History of distillery1890's in scotts level, distillery owned by L. winand and bro. Produced pikeville whiskey. Pikeville was the next town over, not sure why they didnt name it scotts level rye.He owned it up to prohibition, and there is an elementary school and a tea kwan do facility named after him there. His story ends hrer1936, Andrew W Merle acquires the brand and the recipeAndrew was not a distiller, but a business man who now owned a well known brand. But he found a distiller and sarted producing Pikesville Maryland RyeHe formed “standard distillers Products” (SDP), which was also associated with….. The most corporate nonsense name ever seen….”The Corporation Trust Corporation” (CTC)CTC owned Monumental distilling, which was where pikesville was made, in Lansdowne, Maryland.Majestic distilling corporationIn 1942, there was some accident at the distillery, the details and little known, but there was an explosion and smoke stacks fell. pretty much right after this happened, Monumental distilling no longer existed, and it became majestic distilling. Owned by Zellic Cohen. It continued to be the distillery so whatever damage happened it was repairable. And there are a few pictures that seem to be relatively minor in damage.1972Majestic may be owned by Cohen, but the Merle family still owns pikesville brand.1972 is the last year they distill anything, and the branding changes to Maryland-STYLE RyePreculation is out on where they got the juice. Pikesville is the last maryland distiller at this time, so whatever the juice, its not coming from maryland. Most likely its pennsylvania Could be publicker, AKA continental distillersThe were the original distillers of rittenhouse, so its possible its them and that would be the conection to heaven hill later (spoiler)Michters also could have produced it.1982Andrew Merle Jr. sells pikesville to Heaven hill. Sales were low, and cost was high. It was time to get out.Note on monumentalMonumental is still around today as a brewery. It was located near baltimore and has become a destination brewery to visit.Maryland style rye?Maryland style has a lot of corn. Tasting Notes:Most Mysterious Whiskey in the World Michter's Sour Mash. With new distilleries sometimes bending over backwards to reveal the source and make of every aspect of their products, it's a weird throwback to encounter a product like Michter's Sour Mash. It's not a bourbon. It doesn't have a published mashbill. It doesn't say where it's distilled. It doesn't have an age statement. As a simple "whiskey" it could be a fair number of different things, but it doesn't really go into ANY of that. So, ultimately it doesn't really matter what the background of the whiskey is, you just have to judge it purely on TASTE! On the nose, purest old "dusty" sweet brown sugar nose of any "bourbon" on the market. Some lemon tart thrown in as well. On the palate, the 86 proof is so soft and sweet to drink you'd think you were sipping a bottle of National Distillers OGD. Intensely flavored, buttery soft, with light leather and orange peel as well.
How manage our time isn't about adopting the habits of the most effectively productive people, or working the 20 hour work week, or even finding that perfect spreadsheet to spread your data in all the best ways. NO! In 4,000 Weeks, we learn that managing our time is all about managing ourselves, our priorities, and our expectations. It's a deep topic this week, and we're going to need a really smooth sipping bourbon to help the medicine go down, like a drunken Mary Poppins who may or may not have a problem. That's why we'll be sampling Michters Small Batch Bourbon.

On this episode, I offer a quick POV on the shakeup at Twitter. I reference: Twitter changes Musk plans to implement: Roll out new subscription options Reduce app's reliance on ads Make significant headcount reductions Consider bringing back Vine to directly compete with TikTok Push for free speech (which means a lot of highly controversial, anti-Semitic, hate speech, which isn't against the law, but is currently against most platform policies, could soon be allowed in the app) Allow users to choose their own Twitter experience through open source Undo permanent bans of controversial figures, including former President Donald Trump Sircle stance: ADS: Brands who are interested in running ads on Twitter may want to rethink advertising there, as Musk's updates to Twitter's policies might explicitly allow ads to run alongside toxic content such as hate speech, pornography or misinformation. VERIFICATION: The blue check used to be the way to verify people are who they say they are and also convey to users who is a trustworthy source of information. Given the change in a subscription model, we do not recommend paying a fee for the limited upside. Update for brands verified and on Twitter: Earlier this week, reports noted that Musk and Twitter are revamping the verification process, and it might involve a fee as high as $20 per month. However, he seemed to settle on $8 per month pricing for now. The reports also noted that the current set of verified users will lose their blue checkmark if they don't pay for the new paid plan. Under the current plan, verified users would have 90 days to subscribe or lose their blue checkmark. Note - this new feature should be launching soon but has not yet. What you might get if verified: Subscribers would get priority in replies, mentions and search, ability to post longer video and audio content while getting half as many ads as free users What are we seeing other agencies/brands doing?: One of the world's biggest advertising agencies recommended its clients pause campaigns on Twitter, and at least five top execs have ditched the company in the past few days. Clients verified that should be alerted: Michters (verified/have a TW presence) Mezzetta (verified/have a TW presence) Any other clients with a TW presence and/or running ads with another agency Articles to reference: https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/how-will-twitter-change-under-elon-musk/633767/ https://fortune.com/2022/10/30/elon-musk-twitter-pushback-celebrities-lawmaker-advertisers/

This week we review Michters Single Barrel Rye and Victor is back. He disliked it so much he almost finished the bottle. A rye whiskey that is light on the rye and almost drinks more like a bourbon than a rye but is a smooth sipper that many will enjoy. The low proof or lower rye content could be the contributors here but who knows? Following our review we discuss one of the hottest and most controversial current topics, Andrew Tate. We discuss a little about him but dig into what he has said and our thoughts on the whole situation. As always, thank you for listening and "Keep it neat friends".
