"Escalating Tensions: US Deploys Two Aircraft Carriers to Middle East" #Israel #Hamas #escalation The Pentagon announced late Saturday that it will send an aircraft carrier and air defense systems to defend U.S. military troops in response to a growing number of attacks on U.S. facilities, presumably by Iranian-backed groups as tensions mount amid the Israel-Hamas conflict. Additional U.S. military forces in the U.S. have also been placed in a higher state of readiness for a possible future deployment to the Middle East on short notice. In a major change, the aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower and its strike group of a cruiser and destroyers is being redirected to the Middle East instead of to the eastern Mediterranean where it was supposed to join the USS Ford strike group as an additional deterrent for Iran and Hezbollah from broadening the conflict between Hamas and Israel.

This week, the USS Eisenhower strike group destroyed more than a dozen missiles and drones in the Red Sea, part of a series of attacks since the war between Israel and Hamas began in October. The attacks make it increasingly less likely the two Norfolk-based carriers or the five other ships homeported in Hampton Roads will return quickly from the Middle East after the New Year.

The State Department is calling on all Americans to leave the country and increasing the number of flights for Afghans seeking to flee. NOTE: After recording, the US announced it was deploying 3,000 troops to Afghanistan to aid the evacuation and the Taliban-seized Kandahar.  Kyle discusses a new secretive NSA program code-named ‘WildandStormy.' Little is known about the project other than that it is a new cloud program for the agency. Amazon Web Services is reported to have won a $10 billion contract to produce the system. The US had already won a limited appeal of the judge's ruling that Assange could not be extradited to the US because mental distress and the cruel US prison system would cause him to commmit suicide. However, the US was able to score a larger victory, allowing a wider scope for their challenge to the judge's decision.  Kyle updates some of the latest US preparations for war with China. The Pentagon concluded a stress test on the USS Ford by detonating a 40,000-lb bomb in the ocean near the ship. The explosion caused some damage, but the US says it proves the ship could withstand an attack from Russia and China. The US is also conducting the SEACAT war games with 20 other nations in Singapore and planning naval war games in the Pacific next month.  Signs of potential for diplomatic progress on the Korean Peninsula quickly came to a halt when South Korea announced the start of annual war games with the US. The Future of the U.S. Aircraft Carrier: Fearsome Warship or Expensive Target?

Heritage Events Podcast

Over 70 years ago, U.S. Navy aircraft carriers supplanted battleships as preeminent warship with their ability to strike enemy warships or land targets hundreds of miles away. Since World War II, U.S. aircraft carriers and the carrier air wing have operated relatively unthreatened, providing unrivaled air support and power projection capability in every U.S. conflict. Recently, an increasing number of critics are predicting the end of the aircraft carrier era. They cite the growing threats from anti-ship missiles, such as China’s DF-21D “carrier killer”; the proliferation of increasingly quieter attack submarines; and advanced integrated air and missile defense capabilities. They also argue that current carrier strike fighter aircraft and their weapons lack sufficient range to engage targets in a denied/degraded environment. Aircraft carrier proponents argue that a modern U.S. supercarrier uniquely provides a globally deployable U.S. airfield that can rapidly respond to emergent crises and does not depend the approval of any host nation. While they acknowledge the increased threats to the carrier strike group and its air wing, they argue that introduction of the fifth generation F-35, long-range unmanned carrier-based tankers, advanced weapons and electronic warfare systems, and the employment of new operational tactics will enable the aircraft carrier to remain relevant for the foreseeable future. Can the new USS FORD-class aircraft carrier and a modernized carrier air wing provide effective sea-based power projection against near-peer competitors like Russia and China, should the U.S. Navy develop smaller aircraft carriers with new weapons systems and carrier aircraft to meet these 21st Century threats, or should the U.S. move on from the aircraft carrier? http://www.epicprogress.com/daily-trump-damage-report-292017/ Happy Nazis, Trickledown 2.0 (The Moistening), wall costs, unbelievable White House product sponsorship opportunities, and which minority is next on the hit list? All this and more in today’s Daily Trump Damage Report for Thursday, February 9th, 2017.• Trump feels strongly that the state should be able to take all of your property without having a criminal conviction. At a meeting with Sheriffs, the orange menace espoused a penchant for making civil forfeiture easier, while simultaneously indicating that he doesn’t understand what it is.• White Nationalists are extremely invigorated and excited by the successful nomination of Jeff “Klampet Keebler” Sessions. White power online news sites and prominent KKK Grand Wizard and former Republican candidate David Duke hailed Sessions becoming the nation’s new Attorney General as a great step forward, in hopes that the Justice Department will begin targeting “thugs and illegals” – not-so-dog-whistle dog whistles.• Trump hypes a “phenomenal” tax package coming in a few weeks, offering no details. We do not need the details to know that it will offer a gargantuan tax cut to the richest 100 families in America, a sizable tax cut to the upper 3%, a rounding error of a tax cut to anyone making less than $200k a year, and lastly is formulated to bankrupt and default the United States government within 4 years.• Trump’s border wall is now expected to cost $21.6 billion in non-alternative fact dollars, and take 3.5 years to build. For the same cost, America could purchase a measles vaccine for every child on the planet, buy two USS Ford aircraft carriers, purchase the planet’s music industry, buy Iceland with enough money left to plop 7 Burj Kalifa skyscrapers on it. Net migration from Mexico was 0 for the past several years.• Inspiration for Disturbed’s rendition of the Sound of Silence and current White House adviser Steve Bannon would like you to very much know he is super-duper friends with Reince Priebus and would never, ever stab him in the back to save himself from the ire of Trump.• Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Gorsuch’s anti-Trump comments may help him succeed in making it to the bench, which call into question whether or not this was the whole point of the comments.• John McCain schools Trump’s perpetually humiliated press deceiver, Sean Spicer.• The chief information security officer at the White House has been removed, and we are not sure if he was fired or resigned. No comment has been issued as to whether or not a replacement has taken over.
