What does real leadership look like when your team is working through blackouts, missile strikes, and the daily uncertainty of war? In this powerful episode of The Leadership Enigma, host Adam Pacifico sits down with Maryna Pavliuk, General Manager of Glovo Ukraine a delivery platform that became critical infrastructure from the very first day of the Russian invasion in February 2022. Maryna shares her extraordinary journey: from nearly turning down the GM role while eight months pregnant, to returning to Kyiv as one of the first wave of leaders to go back, to growing the business from 10% of pre-war levels to one of Glovo's top 5 most profitable markets globally. In this episode you'll discover: - How Glovo pivoted to deliver medicine, food and essentials to frontline cities from day one of the war - Why Maryna chose to return to a war zone instead of relocating to Barcelona - What "being the eye of the storm" really means as a leadership philosophy - The concept of managerial courage and why it matters more in crisis than ever - How Ukraine's economy is gaining a powerful new feminine face - Why there is no playbook for leading through radical uncertainty and what to do instead - Lessons being shared with UAE businesses now facing their own conflicts This is not a conversation about leadership theory. This is human-centred leadership in its rawest, most courageous form.

We're very excited to be going to this year's European Congress of Mathematics (ECM), which will take place in Seville, Spain, in July! We noticed that mathematicians who win one of the prizes awarded at the ECM by the European Mathematical Society quite often go on to win a Fields Medal, one of the highest honours in mathematics. So to celebrate the run-up to the ECM we've launched Euromaths, a miniseries of podcasts revisiting interviews with Fields Medallists who previously won an EMS prize. This week we hear from Maryna Viazovska who won a Fields Medal in 2022 and an EMS prize in 2020, talking about the theory of optimal transport and how it applies to a wide range of things, from crystals to clouds. You can read about Maryna's work in this article. To listen to previous episodes of Euromaths click here. This content was originally produced as part of our collaborations with the London Mathematical Society and the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences. Digital ad revenue is expected to exceed $600 billion worldwide this year, and yet despite such a lucrative and growing industry, it seems like it's never been more challenging to be a paid ads manager or consultant. We talked in a previous episode about iOS changes, cookies going away, and all of the other challenges and changes facing digital advertising. As a result, advertisers are not only turning to new strategies, they're employing new tools and leveraging AI any way they can to find the seam. Where should you turn your attention, and what advanced advertising strategies can we reliably turn to? That's what Maryna Burushkina is here to help us with. Maryna is the Founder & CEO at Growth Channel AI, as well as a Digital Marketing Consultant and Trainer. She has helped hundreds of multinational companies (such as Allianz and Philips) reshape their marketing to drive accelerated growth over the last decade. And she is building an AI technology to solve marketing inefficiencies using the power of data and micro-segmentation. The MarTech Show hosts Robin Dimond and Mike Allton will talk to Maryna about:

Safe Unsound | Documentary What is Safe Unsound about? Three Ukrainian families find a foothold in a remote corner of Ireland. How temporary is their life there? No one knows. ---------- LINKS: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/d-j-b/safe-unsound-documentary ---------- THE TEAM: Daniel James Baldwin - Director and Producer Hannah Tookey - Producer Steve Lacey - Executive Producer Daria Korsak - Editor and Translator Jackie Teboul - Director of Photography ---------- In Spring 2022, the plight of Ukraine and its people was at the forefront of our minds and we opened our arms to them. Today, 6 million displaced Ukrainians face a souring of that mood, and Moscow is poised to take advantage the moment our emotional fatigue kicks in. Safe Unsound is a story about the human cost of war told from the perspective of three Ukrainian families containing three generations. In County Mayo, in Ireland, where they moved after the invasion of their country, they are far from the frontline, and very far from home. Victor and his wife Ludmilla imagined spending their retirement eating apples in their orchard, not learning English in an abandoned schoolhouse in Castlebar. Kate planned to learn to dance, not leave her law career and husband in Kyiv to work day and night to rebuild a life for her young children in the countryside. Maryna hoped to support her four kids and help them thrive, not keep the peace at home while her eldest daughter, Arina, works to make ends meet. This film explores these families' efforts to contribute to, and fit into, Irish society as well as their tireless quest for control, momentum, and independence. ---------- SUPPORT THE CHANNEL: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtain https://www.patreon.com/siliconcurtain ---------- TRUSTED CHARITIES ON THE GROUND: Save Ukraine https://www.saveukraineua.org/ Superhumans - Hospital for war traumas https://superhumans.com/en/ UNBROKEN - Treatment.
