Send us a textLast week we ventured along the East Coast, specifically Florida's famed Space Coast to share the story of a civil rights couple who was killed by the KKK. We went a few miles inland to rewrite our old school programming about ancient civilizations thanks to scientific analysis of soft tissue matter, bones, bottle gourds and fabrics preserved for from 7-9,000 years ago, and this week? Well, the east coast can't have all the spotlight, can it? I'm looking closely at some of the weirdness along California's central coast.Let's get into it!This episode covers the death of James Dean and his cursed Little Bastard, the history and strange UFO/UAP sightings at Vandenberg Space Force Base, the Central Valley, Hearst Castle, a Zodiac killing, La Purisma Mission, and more. What to Read, Watch, or Listen to NEXT! Sister Irenita - A Very Special Halloween Episode, Curious Cat Podcast, BuzzsproutJames Dean's Obituary, LA Times***The TV Witch Accused of Casting the Hex that Killed James Dean, FarOutMagazine.co.ukSite Where James Dean Crashed, CaliforniaThroughMyLens.comUnearthing The Mysteries Of 'Egypt' In The Dunes Of The California CoastNational UFO Reporting OrganizationScientists solve deep-sea ‘Octopus Garden' mystery off California coastTen Commandments' Relics, Old Hollywood, Being Excavated from California Sand Dunes, LA TimesSecrets of Hearst Castle, CNNI don't accept sponsors and paid advertisers. SpaceX's Game-Changing ISS Test: SpaceX has successfully completed a crucial reboost test of the International Space Station (ISS) using its Dragon cargo spacecraft. This test, which raised the ISS's altitude by 5 miles, is vital for maintaining the station's orbit, especially with concerns over Russia's potential withdrawal from the ISS programme by 2028. The precision of this manoeuvre highlights SpaceX's growing capabilities in supporting the ISS's future.James Webb's Distant Galaxy Discovery: NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has identified what could be the most distant galaxy observed, Jades GS Z13.0, formed just 325 million years after the Big Bang. This finding challenges existing models of early cosmic evolution, suggesting that galaxy formation occurred much faster than previously thought.Solar Eclipse Predictions Under Scrutiny: Recent research reveals that the paths of solar eclipses may not be as precise as once believed, with potential discrepancies of hundreds of metres due to the sun's angular size. New eclipse maps are being created to account for these uncertainties, particularly for the upcoming eclipse on August 12, 2026.Perseverance Rover's Groundbreaking Find: NASA's Perseverance rover has detected convincing evidence of ancient microbial life in a rock sample from Jezero Crater. This discovery, if confirmed, could fundamentally change our understanding of life beyond Earth.Juno Mission Uncovers Callisto's Auroras: NASA's Juno mission has detected auroral footprints from Callisto, Jupiter's fourth Galilean moon, confirming that all four moons interact with Jupiter's magnetosphere. This finding suggests Callisto may have a more complex interior than previously thought.SpaceX's Ambitious Starship Infrastructure: SpaceX is rapidly developing its Starship launch infrastructure at Kennedy Space Centre, with plans for dual launch towers capable of supporting up to 76 annual launches. This expansion could significantly transform Florida's Space Coast and the global launch industry. For more cosmic updates, visit our website at astronomydaily.io. Ryan Embree: Welcome to Suite Spot, where hoteliers check in and we check out what's trending in hotel marketing. I'm your host, Ryan Embree. Hello everyone. Welcome to another episode of The Suite Spot, in another edition of our Suite Spot Road Trip. We are just right down the road. If you could see the view that I'm looking at right now, the cruise ships coming in the ocean right here behind us. We are here on the Space Coast. We wanna welcome in Jennifer Odom, Dual Sales Manager at the Hyatt Place, Cape Canaveral. Thank you so much for hosting us at your brand new beautiful property, Jennifer. Jennifer Odom: Yes, thank you. No, it's a pleasure to have you here. We appreciate the opportunity and are just thrilled to share with everyone just what a fabulous property we do have here on the Space Coast in Cape Canaveral. Ryan Embree: It's incredible. We're gonna talk all about it, but before that, We were, we wanted to learn a little bit about you. Share with our Suite Spot audience your hospitality background and the journey that led you to opening this brand new Hyatt Place. Jennifer Odom: Absolutely love to. So I've actually been here in this area alone for 25 years. I was the typical story of the grandparents were the snowbirds that moved from Indiana and we followed. I came down one year and was like, why am I gonna go back to Indiana when I have all this with the beach and you know, the launches of the shuttles and so forth. And so that's what drew me here. I ended up moving and as a young teenager, I had actually worked in a gift shop that was kind of connected between a hotel and a restaurant. And the front desk people would always come over and we would chat while they're getting snacks and stuff, and they're like, oh my gosh, John Glynn was just on our lobby, the famous astronaut, Buzz Aldrin's here. And I'm like, how old do I have to be to come over and work at the desk? And so as soon as I turned 18, that's where you would find me. So I started off my career at the front desk, was at that limited service property and then found out I had a real passion for it and ended up at a full service property right in Cocoa Beach, just six miles from us here. A different, a brand that I was with for about 20 years. So just got to experience everything from, you know, working, starting off front desk to a catering admin, to a group coordinator, to catering sales manager. I mean, I've worn all the hats, all of it. All the way up to a DOS. So, and then super excited, I'd taken a little break and what was phenomenal is I'd seen the article about the hotel here and at the time there was so many different properties that were being built around the area and just because of all the different markets and the growth. And what I actually found was that article and I was like, oh, I forgot, like that's right, like this property. Like I've gotta go check it out. And so I came over and I did a tour right when they had the soft opening in February. And as soon as I went up to our rooftop bar, I was like, oh, wow, I could sell this like this, this is my property. So then that is how I came to the Hyatt Place here in Cape Canaveral. Ryan Embree: It's so cool that, you know, I think hospitality is one of those industries where it's because we're all travelers, right? We all traveled as young children, maybe with our parents, and then we get to transition into, you know, maybe working the front desk in those entry level jobs. And then here you are and you've got a great career and yo...

Captain Blair Wiggins — known to many as the Mogan Man from Addictive Fishing — has spent decades shaping saltwater fishing on Florida's Space Coast. In this conversation, Blair and I go deep on fishing history, the birth of Addictive Fishing, the boom and bust of the clam fishery, his new show Blair Wiggins Outdoors, and why restoring water quality is the fight of our generation. Some of the moments I found most meaningful in this conversation were: The wild story of how “Mogan” became his nickname and brand. The rise of Addictive Fishing and what it was like to film all over the world. His first trip to Alaska — and how it changed him. The shocking scale of clam overharvesting and the black water years in the Indian River. Send us a textMeet Ricky, the familiar friendly face who's been pouring perfect pints at Intercoastal Brewery for years, now making waves in the local food scene with his artisanal hot sauce brand, Tu Madres. This episode takes you behind the label to discover how a casual conversation about selling homemade salsa transformed into a thriving local business with distribution across Brevard County. What started as a simple side hustle quickly evolved when Ricky's business partner Angelina stepped in to formalize the venture. Together, they've created a hot sauce that stands out in a crowded market by focusing on fresh, local ingredients without artificial preservatives or stabilizers. Their flagship carrot habanero sauce delivers a perfect balance of heat and flavor that enhances rather than overwhelms food—from morning eggs to seafood to tacos from the local Mexican market. The conversation delves into broader food trends as Ricky and host Jesse Hall discuss how consumer preferences are shifting toward cleaner ingredients and more authentic flavors. They explore the evolution of hot sauce culture from pure novelty "challenge" products to more sophisticated, flavor-forward offerings. The episode also reveals Ricky's upcoming projects, including a bacon-infused chipotle sauce debuting at the Bacon Beer Bash and his creative ventures beyond the culinary world—a found footage horror film he's producing with local talent in the EGAD district.Whether you're a hot sauce aficionado, a supporter of local businesses, or simply someone who appreciates the creative spirit of the Space Coast, this episode offers a flavorful journey through one entrepreneur's passion project. John and Dan share notes about the writing life, the freedom of constraints, the careers of Joan Didion, Jack Kerouac, and Hunter S. Thompson, and physical transcendence—with the occasional contribution from Dr. Truth.

I'm delighted to introduce Adele LaPointe, whose thoughtful approach to organization transforms even the most daunting tasks into achievable goals. Let's dive in! Adele is a  Professional Organizer and Author. Her business Chaos to Clarity has been teaching overwhelmed people to create organized systems that help them see clarity in their lives for 20 years. Adele is still very passionate about helping people because she has personally seen how being organized can be life-changing.  She likes to share that she was her first client.  Having gone through many different challenges she knows how life's situations can create chaos in our lives.  With experience, creativity and a non-judgmental approach Adele loves the challenge of creating systems and environments that work for her clients in their homes and offices. In Adele's book, Get Organized for Life 7 Steps to Take You From Chaos to C.L.A.R.I.T.Y, she teaches her process on how she assesses her clients' situations and comes up with effective solutions.  Here's a glimpse of our conversation:  Welcome to the podcast Adele. 2:48 I like lists because they help clear my mind—they're a simple way to "dump" everything onto paper (or a device). I don't know about you, but when I have things to do, my mind keeps running in circles. Did I remember everything? Did I forget something? That's why having a list is so helpful. Once it's written down, it's out of your head, and all you have to do is refer back to it. A list can take any form—a note on your phone, a voice memo, a sticky note, or even a scrap of paper. Whatever works best for you to stay organized and at ease. 3:25 Before you go on a trip, one of the best things you can do is create a designated space for everything you'll need. I've helped many clients who feel overwhelmed, saying, "I need to go on a trip, but I don't know where to start, and I'm too busy." My advice? Choose one spot—whether it's an open suitcase, a spare room, a couch, or a chair—and make it your travel prep area. As you go about your routine, start placing everything you'll need for your trip there. For example, do your laundry a week or two before you leave. Pick out the clothes you want to bring, make sure they're clean and folded, and place them in your designated spot. This simple habit keeps you organized and reduces last-minute stress. 9:16 I always suggest to my clients that if there are certain travel essentials—like your favorite neck pillow, special headphones, or anything else you love to have on a flight—pack them in advance. Keep these items in a small bag or container inside your suitcase. That way, when you open your suitcase, everything is already together, ready to go. You won't have to scramble at the last minute or repurchase something at the airport just because you forgot where you put it. 13:18 I hear this a lot in home organization, though it applies just as well to travel. How many times do we say, "I'll take care of that when I get back," or "I'll deal with it once I move?" If you find yourself thinking, "I'm too busy; I'll just do it later," try to pause and ask, "Can I take a few minutes to do this now?" Taking care of small tasks before you leave means you'll come home to less stress and a smoother transition back into daily life. 18:52 Organization is really just about keeping similar things together. Even in a hotel room, I like the idea of having a designated technology area—one spot where everyone plugs in their phones, laptops, and other electronics. This helps avoid the common scenario where you charge your phone next to the bed, grab it in the morning, and go about your day—only to realize later that you left behind a charger or another device. Creating a central charging station keeps everything in one place and makes it easier to pack up when it's time to leave. “New York is a city of possibility and endless exploration. There's always something new to discover around every corner.” – Elizabeth Gilbert Guest Introduction:  Welcome to Exploring the Seasons of Life: Travel Edition. I'm Cindy MacMillan, your host and the owner of Pangea World Travel Agency, a boutique agency located on the Space Coast of Florida. If you enjoy today's episode, I'd love it if you shared it, left a review, or spread the word. Your support helps us inspire even more travelers to embark on their own adventures. So, pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea, settle in, and let's explore the world together—one incredible journey at a time. Now, it's my pleasure to introduce our guest today. Chris Shelley is a licensed New York City Sightseeing Guide. He offers private walking tours through his company Walk With Chris. He is also a Professional Wedding Officiant who has performed hundreds of ceremonies all around the country. His book Best Ceremony Ever, published by WW Norton, helps couples and wedding pros make ceremonies fun. He's a very social guy who loves his two very social, very unique jobs. With his diverse experiences and deep love for New York City, Chris is sure to bring fresh insights and great stories to today's conversation! Here's a glimpse of our conversation:  Welcome to the podcast Chris. 1:58 I moved to New York City in 1992, right after graduating from Boston University, where I was part of a small acting conservatory. All 12 of us in the program moved to New York, hoping to make it in theater—or maybe even TV and film—since so much of the industry was based there. I was such a good actor that I ended up working on Wall Street. 4:40 My wife and I were in New Orleans, Louisiana, taking a walking tour with a local guide—something we love to do wherever we travel. We've done walking tours all over the world—Italy, Iceland, France, the Czech Republic, and many other places. But during this particular tour, I had a Eureka moment. I suddenly thought, Could I do this? It had everything I loved—social interaction, storytelling, even elements of stand-up and acting. I had always assumed you needed to be a history professor or an expert to lead tours, but in that moment, I started to see it differently. 9:35 When I take people to Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Grand Central, and other iconic landmarks, that's where I truly shine—I light up because I'm genuinely interested. Sure, I could learn a bunch of facts about different parts of the city, but without a personal connection, it just wouldn't be as engaging. 14:56 Tourists often stick to the middle of Manhattan and rarely venture to its edges. 28:41 I'd take them to Rockefeller Plaza. Yes, it's touristy, but it still feels like a unique and fascinating hub of the world. Unlike Times Square, it isn't all about commercial glitz—it's about the stunning architecture and the iconic sunken plaza. For part of the year, it's a skating rink, but the rest of the time, it transforms into a space for art exhibits and picnic tables. It's an incredible place with an energy all its own. 31:23 Rockefeller Center, the southeast corner of Central Park, and Washington Mews.
