His goal? To truly understand the experience of a crowdfunding investor and leverage that knowledge to help others build wealth ethically and effectively.Paul explained, “I wanted to give investment plans for people without extractive corporations, without exploitations. For me to recommend investments, I really needed to know the industry at the most core level—that of a customer.” Immersing himself in the world of crowdfunding, he sought to experience firsthand the challenges and opportunities that investors face.Through his journey, Paul uncovered a standout takeaway: the power of debt crowdfunding, or as he calls it, “crowdlending.” He shared, “Debt crowdfunding is like the greatest thing that has happened to investing probably ever. From a financial planning standpoint, it's so helpful to have predictable monthly payments.” By crowdfunding amortized loans, investors can benefit from steady repayments of principal and interest, making it easier to plan financially.Paul's passion for crowdlending stems from its accessibility and reliability. “Crowdlending allows the general public to access private credit, an asset class that has been outperforming the stock market since 2008,” he said. For those seeking an alternative to traditional Wall Street investments, crowdlending offers a practical and impactful solution. This year-long experiment also led Paul to create the Crowd Capital Blueprint, a program designed to help compassionate people invest with purpose. The step-by-step system empowers individuals to move their money from exploitative investments to ethical, regenerative ones, while simplifying the process of building wealth with intention.Paul's journey proves that investing isn't just about growing money—it's about aligning finances with values. By embracing the principles of regulation crowdfunding, he's paving the way for a new era of financial activism, one investment at a time.tl;dr:Paul Lovejoy invested in regulation crowdfunding every day for a year to understand the experience. He discovered debt crowdfunding, or “crowdlending,” as a powerful tool for financial planning.Paul shared personal lessons from the 2008 financial crisis, including the importance of ethical investments. He created the Crowd Capital Blueprint to help people build wealth ethically and sustainably.Paul's superpower, healing through forgiveness, inspires others to grow from pain and help others. How to Develop Healing Through Forgiveness As a SuperpowerPaul Lovejoy's superpower is his ability to heal through the power of forgiveness. Reflecting on the shame and pain of being defrauded during the 2008 financial crisis, Paul explained, “The first step into healing is to simply acknowledge your suffering and to give yourself compassion for it.” He emphasized that forgiveness is not about excusing others but about freeing yourself from the burden of resentment. “Resentment is poison for the soul, and forgiveness is the antidote,” he said.In one striking story, Paul described forgiving Doug Swenson, the man who defrauded him and his family of over a million dollars. Paul explained that forgiveness wasn't about excusing Swenson's actions or ignoring accountability. Instead, it was about releasing the pain he carried. “I only was defrauded once, but I had to suffer every time in my mind that I thought about that,” he said. By forgiving Swenson, Paul was able to reclaim his energy and channel it into creating solutions for others through his work.Paul also offered actionable advice for developing forgiveness as a strength:Acknowledge your suffering: Recognize your pain and give yourself compassion to reduce its intensity.Forgive yourself: Treat yourself like a best friend who made a mistake, offering understanding instead of judgment.Visualize others living their best life: Imagine those who wronged you thriving, which helps release resentment.Focus on what you've learned: Use the energy freed by forgiveness to grow and create solutions for others.By following Paul's example and advice, you can make healing through forgiveness a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfilePaul Lovejoy (he/him):Principal Advisor, Stakeholder EnterpriseAbout Stakeholder Enterprise: Stakeholder Enterprise stands against a financial system rigged against everyday people, the false belief that wealth and ethics can't coexist, and the predatory tactics that keep people powerless. We are seeking to create a financial landscape where wealth is a tool for justice, a world where anyone can invest without guilt or barriers, and a movement that shifts economic power away from corporations and into the hands of real people.Website: stakeholderenterprise.comBiographical Information: Paul is not your typical financial advisor. He is a licensed financial advisor on a mission to democratize impact investing. Brad Farris is the Principal Advisor at Anchor Advisors, a consultancy that helps creative agency founders grow their leadership capacity and scale their businesses. With over 20 years of experience, Brad specializes in coaching agency owners to sharpen focus, raise prices, and build stronger teams. He is also a speaker and author, passionate about helping business owners find better ways to do things, make more money, and enjoy life more. In this episode… Scaling a business sounds exciting until you hit the invisible ceiling that stalls your growth. Many entrepreneurs know they should step back from day-to-day delivery, but actually doing it feels overwhelming or even impossible. What makes this particular shift so hard for business owners to pull off? According to Brad Farris, a seasoned advisor to hundreds of agency owners, the transition from doer to leader challenges an entrepreneur's identity more than their skills. He highlights that leaving behind the technical work, the very thing that brought early success, can feel like losing a part of yourself. This shift becomes even more daunting when the livelihoods of a growing team are at stake. It's a leap into unfamiliar territory, requiring new systems, team trust, and a mindset focused on sustainable leadership rather than personal execution. Brad emphasizes that this change is not just necessary for growth, it's essential for survival. In this episode of the Financial Clarity podcast, Hannah Smolinski is joined by Brad Farris, Principal Advisor at Anchor Advisors, to talk about why stepping out of client work is the most difficult transition in business growth. They explore how to reframe your role as a leader, build a capable team around you, and delegate without losing quality or client trust. Brad also shares how hiring smarter (and often pricier) can actually fuel scalability.

But according to new Australia Institute research, the gas companies aren't paying royalties on most of the gas they export. So what exactly is happening to Australia's gas? By Adam Turteltaub Much of the day to day of compliance isn't about understanding laws. It's about influencing human behavior and steering people in the right direction. In this podcast, Scott Young, Principal Advisor and Head of Private Sector at Behavior Insights Team, Americas shares that understanding how people make decisions can help compliance teams be more effective. To do so, he advocates for using behavioral science to gain a broader perspective for thinking about human behavior. The field has shown, for example, that the classic economics model of rational thinking doesn't always apply. Too often we operate in a semi-automatic mode, making decisions quickly, not really aware we are even making them. So what do compliance teams do? Adopt what he describes as the EAST Framework. Easy. Make sure the proper choice is the default choice. Attractive. Make compliance fun and engaging. Embrace gamification and other ways to make compliance more attractive to people. Social. Humans are social being and we are curious what others are doing. Thinking about tapping into the power of the group, such as leveraging social norms. Timely. Having reminders and controls in place when they are timely is difficult but not impossible. Look for the right moments of intervention and the right, often quick, reminder of what is the right thing to do. Listen in to learn more to learn how you put a behavioral approach to work for your compliance program.

LISTEN NOW!! We want to congratulate Jennifer in her newly appointed role as Director of Climate and ESG Policy, at the American Petroleum institute ( API).Jennifer Stewart is a senior energy executive with over 30 years of legal, financial and environmental strategy experience. She is the Principal Advisor for Equitable Origin EO100™ Standard for Responsible Energy Development. She also serves as an independent Board Member of Paragon Integrated Services where she chairs the Sustainability Committee and has recently taken a board seat on Seek Ops. She has received recognition for women's leadership in the oil and gas industry, including the Houston Business Journal's Top Women in Energy, the National Diversity Council's Top 50 Women in Oil and Gas, and the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce Trailblazer Award.Jennifer grew up in Ohio, married her high school sweetheart whose job took them out of state. This led Jennifer into the first part of her career, working for the IRS. At the time she did not have her law degree and found herself working with lawyers, who quite frankly she felt more competent then or at least equal to. This sparked a fire in her to go back to school, despite the fact she had a full time job and two little kids at home. She quickly found herself drained, tired and unsure if she would be able to finish. She walks us through this period in her life and how she managed to pull it off. Jennifer found herself in an interview with South Western Energy, not knowing anything about upstream oil and gas. The first role of its kind at the company, as the Vice President of Tax. She felt isolated at the start, since the position was a brand new role, as an independent contributor. She talks about how she defined success for her, this strategy made her indispensable at SWN. She was quickly noticed and found herself being asked to take over as CFO in a not so normal situation. You have to listen to find out what happened. Throughout Jennifer's story she created roles that didn't exist before her, that are now common within companies today. She provides advice on creating value through self study and learning from the team when taking on a newly created position or job. This strategy brought her to becoming one of the most sought after leaders in the ESG, Certification and the Climate change space.
