Eminem & Obama rally in Detroit, Bronny James makes nepo-baby history, new Van Halen music, RIP Fernando Valenzuela, Nicole Kidman's orgasms, Drew's Hollywood Palace deep dive, and a Bristol Stool Scale lesson. One Direction's Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy was being “held hostage” in Argentina. Liam was TOTALLY going to marry her before he passed away. The Menendez Bros will likely be getting out of prison on Friday. Local political ads remain our favorites. Nicole Kidman has had it with all her orgasms at work. Zach Bryan still has to deal with his old fling. Zach only acted this way because his mom died… 8 years ago. Van Halen's “Unfinished” rocks. Graham Nash did an interview with Rolling Stone. This leads to several videos. We fall down a rabbit hole of The Hollywood Palace. Turns out former NFL WR Lance Rentzel is not a good dude, but he was good enough to keep playing in the league. Sponge has a new album of covers out now called 1994. OnlyFans model and former adult film star Sienna Grace bangs famous dudes and dishes. Sophia Rosing is in the Guinness Book of World Records for amount of times using the n-word in one setting and now she's headed to the slammer. Election 2024: Donald Trump is going on Joe Rogan Friday… Kamala Harris will not. Eminem and Barack Obama rallied for Kamala in Detroit. Hallie Jackson's Harris interview was a debacle. A car messed with the wrong motorcade. ICP's Violent J endorses Kamala Harris. Michael Keaton hates Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Stevie Wonder had tech issues last night at Little Caesars Arena. Drew tells the tale of his high school buddy ‘Eggy'. I'll take a Quarter Pounder with E. Coli and cheese, please. Nice job, McDonald's. We educate Trudi on the Bristol Stool Scale. The Abercrombie and Fitch guy was arrested for sex trafficking. CBS reporter Manuel Bojorquez did a good job on the story, but we have questions about Manuel. RIP Fernando Valenzuela. Eight days before his birthday and he'll have to watch his Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series from heaven. LeBron James and his nepo-baby, Bronny, made NBA history last night. Rosie O'Donnell is NOT funny. Here is the proof. Ojani Noa is blaming Diddy for his heartbreak with JLo. Drake is totally banging her now. James Franco has a new much younger girlfriend. Some people are saying he kept it a secret for years. Trudi is watching Dark Matter on Apple TV+. Marc is not impressed. Andrew Tate is a douchebag. Despite high ratings and attendance, the WNBA lost $40M this year. The Unrivaled Basketball League is looking to gain more female basketball participation. Generators are BS. As parents, we're always monitoring our children's habits and health, but we might not realize how much we can learn from their poop. The color, consistency, and frequency of your child's bowel movements can provide important clues about their digestive health, nutrient absorption, and even potential food sensitivities. In this episode, we'll discuss what to look for in your child's stool, when to be concerned, and how you can support their digestive health naturally. We'll also talk about the connection between gut health and brain function and offer practical strategies you can put into place today to help your child thrive. [21:37] How to improve leaky gut [26:31] Functional lab tests we recommend   Memorable Moments: “The color, consistency, and frequency of your child's bowel movements can provide important clues about their digestive health, nutrient absorption, and even potential food sensitivities.” ”The Bristol Stool Chart or Bristol Stool Scale is a medical aid designed to classify feces into seven groups.” ”Our brains are deeply connected to our guts. If our guts aren't functioning well, our brains won't be able to function well either. ADHD symptoms can become worse when the gut isn't functioning properly.” ”A few at-home things you can do to improve slow transit time include: drinking more water, eating foods that are rich in fiber, exercising more, and working to improve the diet (eating more whole, nutrient-dense foods and healthy fats and eating less processed foods). Magnesium citrate can also be beneficial.” ”For many children with ADHD, persistent poo and gut problems are caused by leaky gut.” ”Leaky gut is one of the most common underlying stressors that I see in families that I work with. That's because there is a very close connection between the gut and the brain. One of the first signs of a disconnect in the brain is a gut that is not functioning well, that is because of the 2-way communication between the two.” ”Did you know that the gut is also responsible for making 70 - 90% of our serotonin and 50% of our dopamine which are our happy, feel-good neurotransmitters… in our body that helps regulate our emotions?” ”When it comes to supplementation there is no “one size fits all” approach. Supplementation should be tailored to each individual in order to address specific healing opportunities, provide support, and make up for poor food quality.”  Dana Kay Resources:

Guiding the aging process is a long-term project and I'm celebrating 11 years since I started to reverse engineer my biological age. In this episode, I break down my Functional Nutrition framework and tracking tool that will help you understand your baseline and get really clear on how you can improve your longevity strategy. In order to feel younger while growing older, you need to know what's happening inside your body and be aware of how external exposures make an impact internally. One of the simplest ways to do that in the comfort of your own home is by tracking your food, mood, and elimination via urine and bowel movements. I share tools to help you know what to look out for, like Vivoo and the Bristol Stool Scale. I also encourage all of my clients to examine their sleep quality, stress management, glucose levels, and energy levels after they exercise. There are so many effective treatments and modalities out there that can support you, but your central nervous system will override all of your efforts on an unconscious level if you don't do the emotional work first. If you haven't already, listen to Episode 8 - Making Peace with Your Past and use that as a launching point.  Listen in to learn more about my healing journey and methodologies that have helped guide the way. If you are enjoying these conversations, please subscribe and spread the love by leaving a review and sharing it with your friends.Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn, or on your favorite podcast platform. Topics Covered:Why you should care about the hallmarks of aging What I suggest doing before paying for extensive genetic and biometric testing Reflecting back on my life when I was really struggling with stress management Why it's important to hone in on your fasting glucose levels Understanding when your movement routine is too intense Exploring solutions outside of the conventional model Resources Mentioned:If you would like my list of lab recommendations or my health marker tracker, email dana@danafrost.comEpisode 48 - Urine Tracking with the Vivoo App. Use the code Vital30 for 30% off first purchase at vivoo.io Check out Lara Adler on InstagramGet in Touch: My WebsiteInstagramSpecial offers: Thanksgiving week giveaway: The first person to create an IG post or story and include #feelingyoungergrowingolder with a comment about what that means to them, tag @danafrost will receive a sleeve of 30 LifeWave Aeon anti-inflammatory patches which decrease inflammation, pain, and emotional triggers at the speed of light.Download the Daily Vitality eBook at danafrost.com/daily-vitality/Credit:Podcast Production by the team at The Wave PodcastingMusic by Phoebe GreenlandPhotography by Amy Boyle PhotographyPodcast art by SimplyBe. You know, your internal banana hammock that no one thinks about nearly as much as they should?  Dr. Jeffrey-Thomas talks about her COVID pivot to spreading accurate information to the masses via TikTok and Instagram, and how she is able to approach pelvic health from a more holistic standpoint with her co-worker and surgeon, Dr. Angel Johnson.  Your pelvis holds A LOT OF STUFF, and synchronicity is more important than you think. Amanda gets the scoop on hovering over a public (or any) toilet seat, peeing in the shower, kegels -- which may not be the answer you need, why am I leaking (am I leaking?), and what in God's name is the Bristol Stool Scale? With great knowledge comes great responsibility about how your body works; you are going to be thinking about this all week.  Follow the Pelvic Health Ladies on Instagram and TikTok  Follow Amanda on Twitter and Instagram  Follow the podcast on Instagram  Support The Missing Sock Network on Patreon   Thoughts? Yep. Here it is. Let’s dive right in ... to poop. Hippo poop. Ferret poop. Octopoop. Dogs. Cats. Yours. The charming and informative Dr. Rachel Santymire -- aka Dr. Poop -- has a background in animal physiology and endocrinology and is elbow deep in dung as a research director at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Dr. Poop sits down with Alie to talk turds and how she uses poo to determine the health and stress of wild and captive animals, plus: poop vs. poo, why some animals poop pellets, muck middens, taking glitter pills, why the Bristol Stool Scale is “the best thing in the universe,” and why the Lincoln Park Zoo has 17 freezers full of dookie. We all learned it as a kid: everybody poops. But that's kind of when we stop talking about it, outside of the occasional joke.   This topic may be uncomfortable, but it's so important for you to know what makes a healthy “poop” because it can tell you a lot about your digestion. And if your digestion is off, this could be an indication that something else is going on that you need to address.   You've probably noticed that your bowel movements can reflect your physical, and sometimes even emotional, health. You may get constipation or have diarrhea when you eat something that "doesn't agree with you," or when you're super-nervous about something.   And what about fiber and water? If you're not getting enough, it'll probably show in your poop. What about the all-important gut microbes? If they're not happy, it'll probably show in your poop.   Here are some questions to ask yourself:   How often are you going? One to three bowel movements per day = ideal. How does it feel? Assuming you didn't eat spicy street meat last night, bowel movements should be quick and painless. They shouldn't require straining, a panicked run to the toilet, or sitting long enough to do the entire New York Times crossword. What color is it? Healthy poop is brown. The color comes from bile, which emulsifies dietary fat and helps us digest it. However, you may notice some normal day-to-day changes, like green poop after eating leafy greens or red poop after eating beets. How does it smell? It's never going to smell like roses, but extremely foul-smelling poop can point to underlying issues. Does it sink or float? Healthy poop may do either, but this offers hints as to the fat (float) to fiber (sink) ratio of your diet.   Here's a trivia question for you:   Did you know there is an “official” standard for poop? I mean a university-created chart! One that is used to help diagnose conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)? It's called the Bristol Stool Scale!   Meet the Bristol Stool Scale   The Bristol Stool Scale was created at the University of Bristol in the UK in 1997, developed by Dr Stephen Lewis and Dr Ken Heaton. You can see the chart here.   The scale breaks down type of poop into seven different categories ranging, from type 1 (very constipated) to type 7 (diarrhea).   Types 1 and 2 are less than ideal.   They indicate stool that has been in the colon for a longer period of time.     This will present as constipation, and the stool will be drier, harder, and lumpier. These bowel movements are often more than 1 day apart and can be difficult to move out of the body.  Evacuation can feel incomplete, like you cannot pass any more stool, however there is still a feeling of fullness in the rectum that you cannot pass without difficulty.   If seen consistently, this could warrant further investigation by your healthcare practitioner, especially if combined with other symptoms.   Common Physical Possibilities: Lack of fat, fiber, or water in the diet.   Common Emotional Possibilities: Stress, fear, anxiety, travel (often people find it difficult to have regular bowel movements while away from home).   Common Medication Possibilities: Pain relievers, NSAIDS, antibiotics, antidepressants, anti-diarrheal, iron, calcium, and more. If you're taking a medication or supplement check the side effects to see if this could be the cause of this type of bowel movement.   Types 3 and 4 are ideal.     This stool moves easily through the digestive tract and is eliminated without difficulty. Minimal effort is required and there is minimal toilet paper required. These do not cause pain or difficulty upon elimination.   Steps to take to see more of this type of stool: Adequate hydration, electrolytes, exercise, balanced diet with plenty of vegetables for fiber, adequate fat, and regular intake of probiotics or probiotic rich foods...

Intro (0:00) News and Views (0:41) The phrase is: "Trying to get credit for things you're supposed to do." It was inspired by a profane Chris Rock bit from Bigger and Blacker. Stacy has become a big fan of Felix Gray computer glasses! They are awesome! This week our topic is all about gut health! Stacy is SO into it! We have a lot of questions about it, probably because the topic is so taboo in polite society. Genia says, "How do you tell if you have an unhealthy gut? What are the best things I can start doing now to start working on my gut health? I am very new to paleo and there is a lot of info out there. Thank you for any info or tips. Also I am slowly listening to your past podcast. What do you think are the best episodes for a newbie to listen to first?" (8:26) Don't listen to our first Mark Sisson episode where Sarah fangirled all over him. (Do listen to that!) What Do I Do After a Bad Reaction Stefani Ruper's shows are Episode 80, Episode 87, Episode 6, and Strong Woman Radio 25 Denise Minger is here and here And check out our Paleo 101 series here. At home gut health tests are in Paleo Principles and on The Paleo Mom. Gastrointestinal symptom checklist: gas bloating bleching constipation diarrhea heartburn indigestion pain or straining undigested food mucus blood in the stool (dark clotted blood. bright blood is from anal fissures probably) If you notice your digestion, there's probably something wrong. Normal frequency is 3 times per day to 3 times per week. Sarah is a fan of Dr. Jeff Leach from the Human Food Project. Stacy reminds herself that only humans are embarassed by poop this way. Compare your poop to the Bristol Stool Scale. You should consistently at level 3 or 4. Transit time test: eat something you can see in your stool like corn or sesame seeds or beets. Time from eating to pooping. Ideally between 12-48 hours. If your concerned, see a doctor. They can do more tests like stool analysis, colonoscopy, biopsy, etc. If you don't need a doctor's care, then you probably need to change your diet. Increase fruits and vegetables. It's the fiber. Increase Omega-3 fat intake. Lower saturated fat Eating fermented foods, especially wild fermented. Some nutrients help form the intestinal junctions: fiber, quercitin, burburein, zinc, and glycine. Don't get overwhelmed by feeling like you need to do everything at once! Take it steps at a time. Focus on nutrient density and everything else can follow. 00:00:00 - First up, Ryan, Abe, and Joe discuss some research showing that arctic foxes inadvertently grow herbivore-friendly gardens above their dens, making them ecosystem engineers, which is pretty freaking cool.  00:20:45 - Arctic foxes bring the produce, but we bring the drinks. This time Joe is enjoying a Sprecher Cherry Cola. Abe is all about his Fancy Pants V3 from Jessup Farm Barrel House, complete with fox logo. Ryan tries out his Spanish to describe a Vieja Compa Picante (or Spicy Old Pal) made with Dominican Bermudez Aniversario 1852 and Habanero Bitters. 00:27:45 - After reading Catching Fire (not that one) geographer Michael Medler had an idea about humans and volcanoes. A map of volcanoes in the African Rift Valley where humans first evolved suggests that maybe our first fires came from lava, allowing us to cook our food and get big brains. Also, ravens (and corvids generally) are super smart, but the Canary Islands are named after dogs. You're welcome. 01:00:18 - PaleoPOWs are a lot like volcanoes, easier to run away from than you might expect. Abe begins with a donation from Matthew J. who felt bad that his recurring payment fell out so he tosses us a lump sum. Thanks, Matthew! What's your parenting style? Shame, anger, guilt, all 3? Good for you. We welcome your form of abuse into our home. All forms of entertainment including sports are simply distractions. What's important is rarely discussed by the majority. We get into the thick of it and question why. Why do we ignore what's really significant? After this prolific philosophical question we soon have Top Dog on the phone to talk about poop. Tommy introduces TD to the Bristol Stool Scale and the results are magnificent. What was Da Vinci's reaction when he discovered a paintbrush? Very similar. If you ever have a problem with your food be sure to call 911. That's what it's for.
