Dara Kurtz after being diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 42, left her 20 year career as a financial advisor to focus on writing, speaking and podcasting to help people through her experiences. Today, her personal blog, Crazy Perfect Life reached over 200,000 followers. Dara has been a guest on over 60 podcast, TV radio shows. And her latest book is “I Am My Mother's Daughter”, wisdom of life, loss and love there. His goal is to use her life experiences to help people strengthen their relationships and create more happiness and joy in their everyday lives.    Dara is a mom with two gorgeous daughters, one is currently studying in college and the other one has just graduated. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and has been married for almost 30 years.    In this episode, we dive deep into acknowledging deeply buried feelings to allow yourself to grieve, daily tools to help you navigate life and how to process guilt of enjoying life while remembering the people you lost. Dara also shared about being pregnant while knowing her Mother has stage 4 cancer, reading the bag of letters written by her Mom and Grandmother, and how she remembers the people she lost through reliving what they love doing.   “I think sometimes we're afraid to talk about the past, we're afraid to talk about people that we've lost because it hurts, it's painful. But most of the time people really want to talk about people what they've lost. They want to share. It feels good when we open up space and we give ourselves permission to do that. It's really a way to not only connect the past with the present, but also to feel that loss but also to remember the good times and count the blessings and feel joyful for what we had. And I think what's really important is to focus on what you had, not what you lost.” - Dara Kurtz   Learn More About: What Grieving do to help you show up and serve others The Types of Loss “Happiness Contract” Dara's Book: “I Am My Mother's Daughter”   Connect with Dara: Instagram: @crazyperflife Website: https://crazyperfectlife.com   Buy her book here: https://www.amazon.com/Am-My-Mothers-Daughter-Wisdom/dp/1942134657/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=i+am+my+mothers+daughter+Dara+kurtz&qid=1588793823&sr=8-1 Join Harmonious Hormones Program HERE: https://www.nazgrimley.com/harmonious-hormones/ Connect with me:  Instagram: @nazgrimley Website: www.nazgrimley.com  Linktree: linktr.ee/cincofn   Book FREE date with Naz call here: https://calendly.com/fitwithnaz/self-love-date-with-naz   Download your free Cycle Syncing Guide here: https://wondrous-hustler-7902.ck.page/cc547ed3e7

This is the first week with the puppy "Clover." Then later we chat with the Dara Kurtz. Author of the book "I am my Mothers Daughter: Wisdom on Life, Loss, and Love." https://crazyperfectlife.com/ When Dara Kurtz was twenty-eight years old, her mother died of cancer. This loss, and the loss of her grandmothers, was so painful that for decades she was afraid to re-read their letters to her, which she kept in a ziploc bag at the bottom of a drawer. Meanwhile, she went on with her life as a wife and mother—and a cancer survivor. One day, longing for contact with the strong women who had loved and raised her, she re-read the letters. They brought back beautiful family memories and taught her many life lessons; they caused her to reflect on the priceless love between mothers and daughters and how wisdom and traditions can be passed on from one generation to the next. Dara's story inspires us to strengthen the bonds between mothers and daughters, to remember family traditions, to let go of the pain of loss, and to make the most of each day of our lives.

Today's guest is Dara Kurtz; she's a writer, speaker, podcaster, and blogger of "Crazy Perfect Life" and shares her wisdom on life, loss, and love. She discusses why we should take a hard look at what's important in our lives. Dara's secret to having a happy life is living fully and loving deeply. Her mom's death held her back for a long time, and she wasn't able to make the most of her life or relationships because she didn't want to risk getting hurt again. Dara shows us the importance of opening our hearts, letting people in, and why we can't live life to our best ability if we worry about what might happen. Dara also encourages us to go for anything we want because what's the worst that can happen?  Dara Kurtz is a wife and mother, and at the age of 42 she was diagnosed with cancer. Going through chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery changed Dara's perspective; what she thought was important wasn't so important anymore. She decided to leave her 20-year career as a personal banker and financial advisor to focus on writing. Her blog, "Crazy Perfect Life," has over 200,000 followers. She is the author of three books, Crush Cancer, The Crush Cancer Workbook, and I Am My Mother's Daughter. When Dara was 28, she lost her mother to cancer. She recently wrote a book about the letters and lessons from both her mother and grandmothers, which includes tips that can help strengthen our relationships or help us move forward in our journey in finding love. Kerry Brett and Dara Kurtz cover a lot of ground, topics include;Embrace that life isn't perfect and messy, and all you can do is the best you can.Why we need to stop reviewing regrets. How to keep the keys to your own happiness in your pocket. Why you need to stop caring or worrying about how other people are going to react to us.Why it's important to stop trying to be perfect and live a peaceful life. Why you should challenge yourself, face your fears and ask yourself the worst that can happen? If you don't push yourself and try different things, you can rob yourself of love and joy.You develop more confidence by taking risks and bringing in new experiences. We need to stop being stuck in pain and get back to the business of living. Why you need to stop putting things off and star living for today. Why we should make the of precious time with loved ones.If we close our hearts, then we are cheating ourselves on some of the best positive experiences.Count your blessings instead of your problems. You can learn to recognize and replace negative stories and decide what you want to tell yourself to believe. If you expect good things to happen, they usually do.The world can be our playground if we let it.For more information about Dara Kurtz you can find out more on www.crazyperfectlife.com  Follow on Facebook Crazy Perfect Life by Dara Kurtz and Instagram @crazyperflife.

For 20 years, Dara Kurtz had a successful career in finance. “It was based on society’s definition of success—done with dollar signs and size of house.”  At age 42, the words “you have cancer” stopped her dead in her tracks.  “After that I changed. I decided I [didn’t] want to go back. [Finance] didn’t speak to my heart.” Despite resistance from her husband, Kurtz quit her job and began to write a blog. “I didn’t know what I was doing....I didn’t know how to get from point A to point B.”  Kurtz had always been a journal writer, penning her thoughts about the day to her daughters and placing her journal on their pillows to read. They would write back.  “Going through breast cancer, that stopped. None of us were in that space to communicate,” she says.  Years later she rediscovered the journals tucked away in a desk drawer. Also uncovered, a Ziplock bag of letters from her mom and grandmother.  “I was blown away by how much wisdom they contained. I had a conversation with my mom 20 years after her death. I sat and sobbed... I could feel her personality and hear her words….I knew after reading those, she would have never wanted me to be stuck in grief or let her death impact my life. It was permission to go on with my life.” From that insight, her second book, “I Am My Mother’s Daughter: Wisdom on Life, Loss, and Love” was born. (https://amzn.to/3qkV0pY)

When Dara Kurtz was in her late twenties, she was excited. Excited about being pregnant. She was also devastated. Devastated that her mother was recently diagnosed with stage IV cancer. As Dara’s baby grew, Dara’s mother grew closer to the end of her life. Two weeks after Dara’s daughter was born, her mother died – sweeping Dara into a whirlwind of diametrically opposed emotional states: the thrill of being a new mother and the heartbreak of being a grieving daughter. Decades later, Dara rediscovered a collection of letters and cards from her mother. In those letters she also rediscovered just how connected she is still is to her mother. The letters inspired her new book, I Am My Mother’s Daughter: Wisdom on Life, Loss, and Love.   To learn more visit Crazy Perfect Life and find Dara on Facebook (@crazyperfectlife) & Instagram (@crazyperflife).

I am overjoyed to share this conversation on life, loss, and love with Dara Kurtz, author of I Am My Mother's Daughter. Dara and her book ooze love, compassion, and the wisdom gained through the trials and tribulations of life. Dara shares what it was like to lose her Mom at the age of 28 due to cancer as the was about to give birth to her first born, then receive her own cancer diagnosis at the age of 42 as a mother with two adolescent girls, and survive and reflect on both overwhelming and life-altering experiences. Dara speaks about the journey through one's grief, experiencing guilt as both a mother and a daughter, the experience of suppressing emotion and the freedom found in giving herself permission to feel what seemed easier to bury deep within, and evolving the experience of co-dependent relationships within one's family. This conversation reminds us of the importance of having honest conversations with ourselves and the ones we love, the value of tuning in and trusting ourselves, and the gifts that occur when we allow ourselves to heal. Dara's desire to share her story inspires us to appreciate our own journey and encourages us to appreciate where we came from and what we're creating as we connect to the present moment.
