In this episode, we chat with Lara Hope and Jesse Scherer about the O+ Festival, coming up October 11-13 in Kingston, where their mission is to exchange the art of medicine for the medicine of art. Hear all about the origin story of O+ (which also sounds like the beginning of a joke), their unique model to provide healthcare for all, and their incredible initiative to expand services beyond the festival with a year-round clinic. Find out more, get involved, and get details about the festival at www.opositivefestival.org. They can also be found on Instagram and Facebook.  Our Westchester Valley Girl, Danielle, gives us the lowdown on block party season in the Rivertowns on our 411 of Westchester segment. Check out the Sleepy Hollow Street Fair and the Ferry Festa in Dobbs Ferry, both on Saturday, October 5th, and the Rivertowns Chamber of Commerce Halloween Block Party on Friday, October 18th in Irvington. Our Capital District Valley Girl, Rebecca, will make your mouth water describing the stick-to-your-ribs and other authentic New York deli fare from Gershon's Deli & Catering in Schenectady. Thanks for listening! To help support The Valley Girls, please follow our podcast from our show page, leave a rating and review, and please spread the word and share our podcast with others. Sheila Dvorak Galione is a writer, artist, singer, mother, healer, and intuitive coach who seeks to bring her insight and passion for the power of story to every aspect of her work. For years, Sheila supported non-profit and community organizations through grant writing and other responsibilities, but she stepped into the void to first process the passing of her sister and then clear the way for her to pursue her own work that allowed her a greater balance between work, motherhood and her health. She created Painted Pathways, a healing practice combining artistic expression, reflection, and conversation. Throughout the process, she assists others in creating a visual representation of your life, allowing you to see your strengths more clearly, and identify where you can visualize growth and change. When she's not doing this work, she's directing school plays, writing music, and performing as Sheila Dee with the band Sheila & The Deep End.The band formed in 2014 and quickly grew from performing originals and covers during dinner theater shows, to opening sets for rockabilly band Lara Hope and the Ark-tones, to headlining historic venues and clubs around the Hudson Valley, including the Rosendale Theater and Live at The Falcon, among others. She writes and performs original, evocative, old-school rock-n-roll, and her debut album “Has to Be Real” is available on all streaming platforms and features melodies that take hold in the heart, funk that moves your feet and dynamic harmonies that fill your ears.During our conversation, Sheila eloquently and authentically shares her life with us, from growing up in a musical family, to being disillusioned by Hollywood after a stint with a reality show and moving to the Hudson Valley where she reconnects with her love of music. She openly shares about the unexpected loss of her sister and how she continues to move through the grief of it all including writing music with her in mind. She recommends the podcast Quit Happens to anyone else out there looking to make the leap, and she wants to bring back the Tributon to the Hudson Valley so if you too yearn to join forces with other musicians to honor music's faves, get in touch!Today's show was engineered by Ian Seda from Radiokingston.org.Our show music is from Shana Falana!Feel free to email me, say hello: she@iwantwhatshehas.org** Please: SUBSCRIBE to the pod and leave a REVIEW wherever you are listening, it helps other users FIND IThttp://iwantwhatshehas.org/podcastITUNES | SPOTIFYITUNES: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/i-want-what-she-has/id1451648361?mt=2SPOTIFY:https://open.spotify.com/show/77pmJwS2q9vTywz7Uhiyff?si=G2eYCjLjT3KltgdfA6XXCAFollow:INSTAGRAM * https://www.instagram.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast/FACEBOOK * https://www.facebook.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast

This weeks episode features Ed Daley and Co. A great Mix of musicians playing Ed's original tunes. I was joined again this week by my good friend Mike Hollis. On this Episode we discussed many things like what the bathroom situation at snugs is. Maybe its aliens on the back patio. you know the regular stuff. Ed and the Crew came through and played some great tunes. I messed up the band name a few times during the episode so for the record their name is Doc Edison and The Good Time Machine. They are based in the Hudson valley and play an eclectic mix of classic rock and danceable tunes that are sure to get your booty shaking. Ed came on to promote some shows him and a few of his other groups like Snow bear have coming up. If you are in New Paltz be sure to try and catch Ed performing with one of his many bands. Girl Talk get's cute with an audio recording of Shana and Mike singing Theresa "Happy Birthday." Haha... Love celebrating Theresa. Then we go deep into the subject of doubt and whether it's useful or not and how to move past it. What are your thoughts? Our first guest today is Jennifer Dignon of Heart Child Yoga. She is a yoga teacher and therapist here in the Hudson Valley, working mostly with kids and kids with special needs. Before she became a yoga teacher, she was a teacher for special needs kids. She always brought yoga into the work that she did and explains how it helps to make the children feel better and relax. She talks about how children are often misunderstood, about how their abilities BECOME disabilities from adults and educators perspectives, which she consistently works to redefine. Using yoga, sound healing, dance, essential oils, and her Conscious Support Method of tapping into the children's feelings in the present moment, she is really able to serve these special humans who she refers to as her gurus. Our second guest today is Lara Hope, a local Hudson Valley touring musician. Her band is Lara Hope and the Ark-Tones.They just got back from a whirlwind tour opening for Brian Setzer of the band The Stray Cats. Lara shares about her growing success, hard work ethic, her ability to keep moving forward, and how getting the booking agent of her dreams who focuses on roots music was the missing piece of the puzzle. Hear the story of a super fan who saved their van and their show in Hudson, and Lara's favorite story from someone who benefited from their music when they were overseas in a military barracks. Lara talks about supporting female fronted bands and being around women on tour which can be a rarity. She leaves for tour again later this January, check out her dates HERE. Self care is all about cake today! Well sort of. Theresa is serenaded by friends and co-workers with chocolate cake, but then we do get into it with self-care wisdom by Lara Hope. Neurofeedback, talk-therapy, nutrition and yoga are what she turns to. Theresa is back to journaling, her own form of talk therapy, and of course, cake. Today's show was engineered by Manuel Blas of Radio Kingston. We heard a clip from the film RBG, Lara Hope and the Ark-Tones and Shana Falana. Until next week, love yourself and uplift one another! ** Please: SUBSCRIBE to our pod and leave a REVIEW wherever you are listening, it helps other users FIND US :) Follow Us: INSTAGRAM * https://www.instagram.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast/ FACEBOOK * https://www.facebook.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast TWITTER * https://twitter.com/wantwhatshehas
