Jack Conway, a 19-year-old from Toronto, Canada, is a huge fan of video games and roller coasters. His family includes his mom, Kim, his dad, Steve, and his older brother, Brian. Jack plays a variety of video games, from Call of Duty to Minecraft, and he loves roller coasters. He also has a vision impairment due to a brain tumor he had when he was a baby. He was one of the first children in the world to receive a certain treatment for the tumor, and he spent a lot of time at SickKids hospital. School can be challenging for him because of his vision, but he tries not to let it get the better of him.He has done a vision study using virtual reality goggles, and it has improved his vision and quality of life. He is excited about the potential for technology to restore vision and is happy to have been accepted into all six college programs he applied for.The Krembil Brain Institute, part of University Health Network, in Toronto, is home to one of the world's largest and most comprehensive teams of physicians and scientists uniquely working hand-in-hand to prevent and confront problems of the brain and spine, such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, epilepsy, stroke, spinal cord injury, chronic pain, brain cancer or concussion, in their lifetime. Jack Churchill graduated from the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, England, in 1926. He left the army in 1936 to become an editor for a daily newspaper in Kenya. Then he branched off into modelling, and even film acting. Indeed, his mastery of medieval weaponry, especially the sword and the bow-and-arrow, landed him roles in 2 movies: Jack Conway's 1938 comedy “A Yank at Oxford”, and the 1940 adventure film "The Thief of Baghdad".

A discussion about and look into the stories, the history and the personalities that came together to make "Brown of Harvard" in 1926. Directed by Jack Conway and starring William Haines, Jack Pickford and Mary Brian.
For this week's Studios Year by Year, it's MGM 1938 and two aviation movies starring the King and Queen of Hollywood, Clark Gable and Myrna Loy. In Jack Conway's wildly entertaining Too Hot to Handle, Loy is a daredevil aviator with a sentimental mission and Gable an unscrupulous journalist who doesn't know whether he wants to exploit or worship her. It's all in good fun until the movie decides to take a weird comic turn into white supremacist psychosis, albeit in a way that's (maybe?) self-subverting. In Victor Fleming's masterful Test Pilot, Clark Gable's magnetic masculinity is under the microscope of Loy's female gaze and Spencer Tracy's queer one. We discuss Loy's thespian opportunities and Gable's perennially underrated emotionalism. Then: the return of Fear and Moviegoing in Toronto. Movies discussed (and spoiled): Niagara (1953), with Marilyn Monroe and Jean Peters, and Moontide (1942), with Jean Gabin and Ida Lupino. MGM, 1936: the studio of stars, glamour, and conservatism. Or so goes our thesis, which we attempt to complicate by taking a close look at two movies that make romantic rivals of Jean Harlow and Myrna Loy: Clarence Brown's melodrama Wife vs.Secretary and Jack Conway's atypical screwball comedy Libeled Lady. Indubitably the protagonist of the former and top-billed in the latter's star-fest, Harlow plays class underdogs that lend a pointed populism to MGM's aspirational fantasies. We examine MGM's representation of options for career women in Wife vs. Secretary and find it open to a subversive reading. Time Codes: 0h 01m 00s: WIFE VS SECRETARY (dir. Emerging pop singer-songwriter Jack Conway is back with his next single, “Sad Songs”. Name dropping LANY, and other amazing pop artists, Jack takes inspiration from what is currently taking over our airwaves. Noting that he may not be a superstar in music, yet he's finally happy, and he hadn't felt this way in a VERY long time. The Indiana-raised Los Angeles transplant is set to release an EP very soon and is currently in talks with producers, songwriters, etc., who are ready to take his artistry and his music to higher heights. Jack Conway is a 25-year-old singer/songwriter from Indiana. Growing up in a sports-oriented family, he didn't begin songwriting until 19 years of age. Quickly, he became addicted to creating. Drawing influences from artists like John Mayer, Charlie Puth, Shawn Mendes, and the Jonas Brothers, he crafts constructed melodies and distinct lyrics with infectious arrangements for a harmonious blend to the ear. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/steven-cuoco0/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/steven-cuoco0/support

Tracklist : Harold Budd et Cocteau Twins - Memory Gongs (The Moon and the Melodies, 1986) The Future Sound of London - Glacier (Part 2) (Environments II, 2009) Helios - South Tree (Unleft, 2010) Marsen Jules - Swans Reflecting Elephants (Pop Ambient 2012, 2012) Julia Holter - Try to Make Yourself a Work of Art (Tragedy, 2011) Jane - Berserker (Berserker, 2005) Seefeel - Come Alive (Climatic Phase #1 Mix) (Volume Seven, 1993) Emeralds - Science Center (Does It Look Like I'm Here?, 2010) Best Available Technology - Arcs of Red (Running to You, 2016) BNJMN - Black Square (Black Square, 2011) The Field - Kappsta (Pop Ambient 2007, 2006) Luke Abbott - Night Bike (Music for a Flat Landscape: Official Soundtrack to The Goob, 2015) Trentemoller - The Very Last Resort (The Last Resort, 2006) Photo : Boom Town, de Jack Conway (1940)

Our third episode focuses on the small window of films made in Hollywood between 1930 and 1934, known usually as 'Pre-Code'. The censorship rules of the 'Hays Code' was introduced to Hollywood studios in 1930 but was not actually enforced until late 1934. During these years studios were pumping out films testing the limits of propriety, usually with strong central female characters using their wiles to break out of poverty and marital drudgery. This month's He's a Keeper is devoted to the charming Melvyn Douglas. Lastly, an honourable mention to the late Setsuko Hara. Sources: A Woman’s Face (1941) Dir. George Cukor. [DVD] MGM. This week, the GOP candidates, furious at the rough treatment they received at the hands of CNBC, rebelled against the debate process. The first casualty of all this nonsense was a debate scheduled to take place on Telemundo. It's just one of a series of slights suffered by the Latino community so far this election cycle. Meanwhile, if you've ever applied for a job, you've seen the box on the application, asking you to detail any history of criminal conviction. This week, President Obama ordered Federal agencies to remove that from their forms, joining a growing, bipartisan movement to "ban the box.”Finally, the 2015 election is over and in Kentucky the big loser wasn't Democratic Gubernatorial nominee Jack Conway -- though he did lose. Rather, it was the thousands of poor Kentuckians who now might lose their health insurance as a result of Republican Matt Bevin's ascension. Will this finally be the moment Democrats realize that they are functionally dead as a party at state-level? Probably not! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

A candid discussion on RACISM...with two of my favorite people in the world Dr. Jack Conway and David Miller on Ties Never Broken-OnAir! It was brought to my attention that we often have this conversation amongst ourselves as Black Folks; rarely in a civil way with those who don't look or think like us. Well; here it is.
First of all, actor and award-winning author Bradford Tatum joins Midnight Corey this week to talk about his brilliant book The Monster’s Muse, and some Lon Chaney. Next, guitarist from the wonderful horror punk band DieMonsterDie—Shadow Windhawk—steps … More
Joyce is back on the second episode along with our friend Vince to watch Libeled Lady...and we all LOVED IT! On this episode, Joyce makes a big announcement about the movie, we discuss the funnest fishing scene ever, talk about some pretty great clothing, chat about one of the best casts ever, praise the speed and rythm of the movie (and its amazing dialogue), call Spencer Tracy out for over acting (in a good way), get a little depressed about the movie's backstory, and we fall in love with William Powell. Libeled Lady was made in 1936, directed by Jack Conway and stars William Powell, Jean Harlow, Myrna Loy, and Spencer Tracy (available on DVD)
This week's episode starts with a look at Tuesday's elections, the latest in a series of disasters for the Democrats. Not only did Tea Party favorite Matt Bevin trounce Jack Conway to become Kentucky's next governor, but Ohio voters decisively defeated a marijuana legalization measure. Mike and Jay survey the electoral landscape, where things look … Continue reading "PG28: The Democrats' Horrible Election, Ben Carson's Tall Tales, Obama Rejects Keystone, and Papa Bush Slams Cheney & Rumsfeld" Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-politics-guys/donations Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
