Golic & Smetty are back to give their thoughts on another huge weekend in sports. Nuggets sweep up with Lebron's Lakers as Lebron mulls retirement possibly. The WNBA has an awesome opening weekend as Brittney Griner returns and the W's “SuperTeam Era” begins. In the same fashion that LeBron was the talk of the town after the Nuggets advanced to the NBA Finals, Michael Block was the headliner at the PGA Championship even though Brooks Koepka hoisted the Wanamaker Trophy. What a story! NFL approves some rule changes and Mike helps you impress your friends with a trivia question about Tom Brady owning a part of the Raiders. It's major week and in this episode of The Slam, a National Club Golfer podcast in association with Callaway, with discussing who we think will lift that famous Wanamaker Trophy at Oak Hill on Sunday. Can you believe it's been more than 100 years since and Englishman won the PGA Championship? Well we've got a couple of names we fancy to end that drought - but there's a couple of solid Americans they will need to stave off first. Elsewhere, there was an emotional victory on the PGA Tour, while LIV Golf provided a rather entertaining Sunday. Let's go!
Bah gawd that's Justin Thomas' music! JT took home his second Wanamaker Trophy after an epic Sunday at the PGA Championship. Tampa Bay is in cruise control in the battle of Florida, while the battle of Alberta is red hot. The Warriors look destined to head back to the finals while the East is up for grabs. The Jays got back to their winning ways and the XFL lands a broadcast deal. The guys play a few rounds of Would You Rather and give their Locks of the Week. Follow @jabopod on Twitter! A windy weekend led to a playoff and a repeat winner at Justin Thomas claimed this weekend's PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell look at JT's big Sunday, Mito Pereira's disappointing final hole, and Will Zalatoris's impressive showing (1:27). Besides the raising of the Wanamaker Trophy, there were plenty of other storylines from the weekend in Tulsa, including the pros complaining about the course playing hard, balls hitting heads, Joe Buck's "return" to golf, Scheffler's poor showing, Tiger's roller-coaster weekend, and Phil's absence (5:53). The PGA Tour rolls onto the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial, where Alex expects one of the many Texas locals to claim the top prize (18:06). In Tuned In, Michael finally watched Spider Man: No Way Home and shares his review of the latest Spidey flick, while Alex is watching Foul Ball Guy Zach Hample on YouTube (19:37). This week's guests are the founders of Mullie Golf, an innovative app that allows golfers to find, buy, and sell vintage golf gear. Michael Zerah and Steve Moskowitz share their love of golf, their passion for vintage golf gear, and why they created the new golf marketplace (22:35). Alex is praying the Celtics claim the NBA's Eastern Conference Finals after a poor start to the Heat (50:02). As the guys #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex questions his sanity with frozen pizza, while Michael is a hero (50:48).
On this week's edition of the podcast we recap an eventful US PGA Championship where Justin Thomas captured his second Wanamaker Trophy at Southern Hills. From JT's playoff win over Will Zalatoris to agony for Mito Pereira, and another top-10 for Rory McIlroy, we dive deep on everything from Tulsa, including what a tied-ninth finish means for the ever-improving Seamus Power and Shane Lowry coming to the defence of a certain Olympic teammate. Elsewhere, we roundup all the Irish action from at home and abroad on the pro and amateur scene. As ever, we hope you enjoy the listen. Don't forget to subscribe and let us know what you think.

He told Amanda Balionis we will see him in the “future”, how will he play then (31:44)? Brooks Koepka was actually in the tournament on Sunday. This week we are very excited to bring to you our first major preview of the year as we talk all about the PGA Championship, which is set to begin this week at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California. We talk about the course, some key players we’ll be watching as well as make our picks for who will bring home the historic Wanamaker Trophy. Before doing so, we also preview the LPGA Tour season, which was just resuming as we recorded this episode. We get into some of the tournaments and changes to the schedule you can expect to see this year, as well as catch up on where some of the Canadian stars sit. Even more exciting than any of that, we are pleased to introduce a brand new segment to the show: The 19th Hole. This segment aims to dive into some of the culture that is often associated with golf, specifically beer. In this debut episode, we sit down with Curtis, the resident golf expert from Town Brewery to talk all about the burgeoning young craft brewery right in our backyard here in Whitby, Ontario. We talk a bit about Town’s story, its involvement in the local the community and also get into some beer and course “pairings,” from their staples like Square Wheels, to the limited run one-offs, like Absolute Unit or the appropriately named Worm Burner. You can check out Town on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to stay on top of their current offerings and to ensure you don’t miss out on any of their limited releases. You can also place an order directly from their website at townbrewery.ca, or better yet, drop in to their bottle shop next time you’re in Durham and say hi!
