Megan and Wendy are your guides as they dissect the beloved Hallmark Channel film "Summer Villa," a fan-favorite from 2016. News and Notes About "Summer Villa" First premiered on Hallmark in 2016 and then Hallmark re-aired it as part of their Summer Nights line up in 2020.  This movie was directed by Pat Kiely. Pat has 10 previous directing credits. Summer Villa was his first project for Hallmark. He's gone on to direct “Majestic Christmas” and “Christmas in My Heart” for the channel.  There are 2 screenwriters credited for this movie. Carrie Lee Wilson has just 4 writing credits. This is her one and only Hallmark movie. Other projects include “Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse” in 2015 and “College Road Trip” in 2008. According to LinkedIn, she presently is an adjunct professor teaching screenwriting 101 at Los Angeles Valley College. Also, per her LinkedIn, she is the co-writer on a project for Hallmark Media called “There's a Cake in My Future.” Emi Mochizuki appears to be Carrie's writing partner as Emi has the exact same writing credits. Related: What Did Girls Gone Hallmark think about "Surprised by Love" with Hilarie Burton? Hilarie Burton plays Terry. Hilarie has 34 acting credits including previous Hallmark movies like “Surprised by Love” and “Naughty or Nice.” She played Payton Scott in 130 episode of “One Tree Hill” as well as 25 episodes of “White Collar.” Hilarie has been absent from Hallmark for several years after being “let go” from Hallmark Media in January 2019. She says she was fired from a movie for being outspoken about the lack of diversity on set.  Victor Webster plays Matthew (or Chef Cupid, if ya nasty). Wowie Zowie Victor has a whopping 92 acting credits. We most recently saw him in “One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery.”  Related: Listen to what Girls Gone Hallmark thought about "One Bad Apple" Emorphia Margaritis plays Terry's daughter Abby. She has just 3 acting credits and “Summer Villa” appears to be the one and only movie she's been in except for one episode of a TV show called 19-2 from 2015 and a short called “Crafting for a Cure” in 2021. After “Summer Villa” Emorphia went on to study film and television at York University and Humber College. Her last project was director of a short called “Edge of Hope” from 2023. Cristina Rosato plays Matthew's sister and Terry's book agent. Cristina has an impressive 71 acting credits and this was the last project she's done for Hallmark. She's gone on to appear in shows like “A Million Little Things,” the “Party of Five” reboot, and “The Good Doctor.” Jocelin Haas plays Jean-Luc. He's a French actor with several French projects. This is his one and only Hallmark movie. Brittany Drisdelle plays Dianne. She's got a ton of acting credits including “Unlocking Christmas” which was a Hallmark Movies and Mysteries film from 2020. The movie was filmed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Watch the Trailer for "Summer Villa"

Time Management Workshop About Geneva: GENEVA CARR is best known for her portrayal of Marissa Morgan on 6 seasons of the CBS television series BULL.   Additional TV credits include Law & Order: SVU and Criminal Intent, Rescue Me, Younger, The Mysteries of Laura, Royal Pains, Elementary, The Good Wife, and Sex and the City.   Film credits include Wonder Wheel, Love and Other Drugs, Ava's possessions, It's Complicated, College Road Trip, and the upcoming Asian Persuasion. Geneva earned a 2015 Tony Nomination for Lead Actress in a Play for her performance as ‘Margery' in Broadway's Hand To God.  Additional NY theatre credits include Trevor, Just Sex, I Wanna Destroy You, Finding Claire, Rose's Dilemma, Clash by Night, Betty's Summer Vacation, and Boise.  You have to create a space where you can find work for yourself. Bull was my eighth pilot, which I like telling actors about because it doesn't happen overnight. This was my eighth. Hand to God led to Bull on CBS. I did that for six seasons. And the truth is, nobody loves to audition as much as me because it's a 30-second movie starring me right now. I love to prepare. It's like going to the gym. It's like putting on a show. And you know that for 5 minutes, you have a captive audience. Casting directors want to like you. They want to get to know you. So if you can put your nerves aside and realize that it's a real treat to be in that room. You have to watch everything ON TV.  “I don't put people on TV if they don't watch TV.” You can only be yourself. Maybe it's easier for me now because I know who I am. I'm not apologizing for who I am. I can't please everyone. But the truth is, I don't like everyone, and the more you are authentically yourself, the more you will work. If you want to build somebody up, give them an honest compliment.  I had to go back to being an actor looking for work with a whole new toolkit. The Director Tells the Story Being a costar and a guest star has zero to do with being a series regular. It is very challenging being a series regular. Costars and guest stars- savor those opportunities to learn because a series regular is really hard.

SUMMARYOur guest on this episode of Songcraft is Cinco Paul, the creator, executive producer, showrunner, and songwriter for the Apple TV Plus series Schmigadoon!, starring Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key. Though previously known as the scriptwriter for animated features such as the Despicable Me films, this project was Paul's opportunity to lovingly and very impressively recreate the songwriting style of golden era musicals with a humorously contemporary twist. He joins us to deconstruct his reconstruction of the world of Rogers and Hammerstein. PART ONEScott and Paul get into their feelings about musical theater, touch on the Beatles documentary once again, and discover they disagree about the concept of perfect rhyme in lyrics. PART TWOOur in-depth interview with Cinco PaulABOUT CINCO PAULCinco Paul is best known for his long resume of blockbuster animated films which he co-wrote with partner Ken Daurio, including the Despicable Me series, the Dr. Seuss films The Lorax and Horton Hears a Who, and The Secret Life of Pets. Other films written by the pair include The Santa Clause 2 with Tim Allen, College Road Trip with Martin Lawrence and Raven Symone, and Hop with Russell Brand. Paul and Daurio's films have earned over four billion dollars at the box office. While not primarily known as a songwriter or musician, Cinco Paul previously wrote a stage musical adaptation of their script for Bubble Boy after the Jake Gyllenhaal film version failed to live up to their original vision. Additionally, he wrote the lyrics for the original songs in The Lorax, which earned him an ASCAP award in 2013. As far as music goes, that was about all the world heard from Cinco Paul until 2021 when he appeared as the creator, executive producer, showrunner, and, perhaps most impressively, songwriter for the Apple TV Plus series Schmigadoon! The six-episode musical comedy stars Cecily Strong from Saturday Night Live and Keegan-Michael Key from Key & Peele who get lost hiking in the woods and stumble on a magical version of an early-1900s town that you'd find in a musical from the 1940s or ‘50s. Part parody, part loving tribute to golden era productions such as Oklahoma, The Music Man, Carousel, and The Sound of Music, Schmigadoon's songs are an impressive recreation of a lost era of American songwriting that skewer the tropes that haven't aged well while also celebrating what was great about that brand of songcraft. The soundtrack for Episode 1 earned Paul his first Grammy nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

The moment you add an event to your calendar titled “Dylan & Dad’s College Road Trip” you know that emotions are going to be a bit messy. Not as messy as last week when an entire week worth of Senior events was added including one titled “Dylan Graduates.” We even had to go and buy him his first suit since he now has a date to his senior prom Yes, my not so little boy is nearing the end of his mandatory education and headed into the next phase of his life. He isn’t the only one growing up. Emily went to the junior prom this week. My little girl is now a young woman. When did that happen? As a parent, you live for milestones. They break your heart, but also make you smile. We joke about the changes coming to our family, and for the most part, all I do is smile about them. But, at the same time that I know this is a natural progression for a family, I know that it is going to hit me harder than I want it to. I think back to the night I left my parents house to move to Virginia. I know how hard that was for me and now I’m beginning to understand how hard it must have been for them. Funny how many things come into focus once you become a parent. A number of little things you took for granted that are now of vital importance. While in my heart I’m mostly sad about the changes ahead, I’m also extremely excited by them. Every day I’m reminded that Laura and I have done a good job raising these kids to be the adults we hoped they’d grow up to become. Who knows what lies ahead for each of them, but I’m excited to see. noC.C. Chapmanmarketing, public, relations, management,pr,media, new, media, business, cgc, consumer, sec
