In this message from Matthew 15:29–16:4, Pastor Karl examines two very different groups of people who come to Jesus — and what their approach reveals about how we receive grace. The first group comes from the Decapolis, a Gentile region with no religious standing or covenant claim. They bring broken bodies, unspoken needs, and nothing to offer — and Jesus meets them with compassion, healing, and even provision they didn't know to ask for. The second group, the Pharisees and Sadducees, arrives with suspicion and a demand for proof — and Jesus refuses to perform for them. The contrast surfaces a powerful truth: Jesus has endless compassion for those who come to him needy, but no obligation to satisfy those who come feeling entitled. Unworthiness isn't a disqualification for grace — it's the prerequisite for it.Pastor Karl unpacks why the disciples hesitated to feed the 4,000 (it wasn't that they forgot what Jesus could do — it was that they questioned who he'd do it for), what it really means to "fall from grace," and why the cross is the only reliable lens through which to interpret God's love. When we bring our "not enough" to Jesus, we find that inadequacy is exactly the raw material he's looking for.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

In this episode, Senior Pastor, Beau Eckert, and Pastor of Worship Ministries, Dave Ross, bring honesty, clarity, and hope to one of the most common—and uncomfortable—questions… even if you're just asking for a friend.

Worship teams have never been more skilled — yet many feel thinner, more fragile, and harder to sustain. In this conversation, we unpack the unintended cost of building worship ministries around skill first, and why excellence alone can't carry the weight of leadership, culture, and discipleship. We talk honestly about when contractors help or hurt, how expectations get misaligned, and why worship leaders often feel stuck between sounding great and shepherding people well. This isn't a critique of skill — it's a challenge to lead it wisely.Check out our free Volunteer Development Toolkit: https://getmxu.com/resources/volunteer-development-toolkit?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=talentFREE RESOURCES

Melody reflects on how queerphobia/homophobia in her church affected her connection with God and the church community. Melody shares some thoughts about partnering with God for vibrant and life-giving worship. To support the ministry of Melbourne Inclusive Church go to: www.michurch.org.au/giveMelbourne Inclusive Church boldly and proudly proclaims Christ's equal love for all people regardless of their ability, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, gender, race, ethnicity, or culture.Melbourne Inclusive Church is part of the EMI Global family of churches.
While Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity (DEI) has been a topic of heated debate in the media of late, the call to value every person is nothing new—it's at the heart of the Gospel. Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus radically included those who were excluded and stood up against injustice; showing us how important diversity is and how we should be living our lives in a way that challenges all forms of discrimination, just as He did. This week Cherlyn Chia, Co-leads of MIC's Queer Women of Colour Life Group and MIC's Praise and Worship Ministry, generously shares moments from her own life that inspired her to look deeply into the significance of standing up for equity not only for her life, but for those around her, and looking into the bible to see God's plan for diversity.

Our team did a little research on the most common internet searches on the topic of Worship. The results were things like: “What is worship? Who is worship for? What does worship actually do?” If someone walked up to you on a Sunday morning with those questions, would you be able to answer them well? 10KFAM's Content Director, Pastor Jonathan Swindal from New Life Midtown, sat down with our Executive Director to answer these questions and more. If you're in the weekly grind of leading worship or ministry work in general, this conversation is a great opportunity to step back and reflect on the bigger picture of why we do what we do.
