Who is one of your favorite people to talk with? I had a fun conversation about good guides with one of my all-time favorite people, my husband, Darren Penny. You'll hear us discuss the role of guides in our lives—how to seek them, how to be one, and how to navigate life with humility, courage, connection and vulnerability. Through personal stories, like Darren's search for guidance in the absence of a father, we explore the deep need for relational wisdom during seasons of vulnerability. We talk about how good guides meet us where we are, create safe spaces for growth, and remind us that being unfinished doesn't disqualify us—it makes us ready. Whether you're seeking direction or becoming someone others can trust, this conversation invites you to take the risk, know yourself, and walk the journey with others. I hope you will be encouraged to embrace your limitations, resist isolation, and choose human connection and vulnerability over quick fixes. If you like what you hear, pick up a copy of my book Grace Space where I dive deeper into being a person that creates safe spaces for growth.Cheering you on!Step into The Life You're Made For, I'm cheering you on!heatherpenny.com@heatherpennyphdMusic by Jason SquiresProduction by Cody Vermillion

How do you feel about your creative abilities? Are you someone who sees yourself as creative, not creative at all, or have you never really thought about it? What does creativity have to do with being part of the story of humanity? I wanted to speak to my friend Jason Squires about all of this. Jason is a coach who works with leaders who create. Starting in the music industry, Jason has been teaching, singing, and traveling around the United States supporting music leaders. This eventually led him to starting a coaching business for creative leadership. But I especially love how he views creativity because, much like me, he believes everyone has the innate potential to be creative. And the beliefs he holds around humanity's ability to create are inspiring. We also dove deep into the content from my book, Grace Space, which Jason endorsed!Whether you see yourself as creative or not, join us as we discuss the importance around creativity and how it can look uniquely in every type of person. This is a conversation around the beliefs we hold, how some change and others ground us, as well as the power of living with a commitment to creativity no matter what line of work you are in.Jason Squires is a worship leader, songwriter, and storyteller. Jason travels nationally leading worship and teaching at conferences. Along with being an artist, Jason is the Director of The Creative Launch which is an organization designed to help creatives have the tools to thrive. Jason does that by one on one coaching. Jason's passion is leading people to Jesus through creativity and inspiring creatives to reach their full potential. You can catch Jason on his weekly podcast called The Table streaming on all major podcast platforms. Jason married his wife in 2007, has three daughters, and together they reside in Northern California.Step into The Life You're Made For, I'm cheering you on!heatherpenny.com@heatherpennyphdMusic by Jason SquiresProduction by Cody Vermillion
We are wrapping up our Crossroads podcast series and looking ahead to a new series on Beliefs. So I wanted to re-release my conversation with Sharon McMahon from last Fall. Why? First of all, because election season is right around the corner and we need her voice ringing loud and clear. Second, because this conversation is such a great set up to talk about Beliefs and how they influence us to go after the life we are made for. Not to mention that when Sharon and I last talked, neither of us had released our new books. And boy is she having a moment! The Small and the Mighty has opened powerful conversations. Sharon is stepping into political arenas and government spaces like no one else. Which is truly inspiring. In addition, it was in this conversation that I realized I wanted Sharon to endorse my book–Grace Space–which she so graciously agreed to. I am so honored to be associated with her. The world desperately needs Sharon McMahon's transparency about aligning her beliefs with her higher calling. So her words are timely. Stepping into the life you are made for requires intentionality, focus, and being ok with limitations. She talks candidly about the challenges of distractions and the importance of being confident in your strengths—as well as your limitations. Plus you'll hear how relationships are important for staying balanced. So, I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did—even for a second time!Connect with Sharon on Instagram: @sharonsaysso And on her website: sharonmcmahon.comStep into The Life You're Made For, I'm cheering you on!heatherpenny.com@heatherpennyphdMusic by Jason SquiresProduction by Cody Vermillion

This week my dear friend, Laura Coostona and I unpack the idea of responding vs reacting when facing conflict or tension. When we inevitably experience conflict in our teams or relationships, the temptation for many of us is to react. We go on the defense, or sometimes even the offense. But what if we paused?... Pausing gives us the chance to have a measured response and give grace to the person we're having challenges with. Laura and I talk about how the seven practices in my book, Grace Space, really lean on that pause. Listen in as we give you some practical language to use when facing tensions that require heavy doses of grace for everyone involved. You asked. I answered. Here come the Q&A Episodes! During this third season of The Grace Space, I've shared spiritual keys of inner alchemy with you, and gone deep in the telling of some of the stories of my own journey on the Path of Grace. Your messages of gratitude have really touched me -- and your questions too! I promised you I would dedicate an entire episode to addressing those questions collected during the course of this season so you can go deeper. It turns out to be more than one episode! Thanks to your interest and your courageous questions, we will spend the next few episodes in exploring them. In today's episode, we'll talk about... the EGO! Understanding its origin, function, and how to free yourself from its limiting programs so you can let go the burdens of the past and truly come alive Why we forget our True Nature and get lost behind the veil of illusion The true dynamic at the root of nearly ALL relationships and why we need to be honest, admit it, and own it Therapy, digging up the past, and the difference in focus between therapy and spiritual work an exercise you can use to discover what your life lessons are and the underlying purpose of difficult relationships And much more, including grandiose toasters, my ego's nickname, and a really loud computer fan. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Bonus Links! Sometimes we need to do something radical to announce to ourselves that we want a change. For me, it was shaving my head. In today's episode of The Grace Space, I share how a symbolic act can express a spiritual intention and open the door to a deeper transformation. My intention was to reveal myself to myself. To live as the Self is uncompromisingly authentic and requires boldness, courage, and a gentle refusal to conform to the roles that are expected of us. It's a refusal to betray the soul by stupefying ourselves with the familiarity of our comfort zone, playing it safe, and bolstering each others' illusions. It is not a reaction against something else, but a balanced, compassionate and tender response to the falsity of the world. -- a promise, renewed daily, to drop all pretense and to be True. And it starts with you. Naturally. I was definitely not ready to live that honestly -- so I shaved my head instead. In today's episode, I share the story of my first attempt to show my true colours -- at least, my true hair colour! We'll discuss... the five things you must be willing to drop in order to ascend in consciousness how we travel down the ladder of subtlety into physical form why Love has more spiritual power than Reason, and how to make the quantum leap from one paradigm to the other the futility of trying to protect the ones you love, and why you shouldn't interfere how we betray our soul, and the way back to authenticity And lots more, including winning the battle but losing the war, my henna routine, and more beautiful words from Rumi. I want to share with you a powerful exercise I lead people through on my retreats and corporate events called Inviting and Rejecting. What you invite in to your mind and heart makes a big difference in how you live. Equally, what you reject helps you create intentional spaces that block out the things you don't want to be part of your life. And more importantly, when you name it out loud, you give power to what you're inviting in! You have a choice with how you show up in the world. And what spaces you create for yourself and others. I share few examples of how this has played out for my clients and I get vulnerable about times when this tool was invaluable for me personally! It's a powerful tool for so many contexts. So take a listen and then think about what you are inviting and rejecting in your life. Then say it out loud!Step into The Life You're Made For, I'm cheering you on!heatherpenny.com@heatherpennyphdMusic by Heather Penny and Andres SalomonProduced by Natalie Hanemann and Cody Vermillion
In my first private audience with him, my Teacher put his finger intuitively right where it hurt most -- my second chakra. I learned to feel again by facing one of the most painful episodes of my life as a woman -- and ironically, I thought I was over it. Just because you don't really feel the pain anymore doesn't mean you've processed it. Sometimes it's because you've numbed it out. The second chakra -- associated with the water element -- is the energy centre just below your navel, and the seat of feeling, flowing, pleasure, intimacy, belonging, sexuality and creativity. In this episode of The Grace Space, our journey into the water element of feeling continues. This is the story of how I began transforming the long-held pain of a second chakra trauma and rededicated that energy to my higher purpose. In the process, I learned, and I share with you... the difference between processing emotional energy and juicing it to keep your ego alive how to let go of emotional or even physical pain, and how we perpetuate it without realizing it where all pain actually originates and why coping mechanisms don't work why spiritual work is a threat to your sense of self And lots more, including the power of shakti, being lost at sea, in love with the Pays Cathare, and dissolving the karma of your bloodline. We cannot transcend the past until we allow ourselves to feel it. I found that out on my second journey of awakening. The decision to fully commit to my spiritual path galvanized me with joy and excitement. Little did I know it was the beginning of seven years of tears. I was about to step into the river, figuratively and literally. And find out that 'being spiritual' was the opposite of peaceful. This is the story of how I entered the water element and finally started to FEEL. It was a time when tears were always close to the surface, emotion was overwhelming and drowning was a possibility. When years, centuries, lifetimes of dammed up energy would rise to burst through the levies of illusion and flood every area of life. In today's episode, I share with you... why everything seems to fall apart and why you lose your way when you commit to spiritual work, and how to make it through the inevitable doubt and disillusionment called shaktipat the importance of owning your downside -- i.e. your character defects -- so they don't own you how coming back to France triggered a moment of past-life recall that had me slipping through the warp of space-time to unearth old patterns of fear and hiding what I learned about the symbolic language of the universe from three days of rain, a hailstorm and a double-rainbow Learning how to feel again is how we begin to thaw the parts of our heart that have been frozen in time. Join me now in The Grace Space as I take you back to France with me (and through a warp in space-time!) and share with you the fruit of Swamiji's blessing, the recognition of soulmates, the pitfalls of being an inexperienced camper, and more! There's no such thing as luck. But there is such a thing as 'baraka': good fortune and divine blessing. Divine Order and Justice are supreme in the Universe. Nothing is random and everything is expressing its essence perfectly, regardless of our judgments and opinions. In a paradigm of causality, where we believe that one thing is causing another, it's easy to convince yourself that life is unfair or that some people have all the luck while others don't. But when we go beyond the linearity of the Newtonian paradigm and into the Quantum realm of reality, we realize that everything in our experience unfolds from our vibrational interaction with the Field of Consciousness. I've had the great good fortune of learning from two amazing 'lucky' people in my life: my brother and my husband. They make life look easy; but believe me, luck has nothing to do with it. What some people call luck is really all about who you are BEING. And when you embody kindness, generosity, playfulness, gratitude, humour, lovingness, trust, and joy, the universe opens the doors for you and you are provided for. In fact, everything we need is freely given to us. Whatever you need is yours for the asking. In this episode, you'll learn... a new alchemical key phrase that connects you with the Divine principles of abundance and compensation how to increase your chances of experiencing 'baraka' the biggest lie we've been sold that keeps us spiritually and financially disempowered the most important declaration you can make to the Universe that gets the 'little me' out of the way and opens the channels for your good to flow to you And much more, including the special power of Cat Daddies, fig trees, and the story behind this podcast's theme music! It seems like a contradiction. And to ordinary awareness, it is. How can you have more if you give more? If you do the math, it doesn't seem to make sense. Giving away necessarily implies that what you've given away, you no longer have. Then again, it depends on your interaction with the field of consciousness, and the spirit with which you live your life. Whatever we give, we receive. Whatever we offer as a vibration returns to us in kind. If we offer kindness and love, it returns to us as more kindness and love. If we offer resentment and smallness of spirit, Life responds with smallness and meanness. Everything is a mirror, offering us insight into ourselves and the energy we're holding -- if we're willing to look. Today's alchemical key unlocks the door to greater joy and abundance. It dissolves the Scrooge in us -- the selfish, small-minded, ungenerous, tight-fisted, jealous tendencies of the ego that are at the source of so much pain individually and collectively. In this episode, you'll learn... the two most important qualities to cultivate if you want to perform inner alchemy how to experience more peace, more love, more opportunities, more abundance, and more of all the good things your heart is longing for the quickest and easiest way to shift our of a 'get' mindset, and the origin of our need to gain and win how to recognize whether you're operating in the limited domain of force, or the unlimited realm of spiritual Power, and how to make the leap from one paradigm to the other what a person of increase is, and how to become one And much more. I tell you a story about how I first consciously discovered that I could easily move into an upward spiral of 'feel-good vibes' -- as I was pin-curling my hair for a wig! “What Did You Hear Me Say” is an extension of the podcast. It's something AJ and Darah put together that allows what they do and say on the podcast to not only be communicated to people in real life, but to promote it being practiced and perpetuated. We like to see people make it work and we wanna help. This takes place once a month in an intimate group setting where people share their experiences and their truths. In this session we had 4 couples share how being with their partner helped them become better people and how they intentionally pour into each other. It also gets very interesting as they go into telling the men how to hold a space for women to process their emotions even when the man is the reason behind the problem. Hope you enjoy. Please like and share. ✌
Are you free from inner oppression? Most of us feel like life dictates the degree of freedom we have. Externally we live within certain boundaries and limitations that are imposed from without by the laws of man and the laws of nature. We may feel limited in our freedom of time, money, or physical capacities too. It can be frustrating to chafe against these limitations when we want to express more of who we are in the world. But outer freedom is an expression of inner freedom. Are you able to find inner spaciousness in any situation? Can you feel free no matter what's going on around you? Free from the inner oppression of fear, worry, anxiety, doubt? That feeling of dread that you're about to be beset by a mind attack or emotional storm and there's nowhere to run? It is our ultimate destiny as human beings to transcend our lower nature and live as the joy, love, and spaciousness of our True Nature. But don't put that day off in the future for yourself. Now is the time to choose to be free. In this episode of Inner Alchemy, we'll explore... a recap of all the alchemical keys we've looked at so far, and their relationship to each other how to practice awareness in everyday life as a path to freedom the difference between outer freedom and inner freedom, and why it's important why outer restrictions are not against you, and how they can lead to true freedom why we really don't want to let go, or hold on to resentments and old self-concepts And much more. I also share a story about a recent experience where I was faced with temptation by the spiritual ego around the very issue of freedom, and how the inner conflict was resolved. Who are you? What are you all about? How do you see yourself? And most importantly... does it even matter? One of the stages of personal growth is the development of a healthy self-image. Anyone who seeks to achieve their dreams eventually realizes that we cannot outperform our self-image, and that unconscious negative self-concepts and emotional energy fields like shame, guilt, anger and fear continually sabotage our best efforts at fulfillment. The good news is that our self-image can be improved. Our attempts at self-improvement are an expression of the desire to overcome limitations, satisfy our longings and dissolve our discontent. But while a well-adjusted ego may be a worthy therapeutic goal, it is only a stage in our development. As long as self-improvement is rooted in the ego's dissatisfaction, true fulfillment remains elusive. We remain stuck in the personal sense of self, which ultimately only perpetuates suffering. The alchemical key I share with you in this episode is a shortcut -- not only will it improve your self-image and your sense of deserving, but it will also help you transcend the built-in limitations of the very self you are seeking to improve. You'll learn... where to connect with the true source of your worth as a human being (hint: it's not in your human part) how to avoid the 'self-improvement trap', an unproductive path that leads to more frustration and a vicious cycle of guilt and self-condemnation why our sense of deserving is so unstable and constantly needs shoring up why any image or concept you have of yourself, even an empowered one, is ultimately false how to stop seeking your worthiness, and instead, let go of the need to feel worthy altogether I tell you the story of how flopping in a commercial audition (big time!) prompted me to ask the deeper questions about identity and self-image, and start to let them go. Are you willing to let go of who you believe yourself to be? To leave behind the familiar feeling of being 'you' in favour of true Freedom? And mostly, do you want to hear about my embarrassing face-plant in that commercial audition? If so, join me now in The Grace Space. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Bonus Links! Got problems? Want to solve them? Listen on! What's the first thing we need to understand to solve a problem? That there are no problems. Only situations. Perception is what makes a situation into a problem. Unless you're a mathematician, a problem is usually a situation you don't want or that you feel 'shouldn't be happening'. This sets up resistance to the situation -- force. And what comes back? Counter-force. We also tend to see the problem as 'out there', and set about acting on the situation, trying to manage, control, or influence those involved. But this is a waste of energy. Even if we do change the situation, we usually create karma, i.e. consequences. This week in The Grace Space, we're going to shift our paradigm around what a problem is, and how to solve it. (Hint: YOU are not doing the solving). It's a kind of non-linear 'quantum problem-solving'. Think of it this way. Reality is a mirror. It reflects back to you an image of yourself -- not your outside, your inside! Whatever energy you hold within yourself is reflected back. Whatever problems show up in your reality are a reflection of something within your own Being. There is no 'out there'. There is only 'in here'. The really good news is... it means you can solve any problem in your reality -- from within. In this episode, I share with you... what a problem ACTUALLY is -- and why it's showing up how a conscious person works with the energy of a problem a simple and extremely powerful mantra that opens a channel for the highest outcome for any 'problem' you are facing why you don't have to worry about or 'try' to solve problems I also recount the story of my (totally imagined) rivalry with a friend, and how it kept me guilty, self-conscious, and driving with the brake on for years. Quantum problem-solving is so much easier. It's such a relief. You don't have to do any heavy lifting. We may not be as free as we think. If you assume that you are exercising your 'free will', listen to this episode. We have a lot of unexamined assumptions in life. There's a tendency to believe that the reality we experience is the only one, and that we are 'right' about it. There's a tendency to believe that the limitations we experience are 'just the way things are'. There's a tendency to be attached to our way of seeing things, even if it means remaining within the limitations and constraints that we perceive as the cause of our suffering. The truth? All of this is just programming. And we've been making our choices from a 'free will' that is sharply circumscribed by this programming. We've all been programmed. So now what? In this episode of The Grace Space, we'll look at the second Alchemical Key that can free you from your programming so you can make your choices based on the inspiration of the Now rather than defaulting to reactivity based on patterns from the past. We'll talk about... where all this programming comes from and how it got there how our paradigm influences our perception and causes us to see things in a distorted way where all of our problems actually originate the necessity of letting go of our attachment to the way we see things so that we can be free And lots more. You'll discover that knowing you've been programmed in the first place is the first step to accessing true creativity and living the fulfillment of your highest potential. Yes, we've all been programmed. But that is not who we ARE. Isn't it a relief? ____________________________________________________________________________ Bonus Links! The technologies of the future will be more quantum, multidimensional and spiritual than physical. Today I'm going to tell you about a profound spiritual technology that can help you have a more graceful ascension process. I'm talking about Kundalini Yoga, the yoga of awareness. If you practice this technology faithfully, you will become more empowered, resilient, grounded, and centred. Kundalini Yoga brings you higher levels of physical health and vitality by strengthening and toning the nervous and glandular systems so that your body can hold more Light. It brings harmony to all of the body's organs and systems and awakens the dormant spiritual potential within you by working with your body's innate consciousness or intelligence. It helps you to feel more peaceful, grounded and balanced in your day, by calming your mind and emotions and with continued practice, transforms your life circumstances, aligns you with your purpose and higher gifts and facilitates Self-Realization. You don't need to acquire anything to practice Kundalini Yoga, because you already have everything you need within to use this spiritual technology to increase your health, happiness and prosperity. In this episode, I share with you the story of discovering Kundalini Yoga at the age of 25, the portal it opened to my Soul, and the key role it has played in my journey for the last 25 years, even when I was running away from the potential it offered me. You'll learn about... the life-changing experience I had at my first Kundalini Yoga class the relationship between Kundalini Awakening and Ascension how I shrank back in fear when the doorway to the Soul opened the first time... and the second time... why we tend to give our power away and run from the very things that would help us grow and improve our lives why most people struggle with discipline and commitment, and how to find them within yourself without pushing And lots more. I've also made a special video for you to introduce you to one of my favourite practices! You'll find it below in the links :-) Join me now in The Grace Space. ... Intrigued?
