A little bit more about Matthew... Matthew Bowles is 3 x Grand Finalist on Australian Ninja Warrior. Originally from Manchester, Matthew's quiet confidence on the course has given him the nickname of the 'Silent Assassin'. Matthew is an ex-gymnast and ex-trapeze catcher, he also started rock climbing when he was 13. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys free diving with sharks (he can hold his breath for 5 minutes!).
What we covered: 1.So you've just recorded a course for us on play-based training - why did you feel compelled to create it? 2. In the course you cover a lot of scientific background as well as giving 50 great playful examples of play in action - can you give us a couple of nuggets here? 3. After burning out aged 34 while running his own furniture company and losing his mother to cancer a year later, JP listened to his true calling, joined the fitness industry and became an award-winning educator, speaker and industry mentor. Keli Roberts has been recognized for many prestigious awards in the fitness industry. In 2003, she was named the IDEA International Fitness Instructor of the year. In 2005, Keli was awarded the Best Female Presenter and in 2008 she received the Lifetime Achievement OBOW award and in 2007 she was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame. Keli is an ACSM EP and holds certifications through AFAA and ACE as a GFI, HC and CPT. Moreover, Keli is an SCW Faculty Member, a BOSU Elite Developmental Team Member and a Schwinn Senior Master Trainer and an Ambassador for Ryka.
Mary herself was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2007 and with secondaries in July 2014. Despite her own diagnosis she endeavours to raise awareness of the disease, in particular of secondary breast cancer. By sharing her experience and through her patient advocacy she helps others in her position. A little bit about Mary: Mary Huckle is a personal trainer and Pilates instructor from Enfield, North London and is the founder/owner of Breakthrough Fitness. She is married with 3 children. Her passion for anything health and fitness related has been a lifelong affair and after working in finance for many years she eventually changed her career path in 2003 when she left the world of finance to retrain as a personal trainer and Pilates instructor at the YMCA. She is also qualified in pre and post natal, breast cancer rehabilitation and children's fitness. Mary also takes pride in the fact that for over 13 years she's helped dozens of women regain their confidence and fitness during and after cancer treatment.
