Robert Pardi is the founder of Possibility in Action™, "a powerful personal growth philosophy that can help unlock a world of limitless possibilities and potential." Robert embodies the tenets of Untether Your Life: after his young wife passed away of metastatic breast cancer, Robert re-imagined his life and left his comfort zone to achieve new dreams. He now shares the many life lessons he's learned through his work and fashioned his life as an example of Possibility in Action™. Prior to his dramatic life change, the New York City native had spent several years in the Middle East, as Senior Portfolio Manager in Abu Dhabi, and Co-Founder of the Dubai-based Private Equity firm Evolvence Capital. He now spends the majority of his time in Abruzzo, Italy. Outside of traditional coaching, Robert hosts personal growth retreats and workshops in Italy, creates micro video mindset modules and hosts the Possibility in Action podcast. In this week's episode host Nikhil Torsekar and Robert touch on many topics, including: The origin of Possibility in Action, and how this platform can liberate us from the "land of regret." Robert's circuitous journey from an abusive upbringing in The Bronx, to a promising career in private equity and idyllic married life in Abu Dhabi and Dubai (cut far too short when his wife Desiree passed from cancer at 41), to his current vocation in Abruzzo, Italy How taking care of Desiree informed his decision to become a life coach and write three best-selling books What the imperfections in the pieces of ancient mosaics and Michelangelo's David can teach us about self actualization How daydreaming - an activity that we're dissuaded from as children - can serve as a powerful catalyst to help us realize a major life shift. What do you do when adversity strikes? Do you see obstacles that can't be overcome or do you see opportunity and the possibility to transform yourself? In this episode of Your History Your Story our guest is Robert Pardi. Robert is a transformational life coach, speaker and author of “Possibility in Action - A Journey to an Intentional Life”. Robert grew up with an alcoholic father and was forced at a young age to develop coping techniques in order to deal with his difficult home life. In college, Robert met Desiree, his future wife. They got married and looked forward to an exciting life together. Little did they know that just prior to Desiree's thirty first birthday, while she was studying to become a doctor, she would be diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Robert walked hand in hand with her throughout her journey and their love for each other continued to grow. They had an action plan that compelled them to make the most out of every day they had together. Sadly, despite her strong will to live and immeasurable courage, Desiree lost her battle with cancer and Robert was devastated. Trying to find his way again, he leaned into some of the coping skills he developed as a child and the experiences he had during his wife's illness to transform his life. He eventually moved from New York to Italy where he has become an amazing life coach, using his passion and compassion to help others live their best life. Robert has a special way of connecting with those he encounters. Robert's journey started with an extremely difficult relationship with his alcoholic father. Feeling trapped as a child, he continuously fantasized, by drawing the doodle that is now his logo, representing an alternative universe he longed to escape to Yet, this dysfunctional relationship thankfully provided him with invaluable life skills including; resilience, determination, imagination, flexibility, and insightfulness. In fact, they all eventually merged into his life philosophy of today called Possibility in Action – taking desire for positive transformation and putting it into action through self-awareness and making conscious choices. Shortly after, his wife Desiree, was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. Unfortunately, she passed 11 years later. In 2014, throwing caution to the wind, Robert leaped from his comfort zone. He changed careers and moved to the same Italian village his great grandfather immigrated from over 100 years ago. He is now a certified life coach, adjunct professor, international guest speaker, and the author of Chasing Life - The remarkable true story of love, joy, and achievement against all odds.In this episode we discuss: 1) Robert shares his thoughts on our imperfections and how it relates to a mosaic or a kaleidoscope and how our imperfections add character and depth to our character. 2) The meaning we give to words like loss, grief, joy, and how our perspective can shift the meaning of all of it. 3) Robert dives into the expectations, how we continue to push through and not listen to or address what our body is dealing with. His body forced him to slow down, stop, be hospitalized, and actually grieve the loss of what he thought his life was supposed to look like. 4) The role of caregiving and how it is a challenging role, not one we are trained for, and the purpose is to support someone with living the remainder of their life. Caregiving is not fixing their health, it is supporting the family member through this time. A loss of a loved one is never easy as well as the journey after the loss. Neena is joined today by Robert Pardi, who, after his wife died, redesigned his life and reconnected to his true self and heartfelt desires. In this episode, Robert shares a lovely, albeit sad story about a fantastic person who scarred his life most beautifully. Journey with Robert as he walks down memory lane while dropping golden nuggets along the way. Robert is one of those rare individuals who embrace change and lives by a philosophy he calls “possibility in action” – taking his desire for transformation and putting it into action daily. He received his MBA from Columbia University and was quickly recruited by one of the world's largest sovereign wealth funds, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) in 1997. Shortly after accepting the position, he and his wife were confronted with an extreme life event that shook the very foundation of all their hopes and dreams. Desiree, his wife, while pursuing an MD/Ph.D., was diagnosed with Stage 3B breast cancer right before her 31st birthday. Despite their trials, both Robert and Desiree thrived. Unfortunately, in 2009, after an 11-year valiant battle, Desiree succumbed to metastatic breast cancer. In 2014, Robert decided to leave his comfort zone to pursue what he deemed a more purposeful path. Throwing caution to the wind, he pursued a childhood dream to live in Italy and a passion born while caring for his wife, to become a Life Coach. He now lives in the same Italian village his great grandfather immigrated from over 100 years ago and is a certified life coach. In this episode, Sue and Marsha talk about the reels and how Reels are blowing up Instagram and how it is forcing us to speak clearly on our business in 15-30 second increments or less. They also discussed the concepts of resilience, perspective, personal energy and how the work is truly never done. In this episode we discuss: 1) Sue's dirt pile reel that was 300K views in early July and now is crossing the 3.5 million views in only a few weeks. The unpredictability of reels is crazy, and so important to use for your business. 2) The mindset, and perspective piece of how some entrepreneurs can look at this time in our society, who have been hit hard by the pandemic and how they're still showing up strong and resilient. Marsha shared the definition of resiliency from Robert Pardi, “Resilience is where our purpose, personal power and perspective connect”, and truthfully these pieces affect how we respond to everything in our lives. 3) The energy that we are responsible for bringing into our lives and how it is up to us to take responsibility for our own energy. We are also able to choose who we surround ourselves with and how their energy literally can positively or negatively affect us all day long.Join the Every Body Holds a Story Facebook Group to be the first to hear about the launch details. A true and moving story that will first bring tears to your eyes then joy to your heart while filling your knapsack with invaluable life lessons on impermanence, perspective, personal power, and turning your possibility into action. Robert Pardi shouldn't be grateful, but he is. Robert grew up with a father who physically abused him. Years later, Desiree, the love of his life, passed away after battling breast cancer for eleven years. At that point, Robert lost all concepts of purpose, direction, and a reason to live. He even contemplated suicide. Then one day, Robert decided he couldn't change what happened, so he chose to focus on what could happen. Robert realized that these horrific experiences also offered him life skills in resilience, determination, imagination, flexibility, and insightfulness that he could share with others.
