From Exodus to Easter: The Lost Plant Medicine of the Bible In this episode of the Roots to Riches podcast, we delve into the fascinating topic of Kaneh Bosm, a term found in Exodus 30:22-25, which many scholars, including Hebrew etymologist Sula Benet, believe refers to cannabis. I, Justin Benton, your host, explore the historical and linguistic evidence suggesting that cannabis was a key ingredient in the holy anointing oil used by Moses and Jesus. We discuss how the mistranslation of Kaneh Bosm to "calamus" in the Greek Septuagint has obscured this truth for centuries. This episode is particularly timely as it coincides with Easter, a period of resurrection and rediscovery. We reflect on how Jesus, the anointed one, used this sacred oil in his healing ministry, emphasizing the holistic and earthy practices of the early church.I also touch on the modern wellness and plant medicine movement, advocating for a return to natural healing methods that align with ancient wisdom. Our mission is to reach a billion people by 2025, promoting both natural and spiritual healing.Throughout the episode, I encourage listeners to question traditional narratives, seek the truth, and consider the profound implications of rediscovering Kaneh Bosm. We conclude with a call to action, inviting listeners to share this knowledge and join us in our mission to heal the world. Ask this Episode anything! In today's episode, I'm diving into a topic that's both close to my heart and foundational to how I approach this work: the widespread demonisation of avoidant attachment — and why we need to stop doing it.It's all too common, especially in online spaces, for people (often those with anxious attachment) to project blame, anger, and sweeping judgments onto those with avoidant attachment styles. But while that instinct may feel validating in the short term, it actually keeps us stuck. This episode is a call for compassion and nuance — not just for others, but for ourselves.Whether you've been hurt by someone with avoidant tendencies in the past or are currently struggling with anxious-avoidant dynamics, this conversation will invite you to take a broader, more honest look at the patterns playing out in your relationships and what healing really requires. In this episode, I cover:Why avoidant attachment is so often misunderstood and unfairly vilifiedHow our instinct to blame keeps us stuck in insecure patternsThe deeper origins of avoidant attachment — and how understanding this helps build compassionWhy anger, blame, and black-and-white thinking won't help you healThe role of boundaries, discernment, and self-responsibility in moving forwardIf you're committed to growing into a more secure, grounded version of yourself, this episode is an invitation to pause and reflect on the narratives you're holding — about others, and about yourself.Highlighted Resources Save 30% on Healing Anxious Attachment - this week only! Resources to help you with the Change in Seasons:Here are a few of the resources we share in this episode:The Work by Byron KatieEmbracing Change with the Apple Tree Cycle podcast episode with Rita ReddyGrounding MeditationInfinite Universe MeditationCreative Manifesting Workshop MeditationMini Retreats and our new sessions of Past-Life Healing, Multigenerational Healing, and Creative Manifesting Sessions (upcoming).Acceptance and Gratitude ease ChangeOne of the biggest helps for us is simply acceptance of the changes each season brings. This includes changes in the seasons of our lives too! Taking a few moments to stop resisting the change before us and accepting that it is happening provides a big relief. so much energy can go into resisting a change!Trying to control the outcome of the change and transition can wear us out. But the beautiful thing is that this extra energy all can come back to you in a moment of presence and grounding. Try our Grounding Meditation on Insight Timer to help you catch your breath.Manage your Energy rather than your TimeThe change of season invites reflection and going deeper into your spiritual work. This includes having a moment to review and revise your self-care routine to ensure you are recharging your energy throughout your day and week so you can keep up with your busy schedule.Focus on routines that help your thrive. Even a few moments of self-care will help you manage the shift of routine. Reiki and meditation are wonderful because they give you a massive dose of energy in just a few minutes. Try our Self-Healing Meditation to give yourself a quick five-minute boost anytime of day.Nature helps us to HealThe grounding and rooting energy of the fall helps you plan and prepare. If brings you back to your root chakra and emphasizes what makes you feel safe and secure. Sometimes this energy also can bring up old mucky stuff and emotion. If this happens for you around this time of year, that's okay. It's perfectly normal to feel this way. Be very gentle and kind to yourself when you're in any kind of transition.Give yourself extra rest if you need it. Let go of things you no longer need, including any harmful, self-critical thoughts or patterns of worry. One helpful resource for this is the gentle questioning of your thoughts with The Work by Byron Katie. This is a journalling process that lets you become curious about what thoughts are helping you and which you can let drop, just like the leaves of fall. The Magic of the In-BetweenThe middle point of a transition like the change in seasons, is also a prime time for manifesting. It's like the normal rules loosen their grip on you for a few weeks and in the middle times, when things are neither here nor there, you have access to a towering energy field of pure potential energy. If you find yourself in the in-between, you might really like two of our meditations, the Creative Manifesting Workshop Meditation and the Manifesting Miracles Meditation. What does music mean to you? There is something powerful about how healing and cathartic the act of creating or listening to music can be. In this episode of From Survivor to Thriver, we had the privilege of sitting down with the hosts of our sister podcast, The Rocky Road Podcast, Kristin Ransom and Mandy Siess to talk about the healing power of sharing stories, the science behind our deep connection with music, and the catharsis found in melodies. Kristin Ransom and Mandy Siess are the proud co-hosts of The Rocky Road Podcast, a space for others to share their stories of growth and resilience. Between the two of them, Kristin and Mandy's life chapters include divorce, intimate partner violence, church hurt, single parenthood, adoption, and a bevy of other experiences that have shaped them into the still-healing but always-helping women they are today. Nowadays, Kristin is a music therapist and Mandy owns a mobile coffee trailer. The two have been friends for years and hope to continue along the journey of helping others through the rocky roads of life by providing space to heal together through storytelling. Living in a society that encourages unhealthy masculinity creates a society that suppresses feminine energy, which is the energy of surrender, of trust, of nourishment, of intuitive knowing. We are living in a time now where the masculine and feminine energies that exist within us individually and collectively are being awakened and balanced.Especially over the last few years, we've grown aware of the unhealthy, wounded, toxic masculine traits that have driven us towards disconnection and depletion. We've begun to experience the rise of feminine energy, as we grow called to let go of the need to control, of the need to know it all, and rest in the present moment. This conversation, with our special guest Justin Tristao, gifts us clarity revolving healthy and unhealthy masculinity. We expand on the healing and awakening journey of both the masculine and feminine, and the responsibilities we have as individuals in this journey of healing and awakening.Topics we touch on include: The gratitude of healthy masculines & femininesThe masculine-favored society we live inBlockages that manifest in the unhealthy masculineLife changes that we experience as we begin to healThe importance of safe spacesTaking responsibility for our healingPerpetuating generational cyclesHow children are great teachersRegulating your nervous system/emotionsFollow Justin On InstagramPrivate Mentorship with JustinSubscribe To Justin's Mailing ListSupport the showThank you for bringing this podcast into your present moment and thank you for consciously listening! The first step in healing is to awaken to the fact that we need to heal. We often go through life ignoring our pain, medicating it, and coping with it. When we awaken to the fact that we have deep pain and wounds that need to heal and see that we are worthy of healing, everything begins to change. In this first episode of The Healing Journey series, we look at the first stage of the healing journey, which is awakening to our need to heal, that we are worthy of healing, and that we have the power to heal. In this episode, we take a look at the following:That there are no "rules" on how we healThe importance of self-compassionThe 5 A's of the healing journeyAwakening our desire to healSee that we are worthy of healingWhy do we sometimes get stuck on the journeyThings that help awaken us to our need to healI hope that this episode serves you in your awakening process to see how worthy you are of a beautiful life. Have you heard of intermittent fasting? It's the practice of switching between fasting and eating on a regular schedule. While most people think of it in terms of the physical effects, it can also positively impact your mental health. In this episode of From Survivor to Thriver, we sat down with Fred Rutman who has died and come back to life numerous times. This brought serious physical and mental health challenges for him but he found healing through intermittent fasting. Fred Rutman known as “Repeatedly Dead Fred”, has had 11 heart procedures in 11 years, been clinically dead dozens of times, suffered dozens of concussions, PTSD, Post-concussion syndrome, brain trauma, defective pacemakers, and botched surgeries. To put the icing on the cake, you can throw in multiple incidences of cognitive medical bias and misdiagnoses. Through it all, his faith and belief/practice of Judaism was rocked to the core. He also discovered the most powerful prophylactic medicinal tool we have - Intermittent Fasting. If we are supposed to make lemonade out of life's lemons, then he is making the best lemonade ever produced. In today's episode we cover: Fred's health journeyThe Lazarus EffectHow social anxiety impacted his lifeThe cost of men not speaking up about mental health issuesThe problem with our education systemsWhy learning something new helps with brain trauma The power of intermittent fastingHow it helps your body healThe importance of mindful eatingHow Fred's mental health has improvedWe hope you enjoyed our conversation with Fred. Could the vulnerable also be seen as the environment?“The industrialized world's failure to mount a meaningful response to climate change is itself a symptom of collective trauma, rooted in patterns of exploitation handed down over generations.”“People who suffered early adversity often resort to self-medicating their pain to society's pursuit of endless, fossil fuel-powered economic growth.”“Could politicians' apparent paralysis in response to the threat mirror the way individuals with significant trauma may go emotionally numb, or avoid potential triggers, rather than acknowledge their deepest hurt?”The power of community to healThe power of leaders becoming trauma informedHumanity's greatest threat is also the greatest opportunity#climatechange #climatecrisis #collectivetraumahealing #woundedleadersTo read more of Matthew's work please visit his website here: https://matthewgreenjournalism.com/To join the Resonant World email list on Substack: https://m--- Piers is an author and a men's transformational coach and therapist who works mainly with trauma, boarding school issues, addictions and relationship problems. The dynamic between the Empath and the Narcissist is a common one, unfortunately, but there are reasons why this dynamic exists. In this episode, Wendy gives an energetic explanation of why taking responsibility for our own healing as sensitive, empathic, and intuitive beings heal our relationship with empaths but also opens the door to our primal and collective wounds within the feminine nature of our bodies (no matter your gender). In other words, what underlies the dynamic between the narcissist and empath is a path to healing your 2nd chakra. In this episode you will learn:Why normalizing that we have wounds opens the door to deeper healingThe patterns and dynamics between the empath and the narcissistHow these patterns may have formed out of primal wounds in the 2nd chakraHow the empath and narcissist relate to the wounded feminine and wounded masculine that we are all here to healThe true nature of your 2nd chakra power and how healing this power center heals your relationshipsHow the importance of vulnerability, emotions, truth, transparency, and responsibility heal the 2nd chakra. To order a copy of Becoming an Empowered Empath, join my email list and receive a free guided meditation visit: https://wendyderosa.com/

This isn't true!! There has never been any study showing a high protein diet will harm our kidneys. We look into the mechanism of increased urea production with a high protein diet and also look into the science for why people with kidney disease are placed on a low protein diet. Spoiler, the "science" is bogus! If you're interested in learning more about protein and kidney health, listen to this week's podcast. 节目组:The World Says 世界说节目名称:what affects our health in modern societyV: Good evening everyone, I'm value.E: hi, dear audience, this is Elvis.G: hello, it's Georgia here.V: You know what, a study shows that our daily life is surrounded with so many electronics now. As a result, it becomes a fact that affects our health.E: yep, I really agree with that. Although I think electronics are very important to me. G: So can you guys list some facts why they do harm to our health?V: Of course, for example, trouble sleeping isn't helped by a smart phone buzzing through the night because you forgot to set it to silent and that is only the tip of the iceberg. Even if you seem to get enough sleep during the night, using bright electronics like phones, tablets, and e-readers right before bed can really mess with your body.E:对了,哈佛医学院做了一项研究,让人们连续五天在睡前阅读一本真正的书,接着换成连续5天睡前使用iPad。在iPad上阅读后人们更难以入睡。一旦他们真的睡着后,他们会经历更少的快速眼动睡眠期并因此在早晨更没精神。On a cellular level, participants who used an iPad before bed were found to have delayed the release of the sleep hormone melatonin by around 90 minutes.V: The specific kind of light given off by electronic devices confuses our internal clock by affecting the circadian pacemakers in our brains. According to PEW Research, 61 percent of Americans aged 18–29 reported keeping their cellphones next to the bed. 如果你确实在睡前需要什么学习工具,放下手机,选择像kindle之类的原始的东西吧,它不会发出光线。 G:Actually, I always do that in order not to miss updates, calls, or texts during the night.V: ha-ha~ that's you, George!E: I think it's very important for us to keep a good mood. Anger may also affect our health indeed. We must learn to suppress it.V: yes, you're right.Being unwilling to engage in a constructive argument about something that's bothering you can wreak havoc on your health. Holding in anger increases stress, which in turn shortenslifespans. E: There is such a thing as healthy anger and it can be an effective coping mechanism. Anger is also an adaptive trait that can encourage risk-taking. On the other side, chronic anger expressed in explosive bursts is linked to high blood pressure, a weak immune system, strokes, cancer, heart disease, and digestive issues. 密歇根大学的一项研究发现抑制住怒气的夫妇比针对问题吵架的夫妇有更高的死亡率。G: WOW, that's amazing. Learning to manage anger and conflict effectively is vital to our health, but many people don't understand how to deal with their anger.V: They repressing it and effectively punishing themselves for their feelings. Psychologists say that it is not uncommon for people to experience low self-esteem because they deal with anger ineffectively—which can in turn have disastrous consequences for relationships, work performance and mental health.E:Oh my god, what's that noise?! My ears are exploded! I just want to say another factor that affects our health is noise pollution. V:Obviously, a sudden loud noise could damage your hearing, 那么每天包围我们的持续不断的噪音呢?旋转的硬盘,过往的车辆,远处的警报器,回旋的风扇——在现代社会里几乎不可能逃离噪音污染。 Every year, around 30 million Americans are exposed to dangerous levels of noise aspart of their job. But even people who don't experience occupational noise hazards suffer from second hand noise pollution.G: Hearing loss can lead to communication issues, discrimination, poor performance at work and school, loneliness, and depression.E: Low-frequency sounds can have a direct effect on health. People living in areas with elevated noise levels have correspondingly high levels of stresshormones, and the WHO has warned that noise pollution is a risk factor in developing heart disease.V: Studies have also shown that high levels of noise can badly impact young children, having a significant negative effect on cognitive performance.噪音污染也能引起高血压、失眠、呼吸困难、心血管问题、提高心率、甚至引起大脑变化。E:还有人因为工作压力大引起身体不适,其实适度工作是很重要的,并且健康的选择中包含了工作与休息的平衡。E:Hello my dear audience, welcome back to the world says from the VOE foreign language station. I'm Elvis, here is my partner, Georgia and Value.G: Good evening everyone. I'm GeorgiaV: Hi, honey, I'm Value.E: You know, George, I want to say that you are always having roses in your cheeks. Congratulations.G: Oh! Thanks! You are sweet.E: Well, pleasure~V: Wow, It's always so tired to be your partner.(无力的)E: Why? Everybody knows that I am a gentleman.V: Come on, you'd better look into the mirror.E: Oh, that's really a bad evaluation. Oh, Value, you ... you just hurt me. You are so... Oh, George help me please.V: Oh! I am so sorry for that.(夸张的)E: Well, take it easy. Okay...the routine game stop here, let's come back to our topic.G: 你总算想起来了...(幽幽的语气)E: Well, George, e...you know, today is a good day.(底气不足的)G:Okay...Everything in moderation, as the old adage goes.As it turns out, that couldn't be more accurate, aresearch continues to shed light on how the modern world is damaging our healthE:老话说得好,凡事都有个度。事实证明,这句话十分准确,研究正持续揭露出现代社会是如何伤害我们的健康的.We might be living longer today than our ancestors did, but the currentera isn't as health-friendly as we might think.V: So...What's hell that damaged our health?(气愤的)E: Attention to your words!G: Oh, Elvis! You know, Value, Feeling Guilty Can Damage Your HealthE: Just as you hurt me then you will be guilty, and your health will be damaged.G: Sounds like that~Well...Every January, people around the world resolve to leave their bad habits behind and embarkon a journey of self-improvement as the new year begins. Then, a few weeks later, everyone starts to feel a little guilty for not following through.E: Yep, 每年1月,全世界的人们都决心丢下他们的坏习惯并且在新年伊始时开始一场自我提升的旅程。接着,几周以后,每个人都会为没能做到而开始感到些许愧疚。G:But while a little guilt can encourage someone to make positive changes, too much guilt is a different story.E: Can you talk more about that?G:Feeling guilty isn't just unpleasant—it could be causing damage to your immune system. Researchers from Hull University found that people who felt guilty about their favorite activities had decreased levels of the antibody in their saliva.E: Wow! I get it.真没想到身体健康和愧疚感还有关联,所以...还有什么是我们需要注意的么?G: Of course! There are lots of things that we should pay attention to, such as sleeping.E: Sleeping?G: Yes. Do you know that lacking of sleeping will damage your health?E: What? I think everyone will be anxious about their health when they hear about this.G:Right.Infact, men with chronic insomnia who sleep less than six hours per night are substantially more likely to die young than normal sleepers. In one study,51.1 percent of male insomniacs were dead within 14 years, as opposed to just 9.1 percent of regular sleepers.E:也就是说有51.1%的男性失眠症患者在14年内死亡,与此相对照的是只有9.1%拥有正常睡眠的人死亡。Wow, that's really a horrific state. G: So... you wanna stay up ever more?E: Come on. I just want to live longer.G:what are you doing value?V: I'm watching a documentary of the life of a koala. G: a koala? Wow, it's so cute! I wish someday I can go to Australia and see koalas by myself.V: yep, there are so many unique animals in Australia, such as koala, kangaroo and platypus.G: oh, platypus! they are really a kind of magical animal, It has webbed feet and a large, rubbery snout; these features appear closer to those of a duck than to those of any known mammal.V: yes, so interesting right? Australia just like the variety of animals in the country, freely and Multivariate.E: wow, sounds like Australia is a good place to visit?G: of course, Australia is a land of exceptional beauty, many of its world-renowned attractions are specific, such as the great barrier reef, ayers rock, kakadu national park, and Sydney opera house.V: but if I want to visit Australia during my vacation, should I be careful of some Cultural differences?G: oh it doesn't matter. The culture of Australia is essentially a western culture influenced by the unique geography of the Australian continent. So Australia is a Immigrant country of multiple cultures. V: oh by the way, you gay must go to Australia on your winter vocation. By then, is the summer in Australia, the most charming season in the country.E: 说了这么多,Georgia, value,你们可以详细的为我们介绍澳洲的旅游业,tourism吗?G:Tourism is an important industry for the Australian economy. In the financial year 2010/11, the tourism industry represented 2.5% of Australia's GDP at a value of approximately A $35 billion to the national economy. V:For the year ending April 2015, there was 7.1 million visitor arrivals. Wow it's a big Digital, isn't it? Then let us introduce you some famous visitors attractive.G: ok, first you can't miss The Great Barrier Reef . The Great Barrier Reef attracts up to two million visitors every year. Careful management, which includes permits for camping and all commercial marine tourism within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, has so far ensured that tourists have a very minimal impact on the reef.V: Uluru, Kakadu National Park and Fraser Island are major natural attractions. Another Destination is Hervey Bay . it is a popular tourist town with ample opportunities for whale watching, although there are plenty of other places along the Australian coastline to see whales. G: then you must appreciate some big cities like Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne. Nearly half the people live in Sydney and Melbourne.V: do you guys know Sydney opera house? Shopping and casinos are a major drawcard for wealthy Chinese visitors. Wine, indigenous culture and nature tourism also generate travel in Australia. G: yes, value you get the point. While Chinese go visiting mainly focus on shopping, we actually need a place to relax our tired heart.E:没错,旅游的确是为了放松自己,不过话说回来,Australia is rich in minerals and developed agriculture. You guys do want to say something about that?G:in pastoral, you can see crowds of sheep and cows everywhere. As a result, Australia is called the country riding on the sheep's back. V: animal husbandry productions and its expot play a dominate role in GDP. And Australia is the world's largest exporter of beef and wool. G: Not only that, lanolin, which has a good effect on skin moisture, cashmere ouilt, which is very soft, warm in winter and cool in summer, all of those products are extremely popular around the world.V: well, thanks for Georgia and Elvis, this is all the programs for today. G:感谢制作武晓鹏。See you next week, good bye.E:bye.节目监制:吴渝播音:王柳 王嵩云 周宸聿编辑:王柳 王嵩云 周宸聿制作:武晓鹏
People going through addiction recovery deal with feelings of shame, guilt, and unworthiness that no one else can understand unless they've gone through a similar situation. However, if someone comes to them at their level, they can automatically pull some of that shame away. This is where peer specialists can help people through addiction treatment and recovery. Today's guest is Kabir Singh, the CEO and Founder of Fresh Start Recovery Center and the Chief Operating Officer for Amatus Health. He talks about his journey through recovery and how he's also helping others get the treatment they need and find healing in the process, all with human connection at its core.Kabir began gravitating towards substance abuse at an early age, not realizing he had a need for help that went unnoticed. Struggling at school, he always felt he wasn't good enough and that he couldn't measure up. He thought resorting to substance abuse was the only thing he was capable of doing. After getting a DUI three times throughout his life, he finally entered into the halls of recovery at 34 years old. He learned about his disease, about his addicted mind, and what drove and fueled his addiction. In 2013, he became one of the first certified peer recovery specialists in the state of Maryland. In this episode, he talks about his role as a peer specialist, who can become one, how to be certified, how they're different from counselors and therapists, and the value they provide to people struggling with substance abuse disorder.Ultimately, it's by bringing humaneness to our connection that people heal. When we find ourselves in extreme pain, we don't know if we still have anything to give. Healing is all about reminding each other of our value and that we all have something to offer the world. In this episode, you will hear:Kabir's road to addiction and recoveryHow he became a CPRSWhat peer recovery specialists do The advantages of a peer groupWhy peer intervention is very helpful in helping people healThe need for self-care as a peer specialistKey Quotes:[11:23] - "There are multiple pathways to recovery, and that's what the peer movement is about.”[11:44] - "My heart was always in the right place. But my thinking was not."[17:08] - "I entered into the halls of recovery, learned about the disease... I learned about my addicted mind, what drove and fueled the addiction."[22:55] - "You do not have to be a person in recovery, and you can be what's considered an ally to recovery."[24:59] - "We're all on the same level in the group."[25:36] - "When you have a therapist and a client, there is this kind of hierarchical, unspoken structure there."[28:26] - "You already feel so much shame, you're already in the hospital, and this person comes to you at your level, automatically pulls some of that shame away."[30:26] - " What a better way to reach folks than to bring down all those walls of inequality and level out the playing field."[33:42] - "More often than not, we are in recovery. And it's very important that we as peers, and I as a peer, do the work I need to do on myself outside so that I don't mix up the two."[35:56] - "The greatest sign of strength is asking for help."Subscribe and ReviewHave you subscribed to our podcast?
