So the inevitable got confirmed. Leicester City relegated by archetypal journeyman Oli McBurnie. Something quite fitting about that. We reflect on an extraordinary ten year period, wonder about league one, and ask what the heck is going to happen to Seagrave?!
Virtual press conference recorded on April 21 to discuss the upcoming World Cup Downhill season with Loic Bruni, Jackson Goldstone, Luca Shaw, Vali Holl, Gracey Hemstreet and Tahnee Seagrave.
This week I'm joined by Tahnée Seagrave. Tahnée has been one of the defining riders of modern downhill for more than a decade. A World Cup winner, a world championship medallist, and one of the riders who helped push the level of women's racing to where it is today. But the last few seasons haven't been straightforward. Injuries, recovery, rebuilding confidence, changing bike sponsor and trying to perform at the very top of the sport while the level of competition keeps rising. So in this episode we sat down to talk about everything from the realities of rehab and returning to racing, to bike development challenges, the growth of the women's field, the next generation coming through, and what still motivates her after all these years at the top. There's a lot in here, from the physical side of racing to the mental side of staying in the sport long term. So sit back, hit play and check out this episode with Tahnée Seagrave. Double Seagrave action this week as Will can't squeeze a pod in. Plenty to cover with the prem returning and we are on the cusp of our first European block of the season.
Would it even be a World Cup without a natural event playing a major role in the outcome? Loudenvielle, the sixth World Cup of the season, was the third race to be heavily affected by rain on race day. We saw ideal conditions for the Juniors and 98% of the Elite Women's field before Deja vu struck and the skies opened up for fastest qualifier, Tahnée Seagrave. And oh boy, did it get spicy as the rain continued to fall throughout the Elite Men's final. Gnarly conditions always foster spectacular displays of bike handling, and some racers put on a clinic this weekend. We also got to witness Vali and Bruni each wrap up another Elite title, a bunch of young Kiwis filling the podiums in the junior fields, and a ton of feel-good results, like Benoit taking the win after crashing here last year, Reece Wilson landing on the podium after so many setbacks, Aaron Gwin back racing after two years, and Myriam Nicole taking her first win after missing all of last season to a concussion. We chat about all of this, plus get the inside scoop on why our dude Dak was off the pace last weekend, points battles leading into MSA, RockShox Kashima knock-off, Asa Vermette's bike size, mass dampers (obviously), and a bunch of other nonsense. Enjoy!

AMDG. Our Catholic identity puts us in touch with the deepest questions and truths of our existence, particularly the truth that every single human being is formed in the image and likeness of God. Kolbe alumnus and current Arizona State University professor Adam Seagrave, Ph.D—a graduate of Notre Dame and Thomas Aquinas College—joins Bonnie and Steven today to discuss his expertise in race and American history. Dr. Seagrave describes how the struggle to abolish slavery and overcome racism are an important and illuminating key factor in understanding what it means to be an American; how there has been a change from problematic neglect of history to problematic ways of teaching history in recent times; and how a Catholic understanding of the dynamic between fall and redemption provides resources to process past injustices. Also listen for his take on critical race theory, W.E.B. Du Bois' connection with the classics, and advice for hesitant parents. Find out more about Adam and his work with the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism and his Race and the American Story project here. If you follow the high octane, high action, and the highly skilled sport of downhill mountain biking then you will know the name Tahnée Seagrave… if you don't then it doesn't matter, as this is an episode of the podcast you need to hear regardless. Tahnée is a multiple World Cup winner, athlete for Red Bull and Fox Racing, but after a major crash she feared for her future in the sport. Injuries aren't uncommon but Tahnée suffered a serious concussion that has kept her off her bike and thrown up walls to scale that simply weren't there before. Kris speaks to her about the accident, the fallout, and the work to get riding again as well as how to embrace femininity in a male dominated sport and redefining females within it. At the time of her accident Tahnée was being follow by a film crew. What has been produced, was a very very different documentary to the one that it began life as. It's out now so search for it or follow the link via Tahnée's Instagram - www.instagram.com/tahneeseagrave Screengrab or send a post a picture of where you're listening to Glittering A Turd and tag Kris in on Instagram - www.instagram.com/howtoglitteraturd Please don't forget we love hearing your Turds so please do share your story of how you've glittered your turd, send a voice note or WhatsApp to the Turd Hotline >>> +44 (0)776 923 7544

Do you feel overwhelmed by the idea of starting a private practice? Many SLPs and OTs feel that way and it's totally understandable. Starting a whole business can seem like an impossible task when you are already dealing with overflowing caseloads. Rest assured, it can still be done! By taking little steps every day, you will be ready to take on your first private practice clients in no time. In today's episode of Private Practice Success Stories, I sat down with Liz Seagrave Tantareanu to talk about how she did it little by little and now has a successful practice. You'll also learn how she became a Medicare provider and how she deals with things like people pleasing and perfectionism. Liz is the founder of Golden Coast Speech Therapy Services in San Rafael, California, and has been a practicing speech-language pathologist for over 10 years. Liz's clinical interests include neurogenic voice disorders and Parkinson's Disease, care of the professional voice, gender-affirming voice therapy, early intervention for language delays and speech sound disorders, and literacy development. She is trained in LSVT LOUD®, SPEAK OUT!®, PhoRTE voice therapy, and Hanen: It Takes Two to Talk®. Liz received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Science in Medical Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Washington. Her graduate work included research in the Vocal Function Lab at UW, investigating the construct of listener effort and speech intelligibility in individuals following total laryngectomy. She completed a graduate internship at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford and a Clinical Fellowship at the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in West Los Angeles. She has worked across a range of settings and patient populations, including an interdisciplinary pediatric clinic, preschool early intervention classrooms, and acute and outpatient care, before founding Golden Coast Speech Therapy Services in 2020. In Today's Episode, We Discuss: How Liz got started in the profession and decided to start a private practice When Liz decided to make her first hire How becoming a Medicare provider grew her business Why confidence comes from taking action The importance of doing it scared How private practice allows Liz full control of her professional and personal life The benefits of taking small steps to start your own practice It's totally possible to jump into your private practice if that's what you want. Just remember that it's also okay if you just want to dabble and take it slow. As long as you do something to move the needle forward, even if it's just writing what you want down on paper, you're one step closer to making it happen. Liz is the perfect example of taking small steps to help you build big dreams.
