HealthIMPACT Live Presents: Healthcare Innovation Reboot Part II - If HDO Innovation is a Profession, What Should a Disciplined Innovation Lifecycle (“IL”) look like?YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/WchtVvIOt-IOriginally Published: May 23, 2022We'll close out today with an amazing interview with Dr. Sachin Jain, CEO and President of SCAN Health Plan. Dr. Jain sits down with our very own Janae Sharp, CEO and Founder of The Sharp Index. They will lay the framework for our interactive roundtable discussion on innovation at Healthcare Delivery Organizations (HDOs). We will further explore innovation as a profession and discuss how to define an innovation lifecycle at HDOs. This follow-up session will dive deep into an existing innovation lifecycle ontology and conduct brainstorming and peer reviews of what could be turned into a set of documents and collateral we can use to build HDO innovation into a proper profession and establish a framework for a common set of values, steps, processes, and procedures that can be applied to the HDO Innovation space. Today I have the pleasure of sitting down with Carolyn Minnock, Chief Growth Officer of PeraHealth. I was introduced to Carolyn by my friend and colleague, Janae Sharp of The Sharp Index, and both Carolyn's approach and her story are fascinating. Based in The Rothman Index, PeraHealth is a company which provides usable, real-time clinical data to physicians and their teams. Physicians working with PeraHealth have access to easy-to-use, data-driven information which can provide surveillance across all conditions, diseases and care settings. Data are collected into easy-to-use and deeply informative visualizations, which facilitates smooth handoffs and exceptional patient care. Carolyn and I had the opportunity to discuss the long and winding road to her success, both within and outside of PeraHealth. We got to chat about the issues with the adoption & execution of even brilliant approaches like The Rothman Index (RI), and we discussed some ways that holistic health is being rediscovered in modern healthcare. Carolyn is a wonderfully precise speaker, and does a great job framing and explaining some of the more heady concepts that come up when discussing data analytics and algorithms. It was fascinating to hear how her background played into her story — everything from sports to Salesforce comes into play in ways you might not expect. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. Are you ready to connect?

In this episode of DocTalk, we interview Janae Sharp, founder of the Sharp index, on some of these larger, slightly philosophical questions surrounding physician burnout, including how to measure and define success, as well as the deeper layers of stigma that must be addressed as part of the process.
Warning: In this episode we will be discussing suicide, in particular, physician suicide. If you are sensitive to this topic, please skip this episode. If you are struggling, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. You are loved. You are not alone. This is a special edition of The Groves Connection. During the holidays we are delighted to have time with family and friends, to celebrate and reminisce about the successes, joys, and challengesd of the previous year, and to reflect on all that we have been given. It is a time for forgiveness, for love, and for gratitude. But for those beset with symptoms of depression or anxiety, the holidays can be a time of increasing stress, lonliness, and even despair. It is good to remember this, to remember to be present for those suffering. If we have not been there already, we or those we love may find ourselves there in the future. Let's tap that deep well of forgiveness and gratitude and reach out to our fellow travelers with love. I can think of no greater gift. In this episode I talk with Janae Sharp, founder of the non-profit, The Sharp Index. The Sharp Index was founded to address the problem of physician suicide. Janae shares her personal story. Her journey has not been easy. It began with her struggles with her husband's mental illness, an illness that amplified the feelings of helplessness, self-blame, and shame that often accompany the ending of a marriage. But the deeper tragedy is that shortly thereafter, she was forced to face the added tragedy of suicide. The man whom she had married with shared hopes and dreams, the father of their three young children was now gone. Suddenly, Janae was left to raise their three young children on her own, while dealing with the aftermath of this tragic event. Everyone suffered. Janae is a survivor. She has moved on with her life. Yet nothing is forgotten. Now she is giving back to those in need, through her own example and through the non-profit she founded. In this conversation, Janae gets real about her uncertainties, her ongoing challenges, and what it takes to move forward under that weight. I hope you will learn from this dialogue as I did. I hope you will reach out to make things better and support the effort in any way that feels right to you. While physicians have a very high rate of suicide as a profession, the pandemic has impacted all of us in one way or another. Join me in this difficult but necessarty conversation. It is time to connect. It is time to love. Are you ready?

HIMSS is a lot like college. You'll learn a lot at the lectures, but the true lessons emerge serendipitously -- often when you least expect them. On this episode of Data Book, Tom Castles chronicles the story of how he met Jeff Fried, director of product management and data platforms at InterSystems, and the healthcare (and life) lessons learned in the process. Then, Jack Murtha welcomes back our good friend Janae Sharp, founder of the Sharp Index, to talk about what she took from her 6th HIMSS meeting.
Janae Sharp, founder of Sharp Index, a nonprofit working to solve physician burnout joins me on Mission Marketing to discuss burnout in healthcare and how health tech companies can approach this important issue.
Editors Tom Castles and Jack Murtha are joined by veteran HIMSS social media ambassadors Janae Sharp and Geeta Nayyar, M.D. before pulling in an interview with HIMSS Chief Americas Officer Denise Hines, DHA, PMP, to talk about survival strategies at the HIMSS annual meeting. Whether you’ve never even heard of HIMSS, or this is your first time attending, and even if you thought you knew absolutely everything about the big show, we’re sure you’ll learn a thing or two
What's the difference between value-based care and value-based payment? How can we attribute outcomes and cost savings to specific innovations in care delivery? Does anyone really know what they're doing? What do the patients think? Who needs to be at the table to figure this all out? On this episode, guest-host Janae Sharp asks Don Lee and Shahid Shah about the VBP Forward Conference happening in Buffalo on February 20th and 21st. And we try to break down what's really happening in the move from Fee For Service to Value-based healthcare. See full show notes at https://thehcbiz.com/ep88-value-based-experiment/
In the final part of our discussion with Janae Sharp, Janae further discusses the loss of her husband and how best to support others through grief. She details some unique differences in responses by others when her husband died by suicide (eg, no GoFundMe pages, but requests for donations!) and emphasizes the importance of other survivors and their stories to her and her new community. She responds to the question of whether she is "sensationalizing" her husband’s death, but focuses on he [...]
In the second part of our interview with Janae Sharp, she discusses why she feels she has been a different kind and less restricted voice for physician suicide awareness. She notes that it is important for physicians to speak on this issue and that there is true power in community. However, she feels physicians are more silent on this issue as they tend to avoid "unsafe" and "uncertain" topics and are ultimately afraid of the potential repercussions to their licensure. Using her background in so [...]

Electronic health records have a lot of promise, but they’re not where they need to be. The ultimate goal is interoperability, which would enable patients’ medical data to follow them anywhere. But that’s not happening—just ask Seema Verma, MPH, the head of Medicare and Medicaid, and Janae Sharp, a health IT key opinion leader. In this episode, we dig into their stories and document the rise of the medical record.
