He doesn't actually appear on the episode of NXT that originally aired on October 30th, 2014, but he's here to talk about it with us, and we couldn't be happier! And by "he," we mean former NXT wrestler AJ Ryder, aka Troy McClain! AJ joins us for the entire show, breaking down Sami Zayn's latest redemption roadblocks, Hideo Itami's inexplicable decision making, and Emma's temporary return to the show. He also discusses his journey into (and out of) pro wrestling, pulls back the curtain on his experiences as a member of the 2014 NXT roster, and shares a myriad of stories from his time in the ring. It's truly a very special episode, and we're thrilled to be able to share it with you. Be sure to check out AJ's podcast, The Triple Clowns, and follow him on Twitter @TroyMcClainWWE. "We can get through this." With everything going on in the world including the COVID virus, natural disasters and so much more - Jason Coombs walks us through how we can manage behavioral and emotional health during a crisis. Jason describes his journey in his own words here, "I have effectively guided thousands of addicted individuals and their families out of the chaos and into recovery. I am a person in long-term recovery myself and so I've been there. I now lead a nationally accredited substance abuse treatment center, Brick House Recovery. I'm a professional TEDx speaker, consultant, and leadership expert." Brick House Recovery was established in 2014 when our founder noticed an aching need in the Treasure Valley community: high-quality, private, faith-based addiction recovery. Since that time, our goal has been to provide exceptional and effective treatment for adults struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. https://brickhouserecovery.com Get his book here: https://unhooked.brickhouserecovery.com ---------------------------------------------------------- About the Podcast: Connecting with the community is a priority for BVA. Some of the West's first known COVID-19 cases came from ski resorts that draw visitors from around the world. While resort towns like this can typically house a lot of tourists, St. Luke's only has 25 hospital beds. This story will shock you. Just over 20 years ago, Andrew Propst and Travis Tuttle were kidnapped, held for ransom for five days and let go while serving missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Saratov, Russia. Propst and Tuttle’s story goes far beyond a miraculous ransom survival story, which is why Garrett Batty contacted them to make a movie, “The Saratov Approach,” out of their shared experience. As the Associate Producer of the Saratov Approach, Andy Propst helped fund, write, promote, and deliver a national theatrical release of a full-length motion picture that won multiple awards and returned an IRR to its investors of more than 1000%. Andy Propst is now the CEO of HomeRiver Group, a Meridian company that has acquired a half-dozen property management companies around the nation in the last two years and now manages nearly 5,000 rentals in 20 states. Andy has over 15 years of experience both in residential and commercial real estate management. Past President and Owner of Park Place Property Management, a Certified Residential Management Company (CRMC®), in Boise, Idaho. Andrew has illustrated throughout his career his resolute commitment to delivering first-class results for clients, as well as consistently improving efficiencies and operations across his companies. Industry knowledge and a keen focus on technology has been a major priority for Andy. He has obtained three of the leading industry designations: Certified Property Manager® (CPM®) from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM®), Master Property Manager ® (MPM®) and Residential Management Professional ® (RMP®), both from the National Association of Residential Property Managers ® NARPM®. Volunteerism has been a major focus and joy for Andy, from service on the National Board of Directors of NARPM® for six years as a Regional Vice President, to National Treasurer, National President-Elect, and then his election as President of The National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM®) in 2015. www.homeriver.com/team Enjoy this episode and share with us your thoughts on social media @bvadev! ------------------------------------------------------- About the Podcast: Connecting with the community is a priority for BVA. Nathan Ogden knew his life to be near perfect with two young children, a wonderful wife of four years, and a successful career. Then at 26 years old, life presented a drastic challenge three days before Christmas in 2001. Searching for adventure on a snow-capped mountain would soon have Nathan trading in his skis for a wheelchair. Coming off a ski jump wrong he was instantly paralyzed and diagnosed as a quadriplegic, not able to swallow or even breathe on his own. There was too much to live for so he battled through setbacks and obstacles with intense therapy. Nathan returned to work full time, was able to drive again, and embraced his new life from a seated position with the motto of “We Believe”. He was getting much stronger and knew he would walk again. Through intense therapy and pain over the next year he recovered nearly half of his body function and began working full-time again. Just as life seemed “normal” again Nathan experienced another devastating neck break that robbed him the use of his hands, triceps, and any regained movement from the chest down. By staring his excuses in the eye he found new legs to live life standing taller. Today, he is a highly sought after inspirational keynote speaker, trainer and author of the book, Unfrozen. Nathan has taught thousands in business, organizations, nonprofits and schools how to conquer their fears and move from paralysis to progress through eliminating excuses in their professional and personal lives. Nathan instantly connects with his audience and delivers invaluable principles they can relate to and act upon. Since his second neck break he has experienced snow skiing, snorkeling, skydiving, completing a half triathlon and most recently rappelling off a 150 foot cliff. Nathan resides in Boise, Idaho with his wife, Heather, and together they enjoy raising their four children. His courage and determination give hope and power to all who know and hear his message. This is not a regular Inspire Excellence podcast episode. This episode goes deeply into the specifics of the event of a plane crash that involved only one survivor, Nate Calvin. Nate was in a private plane, when travesty struck. "...the wingtip struck a tree. The plane spun around, hit a stand of pine trees and broke in half." The L-IV's fuselage impacted inverted, about 50 feet east of the runway with the tail, separated, about 30 feet behind it. Both wings were sheared off and a wingtip was found "lodged about 6 feet high in a pine trunk." This is the first time ever that this story has been shared publicly and in this amount of detail. Nate walks us through the series of events that happened before, during and after this tragic event. His story will have you listening to every word as he helps us visualize what it's really like to be in a plane crash. As a pilot himself, his understanding and breakdown of this event gives a unique perspective on this compelling story. Nate Calvin is the CEO/President of Aero LEDs. AeroLEDs was formed in 2005 with the intent to redefine aviation lighting as it existed for the last 50 years. With great attention to engineering function balanced with due consideration to product form, they have redefined the expectations of what and how aircraft lighting will be judged. **This podcast episode was recorded and had the publish date set before the helicopter crash involving Kobe Bryant and others. We pray for their families and hope all of us hug those around us just a little bit tighter. God bless. ----------------------------------------------------------- About the Podcast: Connecting with the community is a priority for BVA. Chris and Geanie Rodgers started Rapid Rope with an idea and a dream 8 years ago, now they are watching their dream come to life after recently landing a deal on ABC's Shark Tank. This Idaho based family business is a great example of what working hard and doing good looks like. Rapid Rope is designed for everyone and for almost every task, from tying your Christmas tree on your car to tying down a trailer of goods. Their product is designed to give you the most efficient way to store and use rope. Chris developed the idea after working as an electrical lineman in Idaho for over 20 years. He uses rope a lot in his day-to-day tasks. On Sunday,” Chris and Geanie showed the sharks how to survive a zombie apocalypse and tugged at the sharks hearts in the process. With lifetime sales of $172,000, and personal investment of $115,000 their own savings, Chris and Geanie, asked for $200,000 for 20% of their company. Chris had planned to quit his job, but the family needed the continued support. They are parents to five children, including a 12-year-old boy adopted from Ethiopia who was sick with colitis. Geanie quit her job as a nurse to take care of him. The couple built a school in their son’s name and did a fund run to raise money to help children in Africa. As Chris and Geanie went on to experience "the most nerve wracking, and most surreal moment of our lives" in the Shark Tank, Barbara Corcoran went on to give them the $200,000, for 30%of their company. "Our goal was to be ourselves, make our family proud and stick to our core values and beliefs and let it all fall into place. Our main drive at making our company successful is to be able to give back. We believe that if we live our passion and make our community, state, country and world a better place than we have done our part." Chris and Geanie Rodgers of Rapid Rope landed a deal in the Shark Tank - why can't it happen to you? All you small business owners and entrepreneurs, be encouraged by this! Keep after it. Tyler and Blake Nelson have accomplished something only a select few have done, they've earned all 137 merit badges offered by the Boy Scouts of America. These 15 year old, twin brothers joined the rare and exclusive club of being one of the few Boy Scouts to collect every merit badge, which includes everything from bugling to geology. These Treasure Valley kids have set an example for all of us for setting and achieving personal goals. As we kick off the first week of 2020, hearing this example of goal achieving can help us better understand the payoff of persevering. "It's really cool because we're gonna hopefully look back 20 years from now and remember the things that we've learned and the experiences we've had and memories that we can pass down to our kids and hopefully inspire them," Blake said. This interview is full of motivation, impactful stories, and valuable lessons learned while going after goals. Do you want a Warren Buffet-sized bank account? Well, Buffett once told today's guest a key to make it happen. If your definition of success has anything to do with money, you've already failed. Warren Buffett Although success has nothing to do with money, money is the byproduct of being successful, Buffett went on to tell my guest, Troy McClain. Troy is the CEO of AXS Consulting and the McClain Companies. He got his business start by becoming a finalist on President Donald Trump's The Apprentice in 2004. The reality TV show pitted businesspeople against each other for the privilege of running one of Trump's companies with a $250,000 annual salary. Even being the only contestant who lacked education beyond a high school diploma, Troy managed to become a finalist before hearing “You're fired” because of his educational shortcomings. That time with Trump was the first of many audiences that Troy found with successful men he wanted to follow. In this episode, you'll also listen to Troy McClain tell his story of meeting Warren Buffett via private jet and another successful businessman via tow truck (the story's even better than it sounds!) You'll also hear some memorable one-liners his “Ma” gifted him when she wasn't working as a bouncer or a trucker – or otherwise “between success cycles.” In short, you'll hear the incredible lengths Troy McClain went to get in front of successful men he wanted to learn from.
