience, and it's fun to use... but it's not the be all end all. (Personally i actually find it is NOT fun sometime haha.) Both Kim and Michelle shared with us that while Instagram assists their business - and they are both using it in completely different ways - their businesses are reliant primarily on their talents. IG helps them share that talent and that's awesome. Women Rocking Wall Street - A podcast dedicated to women in financial services
Episode 45: Don’t Tell Yourself No, Let Others Do It for YouGuest: Kim Shaw Elliott and Anne Elliot This week’s episode of The Women Rocking Wall Street Show is special because we have a mother and daughter duo. Both women are in financial services, each with interesting personal stories. Kim Shaw Elliott began her career as a litigator and eventually decided to combine her knowledge of the law with a Master of Business Administration. She now serves as President and in-house ERISA Counsel of Independent Financial Partners (IFP) Plan Advisors, a division of financial partners located in Tampa, Florida. IFP Plan Advisors works with 150 specialists in the retirement plan arena and provide services to around 1700 retirement plans. Anne Elliott graduated from the University of Missouri 4 years ago and she has been working with Edward Jones for over 6 years. Anne began her career at Edward Jones as an on-call Branch Office Administrator while still in school, thanks to advice from Kim. After training with an Advisor over spring break, Anne knew she wanted to gain more experience. She picked up the phone and began calling various Edward Jones branches to see if she could fill any openings. She was successful in her search and has been with Edward Jones ever since. Anne is currently in the Client Strategies Group and has been in that position for 6 months. There were two things that helped Anne secure her first position with Edwards Jones – networking and rejection. Through the networking Kim had done in her career, Anne was able to connect with the right people. Once she had some experience, Anne wasn’t afraid of rejection when she picked up the phone and began calling. She had learned in graduate school not to tell yourself no but rather to let others do it for you. She knew that rejection promoted personal and professional growth, and while it was hard if she hadn’t taken the chance, she would not have started with Edwards Jones at such an early stage of her career. Both Kim and Anne work in a male dominant industry. For example, while Kim was a litigator, she had an instance where a judge thought she was a secretary. Anne has seen the male dominance within the industry but she is also seeing it slowly changing. Her career advice is to always do what’s right for the client, and that should be at the base of every decision. Anne also recommends honing your networking skills, because this industry is all about relationships. Thanks for listening to this week’s episode of Women Rocking Wall Street!
