Last week, it was revealed that Elon Musk had welcomed his 13th child into the world several months ago with a conservative influencer. But he's not the only tech mogul fixated on boosting birth rates. In this episode, journalist Julia Black joins Taylor to discuss the rise of pronatalism in Silicon Valley—a growing movement encouraging people to have as many babies as possible. They unpack why tech billionaires are so suddenly obsessed with having children and how their vision of the future is entangled with right-wing ideology, eugenics, and genetic engineering. From embryo selection to potential threats to reproductive rights, Julia and Taylor explore the unsettling ways pronatalist thinking is creeping into politics and culture. What does this mean for the future of parenthood, women's autonomy, and the broader social landscape? And is this really about saving humanity—or something else entirely?SUBSCRIBE TO POWER USER ON YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/taylorlorenz

We've been talking about unlocking your limitless potential recently and I'm so excited about the thousands of people jumping on board, ready to break through their glass ceiling.  As a driven entrepreneur who wants to change the world, you know that breaking through to the other side is not the end of the journey – it's only the beginning.  Once you're on the other side, you feel empowered and limitless, and you go on to do things you've never done before.  And as you come to that new vantage point and start to see what's possible, your desire for more impact grows, and your drive gets bigger to serve even more people.  Oftentimes we view success as a destination.  “If I could just get to x.” “Once I make x dollars a month.”  “I know that when I achieve x then I will…”  But success is not an ‘x marks the spot' location on a treasure map.  It's not the final destination, it's part of the journey.  In this episode of the Epic Success Podcast, I'm talking with a former client of mine and all around incredible human being, Julia Black from The Lights On Mum. Julia is one of those people who has a big mission, a big vision, and a big calling. I can't help but brag about her and her work in the field of education with both parents and children, helping them tap into how they're wired in terms of their learning.  If you're ready to start your success journey, listen in!  The biggest take-aways from today's episode are:   “It is not the external that will make us happy and successful in life.”    It's the internal thought process that happens within ourselves. Once we master that, we realize that no matter where life goes or whatever our experience, we can be happy by choice. We do not have to be limited by circumstance.    “Success is not linear.”   We look at accomplishment as if it's linear. As if it just goes up, without any dips. But if you listen to the 1% talk about their success in business, they'll tell you it was the failures that were the catapults. We often aren't ready to hear that because we haven't done the internal work that redefines failure.    “It's when the fail comes, and how you respond to it.”   Failure is inevitable, and it's there to teach you something. There are tools that can enable you to rewire how you look at failure and how it impacts your journey. You don't have to put on a cozy blanket and grab a box of cookies and throw a pity party on the couch. You are capable of finding the lesson in failure and moving forward and accelerating.  It's so exciting when there is no longer a limitation on what you can do.  When you have that feeling deep in the marrow of your bones, knowing that you are capable and that there is more for you.  I want, so badly, to help you access that part of you.  And I know you're ready. To your success,Dr. Shannon Irvine ______________________________________________________________________ P.S. Are you ready to unleash that next level of success in your business and in your life? If we're going to break the entrepreneur glass ceiling and flip that switch to EPIC SUCCESS, to get qualified leads, to get paying clients, to get known in the marketplace, to get visibility, we've got to step through insecurity and fear. Uncovering that gem, she reworked her day to take advantage of gaps. Julia shares, “ Adjust your day to fit the goals you have for your day.” Will I ever get back in shape? Comparison through and after injury almost brought her down. Though a great teammate, she focused on herself and on what she was doing in order to sustain. She talks about noticing her and her teammates – without the normal socializing times due to the pandemic – were drowning in trivial things. And with that, she was walking through mental health challenges while at the same time running a personal best each and every weekend. What makes an artist worth cancelling or forgiving? What is it about the acting/entertainment industry that attracts abusers? How can these systems be reformed in a safer and more equitable way? Act-Age was quickly becoming one of the most popular manga and Japan, with an anime and stage adaptation both on the way. Then, one day, the artist was arrested for some of the most horrifying assaults imaginable, and the manga was nuked from every legal platform, leaving a trail of victims in his wake. We brought on Julia Black and Kait Fitzpatrick of the Playbook podcast to talk these issues through with us. Hello and welcome to another episode of the Migration & Diaspora Podcast, hosted from East Sussex, UK, by me, Loksan Harley. Today I am excited to bring to your airwaves a discussion with Julia Black from the International Organization for Migration's (IOM) Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC). Julia coordinates IOM's Missing Migrants Project, which deals with data collection and identification of missing migrants worldwide. Julia is also the co-editor of IOM's most recent report on migrant deaths and identification, Fatal Journeys 4, and has authored several other GMDAC publications. Before joining IOM, Julia ran a local non-profit in the San Francisco Bay Area. She holds a MA in International Affairs from the Hertie School of Governance, and a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. In today's interview, we learn all about Julia's fascinating work with the Missing Migrants Project, which tracks incidents involving migrants, including refugees and asylum-seekers, who have died or gone missing in the process of migration towards an international destination. We touch on some of the headline data that the project has collected since its creation in 2014, as well as the main causes of migrant death and disappearance and the different migration corridors along which these tragedies occur. And we discuss how Julia and her relatively small project team collects data from a variety of sources to shine light on these very troubling things that are happening to migrants around the world. I really enjoyed this interview and I was blown away by both the project's ability to collect and share so much data with such a small team. I also admire Julia greatly for her ability to explain the challenges, complexities and applications of the project's data work with such clarity. As always I'd like to thank you so much for listening and if you are enjoying the podcast, why not subscribe at Homelandsadvisory.com/podcast. Thanks again and enjoy. My guest today, Julia Black was faced with a very real problem to solve. Her daughter was struggling at school. She felt fenced in, crushed and dispirited. The light inside her 7 year old child, for learning, had gone out. What would you do if you were in that situation? For Julia, she knew something had to change. And so she took action. She and her family spent the next 12 years on an amazing real-world adventure exploring cutting-edge educational practices, neuroscientific developments and mental wellbeing research. And the good news is that she found a way to transform children who were totally bored by what school has to offer and turn them into the most intrinsically motivated learners. Be aware - this is not for hands-off parents. To light up your child, you must first turn on the light in yourself, and that is challenging yet rewarding work. Fortunately, Julia has transformed thousands of families through her Lights On® Academy. They are leading more positive, creative and happy lives because of it. #004 Earlier in 2020 parents around the world were faced with instantly becoming homeschooling parents - without choice - due to the worldwide pandemic. The bigger surprise has been the increasing awareness of how children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews learn and respond in this new environment vs the traditional education system. This wasn't a surprise to Julia Black - The Lights On Mum. She's been at the forefront of the education evolution for years and has been working with parents, grandparents, and other adults to see the light within their children. Her Lights On Framework allows the child to learn and develop in a way that best suits their learning style, rather than forcing the child into a model that's been accepted worldwide and often overlooks much of the creativity of the mind. The framework helps families discover their child's learning mindset and gives their children every chance to express who they were born to be through incredible real world learning possibilities. The learners explore through their passions and tap into the very best leading-edge brain science for maximizing their potential - on every level. What Julia has found is often the children who are labeled as having something wrong with them, being problem children, or having a learning disability, many times it's the learning system the child is being pushed into that is the issue. Listen in as we talk about all of this and so much more surrounding this Education Evolution. You can find more about Julia and the Lights On Framework on the Facebook page Julia Black - The Lights On Mum, or at https://explorium.co.uk/education-evolution.Would love to hear from you: what did you like or dislike, what was helpful, what steps you're going to take, and what would you like more of from Untapped Strengths with Angela W. When I first started out in my business I was a mess. Like… A really. big. mess. I was all over the place. I felt like I couldn’t do everything I wanted to do. I was juggling my home duties and being a wife. I was newly pregnant and running a business and my non-profit.  And I honestly thought I was going to have to give something up.I thought I was going to have to compromise my life and everything I spent years working towards. And then I realized (through lots of intentional study and work) that I could have the success I always dreamed of having…And I could have it by rewiring my brain. I went to school to study the way our brains are wired and this is what I found out…Our brains are set to autopilot the thoughts we repeatedly tell ourselves, and our brains are wired to keep us safe and familiar. That being said,I decided to challenge the way our brains are wired and I came up with my own method of rewiring our brains for our advantage. And I teach those science, brain-based methods in my Epic Success Academy.  In this week’s episode of the Epic Success Podcast, I talk with three of my Epic Success Academy members: Angela Williams Stillwell, Miki Sturges, and Julia Black.  These three incredible members have created the lives and businesses they’ve always dreamed of having with the help of the Epic Success Academy. Because of Epic Success Academy, they have been able to confront their negative thinking, rewire their brains to their advantage, and create the reality they’ve wanted.  Listen to their stories. You’re not going to want to miss it! The biggest take-aways from today’s episode are:   “I have a story to tell and I didn’t go through everything I went through to not share that story.” -Angela Williams Stillwell   Every single one of us has a story. A big, important, purposeful story. There is a need for us as individuals to show up and share our story in a big and impactful way. When we show up and share those stories, it changes lives for the better. [4:15] “So many thoughts stopped me… But I knew I was meant to show up and walk in my calling.” -Miki Sturges Negative thoughts will get in the way of what you are supposed to do. Self-sabotaging thoughts will hold you back from showing up and serving your audience. Because of Epic Success Academy, our members have been able to rewire their brain and their thinking and walk in what they knew God was calling them to. [19:03]   “When I feel the fear, I don’t have the negative thoughts and emotions that I used to hold onto because my brain and my thinking has been rewired.” -Julia Black   Julia had negative thoughts that stuck with her for close to 40 years. When she went through Epic Success Academy, she was able to rewire that thinking, replace that thinking, and feel more empowered than she ever had in her life. [44:02] Learning to rewire your brain is 100% possible. I know it because I rewired my own brain and I’ve helped hundreds of others do it too! If you’re finding yourself wanting that same kind of transformation, then I’ve got great news for you! The Rise of the Unleashed Entrepreneur Free Virtual Event is coming soon! 7 Mindset Tips For Mums In Business This week’s podcast episode is going to be a roundup episode of some the best nuggets of mindset wisdom shared on the Mums With Hustle Podcast. Let’s get into it! Key Takeaways: >> [0:28] This episode is proudly brought to you by mumswithhustle.com which is the ultimate online learning hub supporting mums in starting, growing and scaling drop dead gorgeous businesses. I’m Tracy Harris. I’m an Instagram Strategist, online business coach, and host of this podcast. >> [0:54] At Mums With Hustle we’re all about trying something new and spicing things up... Something we’ve wanted to try for awhile now is a round-up episode of some of the best nuggets of wisdom shared on the Mums With Hustle Podcast. MINDSET TIP 1 >> [1:45] First we have Cara Little who is sharing how she definitely has times when her work life balance is not in check. >> [2:10] When you become a mum, you usually struggle to find that identity again. Cara had to really do a bit of soul searching to become more confident in who she was and what she wanted to achieve. >> [3:27] The most successful people in the world have grit and perseverance. You can check out her episode HERE. MINDSET TIP 2 >> [4:34] This tip is from episode MWH 151 : Motherhood Meets Entrepreneurship : How I Built A Business With My Babies At Home and Endless Night Waking. Don’t get caught up comparing your success or your stage of business withs someone else’s. When you do this, you’re feeding the fire that you’re not achieving enough. That mindset doesn’t bring a good energy to the work that we need to be doing. >> [7:18] Progress and success in business does not come down to busyness and doing all the things. MINDSET TIP 3 >> [7:32] Next we have Kristin Bouse who is sharing how you’re going to have critical moments where you could either throw in the towel or just keep going. A really important expectation to have is failure. The more you can surround yourself around other people who are on the same journey as you, the better. You can check out the full episode HERE. MINDSET TIP 4 >> [9:54] I only ever aim to get three things done in one day. Some days I feel like I’m more in flow and I can bust out so much stuff, but then there are other days where I can only get one task done. >> [11:00] Life is full of expectations, and we are putting expectations on other people and on ourselves. You are the one that is putting the expectations on yourself. I’ve come up a “rule” of three and it makes me feel really good when I get things done. You can check out the episode this snippet is pulled from HERE. MINDSET TIP 5 >> [12:12] Up next, we have Shannon Irvine who is sharing why you need to become the creator of your thoughts. >> [13:35] You need to be really aware of your htinking because you’re always advocating for your story. So when you have a thought, ask yourself, “Does this thought bring me closer or take me farther away?” You can check out the full episode HERE. MINDSET TIP 6 >> [14:40] Staying on top of your mental health needs to start from the inside out. >> [15:45] I saw the shift when I began focusing on my thoughts. Realizing that you are not your thoughts is so poweful. You’re just the thinker of your thoughts. >> [16:50] Become aware that you can control your thoughts. You can think something else if what you’re thinking is not serving you. MINDSET TIP 7 >> [17:23] Finally, we have Julia Black sharing how you need to think back to what you love to do and re-kindle that purpose. >> [19:03] When a light goes out, you want to get to a point where you aren’t surrounded by darkness. You can check out that episode HERE. The Wrap Up >> [19:30] That was pretty freaking cool, right? So many fond memories recording those individual episodes! Ah, major thanks to Shannon, Julia, Cara, and Kristin for those incredible words of wisdom. >> [19:50] Ladies,

Instagram Mindset - How To Feel Good On The Gram Let's examine your Instagram mindset real quick. Have you ever looked at someone’s Instagram account before and felt a knot in your stomach for whatever reason? And then you get stuck in your own head thinking, “Am I ever going to get there?” or “What’s the point?” Or maybe you see someone in your own niche that you look at with envy because they’re always launching or coming out with something amazing, and you wish you could do that? Have you ever been there? ‘Cause that is imposter syndrome and when your inner critic comes to play, she’s never nice to you. Today, I want to talk to you about your Instagram mindset and those times when being on Instagram makes you feel less than. I’m going to share seven strategies to help you cope with your Instagram mindset and push through the imposter syndrome because in those moments, we are not our thoughts! And when we really work on our mindset, we are able to achieve so much growth in all aspects of our lives. Mindset work is something that we cover inside my private academy, The Social Method Society because your mind is a powerful tool that’s linked to your success. If you’re interested in learning more about a holistic Instagram marketing strategy, then you need to join. The doors are not always open, but you should jump on the waitlist so you're notified as soon as the doors are open again. Now, let’s jump into seven ways to help you feel good on the Gram! KEY TAKEAWAYS: >> [1:08] Do you experience imposter syndrome? Do any of the examples I mention here relate to you? If you’re nodding along, then girlfriend, we need to silence your inner critic ASAP. >> [2:04] When your inner critic comes to play, she’s never very nice to you. It’s important to know that going through this from time to time is totally normal! The good news is that you do NOT have to stay there. You can move through imposter syndrome with the tips I’m sharing today. >> [2:43] I’m sharing 7 tips to help you move through imposter syndrome to improve your Instagram mindset. These tips are coming from myself, other women in the Mums With Hustle Community and some members who are killing it in the Social Method Society. >> [4:07] The first strategy is a bit of a band-aid solution which is to unfollow people or stop looking at accounts that make you feel less than. I don’t feel like this is the best one, but it should get an honorable mention since many people recommend doing it. >> [5:07] The second strategy is that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, sometimes it’s fake. This analogy is brought to you by Colin Boyd. The deeper meaning behind this quote is powerful. We never actually know how things really are on the inside of that business or in that person’s personal life. >> [7:36] My third tip is going to help you get into your own self-awareness. When you’re self-aware of WHAT and WHY something is triggering you, you’ll be able to shift into a space where you can work through your feelings and make it mean nothing. ASK YOURSELF: What about this account, person, particular caption or photo, etc. is triggering me? How do I think, feel and believe because I’m looking at this account? Is there something specific that I'm I making it mean for me? Do I truly even believe my thoughts right now? Can I find an example that proves this otherwise? >> [9:24] Tip number four is all about disconnecting! Put the phone down and go do something that turns your lights on. This is something that my friend Julia Black spoke about before on the podcast. Her episode was MWH 179 : The Importance of Passion in Unlocking Your Mindset with Julia Black of Explorium. >> [10:03] The fifth strategy is to know that you don’t have to go at it alone in business. Become part of a network where you can go and speak about how you’re feeling. Never underestimate the power of relationships and friendships to help make you feel b...

Wie lässt es sich auf moderne Weise über Politik in der Öffentlichkeit sprechen? Und welche Politiker haben's doch noch drauf? Darüber spreche ich mit Julia Black aus Berlin.

The Importance of Passion In Unlocking Your Mindset Once you have passion in place in your business then you can go deeper into your mindset and use your time to explore and enjoy the adventure that you’ve began as an entrepreneur. Being successful in business is a process that evolves over time! So if you're keen to ignite your passion by keeping your lights switched on, then today's episode is going to be a game-changer for you! LET'S GET INTO IT Today's guest is Julia Black! Julia is a BAFTA and Grierson nominated documentary maker, social entrepreneur and innovator in education and CEO of Explorium. For the past 10 years she has been learning about how we unleash the human potential and tap into our 'divergent genius'. Initially this was to solve the immediate problem she faced as a parent, which was the glass ceiling on her own two children's education. Through her Creative Learning Centre, she worked closely with schools and realised that no matter what the external environment was like, what really unlocked the brilliance inside people was empowering them to tap into learning from the inside out. After analysing what worked and didn't work for 1000s of children, she created Lights On®, a transformational learning framework that places the ownership of learning firmly in the hands of the 'learner' so they can achieve extraordinary outcomes. THE RECAP During this episode, Julia is going to share why passion is a key factor when it comes to unlocking your mindset, how to figure out what you're passionate about, and various ways to reignite your passion in business! 1. Introducing Julia! Julia is seriously incredible, and I cannot wait for you to see why I invited her onto the podcast! Key Points We Discussed: Who is Julia? What is Julia's biz journey? How did Julia found her biz? 2. Children + Passion We are all born with genius inside us and over time that gets educated out of us. In this section, Julia is sharing what happens when our children's lights go off and how it impacts their learning. Key Points We Discussed: Why is it important to help children identify and develop their passions? How do children become disconnected from their passions? Why are children passive learners? Why is passion so important for children? 3. Finding Your Passion Anyone who is running their own business needs to be passionate about what they are doing - otherwise it is going to feel like a job. But a job you can’t leave at the end of the day! In this section, Julia is sharing the ONE question she asks her clients to help them find and unlock their passion. Key Points We Discussed: Why should you be passionate about what you're doing in business? How can you figure out what you're passionate about? Answer this question: What is it that switches on your lights? Define what having your lights on means to you. Get clear on what things switch your lights on and what really turns them off. Based on this very quick and easy analysis, you can then start to design strategies to make sure that you are in your lights on zone. What if you don't know where your passions lie? Look back to when you were younger. Remember a time in your life when you really felt alive and empowered by what you were doing. 4. Passion + Mindset When you have your passion in place, you can go much, much deeper into your mindset. The core concept of Julia's work is that we all have a switch that gets our lights on. In this section, Julia wants you to think about your brain being wired in a series circuit. Key Points We Discussed: Why does Julia believe passion is a key factor when it comes to unlocking one’s mindset? What is it about passion that is so game-changing in entrepreneurship? What is the importance of getting the parallel circuit in place? How does Julia recommend smashing through your self-limiting belifes to unlock your mindset?

Julia Black is a freelance writer and editor with more than a decade of experience technical writing and editing in the corporate world; creatively writing stories and poetry; and teaching writing and grammar. These skills merge in her blog writing, which has been featured on offbeatbride.com and offbeathome.com. While on this writing/editing path, she found herself studying metaphysical spirituality which eventually led to an energy healing/life coaching practice. The combination of these occupations creates two well-rounded practices that benefit from each other. As a natural empath, energy healing further helps her to see each client’s specific struggles and she incorporates writing and creative activities for each client to help them work through energy blocks for spiritual healing.
