Magazine] and educator who created one of the first liberal arts-based entrepreneurship programs in America. We talk about his first job working under legendary editor Clay Felker in the early days of New York magazine, how a third-grade book report set him up for a life in publishing, the near-fatal car accident that changed everything, why we should look to TV for the future of magazines, and how to build an economically-sustainable life around doing the work that you love. In this episode of our Cross-Border Catch-Up podcast series, Diana Nehro (shareholder, New York/Boston) and Carlos G. Colόn-Machargo (of counsel, Atlanta) discuss common employment practices that may trigger “permanent establishment” tax obligations abroad. Carlos and Diana, who is chair of the firm's Cross-Border Practice Group, provide an overview of issues to consider when engaging workers (including contractors) abroad, or when allowing employees to work remotely abroad. The speakers review length of stay limits as well as provide examples of situations that may lead to tax obligations, including creation of intellectual property.
In this podcast recorded at Ogletree Deakins' national Workplace Strategies seminar, Director of Career Development Marcia Stokes, Ph.D., and Board Member Diana Nehro discuss how “behavioral styles” can impact trust and communication in addition to how employees and managers can leverage their styles and those of their team to minimize conflict and misunderstanding. As the creator of the Building Team Effectiveness DISC workshop—a behavioral assessment tool that is used to understand how our observable behaviors are being perceived by others, Marcia explains how DISC can be used to help teams communicate more effectively by intentionally tapping into the strengths of team members' communication styles. Diana (shareholder, New York/Boston) also explains how she has put these tools into practice as chair of the firm's Cross-Border Practice Group.

On this episode of Le Run Down I with run coach, marathon runner and community leader, Matt Luke Meyer. Matt only found running later in life. He moved to New York City to pursue an acting career and was working as a bartender to make a living, which led him down an unhealthy path. He didn’t like who he had become and decided he needed to make a change. That change was in fact life changing. Running was only a small part of the at the time but five years later, running is all Matt knows. He’s wrapped himself in the new york city run community and pushed his limits further that he ever thought possible. He’s got even bigger dreams on the horizon and if this trend continues, his potential is endless. After 4 years of being Twitter best friends, Ohio State legend and basketball great Scoonie Penn calls into the show. Scoonie and I talk about how we got connected on twitter, who slid into whose dm’s and about his new position at THE Ohio State (Director of Player Development). We taped this show a few days before Selection Sunday so we talked about the Ohio State mentality after losing in the Big 10 tourney here at Madison Square Garden and how the coaching staff prepares for the first two rounds of the big dance. We take a trip down memory lane and hear why Scoonie, after being the Big East Freshman of the Year, decided to leave Boston College and head to Ohio State. We of course talk about that memorable run to the Final Four with Michael Redd. His post collegiate career had him Scoonie dominating all over Europe and he tells us the best and worst part of living abroad. Scoonie might have the best answer of the coolest person in his phone and then we talk some trash about the New York/Boston rivalry and make a bet on the 2018 MLB season with the Yankees and the Red Sox.
