As we celebrate today, the Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven we share the first half of St. Josemaria's homily found in the book Christ is Passing By. Stay tuned for part II next week.

We explore the origins of the Vatican-CIA alliance and Josemaria's arrival in Rome. While Opus Dei consolidates its power in Spain and reaches an uneasy accommodation with Vatican II, it begins a major expansion into the new world, collecting friends everywhere from New York to Santiago. By the early 1970s, Opus Dei members are ready to play an integral role in the neoliberal coup in Chile, and offer theological and political justifications for the ensuing campaign of state terror and repression. This one has a bit of everything: faith, fascism, terrorism, miracles, murder and money laundering. SUPPORT THE SHOW HERE: https://www.patreon.com/c/GhostStoriesForTheEnd

A festa de São Josemaria no dia 26 de junho
Fr. Smith preaches the homily at the anticipated Mass of St. Josemaria Escriva
In this heartfelt and lively conversation, Fr. Phil and Fr. Paul dive into the life and message of St. Josemaria Escriva, the founder of Opus Dei, to explore what it truly means to become a saint in everyday life. With wit, honesty, and real-life examples, they dismantle the myth of the saint as a "spiritual superhero" and propose something far more attainable—and transformative: holiness through ordinary life. This episode touches on why sanctity isn't about doing something extraordinary, but about allowing God to work in us, especially through our work, our relationships, and even our study habits. Whether you're a student stressed about exams or a parent guiding your child's formation, this episode offers clarity and hope rooted in the deep message of divine filiation: you are a beloved child of God. Discussion Points: How the vision of Opus Dei reframes daily work and study as pathways to holiness. The connection between childlike trust and spiritual growth. The concept of gift-mentality and rediscovering wonder in ordinary life. Study as prayer and service: practical tips for students. What schools inspired by St. Josemaria try to cultivate: personal mentoring, deep friendship, and family involvement. How one-on-one relationships reflect the Gospel pattern of encounter, and how Jesus models this personal, loving attention. Join the Conversation Do you sometimes feel like holiness is out of reach or only for a select few? How have you experienced God working through your ordinary, everyday responsibilities? If you're a parent or educator, how do you help children see their work and life as a path to holiness? We'd love to hear from you!
Parecerse a nuestro Padre
A meditation preached by Fr. Eric Nicolai on a day of recollection in Ernescliff College on May 11, 2025.I saw photos of Pope Leo XIV visiting Santa Maria Maggiore, praying in front of the Icon of Our Lady, Mother of God. She is showing us the child. She is showing us her son during the month of May when we have recourse to her.We can ask him to stir up the fire of our faith. Put little twigs and branches into the fire. The best twigs to get that faith raging is the devotion to our mother, as mother. It may be small now, but little aspirations, glances at images of our Lady are there to awaken something within us. Josemaria would as to “Stir up that fire of faith. Christ is not a figure that has passed. He is not a memory that is lost in history.” Mary seems to stir up devotion in us. She awakens our faith and makes us strong.Music: Michael Lee of Toronto.Thumbnail: Icon of Mary in Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome.
Epicenter - Learn about Blockchain, Ethereum, Bitcoin and Distributed Technologies
Blockchain architecture is constantly being forced to adapt to new technologies, as well as to meet new demands from users and builders. While the idea of apps building their own chains was first explored by Cosmos, it lacked the support and tooling to see it succeed. Later on, rollups also took the centerstage of Ethereum's scaling roadmap, but due to their general purpose design, it led to a cannibalistic ecosystem. Initia learned from these 2 models and combined the best of both worlds: it built a full-stack framework for a seamless DevEx from the get-go and, more importantly, it designed its tokenomics in order to ensure maximum incentive alignment for its appchains. While the former decision removed the need for each separate chain to reinvent the wheel and risk ending up ‘a jack of all trades, master of none', the latter ensured that appchains would not extract value away from the L1.Topics covered in this episode:Ezaan's backgroundFrom building on Terra to InitiaHow Initia is rewriting the appchain thesisInitia's enshrined liquidity & vested interest program (VIP)Metrics & Initia's bet on crypto innovationSolving liquidity fragmentationDelphi's involvement in InitiaFuture roadmapEpisode links:Ezaan Mangalji on XJose Maria Macedo on XAnil Lulla on XInitia on XDelphi Digital on XDelphi report on InitiaSponsors:Gnosis: Gnosis builds decentralized infrastructure for the Ethereum ecosystem, since 2015. Many years ago I heard a quote by St. Josemaria that spoke about how we should love our husband as our first, most precious child.I couldn't find the exact quote, but when I heard the message of loving my husband as I would love my first, most precious child it hit me hard.In my marriage course, "Foundations of a Happy Marriage", I teach you how to love your husband - how to change your thinking about him, yourself, and your relationship, and how to treat him with the tenderness and compassion that with which you love your children.Check out my course, "Foundations of a Happy Marriage" HERE.Check out my free resources on marriage, parenting, home management, and faith life/mindset at janetquinlan.comFollow me on Instagram @janetquinlancoaching
A meditation preached in Ernescliff College, Toronto, on March 28, 2025. Its been 100 years since that day in which a young 23-year Josemaria Escriva was ordained to the priesthood in the Basilica of Our Lady of El Pilar in Zaragoza, Miguel de los Santos. There are things that we invite into our soul that leave us with a permanent imprint, a mark, an impression, like a long-lasting, expensive perfume that can become attractive to those around us. This is the story of the expansive grace of a man's ordination to the priesthood.Thumbnail: Josemaría Escrivá as a seminarian in Saragossa.Music: Original track by Michael Lee of Toronto

For this first week of Lent, we are sharing the beginning portion of St. Josemaria's homily In the Footsteps of Christ from the book Friends of God.
"To be eucharistic souls" was a great ideal proposed by St. Josemaria. Having our lives and hearts shaped by what we celebrate in the eucharist has various manifestations in our spiritual life. Adoration, receptiveness to God's love, imitating Christ's charity, joy, and thanksgiving are among the characteristics of truly eucharistic souls. https://comeawaybyyourselves.com
A meditation preached by Fr. Eric Nicolai at Hawthorn School in Toronto, on January 23, 2025. There is one line by St. Josemaria that might encapsulate a mystery, and a mission. A fundamental truth that is both very clear, yet very mysterious. Both exciting and scary. Something that applies to all of us and is clear as the day, but is interpreted as not really applying to us, but just to a few. There is something holy, something divine, hidden in the most ordinary situations (Conversations, 114) It is that something that is still mysterious, still not fully articulated, perhaps vague or tenuous that we still need to bring to life, and apply to ourselves today with hope.
A meditation preached at Lyncroft Centre in Toronto on December 20, 2024. With the scene of the annunciation to Mary, redemption has begun. But the last thing the angel mentioned was meant to show that the incarnation takes place within the larger context of the family, Mary's family, but also Elizabeth's family. God decided that Elizabeth should bear a son. Mary would participate in this, to give support. The unity of the members of a family - and, with more reason if they are children of God through Baptism - manifests the unity of God, his Creator: "The Christian family is a communion of persons, reflection and image of the communion of the Father and of the Son in the Holy Spirit”. (CCC 2207). This is the time to contribute to family warmth. Provide affection and service. St. Josemaria often explained that the model of our family life is in the Holy Family of Nazareth. He liked so much to imagine the personal and close relationship that Jesus, Mary and Joseph had, that he said to his spiritual daughters and sons: "to this Family we belong." A meditation preached at Lyncroft Centre, Toronto, on September 29, on the feast of the three Archangels, St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael. Today's Gospel from the 26th Sunday of Ordinary time does refer to a man casting out devils, and these spirits are bad angels. They too were created by God, but then they disobeyed, freely, they chose wrongly, out of pride. St. Josemaria evoked them for the first time in October, 1932 while on retreat in Segovia. He established each one to intercede over the apostolates of Opus Dei. Music: Original music by Michael Lee, of Toronto. Leading with daring might sound glorious but in practice it's actually difficult to define. How do we know when our daring is not rationale? And where can we look to find the surety that we need to dare great thing for Christ? In this fourth Leadership Lessons From The Saints we take a look at some of the comments by Jose Maria Escrivá. Not only did St. Jose Maria dare something great for Christ but he described it as a virtue and a necessary component to anything that would call itself Christian leadership.
On the Feast of St. Josemaria, we reflect on one of his most important teachings: the sanctification of work. After their conversion, the early Christians were encouraged to continue living the same life which God had already given them. St. Josemaria encourages us to do the same. Work is a blessing from God and key to a happy, fulfilled life. Working well is a condition for offering our work to God, thus making it holy and sanctifying ourselves and others in the process. Our life of prayer is an essential element in sanctifying our work, without times of intense prayer we cannot turn work into prayer. https://comeawaybyyourselves.com
