This week on the podcast, my sponsor and dear friend, Dr. Ben Daniel joined me to talk about joy in the midst of suffering. Dr. Daniel has been through a very difficult time in the past couple years - he opened a new office, and well, things did not go as planned. Although things did not as planned, Dr. Daniel has found joy in the midst of his suffering. He admits he did not always do it perfectly, and still does not, yet he finds so much comfort in Jesus and specifically, in Matthew 15. Keep the main thing the main thing - that is JESUS! Kevin Appleby is in conversation with Roi Ben Daniel. Roi is the founder and CEO of Received, a billing and accounts receivable solution focused on the specialised needs of B2B sales organisations. They discuss the challenges facing mid-market SaaS companies and the pressures CFOs face around software costs, pricing models, and customer unit economics. Roi also shares insights into opportunities like service monetisation and why building invoicing in-house often doesn't make sense compared to a dedicated solution. Roi discussed how companies are gaining more pricing flexibility to address demands from both customers and investors. Offering tiered pricing through levels of service like bronze, silver and gold helps give customers options while protecting recurring revenues. He also talked about how services, which can be one of the highest costs for software businesses, are often provided for free historically. Now, companies are finding innovative ways to monetise services through recurring tiers with bank hours and overage fees. Organisations are also looking to "productise" services in order to maximise commercial value from each customer relationship. https://youtu.be/WVWwci4Ba7Y Links Join GrowCFO today GrowCFO Finance Transformation Boot Camp GrowCFO Show episode 137 "Subscription Pricing and Packaging" with Wolter Rebergen, Commercial Director at Younium Roi Ben Daniel on LinkedIn Kevin Appleby on LinkedIn Timestamps Cash flow and revenue management for B2B sales lead organizations. For those of us who grew up in the age of Dr. King or during the Vietnam War, pacifism made a lot of sense. And even if you didn't grow up in that era, pacifism can still make sense, especially in light of the ever-expanding US military budget which takes up more than 50% of the federal discretionary budget. But in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, how can pacifism be justified? Join me in a conversation with three guests: Rev. Mark Davidson, Rev. Ben Daniel and Rev. Dr. David Ensign.

Title: The Reality Of The Resurrection. Speaker: Ben Daniel. Passage: 1 Corinthians 15: 1-34. Series: Keeping Christ Central. Recording Date: 30.06.2019 - PM
The word bikurim was popularized in the Messianic movement in the wake of, “Yom haBikurim,” the day ‘after Shabbat’ when an omer of the first fruits of the barley harvest was offered in the temple (Lev 23:10). Interestingly, the word bikurim does not appear in this verse. The word, or rather the words, for “first fruits” here are reshit k’tzirchem, literally “the beginning of your harvest.” It may surprise many to know that in the same chapter, just a few verses later, the word bikurim appears, only now, in the context of another appointed time: Shavuot. Bring from your dwellings for a wave offering two loaves of bread, of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour they are, baked with leaven, first-fruits (bikurim) to YeHoVaH. – Leviticus 23:17 In verse 20, the lechem haBikurim, or “bread of the first fruits,” is mentioned and in Numbers 28:26 the Feast of Shavuot is called Yom haBikurim. Have we learned something wrong again? Not quite. The reality is, thematically speaking, that the “beginning of the harvest,” those fruits of the barley harvest offered during the week of Chag haMatzot (Feast of Unleavened Bread), from when we began to count the fifty days until Shavuot may also be called bikurim. So, if we want to define the terms correctly and accurately, it is important to understand that the Day of First Fruits is NOT called ‘Yom haBikurim’ in the Torah. On the contrary, the day that is called ‘Yom haBikurim’ is Shavuot, as we saw above. Finally, I will share the meaning of this word. Bikurim is the plural of the word bikur, which is literally “first,” related to organic elements such as animals, fruits and plants. It is related to the root bakr which means “firstborn.” In Egypt, for example, the tenth plague was called makat haBechorot, “plague of the firstborn.” As expressed biblically, the first “fruit of the womb” of a woman is linguistically related to the first fruits of the earth.

A turd named Ben Daniel used Facebook to threaten a group of turtle riders today. It didn't go well for him, and Uncle Turtleboy has a strong message for him. Hope he listens. Talcum X used his platform to tell a blatant lie about a Texas cop raping a black woman he had pulled over. Yet he's still blue checkmarked verified on Facebook and Twitter, even though he's intentionally spreading fake news. Facebook's lawyers are holding the line with Turtleboy, making up some insane lies, and we're going to make them pay.

On 10 June 2011, the LDS Church released an official statement on immigration that calls for Latter-day Saints and others to honor families and treat each other, foremost, as children of God while at the same time calling for the federal government to provide strong border security and discouraging its own members from entering any country illegally. The statement also expresses strong concern for the nearly twelve million people who are already in the United States illegally, urging lawmakers and citizens to strive to keep families together and work toward these people being able to "square themselves with the law and continue to work without this necessarily leading to citizenship." Official statements call for robust discussion, and this episode tries to provide just that through engaging not only the statement but also the human face of this issue and marriage of religion and politics that is often so prevalent in policy debates related to this issue. And it even ends with the episode’s panelists--Brent Beal, a business professor in Texas who for many years has served in LDS branches containing many undocumented church members, Ben Daniel, a Presbyterian minister in northern California who likewise ministers to many people here illegally and who recently wrote a book, Neighbor: Christian Encounters with "Illegal" Immigration, and Mark Alvarez, a Salt Lake City attorney, radio host, and advocate for smart immigration reform--sharing their ideas for better discussions and improved policies.
