Chris Chavez, Aisha Praught-Leer, Eric Jenkins and Anderson Emerole unpack all the action from Day 2 of Grand Slam Track: Kingston.Kenny Bednarek — Mr. 2x Olympic Medal, now Mr. Slam Champion — swept the short sprints and made it look easy. 100m? Win. 200m? Win. $100k? Yes please. Not bad for a weekend in Jamaica.Gabby Thomas? She didn't just win. She leveled up. A massive 400m PR (49.14!) — behind only a world-leading time from Salwa Eid Naser — locked down the Women's Long Sprints crown. Two races. One trophy. Another six-figure payday. But it wasn't just the Americans cleaning up. Matthew Hudson-Smith of Great Britain edged out the 400m crew to win the Men's Long Sprints Slam. Diribe Welteji outkicked Nikki Hiltz to take the Women's Short Distance title in a spicy 1500m. And oh yeah — there was that absolutely loaded men's 1500 field where 800m Olympic champ Emmanuel Wanyonyi stepped up in distance and beat the entire Paris medal stand.Tonight was the night that we believe fans started to rock with the brand-new league format. Fast, fresh, and fun. It's a modern take on track with real stakes — and real checks — on the line. And it's only Day 2.Let's talk about the money. The medals. The matchups. And why this might be the shake-up the sport's been waiting for.

Welcome to episode 206 with Karsta Lowe, who is an Olympian and professional volley ball player who was a member of the United States women's national team that won bronze medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Karsta has played volley ball, at the highest level, all over the world, winning multiple titles and medals along the way. But throughout her career she was also struggling with anxiety, depression and OCD which would later lead to an eating disorder and suicidal thoughts. In this episode I chat to Karsta about how both her mental struggles and international career progressed and intertwined. We chat about her childhood experiences with mental health issues and about how these were complicated further by the loss of her father at a young age. We also chat about going to the Olympics and the struggles she faced off the court, how all of this led to Karsta getting help and what that help looked like for her. And we chat about life after professional sport, the different types of grief, learning to be gentle and how life changes when you accept radical compassion. The idea of a lifelong athlete being at the Olympic Games, on the way to winning a medal, but also completely falling apart at the same time, just goes to show that you never know what someone might be going through, despite how strong they look on the outside. A special bonus episode for an interview that blew us away. Cindy Ngamba was the first refugee to win an Olympic medal and is about to make her professional boxing debut on the undercard of the Natasha Jonas v Lauren Price fight.Cindy joined Gabby and Mark to share her incredible story of arriving in Bolton from Cameroon aged 11 with no mother to tell her about deodorant and periods, to the trauma of a shock arrest, and the heartbreak of having her UK citizenship application repeatedly rejected, even though she can't return to Cameroon because she's openly gay. You'll feel her energy when she describes the moment she discovered boxing, going through almost three years of fitness drills before she was allowed to spar. That journey took her all the way to the Paris Olympics, where she couldn't compete with Team GB despite training with them. With an Olympic bronze medal now in her cabinet, she tells us about what it's been like turning pro and being on the historic all-female card at the Royal Albert Hall for her professional debut.Executive Producer: Adonis PratsidesProducer: Sophie PenneyVideo Producers: Sam TrudgillSocial Media Editor: Calum ScotlandTom Hughes is Editor for The News Agents podcast networkVicky Etchells is the Commissioning Editor for GlobalYou can listen to this episode on Alexa - just say "Alexa, ask Global Player to play The Sports Agents".The Sports Agents have merch! In 2024, Chloe Dygert earned her second Olympic gold medal on the boards in Paris - as a key part of the US team pursuit squad. World Record vs Olympic Gold. A debate that has gone on forever between athletes and fans on which is more valuable. In a recent poll, between 100m legends Donovan Bailey, Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell, the majority of people selected Asafa Powell as the the person who has a greater 100m career, while Donovan Bailey was selected the least. This was interesting considering Powell, though had set the world record, had never won an Olympic medal. While on the flipside, Bailey had both set the World Record and won Olympic Gold. So which is more valuable, a World Record or Olympic Medal? -------------------------------- Host: Anderson Emerole | @emeroleanderson on Twitter SUPPORT THE PODCAST
