When exhaustion takes over, decision-making suffers, motivation fades, and even the best opportunities can slip by unnoticed. It's not always the workload itself that holds someone back, but the habits and mindset that shape how they handle it. The real challenge isn't just keeping up—it's figuring out what needs to change before burnout makes the choice for them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETB0JCgGBJY Bernadette Boas is an executive coach, trainer, and author focused on leadership and team performance. We are often faced with dilemmas in life, especially when it comes to our career-related choices. The daily inner fights of how to deal with a situation? The tracking if we are on the right path or not? We often need an ear to either listen to our dilemmas or a person who can open our perceptions, enabling us to make better decisions. Thus, lies the importance of executive coaching. In today's discussion with Mr. Jaykumar Hariharan, we discuss how coaching enables us to become better leaders. About Jaykumar Hariharan Jay is the CEO and Chief Coach at Blue Fire Coaching Consultant. He is also an author and a speaker. This is an extra-special Part Two episode...because Bernadette and I had never met before! Micheal, the previous host of this podcast and current host of The Remarkable Coach, had the pleasure of interviewing Bernadette last time, almost a year and a half ago. In that time, quite a bit has changed and evolved in her coaching business, and we get to talk about all of it today...in 15 all-too-brief minutes. We cover Bernadette's "full-circle" business pivot back into the corporate world and some of the expired myths of leadership being shed by more leaders who understand that the old "command and control" or "dump and dictate" models are just not going to work anymore...if they ever really did. Bernadette is a renowned business and success coach, speaker, author, and CEO of Ball of Fire Coaching who uses her decades of corporate savviness combined with her entrepreneurial spirit to help corporate professionals create riches in their careers and their lives. Hey Disrupters! Welcome to the first ever blog for the Woman on Fire Radio Show brought to you straight from the Arena. I am Trudi Lunnie-Thomas, Certified Life and Leadership Coach and Master Disrupter and it is my honor to spend this time with you. Women everywhere are disrupting their status quo, blasting through limitations, rediscovering their greatness and building the lives of their dreams. My mission is to help you to ignite your life, ignite your world. Each episode, we'll explore how you too can shake up your Status Quo and blow your own mind. At the time that I am writing this post, Kansas City is experiencing a heat wave of sorts with today being a scorcher of a day, thirteen degrees hotter than yesterday, which was HOT ENOUGH! Not sure when you're reading this post, but I am sure that whenever that time is, the weather will have changed, that's just life in the Midwest! Maybe I will recall this day when winter comes and the temps here in the Midwest fall to four degrees and I will regret complaining about the heat! All of this makes it a much better idea to stay inside where it's cool talking to all of you. So, let's pull up some chairs and get acquainted. As a Certified Life and Leadership for Woman on Fire Coaching, my goal is to come together with Disrupters like you, near and far, brave women shaking up the status quo every day that she steps into this Arena called Life. So, who is a Disrupter? You are, you just don't know it yet. Who is a Disrupter? You Are! Disruption has received a bad rap lately along with the Women who have dared to be disruptive. Women who have persisted, have been called nasty and yes, disruptive. We're going to change all of that right now. Every disruption or disruptive act begins with the cry, wake up call, a cry for help, a cry for recognition that something's not right, something's not working, something it's never going to work or behave the same ever again. A Disrupter has been defined as someone or something which makes a significant impact in a given industry within a short time span. Someone who interrupts the progress or normal course or unity of a thing, a movement, an industry, radically changing a situation. I want to say that again because it's just so powerful. A Disrupter is someone, a Woman, who disrupts the progress or normal course of a movement, radically changing a situation. It is easy to celebrate the Public Disrupters who are leading Fortune 500 companies or women who are leaders in Congress or other offices. The disrupters who are Activists and Leaders in our communities and we love them. This show is for the Invisible, Silent Disrupters: the women raising their families, taking care of elderly parents. The single moms. The college student. The Superwoman. The stay at home caretakers. Women like you who are shaking up the Status Quo every day, whether this is at home, at work, at life. You are doing more, becoming more and having more, living unapologetically true to your calling. As Disrupters, when we stand up for ourselves, we are standing up for women everywhere. When we stand in for someone else, we hold the world on our shoulders. We are disrupters for all women, not just the women today, but for all women to come: for the girls on the playground, or the teens in high school chemistry or the new college graduates. Maybe you feel that you don't make a difference, that you can't make a difference. You do – every day. And it's a lot of work! Occasionally during all this BUSY-ness, we tend to forget to look out for ourselves. As a Certified Life Coach, it is my honor to work with women who are ready and willing to reconnect with themselves – what makes you unique, what makes you happy, what makes you feel fulfilled – and reopen yourself to the possibilities of YOU. That's who this show is for. YOU ARE A DISRUPTER. So, I know someone might say, well, what's all of this talk about an Arena? I'm a mom, not a fighter. Or I'm busy just trying to make it through to the next day, I don't want to talk about fighting. I hear you. Disruptive times call for disruptive measures. Let's talk about your Arena, your life. The space you enter every waking moment of your life, equipped with your “Sword”, habits that you've adopted to defend yourself and your “Shield”, beliefs that you've instilled within to protect yourself. This Arena is where you raise your kids, where you go to work, where you live and thrive and survive. Your Arena is built on a culmination of the stories or experiences that make up your life and is fueled by your love, your wins, your losses and even your fears. Also, who else occupies your Arena on any given day: Spouses, children, bosses, coworkers, how are they affected? What are their roles in your Arena? As women, sometimes we find ourselves falling prey to “IF/THEN” thinking in your Arena as you mull over things that affect your decision such as “IF I make this change, what THEN happens to everyone else? You might ask “who am I to disrupt the Status Quo, even the Status Quo of others? Are my hopes and dreams more important than those of others? Your life is not lived in a vacuum; indeed, every part affects the other. Balance is a myth in your Arena, no matter how hard you try if you move one piece, the others shift as well. If you remove an element in this Arena, Life rushes in to fill the void. It is constant in motion. But it is not on autopilot. Life does not happen to us, it happens because of us. Some days you will enter this Arena ready and able to face whatever comes your way. Some days you will barely drag yourself out of the Arena, wondering how you will face another day. Maybe your comfort zone has grown uncomfortable. Maybe this space is great, it offers everything that you could ever want as a Disrupter. Or you might feel that things could be better. Or glad that they are not worse. Maybe you want different, you want to stretch beyond your Status Quo. Sometimes our efforts are hampered by what I define as the Status Quo: Your normal way of doing things. The way things have always been done. Perhaps that worked for you then, but now, you've decided that you want more, that you want to step into the fullness of your own personality, the fullness of your life as it could be. But you just don't know how. That is the beauty of being a Disrupter. You get to choose every day how you enter your Arena. I coach my clients in the areas of disrupting their status quo by disrupting the limiting beliefs that have kept them at a standstill in their Arena. As a coach, I am honored to be able to coach Disrupters like yourself on how to equip yourself to meet whatever is presented in your Arena, preparing you to be able to face whatever comes out that gate. That's what the Woman on Fire Show is about, igniting or reigniting your flame within, encouraging you to step out beyond those limitations to explore your life to move you from “What Now” to “What's Next”. It's time to disrupt some stuff. So, Disrupters, as we begin this crazy wonderful journey together, let me ask you this question: What is the Call for Action on your life that is so large that it would force you to get up, stand up and be counted? What is the thing you are most willing to fight for no matter what the cost, a reason for being so large, so all-consuming that it is causing you to say enough! I cannot do this any longer! I have to make a change now! What are you willing to fight for, to be a bold and confident warrior for during these crazy and exciting times. As Disrupters, we are on the frontline, it's time to pick up your Sword and Shield and do work. And I am there with you in the Arena, standing shoulder to shoulder with you as your Coach. Let's disrupt your Status Quo! So, I realize that our first visit together has been a little bit like drinking from a firehose, it's a lot for a first show but I am so excited that you joined me today and I cannot wait to meet you here again for our next episode to explore what it means to be a Disrupter in your Arena. The Woman on Fire Show will be published every other week but check back often, sometimes, I will get a bee in my bonnet and will just want to pop in to chat with you, hope that's all right! So, until next time, Disrupter! Thanks for joining me and I look forward to talking with you soon! Bye Bye! “I hope you enjoyed this episode of Woman On Fire Radio. To continue the conversation, please come over to my blog at thearena.online/blog. Thank you! Not #CrushingIt is Okay Rachel East is a Certified Professional Coach and co-founder of Clarity on Fire with her business partner and best friend Kristen Walker. Clarity on Fire Coaching was created based on Rachel and Kristen's experiences with mind-numbing, unfulfilling work and their unwillingness to accept the status quo. The coaching is geared towards millennials “who know what they don't want but don't know what they'd rather be doing”, which was how they felt coming out of college. Rachel majored in Communications and Public Relations because she knew it was where she would flourish. When she graduated she gladly took a job she was offered as it was tough time economically (after the 2008 recession), and there was a lot of fear surrounding employment. Rachel found her position as an Events and Promotions Co-ordinator wasn't ultimately something she cared deeply about. In figuring out what she did want led her to pursue life coaching. It encompassed many of her passions including self-development and therapy. The Passion Profile Quiz that Clarity on Fire developed helps uncover your passion (the content) as well as how it can be expressed in your ideal working environment (the context). Rachel coaches a lot of self-defined perfectionists that are feeling burnt out. There is a mindset in society that we need to be busy to be worthy. Almost everyone struggles with this notion which is why Rachel's message is so important. Have no fear if you like your free time, don't want to build an empire, aren't a huge fan of social media, or, as Rachel puts it, you don't want to be a #girlboss or ‘crush it'. There are many ways to approach being a successful entrepreneur. Rachel's wrote her blog post Confession: I Have No Desire to be a #girlboss out of frustration when she was feeling burnt out. There was a strong response from people from various professional backgrounds. She knew that she had hit on something that many felt but few articulated as it isn't a prevalent societal attitude. Rachel and those who responded to her post discussed defining success and passion for yourself and adhering to your values to discover a working environment that will lead to personal fulfilment. 12:10 Rachel's professional journey leading her to Clarity on FIre 15:25 Question from Julia, a member of The Connected Yoga Teacher Facebook Group about passion and fulfilment 19:50 Quality vs. Quantity- how focusing on numbers can negatively impact your business and outlook 21:05 Re-defining what success means to you 23:55 Authenticity has a bigger impact than presenting an airbrushed image 24:55 Rachel's blog post Confession: I Have No Desire to be a #girlboss and how it resonated with so many 28:15 How strong boundaries give you freedom as an entrepreneur 29:30 Business is one aspect of your life, avoid co-dependence.
