At that point, Bronson started to question what he was doing.  Eventually, Bronson realized that if you aren't moving forward, you are moving backward. [05:30] How Bronson Started To Change His Lifestyle  First, Bronson stopped eating french fries.  He was eating three to four servings of french fries a day.  It took a year for Bronson to stop thinking about fries.  Plus, Bronson would eat out all of the time. So, he needed to change that habit.    [14:30] How To Let Go of Something To Grow and Improve  You have to live within who you think you are. If you don't like where you're at, you need to change your reality. Make the changes you need to be in the reality you dream about.  Overall, you have to let something go in order to move forward.  [16:40] Eat More Protein and Build Lean Muscle Mass  Bronson recommends reading Keto by Maria Emmerich. Protein will build, whereas carbs and fat will be fuel.  Also, Bronson says to check out The P:E Diet: https://pedietbook.com/ You don't want to have your protein lower than your fuel.  Take your lean mass, turn it into grams, and that's how much protein you want as a minimum, and that's the maximum that you should have for fat and carbs combined.  [21:50] The Difference Between Animal-Based Protein and Plant-Based Protein   Animal-based protein is bioavailable; your body needs to be able to use that protein.  If you get protein from plants, your body has to do extra work.  For example, if you're getting most of your nutrients from plants, then you need more vitamin C because you're not getting as much collagen.  There's a bunch of extra work you need to do when you're getting protein from plants.  [28:40] Why Bronson Is A Huge Fan of Living a Carnivore Lifestyle   Bronson follows a carnivore diet, but he has butter and eggs.  He eats about eight eggs a day.  Bronson loves cheese, but it doesn't love him back.  Before Bronson started his health journey, he was lactose intolerant.  However, he can now have dairy with no gastric distress.  Right now, he eats a lot of lamb, sausage, and eggs.  [36:15] Bronson Gives Tips For Increasing Your Muscle Mass   First, you need to realize that it doesn't take a lot.  All it takes is increasing your current load.  You need to help your body manage external stress. Nutrition and exercise are 50/50.  You can eat perfectly, but if you aren't using your body, you can't handle anything externally.  The more you can improve your body, the more you will keep progressing.  [43:40] Here's The Marker You Want For Your Skeletal Muscle Mass  45% skeletal muscle mass is what men should have.  40% skeletal muscle mass for women. You need a body composition scan.  Bronson weighs 185 and has a muscle mass of 93 pounds which is 51%.  Instead of focusing on weight loss, focus on building muscle mass.  You don't lose weight to get healthy. Today, I am blessed to have here with me Abby Durlewanger. Abby started the Ketogenic lifestyle in 2017 after doing just about every other diet. She was consistently losing weight and then would gain it right back on the weekend. She found it hard to stick other diets because she was always hungry and having cheat meals. She thought she could exercise the pounds away. After weeks of research she finally decided to give Keto a try, but vowed it would only be for 6 weeks. After week 1 and the surge of energy, focus, and results she saw, she was hooked! Abby has lost over 130 lbs and 145 inches. She went from a size 20 to a size 2. From a size 4x to a size Small. While Abby is very passionate about the Ketogenic lifestyle she credits all of her success to the revelation God gave her about stewarding her body. She was able to acknowledge she has a food addiction and was using food to cope with trauma from childhood, depression, and anxiety. It was when she was diagnosed with Postpartum Depression after the birth of her son that she was at her lowest point in life. However, Abby felt hungry all of the time, and she needed food constantly. Abby's trainer said to try a keto lifestyle. Within the first week of keto, Abby already felt better. Instead of experiencing the keto flu, Abby felt a surge of energy. For the first time in Abby's life, she forgot to eat breakfast! She naturally started incorporating fasting into her lifestyle. [06:30] Instead of Eating Dietary Fat, Use Your Body Fat People think that you need to consume a lot of fats in order to be keto. However, the metabolic state of ketosis is not synonymous with weight loss. It's possible to be in ketosis and gain weight. What are your goals? That will determine what you need to do. If you're trying to put on muscle, then you're someone that needs to eat more fat. Children will also need to eat more fat on the ketogenic diet. If you are overweight, the fat from your diet can come from your stored body fat. [11:00] Why Abby Decided To Do A 41-Day Water Fast About two and a half years ago, Abby got diagnosed with a rare breast disease. It looks like breast cancer, acts like breast cancer, and is treated like breast cancer. At the time of her diagnosis, less than 1,000 women in America had this disease. Basically, no one knew what they were looking at, and no one knew what they were doing. They wanted to treat Abby as though she was a cancer patient, but they could not find a cancer cell. Abby was in the worst pain that she had ever been in her entire life. What Abby had was something called idiopathic granuloma mastitis. Eventually, Abby decided to do a water fast to let her body heal itself. Luckily, Abby was able to avoid chemo and avoid getting her breasts removed. [27:20] The Physical and Spiritual Healing That Happens During A Fast Every religion talks about some type of fasting. During her fast, Abby felt like there was nothing she could not do. Fasting helped Abby's mental health. During the 41-day fast, Abby had an awakening. She saw who she was and how she could contribute to the planet. Now, Abby has loads of confidence; people tell Abby that she seems like a completely new person.
