The modular ecosystem is still in its infancy stages. We are at the cusp of an acceleration of sovereign rollups built with Celestia underneath. This idea, while new to many, has been at the root of Celestia's roadmap since inception. In today's video we take you through everything you need to know about sovereign rollups, with a focus on Forma. We discuss how Forma has been carefully designed to leverage the unique properties of sovereign rollups, a key distinction that allows it to operate independently of traditional chains by settling directly to Celestia. We go into some of the technicals such as their custom pre-compiles and a specialized execution environment meant to handle detailed metadata and intricate interactions between NFTs. Their goal is to allow artists and onchain creators to build more nuanced and dynamic digital assets. We ask about their thoughts about using TIA as gas token and how they plan to align Forma with a broader community of over 600,000 active wallets. We were also joined by Achilleas from the Celestia team to discuss Modularium and the upcoming weekly mint cycle. We discuss how users can get involved by minting open editions (for a low mint cost such as 0.1 TIA) and why you should be paying attention to the first art and culture project built within Celestia's ecosystem...think about Art Blocks and Fidenza's for example. Whether you're a builder or a collector, understanding sovereign rollups and Forma's approach to onchain creations is relevant.

This is a public episode.

GB2RS News Sunday the 21st of January 2024 The news headlines: British Science Week is approaching Updates on the RSGB's Strategic Priorities RSGB election deadline reminder   This year's British Science Week runs from the 8th to the 17th of March with the theme of Time. This event is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of amateur radio in your local area. The RSGB has some great activity ideas you could try at your local school, Scout or Guiding group or local youth club. Go to the web page at rsgb.org/bsw and click on the activity titles to find everything you need to know to be able to run that activity. Several radio clubs from across the UK have already planned outreach activities for British Science Week and the RSGB hopes its resources will inspire you to get involved too! RSGB volunteer John Hislop, G7OHO has provided these ideas but the Society would love to add other activities to enthuse young people about wireless communication. If you have an amateur radio activity on the theme of Time that you'd like to share, or if you'd like to get involved but aren't sure how to start, please direct enquiries to the RSGB British Science Week contact, Ian Neal, M0KEO. Ian's contact details will soon be available at rsgb.org/bsw At the Discussion with the Board session at the RSGB 2023 Convention, the RSGB President, John McCullagh, GI4BWM confirmed that the Board would keep members updated regularly on progress with the new strategic priorities. Two updates have now appeared in the January and February issues of RadCom and they are also available to read on the RSGB website. These updates highlight some important activities and achievements as well as new plans, so the Society encourages every member to take the time to read them. Go to rsgb.org/strategy and choose the ‘Strategy priorities updates' option from the righthand list. Further updates are being prepared so do check back regularly or look out for them in each RadCom. You can also watch the Discussion with the Board Convention session on the RSGB's YouTube channel at youtube.com/theRSGB The deadline for applications for the one elected RSGB Board Director position and eight Regional Representative roles is Wednesday the 31st of January. Amateur radio needs a strong and active national society so don't leave it to everyone else, step forward for one of these roles and play your part in the future of the RSGB. You'll find guidance and candidate forms on the RSGB elections web page at rsgb.org/election as well as contact details if you want an informal chat before standing for election. A reminder that the RSGB is looking for four licensed radio amateurs to help raise the profile of wireless communication amongst young people across the UK. We have had a good response, but we'd still like to hear from prospective volunteers in Northern Ireland and Wales. These volunteer Youth Country Representatives will represent the RSGB at externally organised events and will plan and deliver outreach activities. If you have plenty of ideas, a passion for getting young people involved in amateur radio and experience of running small-scale events, we would be very keen to hear from you. The deadline is Friday the 16th of February. For full details, see rsgb.org/volunteers and for an informal discussion, please email RSGB Board Director, Ben Lloyd, GW4BML at gw4bml@rsgb.org.uk GB2RS began broadcasting via the Es'hail-2 amateur satellite in May 2021. Every Sunday at 0800UTC you can hear the latest RSGB news on the dedicated narrow-band QO-100 transponder frequency of 10489.855MHz. This has proved so popular that, by the kind permission of AMSAT-DL, from the 4th of February 2024 we're introducing a second reading at 2100UTC. This will suit our international audience in the western lobe of the footprint. The existing team of three Newsreaders is looking for another volunteer to join them. If you are an RSGB member with a good QO-100 facility and would be interested in broadcasting the news, please contact the GB2RS Manager, Steve, G4HPE at gb2rs.manager@rsgb.org.uk for further details. During February, the RSGB's Photo Friday focus on social media is all about clubs. If you'd like your club to be included, let the RSGB comms team know what you've been up to and who's been involved and share all the brilliant things you've been doing. Email comms@rsgb.org.uk by the 31st of January with a brief summary of the activity and some photos, and please make sure that everyone in the photo is happy to have their face on social media! Chris Deacon, G4IFX has been awarded a PhD from the University of Bath after completing research on propagation. His thesis was entitled: “Radio propagation through ionospheric Sporadic-E”. This part-time work over many years involved looking at Sporadic-E on the 6m band, including making novel measurements of signal amplitude, phase, derived Doppler, polarisation and potential time delay to discover the nature of sporadic-E propagation at VHF frequencies. The RSGB Propagation Studies Committee congratulates Chris on this fantastic achievement. You can find out more by searching for Chris' name on the University of Bath research portal at researchportal.bath.ac.uk  Chris has done a number of presentations about propagation at RSGB Conventions over the years, which you can see on the RSGB YouTube channel at youtube.com/theRSGB And now for details of rallies and events The Lincoln Short Wave Club Winter Radio Rally will take place on Sunday the 28th of January at The Festival Hall, Caistor Road, Market Rasen, LN8 3HT. Using all modes on the 13cm band, the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator. The CQ 160m DX Contest starts at 2200UTC on Friday the 26th and ends at 2200UTC on Sunday the 28th. Using CW on the 160m band, the exchange is signal report and CQ zone. American stations send their state and Canadian stations send their province. The British Amateur Radio Teledata Group RTTY Sprint starts at 1200UTC on Saturday the 27th and ends at 1200UTC on Sunday the 28th. Using RTTY on the 80 to 10m bands, where contests are permitted, the exchange is a serial number. The UK Six Metre Group Winter Marathon began on Friday the 1st of December 2023. The contest will run until the 31st of January 2024. Using all modes on the 6m band, the exchange is signal report and locator. Now the radio propagation report, compiled by G0KYA, G3YLA, and G4BAO on Thursday the 18th of January 2024 We had yet another week with good solar conditions which, at this point in the cycle, is good news. The solar flux index remained in the 170s to 180s range and the Sun is currently peppered with spots. The Kp index never got above 3.33 and that was only for one three-hour period on January the 16th. We were also lucky with solar flares in that we only had minor C-class flares to contend with. An eruption was observed beyond the west limb on January 14th. The event generated a fast-moving coronal mass ejection or CME, but it was directed away from our planet. Daytime MUFs over 3,000km remain high at more than 28MHz. At night this reduces to around 6.9 to 9.5MHz, meaning only the 40m band is mainly open to DX, if at all. HF-wise, this is the best time for low-band DXing, such as 40m band contacts with New Zealand around sunrise, and overnight QSOs on the 80m band with the USA. Other DX being worked by members of CDXC includes XU7AKU in Cambodia on 40m CW in the early evening; V31XX in Belize, VP9KF in Bermuda, on 30m CW around 1000UTC; and E20AX in Thailand on 40m CW around 0930UTC. Next week, NOAA predicts that the solar flux index may remain in the 160 to 170 range with a maximum Kp index of 2. As always, take that Kp prediction with a pinch of salt as a single Earth-facing coronal mass ejection could send it sky-high with an accompanying lowering of the MUF and generally poor conditions. And now the VHF and up propagation news from G3YLA and G4BAO The main theme of the VHF and up propagation options is that we have three distinct phases coming up. The first phase is set to end today, the 21st. This will be the final blast of the cold northerly wind, which may produce some rain scatter near coasts from snow showers. It is probably not especially useful for Tropo, even inland, except perhaps for local overnight temporary short-distance enhancements due to surface cooling and night frosts. Phase two is the transition to very unsettled, wet and windy weather, which starts to arrive during this weekend, ending the 21st, and generally sets the pattern for much of the coming week. Maybe it will be a rain scatter option for the GHz bands, but the main radio consideration will be wind potentially damaging antennas, particularly in the south. Phase three will be the introduction of a weak ridge of high pressure over southern Britain in the second half of the coming week and the following weekend. This could bring some more productive Tropo to southern parts of the UK, especially into the last weekend of the month. Other propagation modes are available but don't seem to be elevated beyond chance occurrences for meteor scatter or aurora. There is a vanishingly small chance of Sporadic-E, as we are in the minimum period for this sort of propagation until after Easter. For EME operators, Moon declination is positive and rising, reaching a maximum on the 23rd. Path losses increase all week until apogee on Monday the 29th. 144MHz sky noise is low to moderate this coming week. And that's all from the propagation team this week.

After a 2021 frothy bull market, NFTs are currently experiencing the depression phase of the market cycle. However, despite the fact that only NFT art has truly found its product-market fit, NFTs in general represented the consumerist moment for crypto. In addition, they also provided a solution for tokenising real world assets (RWA) and intangibles, potentially penetrating markets worth hundreds of trillions of dollars. Moreover, similar to digital art, the advent of AI poses a challenge when it comes to establishing provenance, but this represents another utility for NFTs, as they can be traced back to their origin, given the public nature of blockchains. We were joined by Stephen Young and Storm from NFTFi, to discuss the general state of the NFT market, future prospects for NFT development and how their P2P NFT lending platform unlocks new sources of liquidity in this bear market.Topics covered in this episode:Stephen's & Storm's backgrounds and what allured them to NFT financeNFT market overviewTokenised real world assets (RWA)NFTFi's peer-to-peer vs. peer-to-pool modelsHow other DeFi derivatives apply to the NFT marketNFT vs. fungible token market sizeBlur's BlendNFT royaltiesNFT lending protocols differencesHow escrow contracts affect NFT ownership and utilityNFTFi roadmapInterest rates for different collectionsNFT art marketAI artCollateralizing RWAEpisode links: Stephen Young on TwitterStorm on TwitterNFTFi on TwitterThis episode is hosted by Brian Fabian Crain. GM Web3 ☀️Recap - June, 14 2023Degenz Market Report by @osf_rekt and @rektmandoAnother day of stocks up higher! Interest rates did sell off a little bit yesterday, possibly due to inflation numbers being priced in, but they did rebound already. Crypto had a very small bounce with BTC up to 26k and ETH in the same $1700 range. FOMC is today, if they pause rates this will be the first shift after many many months. The market is pricing in rate cuts for q4, although the FED has said otherwise in their commentary. Our hosts are expecting an uneventful meeting for the most part. A US judge blocked assets at Binance US in order to force negotiations; This is one of the first obstacles in front of the SEC's warpath to attack crypto.NFTsAzuki is having their Vegas event and they are holding it down for the "blue chips". $Meme drop is also incoming for the Memeland ecosystem and captains are holding strong around 9 ETH floor. A Fidenza traded at 130 ETH along with a few other notable Fidenza sales. The Blur token unlock is today with 7% of supply set to be released with the token currently sitting at $0.31. The Apecoin DAO council is making waves again with the upcoming election. Our favorite mutant @notthreadguy is running for a seat! It's tough to see the fruit of the council over the course of the last 6 months following the last election; We had promising elects, and threads full of ambition, but no real results that anyone can point to. The 25k per month salary is forcing some uneasy feelings on the community during this bear market when everything is down. FEWOCiOUSYesterday, Fewo announced his first collaboration with @adidasoriginals! Fewo joined us to share his experience of creating a huge canvas with linework of a kid in his room looking outside at the Adidas trefoil in Fewo's style. The shoe actually tells a story about the kids adventure and no detail is accidental, and the laces are of course blue with painterly clouds in fun Fewo fashion. Collect.adidas.com/fewocious has all of the information along with some amazing Fewocious visuals. The Fewos are coming out later this summer, and holders will have the opportunity to claim a wearable version of the Adidas sneakers!GM! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Traditional markets are not off to a great start today. The 21 day treasury auction ended yesterday at a yield of 6.2%, due to a lack of resolution about the debt ceiling talks. The auctioned bills are set to reach maturity around the "X-date", when the Treasury expects the government to no longer be able to pay its debts if Congress doesn't reach a deal. As the end of the month approaches the fear is escalating and the talk is getting louder. Bitcoin is down to $26.8k and the ETH is down to $1,741. It seems like the natural progression considering the state of the traditional markets. This looks like an appetizing dip, but be cautious as we are not in a stable environment. The dollar has been showing some strength which is actually dragging down the value of other things, like crypto. Whether or not the US actually runs out of cash remains to be seen, but our hosts agree that this is an unlikely event and the same people have been on the soap box saying these things for a while. If we come out on the other side of this properly, the rebound will be significant. Not really much to report over right with NFTs. We saw some more movement in the Artblocks ecosystem, which all started with the big Fidenza sales; we also saw some decent ape sales including a crown and gold grin. Miladys is still bringing decent volume since the Elon tweet but the floor has fallen to the 3 eth range.RarePass genesis' were swept and the floor is up to 15 eth.Captainz and the 9gag ecosystem are making waves and talks of the $MEME coin are still in the air. Legality, hype, untapped market and huge following are the perfect formula for a successful launch. @punk9059 thinks PFPs are in a rough state. Miladys have been dominating via BLEND volume. The current trend is a floor price pump after a BLEND announcement and then once its live a huge dump of supply from big holders. Events like a massive mutant ape dump in the hundreds or the looming holder who has ~400 CLoneX are keeping the market shaky. There are roughly 30 big farmers controlling the big bids and dumping. There are currently 24k ETH worth of bids on mutants meaning the liquidity is still there despite the feeling of a shrinking market. @k2_nft is a great account to follow to get informed on the BLEND bid/dump world.@Ledger recover has been delayed and put on the back burner. They have responded to the market's reaction about the recovery system. They are starting with a white paper on the recovery protocol and slowly making the OS open source. @cz_binance posted a video of China Central Television (CCTV) covering crypto topics that went viral. Starting from June 1st, the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong will be implementing a mandatory licensing regime for virtual asset trading platforms. @Alicia_MEXC thinks this is bullish news as it will bring in new participants and create a safer way for the public to interact.GM Hosted on Acast. Stocks are down and interest rates are up to nearly 4.4% on 2yr treasuries, which is the highest it's been since march. The US debt ceiling conversation is stirring up emotions and talk around markets, causing general fear.Crypto is up a slight bit and looking strong with BTC around $27.3k and ETH around $1850, while alt coins are not following suit. The layer 2 story is still a strong narrative but all of the layer 2 coins are not doing well price-wise. A new issue for other chains is that Bitcoin has become the 2nd biggest coin for NFTs now; if it properly adds an application layer, it will be a huge threat not only to ETH but to all chains in general. This certainly raises questions about Layer 1's.Most of the companies competing will have to use their treasuries to fund development. The more centrally held coins are more susceptible to spending, and it could spell problems in the future.NFTsDid you know, T-pain dropped NFTs in 2021? The more you know There has been a resurgence in the generative art market which seems directly related to the Sothebys auction. Fidenza sales are happening, pushing the floor above 80 ETH and squiggles are making moves now with the floor sitting above 12 eth.Jack butcher has an IRL auction going on at Christies with pieces going for 11-15 ETH. The sentiment around Jack is great and he is now seen as a mainstay in the space. What we've seen over the last few weeks is that the higher end of the market is still trading well. Crypto punk hoodies, gold apes, Fidenzas all definitely have the potential to bring up the mid to lower part of the market with it. OSF thinks that the price of ETH will be a decision maker. If it breaks above 2k into the 3k range we could see the high-end sales slow down.RTFKT saw a bounce and have recovered above 3 ETH, which seems to be a result of the recent sneaker forging. They still have Animus in the works and nearly no news on this big initiative from the project.A couple MFERS have started a physical product initiative and will be selling chairs in Canadian Lowes!Bitcoin pizza day was celebrated yesterday, and @Pizza_DAO kicked off parties all over the world in 120 different cities. Its been a soft start in traditional markets with Nasdaq and S&P both down around 0.2%. Earnings report came in yesterday with headlines focused on Tesla reporting a 20% drop in net income and earnings from last year. Leveraged positions in crypto are getting liquidated, BTC down to $28k and ETH is hanging out around mid $1900's. It seems like the greed and euphoria was a bit high these past few days and this should be a good reminder that things are never up only.@rektmando sees this as a period of consolidation and speculates that we will be bouncing around the $30k & $2k range for both of the respective coins. Both the punks and apes are below 50 eth without any signs of recovery until the BLUR rewards farming ceases. Miladys up to around 2.5 eth floor but overall collections are bleeding out. The timeline is full of the $hitcoins and all of their splendor. $PEPE continues to be the talk with a slew of others joining in the whirlwindCryptopunks floor did not move during all of the crypto crisis, the black swan events AND, ETH moving violently across a tall range. Now we are seeing it slip and it all seems due to the effects of the BLUR rewards farming. The reward system creates a constant downtrend pressure by offering incentives for less than desirable trading behaviors.@punk9059 discussed the ratio of new participants vs the farmers in the Vortex of BLUR rewards not being healthy. The incentives are going to stay and people will keep playing the game. It is hard to see where this ends.We are currently at 8k active traders!? This is a tough stat, down from somewhere around 70k traders at the peak. However, the onboarding continues with things like Starbucks odyssey and @Sorare using blockchain to reach masses with no market trading involved. The stage imagines that the BLUR marketplace has a tough road ahead of it. The overall sentiment towards it has shifted on the timeline. There are still BLUR maxi's but the TL is negative and not supportive.Today Sothebys is opening up auctions to the "grail" collection from 3ac (RIP). Punks, Fidenza's and a ton of different desirable collectibles.@punk9059 points out that Sothebys is approaching this massive sell in a slow calculated way that will protect floor prices, the exact opposite of a clump sale scenario like we see on BLUR. They aren't dumping the 30 Fidenzas all at once because they understand collectibles and know that this would destroy the market value. They will sell things bit by bit over a longer period of time.Nakamigos announce an announcement that something is coming which led to a decent run in their floor.@johnkarp, who was made honorary Rug Radio Intern during the show, came on to talk about @The_Lost_Wallet. This morning we discussed the relief rally in the NFT market that's happening as we see Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Apes, CryptoPunks, Fidenza's, and Art Blocks all rising. There is also some momentum from the weekend pump and dumps like The Saudis. We talk about whether V1 CryptoPunks will have any value long-term as we see the regular Punks return to glory. As usual, we touch on the Otherside, specifically, kodas; and we're joined by Spotty Wi-Fi and illiDaProducer.

How can we classify the different works and styles within crypto art and NFTs?We tend to think of the major art styles (impressionism, abstract expressionism, surrealism, etc.) as they relate to a visual structure or language. For crypto art this understanding has been somewhat alighted. In a way we can think of PFP projects as their own style because visually there is something in common, they work as a personal likeness or avatar. That being said most are just jpegs and not necessarily art that has been enabled by the blockchain. Generative art however produces a certain aesthetic due to how that work is generated by code which could (somewhat) be classified as a NFT art style. Good examples of this would be OG artists like Eric Paul Rhodes or Tyler Hobbs, specifically his Fidenza series. In these cases, because of the algorithmic mechanism which is medium-native to crypto art, there are stylistic similarities which Kizu feels would classify as a major art style within NFT art. Beyond this we also have things such as illustration or painting, which could be used as classifiers but these come from a time before crypto art and we can not really view or classify them in the same way. Moreover, those are merely techniques, which can be helpful for ranking skill level, but in the end that doesn't really get to the point of why we classify art. While https://twitter.com/kaifuku_kizu (Kizu) and https://twitter.com/SabretoothSG (Sabretooth) both acknowledge their level of cynicism, they bring up the idea that ultimately, art being classified is a biproduct of the market. Sabretooth talks about how collectors will buy a certain artists and then look for a narrative in which to place these artists. The reason being that, works are worth more if they are part of something bigger than just the work itself. Sabretooth finds that overall this effort has been unsuccessful in the sense that they have not been powerful enough to break through to the traditional art world. He gives the example of Beeple who has sold for ridiculous amounts of money, has a large fan base in the crypto community, but is not accepted by traditional art people. Kizu talks about the use of of Punks as profile pics or RTFKT sneakers and the signaling of value in the metaverse, how we communicate, the transactions, etc. to point out that there is a narrative and it is about the money. He also draws a comparison between the NFT space and the art world of the 90s where, art from the developing world got recognized because there was a movement to promote these artists. It wasn't really about their style or aesthetic rather their background and what they stood for. What's up with music in the NFT space? Many major DJs are launching projects and that's not a surprise as DJs and NFTs are both on the cutting edge of popular culture. Despite this, Sabretooth notes that music has stopped being the cutting edge of niche subcultures. Minority expressions don't start in music anymore. There are cheaper or more viral ways such as creating a tiktok account. Because it has somewhat lost its power due to these mentioned elements Sabretooth feels that NFTs are ahead of music in creating subcultures and thus he is not as interested in the topic. Could NFTs and smart contracts replace traditional contracts in business and real estate? The idea of tokenizing real world assets has existed since 2016, it has not yet taken off nor does Sabretooth think it will. The reason why brings us to look at what is called the oracle problem - how do you bring data from off the blockchain on the blockchain and still have it be trustworthy? Especially in the case of real estate or other tangible items, the question moves to – if someone steals your NFT do they now own your house? The answer is generally, no, and if that is the case then, what is the purpose of putting it on the blockchain in the first place? When you buy an NFT who owns the creative rights? This brings...
