How do you talk to your clients about construction updates, delays, and variations? Some of you prefer the old-school way of doing in-person meetings with a printed document in hand. Today on the show I have Ron Nussbaum. Ron is the founder of BuilderComs which is a communication platform that is set to disrupt one of the biggest industries in the United States - the construction industry. We will talk about in this episode some of the biggest problems with communication. Sometimes up to a third of the money and time invested in a construction project can be wasted due to poor communication. This is a massive problem and a massive opportunity and we are going to talk about Ron's personal philosophy that has led him to this moment, how he sees himself in this big opportunity, and what purpose he serves moving forward. This is a great episode to explore what high-level leadership looks like and what is necessary to make big changes in the world. In This Episode: It is not just the long-term vision. It is also the short term and what can happen. You just got to make it happen 90 days at a time. You always have to be willing to change your perspective. Every time we summit something there is typically another mountain. Too many people have that one defining moment and they rest their heads on that for the rest of their lives. If you are capable of one defining moment you are capable of a thousand. We need to continue to chase those and not just be fine with that one defining moment. And so much more! I'd like to begin this episode by acknowledging the land that I am learning and living on is the traditional un-ceded, un-surrendered territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg People.Leaders are going to make mistakes. That's a fact. But mistakes are only the beginning, it's what we do with our mistakes is what defines us as leaders. And if you're thinking you've heard this message quite often on this podcast, well, that's because we can never be reminded too much that we will make mistakes. And so, in this episode, you'll hear from Ron Nussbaum, a fellow podcast host and the founder and CEO of Nuttnest, who will talk about making mistakes, and what he did with this knowledge. Discover why clear and direct communication during the sale saves time and money as told by Ron Nussbaum.
“I've been in sales, leadership, and management. I ran a crew and was a laborer on a job site before. Over the last 12 years, I've experienced everything in residential construction. There's a lack of transparency and communication breakdowns we could all avoid if we had the right systems in place and people were on the same page.” - Ron Nussbaum, Co-Founder/CEO of Nuttnest Communication makes life tick. We clear things up, set expectations, misunderstand each other, cause problems, waste time, and make life-changing decisions. Like any other avenue, construction and remodeling rely on clear communication between both parties. The homeowner wants dates, times, and reassurance, while the contractor needs a way to show their vision, schedule work, and provide updates. The current solution is a fragmented mess of social media, phone calls, and text messages that often miss the mark. Nuttnest proposes a hub for effortless communication above everything. Will they deliver? How will it work for your company? Topics discussed in this interview:- Ron's background in construction- Construction's public perception- Taking an active role in redefining communication- Developing a central platform for contractor-customer interaction- Designing an accessible app for all- The story behind the name- Who is Nuttnest for?- How far along is Nuttnest?Learn more about Nuttnest at: https://www.nuttnest.com/Connect with Ron on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ron-nussbaum/For more Construction Disruption, listen on Apple Podcasts or YouTubeConnect with us on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedInThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podtrac - https://analytics.podtrac.com/privacy-policy-gdrpChartable - https://chartable.com/privacy

Do you feel “heard” on the jobsite? In your experience, have efforts at collaboration been effective? Join host Todd and guest Ron Nussbaum as they discuss what communication in the construction industry should look like, the value that clarity brings to an overall ROI, best practices for stakeholders and contractors, and more. Ron Nussbaum is the Founder and CEO of Nuttnest. After serving in the Marine Corps., he went on to add over a decade of experience in the construction industry. He has cemented himself as a visionary and a leader in construction by working in field, sales, leadership, and management. TODD-TAKES When we think about communicating better in construction, we first need to ask ourselves a basic question. What does that even mean? It isn't as easy and straightforward as it seems at first glance. In fact, better communication means something different to everyone. In these situations, taking the time to understand where the other side is aiming for is very helpful. Ron brought up a stunning stat in that 35% of time on a jobsite is related to miscommunication. That is crazy! How much could you do if you got 35% of time back in your day? This is definitely not a minor issue. We need to focus on the customer experience. The better and more simplistic we can make the experience, the more likely we are to have a lifelong customer.
