Derek White of Ascot Resources joins us to talk about the milestone achievement of pouring their first gold at the Premier Gold Project in British Columbia. The pour happened as part of the mill's commissioning phase. The construction phase is coming to an end, and the operations are starting, although there are still some hurdles to overcome. The company plans to continue pushing mining development and commissioning the mill in the coming months. The goal is to achieve commercial production in Q3 of 2024. The first gold pour is a significant milestone, and the team is working towards fine-tuning the systems and getting everything working smoothly.
The 4 year/ $135 million extension for Jrue Holiday comes as a bit of a surprise to The Sports Machine with Slim. Why now? That is the first question I asked upon hearing the news. There are only 3 games left in the regular season. Why not just wait until the season is over and then give him the extension? Maybe the Celtics brass were afraid that Jrue would have a ridiculously good playoff run and then be in position to demand a much more expensive contract? That seems unlikely. On this team, it will be hard for Jrue to stand out with huge numbers offensively. There are just too many scoring options. Today on The Sports Machine with Slim, we dig in a bit deeper. Maybe the Celtics leadership team needed this long to make sure they knew Jrue is a hard worker and a good teammate? I guess that's possible - but they weren't able to tell that a month or two ago? That gives me some concern, because it has been obvious to anyone watching the Celtics this year that Jrue Holiday is a stud who is willing to do whatever is necessary to help his team win. That's the player he has been for years. I have a different theory on why the Celtics decided now is the right time to give Jrue that contract extension. Wyc and gang want every player in that locker room to know that Jrue Holiday is somebody who is gonna be here for a long time. When Jrue speaks in the huddle during the playoffs, the players on the team need to know that the voice they are hearing is someone who is 100% pure unadulterated Celtic. With a team packed full of NBA all-star talent, whose voice is going to be the loudest when times get tough? Will it be Jayson Tatum's? He is our best player, but he isn't a loud talker. Will it be Al Horford? He is the veteran everyone wants to win for, plus Al has been here for years, but he isn't necessarily a loud talker either. And he many times won't even be on the court at the end of a close game. Derek White is a great member of the team, but in crunch time I don't think players on this Celtics team are going to look for him to be the man who brings us to the promised land. Same goes for Kristaps Porzingus. That leaves us with Jrue Holiday and Jaylen Brown. Jaylen Brown has the largest contract in NBA history, with a 5 years, $304 million deal that kicks in next year. But Jaylen also has a history of chocking in big games. Let's just look at Tuesday night's loss at Milwaukee. Brown was 7-19 from the field. 0-6 from three. He also had 5 turnovers. This has been a recurring them for him. In Game 7 vs Miami last year, he was 8-23 from the field, 1-9 from three. AND he had 8 TURNOVERS! Jrue Holiday needs to have the loudest voice during the playoffs. He is the man who was won a title before. He is the guy that other players need to shut up and listen to when times get tough. And he is the man Celtics fans want to be in charge of making decisions at the end of big games. Celtics fans want this. And the folks making decisions at the executive level for the Celtics want this too. That's why they signed him to the contract extension.

Dive into the heart of Boston sports with Rayshawn Buchanan and Michael Marcangelo in the latest episode of "Missing the Point - A Sports Podcast." In this MTP Boston Series installment, the hosts kick off with a candid discussion about the New England Patriots' recent loss to the Miami Dolphins, dissecting quarterback Mac Jones' performance with a critical eye. The gloves come off as they address the perceived talent disparity affecting the Patriots and the challenges it poses in playing "mistake-free football." The spotlight intensifies as Ray and Mike delve into player specifics, from Mac Jones to Jaylen Ramsey, Max, and Kyle Duggar. No punches are pulled as they label the Patriots' offensive line as "trash," sparking a conversation about potential player unloading, trades, and drafting strategies. Could a trade with the Minnesota Vikings be in the cards? They explore the possibilities, pinning their hopes on the Patriots' development and growth for future seasons. But fear not; the mood lightens as the duo pivots to the Boston Celtics. Positivity radiates as they praise the team's unexpectedly deadly offense, spotlighting star players Porzingis, Tatum, and Brown, with a special shoutout to Derek White. However, not all is sunshine and rainbows, as concerns about the bench's performance linger. The hosts strategize on-air, discussing the need for additional players to boost bench scoring and elevate competitiveness in the future. The episode crescendos with bold predictions—Ray and Mike foresee the Celtics soaring to a 5-0 record, or at worst, a respectable 4-1 by the next discussion. The optimism is palpable, setting the stage for a thrilling journey through the highs and lows of Boston sports. Welcome to Missing the Point, where we dive into the drama and storylines of the ongoing NBA playoffs. In this episode, we focus on the Boston Celtics vs. Atlanta Hawks series, discussing each game in detail. From the mix of everything that could have gone wrong for the Celtics in Game 3 to the alleviation of concerns in Game 4, we analyze the players' performances and lineup choices. One of the biggest concerns we discuss is the Celtics' defense or lack thereof. We delve into the need for the team to take opponents seriously and play defense to win. Marcus Smart's performance in the playoffs and his ability to step up in key moments are also highlighted. We dive into his veteran presence, intelligence, and intentional choices to increase his focus in recent years. Smart's energy and intangibles on the entire team are undeniable. We examine his impact and the strengths of the Celtics' backcourt and wings, including the unique intangibles that make Smart such a valuable asset to the team. We also discuss the difficulties opponents face when trying to handle the strength of the Celtics' backcourt, especially with the addition of Derek White's pull-up three and Malcolm Brogden's sneaky off-ball play. Our lineup discussion includes a small ball lineup featuring Tatum at the five and Brown at the four, it's effective against teams like Golden State, but not against teams with size like Philly or Milwaukee. We also touch on Robert Williams' performance in the playoffs, his load management during the regular season, and the potential effectiveness of the double-big lineup against Philadelphia. Overall, we're optimistic about the Celtics' potential and chances in the upcoming games and series. Tune in to this episode of Missing the Point for a comprehensive analysis of the Boston Celtics vs. Atlanta Hawks series and insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the players and lineups. ————- Thank you for your ongoing support.
