John 15:1-6 1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. He cuts off every branch that bears no fruit! Verse 1 says my father is the gardener. While every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. Abide in the Father We should be connected directly to the source.
We catch up with our dear friend Hattie Kanyo as she prepares for the 2025 season. We will take a look back at her first Games Appearence, Her Offseason Success and what are her thoughts about the changes to the Games Season and the World Fitness Project? Plus what ever else we dive into.
Bear Fruit! John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. We are chosen and appointed (given the job) to go and bear fruit, but not bear just any fruit, but fruit that will last. Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. John 15:1-8 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. Jeremiah 17:8 He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit. When we are planted by the water, with our roots stable, we don't fear, and we will bear fruit. Trees need water to live to bear fruit The roots take in what is needed from the water source. The roots also give the tree a way to hold fast to the ground. The roots keep us grounded. We all know how hard life is and we can count on hard storms and circumstances to come and take us down. And literally knock the breath out of us. In the most desolate of times we shouldn't worry or stress but be confident because he is the source. And always bear fruit. Sometimes people depend on you to flourish and grow.
Is this Highly Favored? Luke 1:26-38 26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” 29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob's descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” 34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” 35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[b] the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.” 38 “I am the Lord's servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. ***** 28 The angel went to her (Mary) and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you. 30 the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. So Mary was favored by God! So, even though Mary was favored she still endured hardship and pain. Psalm 84:4 - Blessed and greatly favored are those who dwell in Your house and Your presence; They will be singing Your praises all the day long. Ephesians 1:6 - reads As a child of God, you are greatly blessed, highly favored and deeply loved. The miracle endured When you are favored you still have a job to do! When you are favored you have to surrender to God's will and get to work. 1 Peter 5:8-11 8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8nC-RnETd0 But, also remember this doesn't exempt you from heartache and hard times, but it does guarantee you victory if you know him and surrender to him.

“The Call” 1 Samuel 3:1-10 1 The boy Samuel ministered before the LORD under Eli. In those days the word of the LORD was rare; there were not many visions. 2 One night Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. 3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the LORD, where the ark of God was. 4 Then the LORD called Samuel. Samuel answered, “Here I am.” 5 And he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” But Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down. 6 Again the LORD called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” “My son,” Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” 7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD: The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. 8 A third time the LORD called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli realized that the LORD was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.'” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” The Call, the Response, and the Release – The Call And while in God's presence – God calls out to him, Samuel – –Response He didn't know God's voice… yet 1st Samuel 3:19-21 The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuel's words fall to the ground. 20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the LORD. 21 The LORD continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word. 1 Samuel 4:1 And Samuel's word came to all Israel. – Release Our primary calling is to glorify God! 1 Peter 2:9 He called you out of darkness into the light That is your calling! He calls you to a “who” before he calls you to “a do”. But, she was called 2 Timothy 1:9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.
We catch up with Coach Krispy Kreme to see how he is getting ready for his 2nd CrossFit Games as an individual coach and How getting Hattie ready is going!
Saturation Deuteronomy 6: 1-9 reads The Greatest Command 1 “This is the command—the statutes and ordinances—the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you, so that you may follow them in the land you are about to enter and possess. 2 Do this so that you may fear the Lord your God all the days of your life by keeping all his statutes and commands I am giving you, your son, and your grandson, and so that you may have a long life. 3 Listen, Israel, and be careful to follow them, so that you may prosper and multiply greatly, because the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has promised you a land flowing with milk and honey. 4 “Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. 7 Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates. When something is saturated it is not easily dried up! John 7: 37-38 37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” When you are saturated you leave a mark wherever you go! But sometimes in order to be completely and fully saturated you may have to be squeezed.
We catch up with Ascend Athlete Jacob Marlow to see what he has done in the offseason to better his chances at making it to the CrossFit Games.

Genesis 37:3-11 Now Israel loved Joseph more than his other sons because Joseph was a son born to him in his old age, and he made a long-sleeved robe for him. When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not bring themselves to speak peaceably to him. Then Joseph had a dream. When he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more. He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: There we were, binding sheaves of grain in the field. Suddenly my sheaf stood up, and your sheaves gathered around it and bowed down to my sheaf.” “Are you really going to reign over us?” his brothers asked him. “Are you really going to rule us?” So they hated him even more because of his dream and what he had said. Then he had another dream and told it to his brothers. “Look,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun, moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” He told his father and brothers, and his father rebuked him. “What kind of dream is this that you have had?” he said. “Am I and your mother and your brothers really going to come and bow down to the ground before you?” His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind. Joseph was a dreamer! A Delayed Dream But be careful who you tell– because not all will encourage you or be happy for you. Joseph's dreams were about God making Joseph a great leader one day. A few of the things he endured were. ● being betrayed by his brothers ● Thrown in a dry well to die. ● Sold into slavery. ● brought to Egypt, where he was sold to Potiphar, one of King Pharaoh's ministers. ● sent to prison for being wrongfully accused. Because sometimes when God puts a desire in our hearts it may look like circumstances are taking you in the exact opposite direction, and that's when the panic and doubt set in, BUT God's ways are better than our ways. If God had answered Joseph's cries to be saved, he would have saved him from a lot of pain, but he also would have blocked his road to his destiny– the destiny to become a great ruler. Sometimes we become reliant on every other thing EXCEPT God. God wants us to be completely reliant on him. So sometimes he allows us to be in positions where we realize we need him more than anything else, we simply need him. Just when you think the dream is fulfilled… I am here, he says wait a minute, there's more.

Stigmata was, impressively, the 49th-highest grossing movie of 1999, finishing just ahead of House on Haunted Hill at 50th (which is upcoming in this round!) It made $50 million domestically and just shy of $90 million worldwide on a $29 million budget. Opening at #1 on September the 10th at over $18 million on a spooky box office weekend that saw The Sixth Sense take second with $16 million and ALSO opening, Stir of Echoes, debuting at $5.8 million in 3rd, the music video of a movie was directed by, appropriately, a music video director named Rupert Wainwright and cowritten by Tom Lazarus and Rick Ramage, all three of whom having very limited experience in feature films prior to Stigmata. While Stigmata was a modest box office success, it was critically derided and has been largely reduced to a memory of the late 90s. It may well be the 1999est movie we've ever covered, and it does, at the very least, attempt to say something interesting. This week, John and Jenn are joined by John's OTHER co-host at Pod Only Knows, Kelly Baker, to talk about this interesting little relic.

Mark and I sat together with Keali'i (Kelly) and Hannah Baker for much longer than just the interview. They are so good for each other. Together they are building a wonderful life centered on their testimonies of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Kelly knows that the Atonement of Jesus Christ can change hearts, minds, and bodies. Before he went on his mission, he had never really read the Book of Mormon. After time lost, he finally read it--in six days! That experience ensured his testimony of that scripture. He talks about how his heritage has given him a purpose. And I really loved his explanation of what it means to be a member of the Tribe of Israel--stick around for that. Kelly is the type of person you want in your life because of his attitude, love, and strength.
