Sometimes you got to go back to the original formula and make it a Ricardo and Vero show, and that is exactly what we did this week. We catch you up on what we've been up to this past weekend, ranging from mental health to the past that one's hometown can bring. We also brought in some Mexican treats to snack on as we talk about how you never really see them when trick or treating around spooky season, and Vero discovering that tamarindo is not just candy. We also continue to send your mind into a never-ending spiral with another segment of Conspiracy Corner. Lastly, you know it, you love it, it's the one and only media update that matters… Good Looking Out!!! Love the podcast? Like, share, and write a review on iTunes! It means the world. The Emmy Award-winning MASTER OF NONE returns with a new season that chronicles the relationship of Denise (Emmy Award winner Lena Waithe) and her partner Alicia (BAFTA winner Naomi Ackie). Directed by series co-creator and Emmy winner Aziz Ansari, and scripted by Ansari and Waithe, this new season is a modern love story that intimately illustrates the ups and downs of marriage, struggles with fertility, and personal growth both together and apart. Fleeting romantic highs meet crushing personal losses while existential questions of love and living are raised. Co-created by Ansari and Emmy Award winner Alan Yang, Season 3 delivers an evolution of the series that remains tethered to previous seasons while breaking new storytelling ground of its own.FOLLOW USFollow Daniel on Twitter, Instagram, and LetterboxdFollow Shahbaz on Twitter, Instagram, and LetterboxdFollow Anthony on Twitter, Instagram, and LetterboxdFollow The Movie Podcast on Letterboxd, Twitter, Instagram, Discord, and YouTubeANNOUNCEMENTSREVIEWS: Those Who Wish Me Dead, Wrath of Man, Without Remorse, Mortal Kombat, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Recaps, Mythic Quest: Everlight, Love and Monsters, Shiva Baby, The Unholy, Godzilla vs Kong, and more are available now on The Movie Podcast feed!WATCH: DANIEL ON CINEMASEEN < TAP TO WATCHTHIS WEEK: Army of The Dead, Spiral: From The Book of SAW (Maybe), The Movie Podcast is on a mission to hit 200 Apple Podcast reviews before September, click here to head over to our show page on APPLE PODCASTS and leave us a 5 STAR review! As the people of Palestine continue to be subjected to violence and tragedy, it is now more important than ever that we continue to stay informed and help where possible. It’s time for the Women Tell All and we are joined by our amazing friends Liv and Bix, of ITM with Liv and Bix! But, before we can get into any of that, we spend some time addressing the most recent Bachelor Nation controversy, the past tweets of Taylor Nolan. These tweets are incredibly hurtful, disgusting, and harmful to almost every marginalized community that you can think of. We do not read any of the tweets, as many contain slurs and violent language, but we do discuss recent events surrounding them. CONTENT WARNING for this discussion. At the Women Tell All, it’s very much a rehash of the same drama we’ve been talking about all season. We don't even see Victoria get grilled in the hot seat. We also see deleted footage of several group dates and, of course, bloopers! There is a lot of screen time for the man who should be fired, and just a sweet reminder, #FIRECHRISHARRISON. Our POC highlight of the week goes to Khalyah Epps! She is the 28 year old healthcare advocate, from Durham, North Carolina. We loved to see Khaylah back on our screen, as she had dropped some words of wisdom that the ladies and Bachelor Nation needed to hear! Will she be heading to the sandy BIP beach? The show ventures into the life of a millenial who's dealing with first dates, pasta-making, broken condoms, stereotypes, gender issues, and heartbreak. Join Turg and Randy Z as they explore another topic featured in the Netflix Original Series "Master of None" as they go back to Season One Episode Two and talk about the one thing that most 30-somethings can't seem to wrap their heads around - parenting - and... Why is the idea of kids so scary? Randy talks about his trip to San Diego and why it was so significant for him. This sets the stage for what comes about as a random conversation into parenting and Turg and Randy get to talking about kids. That’s where Randy’s true, deep-rooted fears surface; Randy doesn’t think he can face the fact of whether he can hack it as a parent. In Master of None Season 1 Episode 2 there is a strong underlying theme of trying to figure out the next step to take in one’s 30s. The biggest dilemma is always around starting a family and having kids. Does this need to be a thing? Turg relates to this episode as he talks through the early years (still on-going) of parenting and how he struggled to come to terms with his new role in life. A lot of what is shown in this episode of Master of None can be mirrored in thought by millions of people out there – so why is this concept still so foreign? Turg argues that it is because you won’t know it until you’ve lived it. Turg also thinks that it changes the way people perceive their own self and self-worth, but cautions it really has a lot to do with preconceptions and pre-existing disposition. As a parent, you are the wind and the child is the sailboat Randy’s concern with parenting branches off into many derivative thoughts about his ability to parent. He feels that finding the balance between guidance and force is a fine line to walk without potentially misdirecting one’s children. How do you influence your child? What’s your style? Turg says that the decision is ultimately the children who control the outcome of their lives based on the experiences they have and use the guidance as a measuring stick for life. The bachelor’s mentality is strong with this one Randy knows having kids will change everything, but does he want to give it all up? Turg thinks so. Being selfish is not a negative thing – sometimes we need that time to decompress. Randy thinks sacrifice is an inherent part of becoming a parent, but Turg disagrees. You can have more if you work smarter, earn harder, just buckle down and do more. Turg says just change that shit. You can do it, you’re in control. Where are you at in life? How have kids either played a role in your life now or how do you think they would impact you in your 30s? And if you haven’t watched Master of None, check it out on Netflix.
