Today we drill down on the S and C personality profiles (or styles) The DISC Model of Behavior was first proposed in 1928 by William Moulton Marston, a physiological psychologist, in his book Emotions of Normal People. Marston made a deliberate decision to focus only on psychological phenomena that were directly observable and easily measurable. Based on his research, Marston theorized that the behavioral expression of emotions could be categorized into four primary personality styles, based on the subject's perceptions of themself in relationship to their environment. These four types were labeled by Marston as Dominance (D), Inducement (I), Submission (S), and Compliance (C). These four styles are now commonly referred to as Driver, Influencer or Expressive, Supportive or Amiable, and Compliant or Analytical. There are many, many ‘spins' on this, including tests and books. It's commonly taught in sales training and business school. Marston created a model that integrated these four types of emotional expression into a two-dimensional chart. He used the criteria of ‘introvert vs. extrovert' and ‘direct vs. indirect' to make that chart. We'll draw that chart together later in the podcast. He wrote a lot about self-help and created the character Wonder Woman. Keep in mind that psychology is not a ‘hard science', meaning it is full of abstract concepts, theory, observational analysis, and conjecture. It is not the same as physics, chemistry, or biology which have provable equations and actual laws. Most importantly, remember that DISC is not a science, it's a guide. There is no specific personality style that is guaranteed to be successful or not successful in business or in real estate. Supportive or Amiable Personality Style: Indirect and Extraverted. - Very family-oriented, involved in schools and community. They're the ones with the bandaid when you need it. - Generally very caring and supportive. - Support roles in business typically but not always. - Beware of the versatile amiable competition! They are secretly very effective. You win by: - Listening, even if their stories are long or seemingly not relevant. It's important to them or they wouldn't be telling you. - Asking questions and listening closely to their answers. They can be very telling about what's most important to them. - Giving them lots of time to think about things without risking them losing out. This can be a delicate balance. - Share your testimonials. Amiable personalities are very likely to actually call or email your testimonials. - Eat what they offer you, compliment what they made. - Lots and lots and lots of communication! - Allow them to get to know you without getting too personal. Let's get to understanding these personality styles. To keep it practical and tactical, we'll first look at how you win and how you lose with each, specifically with regard to real estate appointments and transactions. Put these notes in each quadrant. The Driver Personality Style: Direct and Introverted. - Often they are entrepreneurs, CEOs or managers, or other positions of authority. You win by: -Showing up on time. -Being direct. -Being prepared and professional. -Asking pointed questions to understand their needs. -Showing how you'll deliver results. -Being factual and accurate and not full of fluff. -Send bullet-pointed, short emails. -Deliver on your promises. -Close for their business. The Influencer / Expressive Personality Style: Direct and Extraverted. -Life of the party types. They know everyone, are super social, very relationship-oriented. Party organizers. -Tend to be aspirational and move a lot. You win by: -Letting them be more dominant, especially if you too are expressive. -Being fun and responsive to them. -Know what they most desire and deliver it. Often this is to be in the same neighborhood as their friends or colleagues. -Compliment, compliment, compliment! They love attention! -Accept their gifts and praise with enthusiasm. -Don't assume they write down or remember important things in the transaction or process. Confirm a lot and ask them to put it in their calendar, etc. -Showing more than telling. You lose by: -Trying to be more dominant. -Being too quiet or aloof. -Assuming they read your long email or remembered your long voicemail. -Trying to sell them something they can't afford. This will make them embarrassed, disappointed, etc. -Being negative. Expressives are social and upwardly mobile types who like to have fun and share in group experiences. -Being too analytical. Not spreadsheet types. In today's video, you'll learn how to set the right goals for YOU based on your own individual Blueprint using the DISC personality theory. You'll understand why having the common 6-7 figures goal might be the reason you're not successful in your business or struggling to advance and you might even learn a thing or two about yourself along the way! _________________________________ ★★★★★ Review the Podcast → https://tinyurl.com/reviewthepodcast_________________________________ How to Set The RIGHT Goals for YOU Based on Your BLUEPRINT | Intro to DISC Personality Theory. Today I'm going to show you how to set goals that feel aligned with you. I grew up seeing successful people around me in the real estate world, so when it was my turn to start a business, of course, I wanted to emulate them. Now success leaves clues, Yes. But if you're striving to build a six or seven-figure business, chances are, you're probably not doing it in a way that's aligned with you. So WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE TO YOU? Sit down and write a description of what a successful person is. If that description doesn't resemble you and how you like to work, chances are you're working with a bit of misalignment and that's going to have a really big impact on the goals that you set and your ability to achieve them. I like to use the Disc Personality theory to really help people understand what their blueprint is so that they can start working more in alignment and less striving over things that are not. Now, the more often you can be working in alignment with your blueprint, the easier things are going to be.We will dive deep into figuring out your Blueprint by using the DISC Personality Theory to understand yourself. What are your strengths? What are your work preferences? What's the speed that you like to work at? What are some of the key traits that we might see from you? Do you prefer to work with people? Do you prefer to work with tasks? All of these things when they're brought together really makeup, up what is known as your blueprint! Knowing about these concepts will ultimately help you realize more things about yourself and how you're designed to work best! As a result, you'll now have the knowledge to set better goals that are in alignment with YOU and how YOU work best! _________________________________
Today is part 3 of 3, DISC Personality Profile real estate training and coaching. It's commonly taught in sales training and business school. Marston created a model that integrated these four types of emotional expression into a two-dimensional chart. He used the criteria of ‘introvert vs. extravert' and ‘direct vs. indirect' to make that chart. We'll draw that chart together later in the podcast. Keep in mind that psychology is not a ‘hard science', meaning it is full of abstract concepts, theory, observational analysis and conjecture. It is not the same as physics, chemistry or biology which have provable equations and actual laws. Most importantly, remember that DISC is not a science, it's a guide. There is no specific personality style which is guaranteed to be successful or not successful in business or in real estate. Let's understand the philosophy, but also have some fun applying it in a practical and tactical way. What we want you to understand and implement is that it's your job to be more like your prospects and clients, not the other way around. It is tempting to always surround yourself with people who have the same personality type as you on issues, but for the sake of growth, you sometimes need people with who you conflict. To interact with people different than you, you need to understand the personality types to meet them where they are at. Today is part 3 of 3, DISC Personality Profile real estate training and coaching. Naturally, anyone who'd say that tapping different parts of the body can be an alternative therapy for anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and some other conditions would seem silly to whoever would listen. Jeremy and Zach, too, would totally agree if they didn't experience it themselves. In this episode of The Fit Mess, Dr. Katie Nall puts Zach in a real-time EFT tapping session. In addition to her demo, Dr. Katie also talks about how EFT tapping proves to be more effective than cognitive behavior therapy, quantum memory, and her many client stories that show how EFT tapping works. Find out Zach and Jeremy's experience with EFT tapping in this episode of The Fit Mess with Dr. Katie Nall! Reinterpreting The Body's Energy Pathways Around the 1990s, the Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT tapping was first introduced at Stanford University by an electrical engineer. The proponent was Professor Gary Craig. Before EFT was developed, Gary avidly observed the methods of psychologists and psychiatrists when treating patients with mental issues like depression. When traditional talk therapy didn't seem to work, these experts tried a different technique from Chinese traditions. The experts that Gary observed started interacting with the energy pathways found in the human body. They saw through research that tapping different points of the body helps the clients with more effectiveness than talk therapy. As an engineer, these energy pathways looked like electrical circuits to Gary. From there, Gary combined his observations from psychology experts with his discipline as an engineer and what they learned from Chinese medicine. Thus, EFT exists. Find out how EFT tapping works from Dr. Katie Nall in this episode of The Fit Mess! About Dr. Katie Nall: Whether it is content or inspiration, Dr. Nall provides a memorable experience for the audience. The purpose of the keynote is to move the audience in a direction, and Dr. Nall prompts and reinforces sustainable movement. Contact her for details on availability and custom approaches to your needs. Within organizations, Dr. Nall is effective in moving individuals toward change. Understanding different approaches to change and assisting others in embracing benefits are one of her specialties. When your group is looking for an energetic, intelligent, effective trainer, contact Dr. Nall to discuss details. Many challenges are best served individually. Whether a client can benefit from increased communication skills with DISC Personality training or barrier reduction through Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Dr. Nall works one-on-one to assist others in moving to the next goal. Today is part 2 of 3, DISC Personality Profile real estate training and coaching. Let's get to understanding these personality styles. To keep it practical and tactical, we'll first look at how you win and how you lose with each, specifically with regards to real estate appointments and transactions. Put these notes in each quadrant. The Driver Personality Style: Direct and Introverted. -Often they are entrepreneurial, CEOs or managers or other positions of authority. You win by: *Showing up on time. *Being direct. *Being prepared and professional. *Asking pointed questions to understand their needs. *Showing how you'll deliver results. *Being factual and accurate and not full of fluff. *Send bullet pointed, short emails. *Deliver on your promises. *Close for their business. An important question for you. 2022 is almost here…have you completed your 2022 Real Estate Business and Lead Generation Plan? If not, no worries. We have done the hard work for you. Download your 2022 REAL ESTATE TREASURE MAP! Text HARRIS to 47372. It's that simple and takes 3 seconds. Text HARRIS to 47372 and when you do we will instantly text you back with a link to download. Terms & privacy: slkt.io/JWQt https://terms.smsinfo.io/tc.php?id=2886263&stlid=10950965 You lose by: -Showing up late or rescheduling, especially more than once. -Not being prepared so you seem to be winging it or taking their business for granted. -Sending long, text-heavy emails or lengthy voicemail. -Not following through on what you said you'd do. -Being assumptive versus factual. -Looking unprofessional, too casual or disheveled. -Not asking for their business. -Taking too long at your appointments / selling with blah, blah, blah instead of just blah! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Today is part 1 of 3, DISC Personality Profile real estate training and coaching. Based on his research, Marston theorized that the behavioral expression of emotions could be categorized into four primary personality styles, based on the subject's perceptions of themself in relationship to their environment. Terms & privacy: slkt.io/JWQt https://terms.smsinfo.io/tc.php?id=2886263&stlid=10950965 These four types were labeled by Marston as Dominance (D), Inducement (I), Submission (S), and Compliance (C). These four styles are now commonly referred to as Driver, Influencer or Expressive, Supportive or Amiable and Compliant or Analytical. There are many, many 'spins' on this, including tests and books. It's commonly taught in sales training and business school. Marston created a model that integrated these four types of emotional expression into a two-dimensional chart. He used the criteria of 'introvert vs. extravert' and 'direct vs. indirect' to make that chart. We'll draw that chart together later in the podcast. William Marston was also known by a pen name of Charles Moulton, and also invented the prototype of what would become a lie detector. He wrote a lot about self-help and created the character Wonder Woman. Keep in mind that psychology is not a 'hard science', meaning it is full of abstract concepts, theory, observational analysis and conjecture. Fact: Agents and Brokers who make the most profit in real estate are always those who understand versatility. Versatility means having the ability to handle a variety of types of personalities in a variety of situations with care and skill. Agents who are versatile rarely say things like, "I only work with people I hit it off with", or "I just can't work with those analytical types", or "She just needed too much hand holding for me." Instead, their script is, "It would be my pleasure to help you with - - - ". Let's draw that chart! At the top of the page, you'll put the label, 'Direct' and at the bottom, you'll write 'Indirect'. Next you'll label the left side of the page as 'Introvert' and the right side of the page 'Extravert'. Next, draw a big plus sign on your page to split it into quadrants, so you'll have an upper left, upper right, lower left and lower right quadrant. Write the letter D in the upper left, I in the upper right, S in the lower right and C in the lower left quadrants. Now we'll label those as Driver, Influencer, Support and Communicator, clockwise. Write small, because we're going to add some description to each quadrant. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Rich Scott is back again (previous presenter on Ep. 133) to tackle some common questions around the DISC assessment results.
This episode contains insights that I got after interviewing Trystan and Zoey this weekend. On Saturday Zoey talked about what makes a good Daddy, and on Sunday Trystan talked about the differences between Positive and Negative parenting. It really made me think about the importance of seeing things from your children's perspective to make sure that they are picking up what we think we're teaching them. It also helps to know how they communicate and how their personalities affect that. Some tools we talked about are The 5 Love Languages, DISC Personality, Meyers Briggs and the Enneagram types. These are useful to know so we can understand our children. Our objective after all is to teach them all we know and then get out of the way.
Understanding personality profiles can help to elevate your relationships and career success. In real estate, we have the opportunity to work with so many different clients, consumers and colleagues and knowing how to identify different personality traits can be really beneficial to an effective communication strategy with anyone. In this episode, Michelle Risi, joins us for a discussion on the DISC personality profile assessment that Daniel and Katie took to better understand their own strengths and weaknesses in the real estate field. Michelle is not only trained in DISC assessments, she is also the Broker/Owner of Royal LePage Connect Realty, Owner/Founder of the Aligned Agent Academy, and Host of the chart topping podcast the “Aligned Agent Podcast”.
Mike Kestly from Kestly Development talks to the team about DISC profiles. Why understanding the personality types of key employees in a business setting can set a company up for success or failure. Calum puts his entire career on the line and offers up his DISC. Meh, no big surprises actually. LOL

If you've ever worked in sales and thought, “I don't know why I couldn't overcome that objection” or “I don't know why that person didn't buy from me,” then this is the episode for you. Ryan Tuckwood is an engineer turned award-winning sales and business coach. He is the CEO and one of the co-founders of ISR Training. ISR Training is one of the only companies in Australian Shark Tank history to have all three sharks invest in their company. Check out the show notes and make sure to tune in to the show. We have so much valuable information for you, and you would not want to miss a single second of it! Starting With Sales (1:50) He did not want to learn about sales because of all the misconceptions. When he had no other choice, he realized it is a learned skill. His manager challenged him to study all about sales—body language, NLP, emotional intelligence, behavioural science, among others. From 21st place, he moved to 1st on the board of salespeople. Always go to bed more educated than when you wake up. The Beginning of ISR Training (7:00) ISR Training was formed in 2014 with the sole mission of changing the perception of sales. You can tell the truth, be a good person, and influence and inspire people to take action for the greater good while making money along the way. The SWISH method was formed: Selling With Integrity & Selling Honestly. They started as a not for profit recruitment agency, where they trained job seekers for free to get them into businesses that are hiring. They only charge the job seeker if s/he is accepted. ISR Training entered Shark Tank AU, giving them another level of credibility. They eventually stopped recruiting and went all-in with approaching businesses and sales training. Five Distinctive Moments in a Sales Process (12:23) Introduction, Discovery, 3 P's (Presentation, Packaging, Pricing), Closing, Handling objections Ryan's whole basis for building a sales training company was to remove objections. Consult better on the front end to stop objections or getting rejected. It all starts with the first conversation, so make it count. Mistakes People Make (15:34) People have the wrong intentions. They only aim to make a sale, and they end up trying to find shortcuts. Shift your mindset to helping people and finding solutions for them. Then you can naturally move along the sales process. ARIO: Appreciate, Relate, Isolate, Overcome Drive and Motivation (18:49) You can use traumatic stages in your life as a reason to hold you back, or you can use it as a catalyst to move you forward. In your stressful days, you can use your drivers to keep you moving forward. Pricing and Pitching the Proposal (23:17) ISR Training's most significant issue was underpricing. When you underprice yourself, you attract a certain clientele, one that does not appreciate what you do. Double your current price, at the very least. It will be scary, but you need to believe that you can deliver on the back end. Whenever somebody asks you for the price point, always reference the highest one. Basis for Closing Strategy (34:33) Using the DISC Personality test. Create a list of features, advantages, and benefits based around a product, yourself, and your company. This will give you 18 to 30 language patterns, and you can pull upon these depending on the personality type you have. Scripting and roleplay: The importance of having a structure Sales = Communication (34:33) We're in the game of communicating our message. You're not just a sales trainer but also a communication trainer. You're helping people communicate the value of what they do better. Getting People Onboard (42:12) One red flag to look out for is any sort of excuse about why it didn't work for them at another job. They also look for products of their process. Always be recruiting. From a sales perspective, you're kidding yourself if you think somebody will continue to work really hard if you don't pay commission. Cutting off deadwood: ISR Training considers three months of underperformance. They still give training sessions for underperforming employees. Tracking Numbers (55:17) Dials: How many people are they connecting to? How many bookings are they making for appointments or demonstrations? Lapses with sales and revenue. Phone time: Low dials and high phone time means longer conversations. If that's the case and you're still not making revenue, what is going on during those conversations? Generating five leads from cold calling. 80 dials with around 50 conversations. To connect with Ryan and learn more about ISR Training and what they can do for you, visit their website. SHOW NOTES The average tenure for a VP sales is about 19 months. What is important to prolong that is for the VP to be adaptive to the future steps of the organization. Kirk implemented something he learned from another sales leader, put time every morning to look at what is needed long term vs where things are currently standing. Kirk finds that generally a new VP sales will bring with him people he or she has worked with before that they trust to get the job done. For the current employees he says that it is a great opportunity for them to step up and learn new skills. When Kirk steps into a new company, he prefers to have a mix of existing sales executives with new ones that he has brought on. This helps to maintain company culture. As the new sales leader in an organization, you need to first know what you are going to ask of the sales people. Is what the company did in the past going to work moving forward? With after 26 years of experience Kirk says that he wishes he knew at the beginning of his career to look at people as individuals. Meaning each salesperson has his or her own personality and skill set that works better with different types of clients. Building trust is key especially as the transaction size gets larger. Questions he goes through when starting at a new company to start selling: 1- Understand what problem you are solving 2- Who has this kind of problem 3- What is the competitive differentiation. 4- Do we have the right personal (To sell, on board and support it) When hiring a new sales person, he is looking at the DISC profile to help make a hiring decision. Looking for extroverts with high sense of urgency. Liked creative people with high sense of integrity. You should have the training program ready before hiring new members so that you can quickly ramp them up and get them selling. Even have a bonus plan set where they will get a bonus for getting up to speed quickly. He always applies fairness. He tries to fairly get a new agent a win before the expected time would be. So if its a 9 month sales cycle, he would try to help them close a deal before the first 9 months of the persons time at the company.
