Can you tell me who will still care … about MMMBop? We do! Twenty-five years after Hanson burst into pop music with their smash hit MMMBop, we're looking at the lyrics and nodding sagely at the brothers' precocious wisdom. Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson talk to BL and BW about breaking into the music industry as children, their 30th year together as a band and what they see as their creative higher purpose. We're also picking through award-winning NZ director Jane Campion's milkshake duck weekend and talking about how she went from good viral — slapping down Sam Elliott's take on The Power of The Dog — to bad viral — telling Venus and Serena Williams they've never had to compete against men, like she does. What made the internet angry this week?Jeremy Baker joined us on the podcast this week. Jeremy gives a short tease about his podcast. Derek and Dale both got the tough guy AstraZeneca vaccine and made it a competition of who got it at a dirtier pharmacy. The guys decide they'll probably wear masks on transit forever now. 1.5 Mil of the canadian AstraZeneca vaccine doses came from the same plant in Baltimore that contaminated the 15 Mil Johnson and Johnson vaccines. Jeremey has been taking weekends off of social media. Twitter is now the old platform on the block whereas Tik Tok is the scrappy young kid. Scrappy enough to get sued for billions. Are targeted ads that bad? Jeremy had to cut out early to go watch the Oscars which Dale and Derek were not up to date on at all. Dale loves James Marsden but hates movie theatres. Parasite was a good movie but it didn't hit next level creepy like Dale was hoping. Colton Underwood was supposed to get a reality series but he got milkshake ducked before it got off the ground. Dale likes Kevin James but understands that most of the listeners don't. Derek Chauvin got convicted of murder.Find Jeremy:Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCujlpGD5X53KygEZNlSZy-wTwitter: @Jeremy_BakerFind us:Youtube: www.youtube.com/channel/UC8pWFBfrmKh-0xl47DVUNVQWeb: www.outragefactory.comReddit: r/OutragefactorypodTwitter: @OutrageFactPodFacebook; www.facebook.com/outragefactpodEmail: Outragefactpod@gmail.comCheck out our new redbubble swag https://www.redbubble.com/people/Dalebot/explore?asc=u&page=1&sortOrder=recent

Welcome to Episode 151 This week you get us twice. Did you listen to the bonus episode yet? If not, get on it. On this episode Professor Steve teaches the class what a "Milkshake Duck" is. FYI: Dan's been working an abnormal amount of days straight and is running on half a tank. When we get through with the formalities we speak briefly about the Oscar nominations for 2021. We then dive straight into reviews. As promised, we have both seen the first 2 episodes of For All Mankind on AppleTV+. We had previously seen the first episode last year and didn't think much of it. What do we think now? We've both seen the AppleTV+ Original Calls and give our thoughts. Due to Dan's busy schedule this is all he was able to watch so Steve closes it out with reviews of The One (Now on Netflix), and Corporate Animals (Now streaming on HULU). That sums up the show for this week. We hope between this and the bonus episode you won't get sick of us. Space it out. We'll be back next week with another episode. Also, the video version of this episode should hit YouTube in the next day or 2 so look out for that.
T Lo talk about their post-vaccination musings; what they've learned, what's changed, and what they're looking forward to when lockdown ends for good. Plus, the pitfalls of going viral: why Chrissy Teigen's twitter exit, Cinnamon Toast Shrimp Guy and Milkshake Duck represent a shift in social media literacy.
THURSDAY 3/25/21: More details emerge of the woman found to be living in a storm drain for almost three weeks. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch guy gets Milkshake Duck'd. An update reveals all adult Floridians are even closer to being eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

There’s this old internet fable about a duck who liked milkshakes. Everyone loved the Milkshake Duck, until it turned out to be racist. The moral of the story is that everything online either turns to caca, or we learn it always was. The latest example, we submit, is the so-called Food Media — or at least its most prominent avatar, Bon Appetit. Adam Rapoport resigned last Monday after weeks of furious attention to systemic racial inequality nation-wide, and after a month of similar scrutiny within food media, beginning last month with the tumble of viral-recipe-author Alison Roman. It was around then that technology and culture writer Navneet Alang wrote an essay for Eater titled “Stewed Awakening: Alison Roman, Bon Appetit, and the Global Pantry Problem.” In this podcast extra, Brooke and Navneet discuss the faulty editorial decisions and disastrous, un-inspected assumptions that led to food media's recent failings.

THIS WEEK... JP and Father Chuck discuss the phenomenon of parasocial relationships, and how potent they have become since the advent of the internet personality. Father Chuck tries extremely hard, with much difficulty, to identify with those who find themselves in a parasocial relationship, while JP fully admits that, yeah, he's totally in more than a few. We also learn the tragic tale of the Parasocial Penguin, Grape-kun, and a brief rundown on our fascination with the Milkshake Duck (the duck is racist, sorry). If you'd like to pursue a parasocial relationship with The Masters of Divinity, listening to all of our episodes and becoming a patron on our Patreon is a great place to start! https://www.patreon.com/MastersOfDivinity If you're interested in a much deeper dive into Parasocial Relationships, check out the documentary "Fake Friends" by Shannon Strucci of StrucciMovies on YouTube. https://youtu.be/KLA-uFKjQ-g

Technology doesn’t substitute, it compliments. If you're a dinosaur that was pumping $ into the Yellow Pages and saying social media doesn’t work - you need to watch this! Or, if you're broke but famous on Insta and Facebook, it's like being rich in Monopoly - learn how to convert it into $. And don't be a Milkshake Duck. Here are the most effective social media + video strategies to get your business on STEROIDS in 2018. I have built a business/brand online using these tested hacks.
The New York Times claims that Donald Trump drinks ‘a dozen’ Diet Cokes a day. At 42mg of caffeine per 330ml, what impact, if any, could this have on the President’s health? Jordan Dunbar speaks to experts about the effect caffeine has on your brain and talks to a high profile self-confessed Diet Coke addict in the UK. "Milkshake Duck" is internet slang for an ordinary person who is briefly cheered, but then swiftly turned upon. We explain why an 11 year old boy and his family are the latest victims of this phenomenon. Also, a BBC Brazil investigation has revealed that an army of so-called social media cyborgs tried to influence the country’s presidential election. Why have so many women in so many different cultures and eras been denounced as witches? BBC Africa’s Sammy Awami visits a village in his home country of Tanzania where, just four months ago, five women were murdered after being accused of witchcraft. Sammy meets a witch doctor who believes he has met a witch and talks to a local politician who is trying to stop the killings. Mark Di Stefano is the outgoing political editor at BuzzFeed Australia. This is a frank chat where we both air our grievances about the shitty state of Australian politics, media and debate at the moment. From the cosy relationship between the press and the political class, the plethora of pundits who never get their comeuppance for being wrong to the good ol' fashioned outrage industry.
