Jake and Phil are joined by ghostly spirits from the other side of the flimsy veil that separates our world from the next in this extremely Frightening Lightning episode. We rank pie, water parks, earplugs, newspapers, wedding anniversaries, audiobooks.SHOW NOTES: The Kurt Vonnegut story Phil was talking about was Harrison Bergeron. Full text of the story is here, it's very short. It's been adapted several times for TV and movies. It's the kind of science-fiction story that probably gets taken the wrong way a lot. The Video game we mentioned but didn't know the full name of was Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road. Here's a video of what it looks like a real Super Sprint vibe to the proceedings. Key Lime pie is brought up. You don't need limes from Key West to make these pies, just use regular limes. The Stephen King audiobook that the populist Phil talks about is 11/22/63. It was made into a movie on Hulu. Phil's not a Stephen King guy really but he likes time travel stories. This book is about a portal that opens up to a particular town in Maine on the same day. A guy who owns a hamburger place goes into the past and buys the same meat over and over from this town in Maine to bring back to the present to serve to his customers. Wait, maybe that's Stephen King telling on himself! If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).
RC Pro-Am is not only one of my favourite games on the NES, but it's one of the best games in that iconic little grey box's library. And I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit here and let anyone say anything different. Fortunately, nobody seems to be. The game is pretty basic. There's no real car customization, no multi-player, it only features one game mode, and there isn't even any in-game music, but none of that matters. You control a red car, you try to drive faster than blue, green and (cheating) yellow cars, and it's just a really fun experience. The game is over thirty years old, and I'll argue it's as playable today as it was back in the 80's. My buddy Brad is my guest this week, and we talked about how less was more when it came to the NES sometimes, with RC Pro-Am being exhibit A for that argument. We also touched on the fact that this was the beginning of great things for RARE as a developer, and how I didn't realize "R.C" stood for "remote control" until about a week ago... And before we talk about my incompetence, it's time for another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'! This week, we talked about how some games are synonymous with their creators (Hideo Kojima, specifically), and whether or not that's a detriment to the games themselves. Someone asks how often I get "you should play _____" messages, and how I respond to them. And I share my initial thoughts on Metroid Dread (it's very, very good.) PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring some retro racers - Super Off-Road, Uniracers, and Virtua Racing! Are you on social media? Of course you are. So follow us! This week on the podcast, we're adding a classic arcade multiplayer racing game in Super Off Road to the Endless List. In the first ever, social distancing podcast we discussed the game's history, the man Ivan Stewart and the differences between the dozens of ports. Where did this game land on the Endless List? Find out in the podcast and on our Medium page (linked here).
Jump back 30 years with us to discuss Super C, Xexyz, Tecmo World Wrestling, WCW, Super Off Road, Pin-Bot, Ghostbusters 2, Dynowarz, Snake's Revenge and more!
In this episode Greg and George look at a 'off road' racing game, Super Off Road! The SNES port of the arcade game Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road (Ivan's name was not included in this version due to licencing issues), it's a game where you or you and another human race versus computer controlled trucks around a course to be the first to finish. Featuring power ups, aggressive AI, and numerous courses, the game was a success in the arcades and spawned three sequels. We look at how game looks and plays, how it fares as a arcade port, and if it's fun to play today. If you have any questions or comments please leave them on our FB page or send an e-mail to thesnespodcast@yahoo.com and please check out our Patreon at www.patreon.com/snespodcast and as always thanks for your support!
On today's show, Marc doesn't have all that much to talk about, so they play and talk about Super Off Road: The Baja for Super Nintendo, as well as the ridiculous price difference in two recent sold listings of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist on eBay. Anyway, something-something double the price and can you please tell me why, cheers and enjoy the anime-zing(ly bumpy) show. Anyway, that's it and that's all folks. If you're feeling extra generous, you can become a patron, donate a little something-something, or subscribe to show your support for the site, the plentiful podcasts, the various videos, the absurd art, and all of the other nonsense we make over here at Pixelated Sausage. We've come to the end of 1991. There are just two games left to talk about and instead of jumping into the games of 1992, Emmy Zero and SteampunkLink decide to look back on the first year (well half of a year) of the SNES's life. So after some lively discussion about Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 and Super Off Road, they chat a bit about how the list stands as 1991 draws to a close and some of their favorite games, or just games they found fascinating. Thanks for listening, and we'll see you in 1992!

Another double-header of sports-themed games, but this time the works under the microscope don't adhere quite so rigidly to genre standards. Instead, both Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball and Super Off-Road take more inventive approaches to their subjects in pursuit of fun... though one of these is definitely more successful in that objective than the other.
Forty years ago, after huge success with Star Wars, Mark Hamill showed up in a down-to-earth comedy about a boy and his car in Corvette Summer. Join shazbazzar and JediShua as they get revved up in high speed at 77 minutes per episode on this Memorial Day TechnoRetro Dads. In the NEWS Thundercats return to the small screen, but they don’t appear to be like the classic ‘80s cartoon. A She-Ra reboot looks like it will be more faithful to the original. Kitsis and Horowitz line up to run the Amazing Stories reboot overseen by Steven Spielberg. Galaxy’s Edge gets a release date…sort of. And in sadder news, legendary movie poster artist Bill Gold and Lois Lane Margot Kidder both leave this life. We Love Our Cereal… …and other sweet, sugary, and colorful breakfast foods. This coming Friday is National Doughnut Day…again! It seems like it comes twice a year, doesn’t it? PLUS: Cereal Feedback from Jonathan, Adam, and Shane. Corvette Summer Mark Hamill and Annie Potts make an unlikely couple in 1978’s Corvette Summer, a RomCom featuring a boy’s automotive dreams, a girl’s effort to make it in the world, and the love they find along the way. Although JediShua saw this one in theaters in 1978, shazbazzar didn’t see it until a week ago. But in the end, the ‘Dads both love this movie! Check it out when you can. It’s a fun flick with lots of surprises and flashbacks to ‘70s culture for GenXers. TechnoRetro Arcade Drop a quarter in the slot and take off with a shot in some great driving games we played in arcades and at home. From the confusing axonometric driving in Super Off Road to the “behind the car” perspective of Pole Position, driving games have always been popular in the arcade. We remember Rally X, Spy Hunter, futuristic F-Zero, and (of course) Super Mario Kart as we put one foot on the brake and one on the gas at the TechnoRetro Arcade. Feedback Mike MacDonald agrees that Twiki and Dr. Theopolis are similar to Bollux and Blue Max from the Brian Daley Han Solo novels, but Mac admits he hasn’t seen Willow, yet. Shane in GR recalls the blue Hot Wheels carrying cases he used to have as a kid and wonders if they’re still in his parents’ house. Jimmy in GA submits some sketches of Tony the Tiger and Buzz from Honey Nut Cheerios. John Schepler helps shazbazzar out with the identity of Chris Claremont. REJUGANDO SUPER OFF ROAD ¿Recordais aquella maquina arcade con 3 volantes y coches de colores dando vueltas a un circuito? Eso era Super Off Road. Y para dentro de 15 dias...ANOTHER WORLD

It’s time to get ready to shoot some friends so Justin, Cole, Ethan, Gifford, and Christina revisit their multiplayer gaming history. From Atari to Xbox Live, Breakout to Worms, Gears of War to Double Dribble, we define our favorite era of multiplayer. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow Our competitive blood is boiling in preparation for the 1st Horrible All Nighter this week. Before we can get to that though, Christina and Gifford fight over the true identity of Michael Caine. Our on the Spot question asks which video game protaganist has had the roughest life where Isaac Clarke and Animal Crossing can finally go head-to-head. Our Memorable Multiplayer discussion takes the Cursed on another time travelling adventure to the days of having only one Atari controller, hard fought Tecmo Bowl victories, and learning the arcade art of spine ripping. Justin is forced to relive his Goldeneye nightmares and still isn’t able to convince anyone new to play Smash Bros while Cole eventually gives way to admit he still enjoys Modern Warfare. Join us this Thursday at 8pm EST on Xbox Live for our Gears of War 2 Horrible All Nighter. Put us in our place and we’re sure to talk trash about you in a future episode. As we head out, Christina asks for a death certificate from Square Enix and Cole is tries to talk himself out of PlayStation Plus.
