GRAHAM: "I REJECT VIOLENCE, BUT..." A BLOCK (1:49) SPECIAL COMMENT: Lindsey Graham is a Stochastic Terrorist, now trying to escape accountability. After insisting Sunday "there will be riots in the streets" when Trump is prosecuted, he now says "I reject violence. I'm not calling for violence. But..." The same man who said the night of January 6th "count me out, enough is enough" is now back in, laying the groundwork for another January 6th (5:49) Or maybe another Oklahoma City bombing. Trump has now posted an article comparing the FBI at Ruby Ridge to the Gestapo (7:00) And made another demand that he be made president immediately, directed to idiots Graham is encouraging to riot in the streets. (9:00) But, Special Master suit may backfire on Trump as DOJ plans 40-page refutation of Trump's lies in his filing (10:40) And Trump plant Tony Ornato has quit the Secret Service (12:00) Plus a microscopic answer to the question: Why did Trump steal all this? The report that Trump boasted of knowing details of the French President's sex life. B BLOCK (16:16) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Givenchy (17:49) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Biden's next "Freedom Speech," his approval ratings rise again, Chuck Todd may be fired from NBC's Meet The Press, and they recall Dinesh D'Souza's "book." (20:55) IN SPORTS: Serena starts her farewell well, and Aaron Rodgers admits he deliberately misled everyone about his 'vaccination.' And I'm proud of Aaron and Joe Rogan for confessing they're afraid of vaccine needles (27:46) WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Mike Lindell, Nikki Haley, and I vie for the honors. C BLOCK (32:45) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: A quarter century ago, the news broke from Paris that Diana, Princess of Wales, was dead. Beyond the tragedy, there is another story. That was the day American TV News eliminated any remaining dignity or sense of responsibility from its equations.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

After the success of previous episode A Muppet Christmas Carol they thought they could do another classic. The novel Treasure Island is a layup, right? Well, replace Michael Caine with Tim Curry and we are off to the races. Also, have it led by a child in his first role and you are in trouble already. How will Muppet Treasure Island hold up? In the latest episode of Sausage On A Fork, we're joined by Kevin Bishop aka Sam Spalding. Kevin has worked on some of the U.K.'s biggest and well-known TV programmes as well as having his own sketch show. However, before all of this, Kevin's first television job was a short-lived stint on Grange Hill. Kevin tells us why he was expelled from a fictional school and how, if this is hadn't happened, he would not have landed (in his own words) his biggest acting gig to date!
Oh we love a good April Fool's episode, just like we love a good Muppets movie. Anyway, as a special little Muppet treat for our listeners we swashed and buckled our way through 1996's Muppet Treasure Island starring Tim Curry, Billy Connelly, and Kevin Bishop. And like...all of the Muppets. As usual. Anyway! Please enjoy this absolute nonsense.

In our special holiday edition, our guest Aaron Greene who is a local historian tells us about the Christmas Day massacre of 1929. Charlie Lawson, patriarch of the Lawson family of Brooke Cove Road in Walnut Cove, North Carolina murdered his wife and all but one of his children. This murder has been talked about since it happened and most likely for years to come. No one is really sure of Charlie's motive, and we discuss the speculation behind it. I have uploaded a few photos as well as a link to the FOX 8 docu-series on YouTube to our gallery page on checkmatewithbishopandknight.com. Note: In this episode, our goal is not to slander or demean Charlie Lawson or the Lawson family name. No one knows what Charlie was going through mentally at the time, and while murder is never justified, mental health is the driving factor in many cases. If you are thinking about harming yourself or someone else, please reach out for help. Even if you don't think you have anyone who will listen, I promise that you do. When it comes to food, only one band can provide your own, personal, pizza. This is a definitely accurate biopic about the creation of Depeche Mode, the band from Stoke-on-Trent who rose to fame through their culinary skills. Honourable Mentions: I left my recipe on Treasure Island - After reminiscing with his pal the Swedish Chef on a sparsely populated Muppets Treasure Island reunion, Kevin Bishop begins trying to reclaim a meatball pie recipe he can barely remember, on a journey to an island he'll wish he could forget. The Epic Bacon Movie - When one group of YouTubers accidentally add a mysterious ingredient to one of their "epic" bacon food stunts, they face something far more terrifying than a living golem of salted meat. They face confronting their own insecurities.

Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi, Thrasher, and Jersey Jason discuss Muppet Treasure Island. The Muppets take on Robert Louis Stevenson's literary classic. After the success of The Muppet Christmas Carol, Brian Henson continued the Muppets plundering the classics with Muppet Treasure Island. A kind of polar opposite of the nuanced Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island goes for bombastic with Tim Curry as Long John Silver. It drags a good bit more than it should at times. Billy Connolly is very good as Billy Bones while Kevin Bishop does what he can with the bland character of Jim Hawkins. Claustrophobia 1643 I keep misremembering as 1648 (Treaty of Westphalia), Ausburg 15whenever is as forgettable as the game, Pulsar 2849 barely sticks in my mind, and now Caylus 1303. Look, it's hard enough to remember games without them injecting too many dates into their titles. Claustrophobia 1643 I keep misremembering as 1648 (Treaty of Westphalia), Ausburg 15whenever is as forgettable as the game, Pulsar 2849 barely sticks in my mind, and now Caylus 1303. I'd be tempted to just try and parse the game as "Caylus 13XX," but it's not about trains, now, is it? Andrew Harding has been the BBC Correspondent in South Africa for over ten years. Here, in a conversation with Kevin Bishop, he discusses reporting Africa, how to get into broadcast journalism and what it's like having a story commissioned by Greta Thunberg.
Perhaps it would be inevitable that there would be juvenile comments about the components in Catan: Starfarers. This is, after all, the gaming series that brought us endless unfunny remarks about wood and sheep. Perhaps the sculptors for the pieces knew what they were doing and, in turn, laughing at us. I suppose we must be thankful that Klaus Teuber remained high-minded--one shudders to imagine what the satirical outlook of, say, Vlaada Chvatil would have done with the same material.Games Played Last Week: -Street Masters: Aftershock 2m18s (Adam & Brady Sadler, Blacklist Games, 2019)-Big City: 20th Anniversary Jumbo Edition! 4m51s (Franz-Benno Delonge, Mercury Games, 2019)-Wavelength 7m46s (Alex Hague, Justin Vickers, & Wolfgang Warsch, Palm Court, 2019)-Warfighter: The Private Military Contractor Card Game 10m32s (Dan Verssen, DVG Games, 2019)-The Shipwreck Arcana 15m42s (Kevin Bishop, Meromorph Games, 2017)-Yggdrasil Chronicles 17m26s (Cédric Lefebvre, Ludonaute, 2019)News (and why it doesn't matter):-Tokyo Game Market 21m39s-Matagot Makes Pronoun Progress 22m00s-Spycon (Where Everyone Is a Spy) 23m46s-Warhammer Underworlds Digital 24m33s-Airship City in English 26m00s-Expanding Spheres of Influence 27m00s-Flotilla 29m07sFeature Game: Catan: Starfarers 30m08s (Klaus Teuber, KOSMOS, 2019)

Q&A #126 - Righteousness, Gender identity, Jr High awkward moments, Revelation follow up, group prayer and powerpoint1. In 2 Samuel 22:21-25 as part of a song David wrote to GOD he is saying that GOD saved him from his enemies because of his own blamelessness and cleanliness before the LORD. Am I misunderstanding the text? I don't understand how a man with multiple wives and concubines could consider himself blameless before the LORD. What are your thoughts on this part of his song? 2. My elementary school child is coming home saying that they are being taught that they can be boys, girls, or anything if they feel like it. How do I talk to my kids about this?3. My junior high aged son got asked out by a friend in his class who is a boy. My son didn't really know how to respond and thinks he may have unintentionally hurt the boys feelings. Any suggestions for my son on how to mend a friendship without making the friend feel judged for being gay, but still making it clear that he's not interested?4. In the last episode, (episode 125,) someone asked a question about the book of revelations, the question said that in the first chapter it says: “everyone who reads and understands it is blessed”My first question is do you have any idea what translation of the Bible the questioner was referring to? I read through 28 translations of Revelations 3:1 shown at the “biblehub.com” and not a single one of them had anything close to the word “understand” used in that verse. My second question/comment is: what are they teaching you in the Bible Schools you've been to that you didn't pick up on this? Probably the very first thing about Revelations that I was taught after I was saved was that this verse (Rev 1:3) says that you do not have to understand this book in order to receive blessing! Our teacher did go on to give an overview of the tools we should be using to interpret Revelations, but he emphasised that Revelation 1:3 is the very place to Start: - That you will be blessed to read it out loud, that you will be blessed to hear it read, and that you will be blessed to obey the commands written within it! Or do you disagree with this teaching? If so, Why?5. Community Group Prayer: it seems that the normal practice when small groups decide to pray that everyone lists of their needs and then we all take turns praying for different items on the “List” I feel that there should be so much more to group prayer than just a “Shopping List” - What do you think small group prayer should look like? 6. During corporate praise could the persons running the powerpoint be asked to advance to the next slide before the end of the current one: to paraphrase what I overheard Kevin Bishop say once: people can remember the last word of what they just saw but can't read the next word of what they can't see…
In this special edition of Coffee Hour at The Commons, Alli hosts conversations with various people who make up the community and congregations at our Cathedral in Hartford. She begins with a conversation with the Very Rev. Miguelina Howell, Dean of our Cathedral. They talk about the Centennial season this year, 2019, and all the wonderful events happening at our Cathedral throughout the year. A couple of years ago, our Cathedral was invited by the bishops into a discernment about the role and mission of the Cathedral in Hartford. This celebration of Christ Church Cathedral’s Centennial is an expression of our Cathedral’s identity and what they are embracing as a congregation and as a spiritual home for all of Connecticut. This episode you will learn about the congregational life of our Cathedral, the various committees associated with Christ Church Cathedral, Church by the Pond, Church Street Eats, and Music Moves Hartford. Alli first interviews the Rev. Canon Jorge Pallares, Canon for Congregational of Life at Christ Church Cathedral. She asks Canon Pallares to describe the life of the congregations that meet at our Cathedral. Canon Pallares says the life of the five congregations here are active and dedicated to ministry. The congregations meet throughout the week, including one congregation that meets beyond the walls of the Cathedral. Canon Pallares shares how he became involved in this position, and how the congregations are involved in the city of Hartford. Next, Alli interviews Jilda Aliotta, the Chair of the Congregations Committee. Because the Cathedral is made up of multiple congregations, there is no vestry, so the Congregations Committee fulfills that role, in some ways. Jilda has been a member of Christ Church Cathedral for 30 years, and has been a member of the committee for four years. The committee is becoming more programmatic, organizing the programs and events at our Cathedral. Alli then talks with individuals about the various ministries happening in, at, and by our Cathedral. She meets with Andrew May and Nancy Jacob to talk about Church by the Pond, again with Nancy Jacob to talk about Church Street Eats, Kevin Bishop to talk about Music Moves Hartford - and you’ll hear a clip from the practice - and finally with Theresa Greaves to talk about the Wednesday Wellness and the Zumba classes. Alli also grabs some Zumba Music to get you moving this Friday afternoon! This episode wraps up with asking Canon Pallares how folks can pray for the congregations and the life of our Cathedral.

"Life seems simpler for everyone else." Cédric Klapisch had been making films in France for ten years before he made his little film about a group of study abroad students from all over Europe working to understand each other, discover a new culture, and find themselves along the way. This little film, L'Auberge Espagnole, aka The Spanish Apartment or Potluck depending on where you find it, connected with people and became his biggest success. And rightly so – it's a charming film about figuring out what to do with your life and is made by a filmmaker who clearly is having fun while making it. Join us – Pete Wright and Andy Nelson – as we kick off a series about Klapisch's ‘Spanish Apartment' trilogy with his 2002 film L'Auberge Espagnole. We talk about the charm of this film and why it works so well with us. We look at some of the cast – notably Romain Duris, Judith Godrèche, Audrey Tautou, Cécile de France, Kevin Bishop, and Kelly Reilly – and why they all manage to work so well in their roles. We look at the nature of infidelity and how it fits into a story like this. And we talk about some of the clever filmmaking to sell the insanity of the ‘structured' world and why it makes for such a visually fun film. It's a joyful film to watch and one that works really well for us. Check it out then tune in! The Next Reel – when the movie ends, our conversation begins. Ashley Giles was an England cricketer playing on the biggest stage of all, contesting an Ashes series in Australia, when the call came from home. His wife, Stine, had been diagnosed with a brain tumour – the size of a cricket ball. A decade ago she had surgery to remove it, and then -- later -- further treatment when a second tumour was discovered. Now, Ashley and Stine have founded the Giles Trust to help the next person that finds them self in the same situation. Dallas with Balls The new BBC drama The Rack Pack recalls a time when Britain was Snooker Loopy. Steve Davis and his then manager, Barry Hearn, recall the 1980s heyday captured in the film, along with Steve Davis and Barry Hearn, actors Will Merrick and Kevin Bishop. Racing the Clock British sprinter Charles Eugster breaking records at 95, ‘The Golden Bolt’ doing likewise in Japan at the age of 105 ... veteran athletes are capturing the imagination as never before. Whatever happened to taking it easy? 88-year-old Betty Jean McHugh tells us that’s not an option. Since her first marathon at 55, she’s run another 20+ and broken multiple age-group world records. When she started, she’d train in the dark so people wouldn’t point and stare at an old lady out running. Why it’s Family Fortunes, not Family Feuds The Borlees are runners - Dad and Coach Jacques, identical twins Jonathon and Kevin, little brother Dylan and big sister Olivia. After three of them qualified for the Beijing Olympics, and two for London 2012, they're aiming for all four siblings to be on the plane to Rio. Why world beaters can’t beat the Fever With the Australian Open nearing the end of its first week, this must be a strange time for Robin Soderling. It's the first Grand Slam event since his retirement last month. Once the fourth best player in the world, Glandular Fever had prevented him from playing a match since 2011. One person who wasn't surprised at all by Soderling's decision was Kate Grey. A year out from London 2012, the Paralympic swimmer was World Number One and favourite for gold. But, by the time the Games came around, she'd already been forced into retirement. Kate describes how coaches just thought she was tired, and then how her hair started to fall out and how she took so many antibiotics she became immune to their effects. Arthur who? When 1009 not-out was scored this month by a Mumbai schoolboy, the cricketing world compared him to Sachin Tendulkar and predicted a bright future. But what about the man whose record he broke? English schoolboy Arthur Collins, with his scored of 628, had held the world record for more than hundred years. Arthur's name was mentioned in this month's stories .. but that's about all. Four glorious afternoons of batting promised so much, but Arthur was weighed down by all the expectation. He joined the army and played for his regiment before, like so many, losing his life in the First World War.
