[Original air date: 06/28/2024] This week, the boys are joined by Anthony - better known as Video Game Esoterica on YouTube - to talk about arcade games of the rarest and most obscure. There's lots of hidden gems buried here, and by god we dig 'em up! Get ready to look under those tarps, marathon Godzilla while making deals, and smell that chlorine.
More games are outrageously delisted by Warner Brothers this week, as gaming preservationists everywhere get more frustrated by these sudden delistings of old games. What can we do as gamers to get these habits to change? We discuss ideas and much more news. It might have been a holiday week, but that doesn't stop the video game discussion happening on another week of the longest running video game podcast, Orange Lounge Radio! This week, Steve and Izzy from Everything I Learned from Movies are on the show to talk about the 1986 cult classic Cobra. Travis had never seen it before. Sylvester Stallone is Marion "Cobra" Cobretti, a LA cop who plays by his own rules. He's trying to stop the Night Slasher, and save a model in the process. Car chases, shootouts, one liners, and the most unhinged way of cutting a pizza you'll ever see are all in this one. But does it deserve the cult classic status? Is it 80s cheese in a good way? Let's find out...Thanks go out to Audie Norman (@TheAudieNorman) for the album art. Stallone has waves. Big highs and big lows. But it's his mid movies that are the treats. In this movie it's the Night Slasher vs. Cobra in a all out war in the streets. We talk cops who are loose cannons, Brigette, Mid Stallone and the great Brian Thompson.
What's up, dudes? Tim Williams from the 80's Flick Flashback and Joe Wade from Christmas Creeps join me to track down the Christmas in this Sylvester Stallone action movie from 1986!Marion Cobretti is the lead cop on the Zombie Squad, known for his steely demeanor and lethal efficiency. After thwarting a hostage situation in the Christmas aisle of a supermarket, he suspects the Night Slasher killer is more than he seems. His theory is confirmed when Ingrid Knudsen witnesses a killing spree by several members of this social Darwinian organization. Now trying to protect her, Cobra moves her to a safe house to evade the killers. Unfortunately, a mole in the police force tips off the Night Slasher gang and a battle ensues! The mole and the gang leader are dispatched in spectacular fashion, and the day is saved!Sunglasses? Check. Mid-movie photo shoot? Uh huh. Eating pizza with scissors?! Only Stallone could pull that off! So grab your gun, watch an entire Toys ‘R Us commercial, and never take off your sunglasses with this episode all about Cobra!80's Flick FlashbackFB: @80's Flick Flashback podcastTwitter: @80_podcastIG: @80sflickflashbackChristmas CreepsFB: @christmascreepsTwitter: @ChristmasCreepsIG: @christmascreepsCheck us out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Totally Rad Christmas Mall & Arcade, Teepublic.com, or TotallyRadChristmas.com! Brian Thompson played the villainous Night Slasher in the 1986 film Cobra. His first named role was on Werewolf, a horror series that ran during Fox's inaugural broadcasting year of 1987–1988. Thompson has played several characters in the Star Trek franchise—the most notable being the Klingon Lieutenant Klag in which he informed Riker that “Gagh is always best when served live”, the Alien Bounty Hunter on The X-Files and Eddie Fiori on Kindred: The Embraced. In 2014, he produced, wrote and starred in the B-movie parody The Extendables.
This week we review another Cannon Films classic. Join us for bad Stallone impressions. Brian Thompson is just perfect for this role as the Night Slasher. Why is Cobra such a jerk to this Grandma character? Gonzalez has piss poor eating habits. What is with this Night Slasher cheer routine? How much ketchup is too much ketchup? Stallone looks tiny in this film. This opening supermarket scene is great. "Drop it" BANG!!!Follow us on Twitter @CinemaPoisonContact us at cinemapoisonpodcast@gmail.com

Brian Thompson's acting career began starring alongside some of the biggest names in Hollywood. He played a punk who had his heart ripped out by Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1984's The Terminator, and later starred as Night Slasher in Stallone's 1986 film Cobra. Landing a number of television roles in between, Brian would later portray Shao Kahn in 1997's Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and most recently appeared in 2021's The Tradegy of Macbeth alongside Denzel Washington. — FOLLOW BRIAN THOMPSON — Website: https://www.brianthompson.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/BrianEThompson Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brian.thompson.50702769 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brianearlthompson

Before we even hit the minute mark, we had a Christian Slater impression ( he was super famous in the 80s and now he is Mr. Robot ), a few Pee-Wee Herman jokes, and some hilarious banter with seedy content.TONIGHT’S MOVIE IS COBRA. An ultra cop or Dirty Harry on steroids nicknamed COBRA because his last name is something like COBRETTI … if you will… has to protect a witness from ax-wielding cult members. The leader is called The Night Slasher, which references The Night Stalker.Stallone was originally slated to make Beverly Hills Cop but saw it as a gritty movie rather than a comedy. When he left he took the ideas for that movie and put them into Cobra. The movie had to be heavily cut to avoid an X Rating. Most of this was for violence and extended shots of naked dead bodies at an autopsy. A bootleg with an extra 40min has been floating around for years. The 1950 Mercury was actually Stallone’s and replicas had to be made for action scenes.Initially considered a flop, it actually made $160 million worldwide against a $25 million budget. But when compared to the massive success of Rambo Part 2 and Rocky IV it was deemed a failure.Second movie George P Cosmatos and Stallone worked on together after Rambo Part 2.HOME VIDEO HEADLINES:Upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre 9 Confirmed To Be A Direct Sequel To The Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre With Old Man Leatherface.Yaphet Kotto Dies at 81, famous for his performances in Alien, Live and Let Die, and Homocide: Life on the Streets.Birdgirl Adult Swim cartoon spinoff from Harvey Birdman Attorney At Law with Paget Brewster.Tonight we are sponsored by REEL PAPER and STEREO.Reel Paper is made of 100% bamboo, making it the most sustainable, eco-friendly toilet paper on the market. NuMainstream Talks host @ParisAmorOfficial caught up with JayReezy an R&B singer-songwriter out of Philadelphia about his album "Very Emotional" which he says has a classic R&B vibe. *here's a summary of what was discussed, press play for full interview Please tell us how many years have you been making music? How do you describe your sound? I bring back that emotion and passion! That when you sit there it's gonna touch your soul. I'm really stripping myself down the good, bad, and things I was successful at. I just do what I love from the heart and what my supporters like that true RnB. I've been doing music for prob about 20+ years. Started first with artistry and got a deal with RCA but after that didn't work out I had to pick up the pen and start song writing. I actually had a project in 2013 I moved to Atlanta to persue songwriting. Tell us who are your music influences? Also any local city influences? As far as influences my main influence is Michael Jackson. Artisty and songwriting I gotta say Babyface. I've worked with people like TLC, Boys II Men. As far as influences my main influence is Michael Jackson. As far as artistry and songwriting I gotta say Babyface, LA Reid, and Bryan Michael Scott. How has your perspective changed when it comes to maintaining being indie, or is your goal to get signed one day!? I don't mind the independent thing as long as you have the right team behind you. I look at as do you want to be rich or famous. Do you want notoriety. A lot of artist make quick money and the labels flip the artist. I look up to Babyface and Teddy Riley how we can vibe to them on Versus from songs 15 years ago. I would just like to be able to take care of my family for real. I have actually done the signed thing and had songwriters and labels tell me what they were going to do and it fall through and I've been in independent situations where we have more control and I like that better. How are you dealing with this Corona Virus epidemic right now? Directly connected to me I know one person. One person that caught it twice. They work in Philadelphia Housing Authority and some one in there had it. Any new projects/videos you are working on!? I have a film company with my bro DStheWriter and we just released a film "Night Slasher" and we have music in that too. I have a team and we are all working on ventures and trying to get it together. Follow this artist! @RnBisme

Michaela goes for a ride along with the cure for crime himself: Cobra (1986)! When the mysterious Night Slasher begins terrorizing Los Angeles, the only man who can get things done is an officer from the L.A.P.D.'s "Zombie Squad", Marion "Cobra" Cobretti (Sylvester Stallone). Here, he's charged with protecting the only witness (Stallone's wife-at-the-time, Danish model Brigitte Nielsen) who can identify the killer. Listen as we try to quote (or sing, in Sean's case) every single one of Stallone's one-liners; come to learn how Cobra's origins tie in to Beverly Hills Cop; and debate the civility of cutting a slice of pizza with a pair of scissors; all this and more on this week's exciting episode! http://searchforschlock.com/media/podcasts/sfs-061-Cobra.mp3 Download MP3 Cobra is the story of Los Angeles police officer Marion Cobretti and his one-man, several-automatic-weapon war on a cult of murderers led by the Night Slasher (played by that guy from X-Files with the face). So you can see why we knew we'd love it. American auteur Sylvester Stallone wrote and starred, but inexplicably did not direct; SFS favorites Golan and Globus produced, god bless 'em. This is the kind of movie that played right to every Reagan voter's base assumptions about rampant crime and the appropriately deadly response necessary -- we're talking almost Death Wish 3 levels of anarchy and vigilantism. (I may have mentioned that we love Golan-Globus.) Much of Cobra came from Stallone's idea of what Beverly Hills Cop should have been like, so maybe he's not as smart as we think he is.
