This week, Paris turns up the Perturbator records, dons some aviators and a trenchcoat, and heads out into the rainy nights of 1980s Milwaukee to help our Patron Fred. Fred wrote to us saying, “...the sheer notion of a murder mystery with Happy Days characters that is apparently officially sanctioned by whoever owns the rights is enough to give me pause. I can't even find any information about why th[is] book was made and I just end up asking myself, “Who is this for?” because while I don't doubt that Happy Days still has a large fan base, I don't think many people would want to read a book about how one of the best characters on the show gets murdered.” We hope you enjoy this episode, Fred! Thank you so much for supporting TBC. Remember that if you, too, would like to have us read and review a book of your choice on the show, you can gain that power by joining our Patreon at the appropriate tier. Tread Perilously goes back to the beginning of the DoctorDonna with the 2006 Doctor Who Christmas special "The Runaway Bride." The Doctor's attempt to dwell on Rose Tyler's departure gets interrupted when Donna Noble materializes aboard the TARDIS in a wedding dress. She was moments from getting married and is in quite a state to now be on a spaceship with a very thin and maudlin Time Lord. Will The Doctor get her to the church on time? Will the Santa roboforms from the previous year's Christmas invasion get in the way? And will Donna's fiancé prove to be a poor choice? Erik and Justin discuss the latest Gallifrey One announcements and the fate of Dead Again. They get lost in the weeds discussing obscure media, the ghost of Arthur Fonzarelli, and the Babylon 5 hot shot pilot from Season 2. They also find things to like about "The Giggle." Justin's attempt to find the episode reveals the limits of technology. Wilf's absence during the wedding gets some fanon (and the real world reason for it). The pair try to figure out Nerys and warn writers away from employing Jack the Ripper in their work. A youthful David Tennant inspires feelings of mortality and Erik can't stop casting new actors in old TV shows reboots.

From 1974 to 1984 Henry Winkler played the character of Arthur Fonzarelli, “The Fonz”, in the hit American sitcom, Happy Days. The role dominated the public's perception of him, but despite being seen as the epitome of cool, he had many of his own demons to wrestle with. Henry joins Front Row to discuss his new autobiography, Being Henry: The Fonz…and Beyond. On Celebrity Jobber with Jeff Zito this week, Henry Winkler a.k.a. "The Fonz". What would have been if Henry wasn't cast as Arthur Fonzarelli, or "Fonzie" on Happy Days.? What type of work would he be doing if not for making hundreds of appearances on both the big screen and the TV screen, on stage, and behind the camera? Many celebrities will tell you that if not for that one lucky break or meeting, they would just be a ShopKeep, or selling Kia's somewhere. They may have been just a jobber. The very popular situation comedy, “Happy Days” ran for eleven seasons beginning in January 1974 and ending in July 1984. The series was set in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the 1950's and early 1960's and was centered around teenager, Richie Cunningham (played by Ron Howard), his family and friends, Potsie, Ralph and the local tough guy, Arthur Fonzarelli, known as “The Fonz”. A prominent figure in the Cunningham family was Richie's mom, Mrs. Cunningham, affectionately called “Mrs. C.” played by actress Marion Ross. During those eleven seasons, “Mrs. C.” earned a place in many people's hearts as America's mom. In this episode of Your History Your Story, we will be joined by Marion Ross, who is 94 years young and her son, actor, comedian and impressionist, Jim Meskimen. Marion will share a few stories from her autobiography, “My Days, Happy and Otherwise”. Stories will include her childhood in Minnesota and dreams of becoming an actress, her early career in movies and television and her rise to stardom as “Mrs. C.” on Happy Days. These days are yours and mine, these Happy Days. In the world of early 80s sitcoms, there was one king of cool.. Arthur Fonzarelli. As the Urkel of his day, the Fonz was a leather-clad dreamboat on one of the biggest and most memorable sitcoms of the day. The problem is, it is also the sitcom that coined the term we use when a show stops being cool or interesting and leaps over the large sea-dwelling creature. So, 6 years after the shark incident, did Happy Days find its footing again? Or was it good-bye blue skies, hello grey? Find out on The End: Happy Days Ok here we rock around the clock, Full Episode

6am hour -- not a good picture for WA voter turn-out in this month's big mid-term election, three murders in roughly 24 hours in Tacoma and all of them at unsanctioned homeless camps, Colorado Springs gay night club mass shooter disarmed by Good Samaritan protecting his family, 2021 bomb threat that should have put this mass shooter in jail, who is cooler: Arthur Fonzarelli or Patrick Mahomes?, Lars Larson and Carlson examine the puzzling new stats about disparate voter turn-out across WA. 7am hour -- GUEST: former immigration judge, Andrew "Art" Arthur, talks to KVI about Pres. Biden creating more chaotic border with cancellation of Title 42, the AZ Democratic US Senator candidly tells WaPo reporter that Democrats haven't recognized the Biden Administration failures about border security, far fewer WA Republicans voted in 2022 than in 2018's mid-term Congressional election so why are WA Republicans deciding not to vote?, "a real wake up call" for Republicans when it comes to voter turnout in future elections. 8am hour -- a Bellevue Police motorcycle officer hit and killed by driver while on patrol, the 34 yr old officer was married with two young children, some members of the Bainbridge City Council really don't want more Seattle people moving to the island, SBUX closes Seattle Capitol Hill store and union trying to unionize stores is crying foul.

Welcome back to the Bill Bradley Collective, where we are back on the grounds of the Leavy-berg Compound, returned from a one-week road trip to the tremendous Social Bar & Kitchen. We are back to get season seven off the ground and running, with a conversation show considering whether or not the NBA's so-called era of player empowerment has made like Arthur Fonzarelli and jumped-the-shark. Where we begin with the conception of player-empowerment is up for some debate, may it be Kareem Abdul-Jabar's move from Milwaukee to Los Angeles in the early 70's, ascendent post-Jordan superstars Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter's demand for respective departures from Toronto, or a LeBron James initiated play to make Miami the center of the basket-verse in teaming up with peers and fellow stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. A lot has changed since 1975; 2004; 2010. Individual player influence has grown exponentially, and as salaries have grown within some proportion to the NBA's increasingly exorbitant televised rights' fees, so have the influence of certain less-than-exemplary professionals: namely Ben Simmons, Kyrie Irving and James Harden. But first, the rants are back, baby, and with a vengeance. Ed sounds off at the start with a heated condemnation of an anti-abortion rights' amendment backed by both houses of Pennsylvania's state legislature; Andrew sets the stage for the Wimbledon gentlemen's final with long held animus for one finalist and begrudging fascination for the other less-accomplished, more mercurial opponent; and Zak brings it home with some dour news regarding the future of American democracy: the expected/pending outcome of Moore v. Harper in the Supreme Court likely coming down in support of independent state legislature doctrine.

Huge thank you to the iconic multiple Golden Globes and Emmy Award winning actor Henry Winkler for coming on my show for an interview! We began the interview talking about Henry's political views, the importance of climate change, and the uproar of people not wanting to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. We then got into his time in theater, his role as Butchey in The Lords of Flatbush, and how he was the reason for Sylvester Stallone making Rocky. Henry discussed getting the role of the most iconic TV character of all time Arthur Fonzarelli aka Fonzie or "The Fonz", his first day on the set of Happy Days, and if there will be another Happy Days reunion in the near future. He talked about what it was like working with Pat Morita, who played Arnold on Happy Days and later played Mr. Miyagi in the Karate Kid films. We then talked about Henry's role as Chuck Lumley in Ron Howard's 1982 Night Shift, working alongside Michael Keaton, and his cousin Richard Belzer. Fun Fact: Henry Winkler did not know that he and Richard Belzer were cousins until they did an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit together. We talked about his role as Principal Himbry in the late great Wes Craven's 1996 classic masterpiece Scream, his death scene taking two hours to film, and his Fonz jacket being in the closet scene. Henry is afraid of watching horror films and told the story of seeing Jaws for the first time when it was in theaters back in 1975. Henry told me about how it felt winning an Emmy for the first time as an actor for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Barry in 2018. We finished the interview talking about his important book series Hank Zipzer that he created with his writing partner Lin Oliver in 2003 to help kids who have dyslexia. He has a new book series called Alien Superstar and the final book of the trilogy is releasing this October. HBO's Season 3 of Barry will start filming on July 30th, 2021 and will be releasing soon. He is also the voice of Fritz in the new Monsters at Work animated series. Stay tuned! After the fiasco of last episode things can only get better.Well rest assured they do (by a very small amount). This episode we look at the British dessert of trifle. If you've never had trifle you are seriously missing out. Since its heyday of the 1970s the popularity of trifle has waned somewhat, but don't let that stop you.We have 2 stories from listeners, a wonderful story about elfing from Ali and a very funny story of shame from our American Scandinavian correspondent Benji. Then we look at An American Christmas Carol, with none other than Arthur Fonzarelli (or Henry Winkler) as Scrooge... sorry as Benedict Slade who is Scrooge by another name. It's a decent version and you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sG7x8hHFST0We have another book review (the 2nd one in a whole year, so don't tell me I'm not cultured). It's the delightful Family Trees by Aurelio O'Brien and it is highly recommended. If you want to grab a copy, here's a link:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aurelio-OBrien/e/B00MCHCK9I/ref=dp_byline_cont_pop_ebooks_1This episode's recommendation is Superstore. It's a great sitcom set in a big box store in St Louis and it stars America Ferrera from Ugly Betty. It's a lovely show and very funny. I've been binging it on Netflix. If you want to get in touch please email me at totalchristmas@gmail.comOr visit the website: totalchristmaspodcast.comMerry Christmas
Since the beginning of Then Is Now, I've been talking about pop culture that is disappearing from our collective consciousness. One of my go to lines has always been that people should know who Fonzie is. Arthur Fonzarelli, aka The Fonze, was a HUGE part of our pop culture for several decades, but if you ask a kid today who Fonzie is, they don't know! And that's very sad. Fonzie was a character on the famous sitcom, Happy Days, and remains as one of the coolest characters on TV. People SHOULD know who Fonzie is, and you don't have to have watched all the episodes of Happy Days, but you should at least be familiar with the show and the character. On today's show, we have another crossover with another podcast, this one is called These Days are Ours, where the hosts break down each episode of Happy Days on every show! So, if you fondly remember Happy Days and know what I'm talking about, or if you don't know what I'm talking about, sit back and you'll learn something COOL. Whoa! This week we asked acclaimed actor, comedian, and master impressionist Jim Meskimen to step behind the bench. Jim’s impressive body of work spans just about all of our Dueling Decades categories. Jim has worked on many of friend Ron Howard’s films as they both share the same mother, so to speak. Jim’s mom Marion Ross, played Marion Cunningham Ron Howard’s mom on the legendary TV show Happy Days. Jim’s voices can be heard all over Hollywood, video games, and television as he even appeared on a season of America’s Got Tallent! That being said, we knew he would be the perfect judge, and when Jim Meskimen is your judge you never know who is going to show up! Mike Ranger's short judicial career is over, and he is back with the best of November 1984! Mancrush jumped in the DeLorean without his seatbelt and ended up dialing in November of 1974. And to round out the competition, Marc James settled his tab at the cyber cafe and delivers a cappuccino with the best of November 1994! Jim pulled out his "wheel of impressions" and an arsenal of celebrity friends to help him judge this tightly knit battle between November 1974, 1984 & 1994! In this episode, you might hear something about Arthur Fonzarelli's vices, Mike Ranger's obsession with tight spaces, NBC manages to avoid sleeping with the fishes, Jim sticks to the rivers and the lakes he's used to, the grandpappy of thrash emerges a champion, Matthew McConaughey drops by to say hello, the RIAA announces the cement classification, George W. Bush gets confused, a pop quiz for 12.99, Mancrush channels his inner Robert Frost, NBC goes dark in the 90s, a deal that keeps getting worse all the time, Sands gets the ax before moving on up, Reitman delivers a bomb, Woody Allen stops by to say hello, Jack Sparrow gets crushed by a record player, Mr. Rogers only wears one sweater, Charlton Heston has sex with more women half his age, a mutt saves kidnapped children, frilly shirts are back in style, life growing up on the Happy Days set, deep fakes are frightening, celebrity fortune cookies, and did Fonzie ACTUALLY Jump the Shark? Do you agree with Jim's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard! Arthur Fonzarelli, better known as "'Fonzie'" or "'The Fonz'", was played by Henry Winkler for the full 11 year run of the show Happy Days. He is also the only one who can hit the jukebox at Arnold's and make it work. He has a verbal tic around the word "wrong", sometimes he can say it, but other times, he just makes noises. He does not want anything bad to happen to his hair.Gu brings you the 6 coolest Fonzie moments.Join the conversation on Twitter: @MACandGUpodcast
One day the urgent alerts coming to your phone will be all too real, warning of a massive earthquake that's about to hit Southern California within minutes, or even seconds. But today, for some 40-thousand people living around downtown Oakland whose cell phones went off with warnings of an approaching quake, it was just a test: the first big public roll out of the still developing early warning system, but a big first step toward making this tool available for everyone--we will go In Depth. President Trump, seemingly free from scrutiny over his alleged collusion with Russia back in 2016, has revisited an old political battle: repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act. The President has renewed his effort to get rid of Obamacare and promises an even better replacement........so we'll go In Depth on what a new national healthcare system might look like. Boeing says it has a software fix for the automated flight control system that was likely responsible for bringing down two brand new 737 MAX airliners in fatal crashes; but would YOU ever get back on board one of these planes? And Henry Winkler has been a well established pop icon for decades, thanks to his role as Arthur Fonzarelli on "Happy Days," but he's never been one to rest on old accomplishments. The actor, comic, director, producer and author has carved out new icon status on the hit dark HBO comedy, "Barry," which returns for its second season on Sunday...........and Henry Winkler joins us live. Hello and welcome to a show that remembers a simpler time. A time before streaming music services and MP3 players, when Arthur Fonzarelli could just walk in, smack the jukebox and get the songs he wanted...or as we like to call it,, Now That I'm Older. This week we have a very special show. It is our official 200th episode! We go all the way back to episode 1 and check out how amazing our sound quality used to be. We bring up some of our favorite clips, like when Kenny and Steven (Shane's Brother) made a commercial for selling pillow that may or may not have been a little racist. We also discuss goblins, Kenny falling and not being able to get up and a whole lot more. There are no shout outs for this week, but we wanted to thank a few people for helping NTIO become the show that it has. Christian Monkeberg was the first guy to ever suggest that I do a podcast, and from that idea we got all this. Patrick Duffy, head of The Rogue Intel podcast network took a chance on us when we had very, very few listeners. The OG #PodernFamily helped this show grow our listeners and still does to this day. We'd like to thank Steven for being a guest all those times in the beginning and to every guest we have ever had on...thank you! And finally to all of you! To everyone who currently listens to the show or have EVER listened to the podcast THANK YOU. You guys make NTIO what it is because without you guys it would just be us talking to each other. I'm quite tired today, so I've handed over the description of Episode 56 of 'Which is the Best?' podcast to a special celebrity guest, Mr Arthur Fonzarelli. Over to you Fonzie. "Eeeeyyyyyyy! It's me, Fonzie! When I'm not being dead cool in the 70s pretending it's the 50s, I like listening to podcasts on my jukebox. Sometimes the jukebox stops working so I hit it and it is fine. I listen to them in my office which is a toilet, my favourite is Which is the Best where the comedians Lee Kyle (A fat Ralph Malph) and Sammy Dobson (The Pinky Tuscadero of Newcastle)decide between things of the same or similar names. This week: Pawn: a sad shop or Pawn: A chess loser or Porn: EYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! Great, now I'll just check my hair in a mirror, it looks poifect! Now, where are my shark jumping skis?" Thanks Fonz! "EEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"
