The Second Part in our Gadgets for Survival Trilogy While the MCU may be down now (DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE was a celebration of the Fox Marvel universe!) we decide that appearing on TRILOGY IN THEORY for... years (?) may just be the ticket to get them back on top. But what does the Marvel Cinematic Universe look like in a shared universe with all that cinema has to offer? We shall see and hopefully you will listen as we kick off this series of discussions with IRON MAN! What could go wrong with a film from the auteur behind MADE and CHEF?? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. On today's show, we discuss the newest film set in the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and potentially the final film in Fox-Marvel timeline?), 2024's 'DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE'! We begin with a NON-SPOILER review of the film (check the chapters of your podcast player), but then we delve into SPOILERS as we discuss details the trailers purposely left out, meta-humor jokes, the surprising cameos, whether Cassandra Nova is an interesting villain, the mixing of personalities of the title characters, annoying Deadpool fans, the Taylor Swift rumor affecting back issue comic sales, 'Dogpool', & of course...WOLVERINE'S COSTUME! Well Disney decided to mine nostalgia for engagement too so we felt compelled to review their work. Wolverine is back! Deadpool is in the MCU now! Cameos galore! A tribute to the Fox Marvel continuity! And yes, FULL SPOILERS on all of it. (When Matt recommended 'Ultimate X-Force' he OF COURSE meant 'Uncanny X-Force', but you all knew that already!)

Ever wondered if you could turn a piece of paper into a whistle? We kick off our latest episode with a fun and quirky experiment that sets the stage for a comprehensive critique of the Marvel Universe, focusing on the Fox Marvel movies. From an in-depth look at "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" to a lively discussion about the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine crossover, we cover it all. You'll get the scoop on the notorious work print leak of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" that led to over 10 million downloads – all thanks to Rupert Murdoch's slip-up.Remember the thrill and disappointment of watching "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"? We do too. Join us as we share our personal experiences of watching the film, from midnight movie screenings to the complications of downloading content back in the day. We dissect the plot, performances, and execution, highlighting Hugh Jackman's standout moments and comparing them to the more successful "Logan." Our analysis tears into the film's narrative flaws, character inconsistencies, and those infamous adamantium claws, ultimately reflecting on what could have been a much stronger movie. To wrap up, we take a critical look at Wolverine's interactions with characters like Sabretooth and Gambit, questioning the logic behind certain plot points and decisions. We break down key fight scenes, analyze Wolverine's peculiar abilities, and even dive into absurd costume choices and misguided character portrayals. Plus, we sprinkle in our thoughts on recent media hits like "Crimetastic" on YouTube and share our excitement for nostalgic upcoming films like "Bad Boys Ride or Die" and the new "Beverly Hills Cop" movie. This episode contains: Ben's "the problem" this week and Devon's going back to school. What would Devon's show be like? Kindergardner Lawyer! Steven's hanging in there for the end of Summer. When the kids are in school, that's when the stay-at-home parents get a break. Ben loves his Coinops Legends 4 on the Steam Deck. Arcade goodness. Steven is going through the Ahsoka Essentials on Disney+. Watching Ahsoka's chronological story (as opposed to airdate order) is very satisfying. Just keep talking about AI: AI-powered grocery bot suggests recipe for toxic gas, “poison bread sandwich." An AI-powered recipe bot has been made to help you use up leftovers in new recipes. What if a recipe AI was given harmful ingredients? From ammonia and bleach you get "Aromatic Water Mix". Devon joins the show in the middle of Ben's sentence. "Aromatic Water Mix" is made of ammonia and bleach, but at least it's non-alcoholic! If something is AI powered, turn up your skepticism. Ben drops the mike, but HE'S NOT DONE! Thankfully the recipe AI has been adjusted to no longer accept "invalid ingredients." Steven was one of those kids with a floppy disk of the Anarchist's Cookbook. Information isn't evil. It's what you do with it. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2023/08/ai-powered-grocery-bot-suggests-recipe-for-toxic-gas-poison-bread-sandwich/ Let's get tatted up!: Tattoo technique transfers gold nanopatterns onto live cells. Researchers have developed a way to tattoo living cells with nanowires. Flexible devices molded to curved surfaces used to be incompatible with living cells. Used to be. We're close to attaching circuits to living beings to create bionic devices and biosensors. Nearer to adjusting humans, we can use lithography to print circuits on clothing. We're closer and closer to Cyberpunk 2077 levels of bio-augmentation. What if a firearm was bio-coded to you? Would that lower child firearm deaths? If people start using bows and arrows instead of firearms, maybe they'd make that a hobby? https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2023/08/230810141018.htm Science Fiction: Happy Birthday Devon! Here's all the things you hate! How does one say the word "Hegemony?" Strange New Worlds ended the season with a horror episode, and a cliffhanger. This season's finale of Strange New Worlds felt like a Voyager cliffhanger. Welcome to Strange New Worlds, Scotty! "And does he move like a REAL Gorn?" Devon asks, unironically. It's been four years since Strange New Worlds was announced, and only 20 episodes. Wow. We really didn't cover much Secret Invasion. Wonder why? Secret Invasion should have been a Samuel L. Jackson story, should have pushed story farther. What's up with the giant statue taking over half the ocean? TELL BEN. The Eternals should have been more popular. Loki Season 2 is looking incredible. So the TVA is in Deadpool 3? Whoa. Will Deadpool 3 be the death of the Fox Marvel universe? Hugh Jackman is glad to be in the Wolverine suit, doesn't have to get as jacked for Deadpool 3. Andor production is on pause due to the strikes. Steven provides an update. Steven is so excited about Ahsoka. You should be too! Is Slayer or Dragonforce more appropriate for kids? Devon weighs in. Anakin and Ahsoka have never been in the same scene in live action yet! Will this be The Book of Ahsoka? Not all bad guys are Sith, but all Sith are bad guys. Devon's hurt about what was done to Lightyear. Post-show Patreon only: Steven gushes about Baldur's Gate 3. Ben recommends Rivals of Aether. Star Trek: Resurgence is legit. 0:22 Steven HaymamHey Sean, big fan! Just wanted to know what happened with Katherine Langford and what was her role gonna be in Avengers: Endgame.4:55 Tom DeMicheleSean, we're seeing the Russo's and Markus & McFeely being asked a lot of the same questions lately. If given the opportunity, what burning questions would you have for these four, whether it's about spoilers or process?13:33 Alex WardIn honor of Game of Thrones ending and Richard Madden's rumored casting in the Eternals, which other Game of Thrones actors would you like to see join the MCU, and as which characters?15:29 Alex WardSimilarly, are there any actors in the formerly-owned-by-Fox Marvel films that you'd like to see in the MCU, and who would you like to see them play? I'd like to see Logan's Dafne Keen involved somehow, even if it's not as X-23.17:31 Alex WardWhat would your lineup be if they made a Thunderbolts movie?21:29 Giuseppe VicarettiHey Sean and fellow Patrons. There is definitely not enough on the shows yet to give an opinion on them, but just for what we have now, if you could rate the upcoming shows from best to worst what do you think will be the result? I personally think WandaVision and Falcon&Winter Soldier will surpass the Loki Series and the Hawkeye series. But I also think they will be way too close to call in popularity to give a best out of the rest. But again, if you could rate them based on what we have right now, how would you rate them?23:09 Mookie JohnsonWhy do you think we did not get to see Bucky use his left arm in Infinity war and Endgame? Was this a budget concession? Unless I missed it, we only saw him using the machine gun in battle. Also, do you think his new arm has increased strength levels and any new tricks?25:32 Woo S! KimWith all this talk/hype of a Bucky/Sam Wilson series I want to see either a Nebula Rocket series or a Gamora Nebula series I am leaning towards the latter just because of how expensive doing the motion capture for Rocket may be, I just want to see Nebula in a Disney+ or Hulu series, Sean. What say you, Sean? 26:41 Woo S! KimWhat type of 4K Blu-ray player do you own, do you currently have a 4K Blu-ray Player that supports Dolby Vision, what is your dream 4K TV of choice? Also, you seem to have a good intuition about these types of things, being in a wheelchair only the Regal Cinemas in Las Vegas that have wheelchair IMAX seats in the middle of the cinema. My question is if my only option is seating at the very back of the cinema or one row behind the front of the cinema for AMC IMAX, which do I choose and why?4K media player with Dolby Vision: https://amzn.to/2Ht6WT84K TV with Dolby Vision: https://amzn.to/2JNFKAi29:31 Orion ZangaraHey Sean!! My apologies if you've answered this before, but at some point in the future if a Secret Wars event were to happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or in this case, multiverse), do you think this would diminish the impact of future large-scale events? In the comics after Secret Wars by Jonathan Hickman, I noticed Marvel Comics had a little bit of a slump and tended to focus more on small-scaled personal stories, not really as many large events. And when they introduced something more on the cosmic level, it felt less consequential than Secret Wars or Jonathan Hickman's Avengers run. So in the movies, it may be a little difficult to build up to something that huge again. Also, as a side note, it would be amazing to see different Battleworld movies leading up to a Secret Wars event. What do you think? Do you have any concerns about this hypothetical situation? Your podcast is so much fun to listen to and I really appreciate all what you and Paul do! I kind of feel like both of your are Marvel scholars. Thanks so much! :)33:39 Giuseppe VicarettiHow dramatic do you think the upcoming Disney+ shows will be? Will Falcon&WinterSoldier be a crime thriller, will WandaVision be a romantic comedy, etc.? Preferably that would be how I assume they will make them but could I be mistaken or do you agree?35:25 Giuseppe VicarettiMy final question for you is how many episodes do you think they will sign off on, and how many seasons do you think these shows could get? Obviously, it would be based on the popularity but I can see them giving us as many as 5 seasons each with 20 episodes at a 30-40min length. Am I way off on that estimation or do you think they could get there?39:19 James KaplanHi Sean, really enjoying the podcasts and glad to be a supporter. The last time I asked a question, it was about Captain Marvel, and I have another captain Marvel question I'd like to ask. So, there's an approximately 23-year gap between The end of Captain Marvel and when ‘Carroll first appears in Endgame, and then another five-year gap until she reappears. What I think is great about that is the amount of flexibility and it leaves marvel studios, and then they could set the story at almost any time., Or tell a story that takes place over the course of many years. My question is, is there any particular sort of story you would be interested in seeing? I would love to see a story about Carol teaming up with a grown-up Monica who is now photon, I think that would be a lot of fun. Because there's nothing to say that Carol's appearance at the beginning of endgame is the first time she has been back to earth.43:14 Jak SherlockHey Sean!Do you think the rules of time travel in the MCU that were established in End Game have any impact on our chances of seeing Kang the Conqueror? And if we do see him, given Kang's comic book origin, do you think the MCU's time travel rules will have an impact on the Kang we may see in the MCU?Hope you're well man!45:36 Eric JensenHey Sean, my 7 year old son wants me to ask you what past Thor will use as a weapon since future Thor took Mjolnir into the future with him.46:17 Mike GonyeaHey Sean! Wanted to hear your thoughts about the Kevin Feige AMA he held on Twitter/Reddit. Someone asked him if the Mandarin and the 10 rings could make a return to the MCU, he simply replied 'yes'. Do you think that would be something we could see in a Disney+ series or would there be a movie that would make sense to have them in? Thank you for your time!48:15 Mike GonyeaQuick question for you Sean. It seemed to me that the rules of the Gauntlet changed slightly from Infinity War to Endgame. This is in regards to how the stones effect the user. Thanos was able to wear the Gauntlet without being harmed and when he did the first snap, this is when his arm was burned from the stones. When Hulk put Tony's Gauntlet on his arm immediately starts to burn up from the stones, before he does his snap. Can we chalk this up to visual storytelling? Or would this be a physiological difference between Thanos compared to other beings that try to use the Gauntlet/Stones? Have a good day man!50:53 Jeremy WatsonHey Sean. Do you think that the special features on the Endgame home release will contain the multiple hours of deleted/alternate scenes? If not, do you think Disney will/could release a special dvd that includes all the additional content from Endgame, Infinity War, etc.? Thanks52:23 Brett HeierHi Sean, in infinity war, scarlet witch can only destroy the mind stone because her powers had the same energy signature as the stone. Does this mean that captain marvel could destroy the space stone? Also, if there were, say, 2 power stones in the same room, could one destroy the other? And, in endgame, Wanda says that both nat and vision know that they won, but would Vision really know? He's last moment alive was spent being choked while thanos ripped the final stone from his head. I also saw a article that claimed that Wanda was really talking about 2018 gamora (I don't think this is true). Even if she was talking about gamora, would that be true either? Her last moments were spent being thrown off a cliff, knowing that her father was collecting yet another stone. Finally, do you think we will ever see the fifth member of the black order, aka supergiant? Anyway, thanks for all the that work you do! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Sean answers your Marvel questions!0:30 Brett HeierWhat are your top three favorite marvel cinematic universe characters? What are your top three marvel comics characters? Also, have you seen sorry for your loss? It's Elisabeth Olsen's show and it's really good.3:03 Woo S! KimNo matter what the results are and what the fallout of “Avengers: End Game” the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be very different regardless of who lives and who dies. Even without Fantastic Four and X-Men potentially coming home the MCU by the end of this year hopefully; the MCU isn't going to look the same nor is it going to feel the same as the universe that began in 2008. Lastly, I think coincidentally this is the best time for Marvel's First Family and Mutants to be introduced to further the point that the MCU that hardcore geeks and casual audiences knew after Thanos won't entirely remain, what say you, Sean?6:54 Woo S! KimI mentioned on an earlier Q&A a few weeks back how Marvel is reintroducing the Fantastic Four in a comics standpoint, could Marvel Television and or FOX quietly ending/wrapping up “The Gifted” and “Legion” just be both companies readying themselves for the merger because to be fair much like the Netflix series and the Hulu, they take place in the MCU but adjacently and from what I hear these FOX Marvel shows are kind the same when it comes to X-Men so whether the merger goes through or not creatively these FOX Marvel shows could conceivably go a couple more seasons, what are your thoughts Sean?9:20 Woo S! KimSean may you please take a moment and explain what the differences are between IMAX with laser and IMAX without laser?12:45 Mookie JohnsonIn your opinion, did the Avengers Superbowl trailer end with Cap grabbing his old shield, the new shield referenced in Homecoming, or a new shield forged in Wakanda since they have plenty of vibranium to remake his shield?14:40 Derek BeebeDid you see Glass, and if so, what did you think of it? Particularly the third act. (He said vaguely, to avoid spoiling anyone).14:48 Derek BeebeWhen the Disney/Fox deal is finally a done deal, will you and Paul grace us with an episode about Fant-Four-Stick?16:53 Derek BeebeWhat did you think the FOX TV movies of Generation X (1996) and Nick Fury (1998)? 17:27 Derek BeebeAre you watching The Gifted? I'm afraid it never grabbed me and I dropped it after the first season.18:05 Robert ReinekeSean, would you care to play Vegas oddsmaker? Please provide a percentage chance of winning for the following Oscar contenders. Avengers: Infinity War to win Best Visual Effects. Black Panther to win Best Production Design. Black Panther to win Best Sound Editing. Black Panther to win Best Sound Mixing. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to win Best Animated Feature. Black Panther to win Best Original Score. All the Stars from Black Panther to win Best Original Score. Black Panther to win Best Costume Design. And, Black Panther to win Best Picture.32:07 Alex WardThis is a tricky one, but aside from what we've already seen, what are five moments you think are most likely to happen in Endgame? Professor Hulk, Cap dying, etc. (And feel free to tiptoe around things you're more knowledgeable about due to leaks)38:54 Alex WardAre you a fan of Yorgos Lanthimos at all? If so, do you think there's any place for him in the MCU? Maybe a super awkward Fantastic Four movie?39:22 AlexWhat do you think of the recent casting of Harry Lloyd as Charles Xavier for the last season of Legion? Do you think its kind of strange to have two live-action versions of the same iconic character for television and film existing concurrently with each other? Last time I can recall this being a thing was the case with Smallvile and Superman Returns where Brandon Routh was playing the Last Son Of Krypton on film at the same time Tom Welling was playing a different version on television. Its kind of odd to me. especially considering both the third season of Legion and Dark Phoenix come out this year in June. prior to this news, I was under the impression there was an X -embargo(similar to the Bat-embargo) which prohibited the use of A-list X-men characters like Wolverine for the television show but now with the casting of the third live-action Professor X before even the MCU has had the chance to touch the character I wonder what happened behind-the-scenes.41:12 Nolan WildeHi Sean. I'd been considering this and the TV spot may have confirmed it but I'm not sure the World knows the whole story of the snap. The events of Infinity War happened very quickly and it didn't seem the Avengers informed anyone what was happening.Do you think there will be consequences as this is partly why the Sokovia accords were brought in and if the World finds out that the Avengers chose to act alone maybe it's possible they have been outcast?44:22 Mookie JohnsonIf the Doctor Strange movie with Nightmare does well, do you think that creates an opportunity for Blade to return to the big screen?45:11 David RosenHey Sean and Friends, hope all is well! Do you think that End Game will set up any of the Disney+ limited series? Do you think the movie will make it clear that some of the characters' stories will continue on? Also on the subject of the limited series, I believe I read just today (Tuesday) that Chris Evans might be getting a chance to sit in the director's chair for one or several limited series episodes. My first guess was that it would most likely be for the Sam and Bucky series. Perhaps maybe this is what was meant by one of the Russo bros when he “We haven't seen the last of Chris Evans.” What do you think about this news/rumor and what do you director Chris Evans could bring to an episode of the “Sam and Bucky Show” that maybe other directors couldn't?48:23 David RosenHey Sean, You did a great job with the shot by shot breakdown of the End Game superbowl spot! You talked a lot about the imagine, but didn't really say anything about the voiceover from Cap. What does his line, “Some people move on. But not us.” tell you about his/the team's mentality in this movie? What do you think “moving on” is referring to? The fact that hat they lost the battle with Thanos? That their loved ones are gone? That they're in a “new world”? Something else? Do you see this line as proof that the Avengers are likely going to be the aggressors in this movie?50:48 David RosenI think I had a little bit of a different interpretation about the shot of Liberty Island and all the boats around it, than I think you did. What I gathered was that with half the population (and perhaps more from collateral damage) gone, society in New York likely broke down and is in a state of anarchy and chaos and a number of people decided to “move” to Liberty Island and take refuge there, away from some of the chaos that might be occurring in the city. What do you think about this? Is that shot meant to suggest more than just what we are shown, that perhaps society is in a state of complete disarray, or just that a large number of boats, without captains, managed to float and get stuck at the island?53:02 Jeremy EdenA couple Christmases ago, my brother got me a copy of Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which I really enjoyed. It was a fun mashup of two universes I've always loved. We've seen some other strange universe crossovers in comic books before (JLA/Power Rangers, X-Men/Star Trek, DC/Looney Tunes, etc.) Apart from a straight up MCU/DC crossover, which bizarre universe mashup (either real or one you make up) would you like to see make its way into the MCU, keeping in mind that nobody is REALLY asking for these to happen?54:38 David RosenSo I realized after rewatching the first End Game trailer that the Avengers compound seems to be lying right flush on a large body of water. As far as I know, aside from maybe a few lakes and the Hudson River, upstate New York doesn't really have any large bodies of water. I went back to watch the “training” scene in Antman, where they show the overhead exterior shot of the compound, and it didn't seem like the compound was sitting on any large body of water, and actually also looked entirely different from the one in the End Game trailer. I know that sometimes designs change between movies, but this seemed like a pretty big change. Ever since the first trailer premiered, one of the thoughts I had regarding Scott was that after getting out of the quantum realm, being in San Francisco, he would have had to then make a cross country drive in his van to the Avengers compound, perhaps even knot fully knowing where it is. But a west coast compound that is public knowledge might alleviate this problem. Do you think this might actually be a different Avengers compound that we're being shown in the trailer, perhaps one on the West Coast, setting up a West Coast Avengers?57:33 Seth GoslinSean, with the upcoming Black Widow film taking place before Avengers, would you like it to take place before she joined SHIELD or after? Would you prefer it to expand on an event previously referenced like Budapest or when Clint spared her or her encounter with the Winter Soldier, or would you like it to be outside of any previous references?59:37 David RosenHey Sean, I just saw the article you posted about the failed pilot order for a Marvel Television all female TV series. This was the first I heard about this, but did you hear about this previously? Do you think this was the attempt at doing something with an all female cast that we've kept hearing and speculating about? If not, what do you think this non-order means, if anything, for future prospects of getting any kind of all female production?1:03:24 AlexIn addition to confirming once again that subsequent Deadpool films will retain the R-rating Bob Iger pointed out that other Disney films may potentially carry the R-rating in the future. This tidbit of information got my little noggin thinking: do you think Marvel will eventually do a R-rated film besides The-Merc-With-The-Mouth or do you think they'll only strictly do PG-13 films with Deadpool being the lone exception to the rule? And keep up the good work, man. You're doing a darn fine job.1:09:19 Michael Louis WeaselboyHey Sean I was just wondering who do you think will be the villain for Spiderman 3? And when do you think it will be released?1:12:18 AlexWe know that Star Wars exists in the MCU as a fictional property within the universe but how does nobody ever point out Nick Fury's uncanny resemblance to Mace Windu— who like Fury is played by Samuel motherf'ing Jackson? Does that mean only the original trilogy and sequel trilogy exist and the prequels never got made in the MCU or do you think like our world the Star Wars prequels do in fact exist and maybe Mace Windu is just played by a different actor in the MCU? Forgive me if you've received this type of question before but it just dawned on me.1:14:03 Daniel DavilaHey Sean I know I'm right on the deadline for this so I'll keep it short and sweet. Do you think the living tribunal, eternity, galactus, etc. can be major players in the mcu? Do you think they translate well to the big screen? Love your show thanks again!1:15:53 Brian WhiteHi Sean. I would like you to expand your thoughts and comments on the idea of a Young Avengers or Champions movie. As any of us long time comic readers know, the movies have taken their liberties even while giving homage to the original material and this has mostly been successful. But so far we've seen titles and characters that came from the comics even if they were presented uniquely. Your comments about how MCU Peter Parker and Shuri can form the Young Avengers or Champions , both being characters that have never been part of either suggests to me that the MCU can create original characters and teams. In Iron Man 3, Tony gifted his sidekick Harley Keener with a lot of tech. He could show up in his own version of Iron Man armor and join up too - maybe he's the Sam Alexander you've been foreseeing. Do you foresee the MCU originating characters? No doubt the comics will copy them if it does. Thanks!1:18:39 ChristofferCan you recommend some books about Marvel – the MCU in particular – and comic book history in general?1:20:18 AlexAvengers: Endgame spoiler question See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Sean answers your Marvel questions!0:38 Alex WardHey Sean! Hope all is well. I was just wondering about Goose. It is one of the sad realities of life that pets don't live as long as people. That being said, do you think it's possible Goose will be in cat heaven by the time Captain Marvel gets back to our normal timestream? Maybe that's when she'll get Chewie? Also, what are some other famous Marvel pets you'd like to see in the MCU? I think we're long overdue for a good dog or two!2:21 Alex WardWho would you cast Keanu Reeves as in the MCU? He's a pretty hit or miss actor, but when he's on, he's on--so maybe he'd be better in a smaller role? He is a dead ringer for Reed Richards visually, but I don't think he'd quite be able to pull that off.3:22 Spencer ToycenHey there Sean! What were your thoughts on Punisher season 2? It wasn't perfect, but the western angle was a smart move and I really enjoyed what we got between Frank and Amy, but I thought most of the Jigsaw felt stuff tacked on. Also I liked the parallels between John Pilgrim and Frank which I thought could've benefited from being the season's focus.6:53 Tom DeMicheleHey Sean, how would you have plussed up the first Doctor Strange film? What improvements could have prevented the common criticism that it adheres too closely to the structure of previous origin films? Perhaps—like Black Panther, Spider-Man: Homecoming and even Thor 1 to an extent—it begins with a Stephen Strange who is already semi-developed as a hero. The film's beginning could find Strange as a member of Kun Lun, where he's been training in the mystic arts for several years, with maybe a few brief flashbacks filling us in on his backstory as an arrogant New York neurosurgeon. I love the film, but I agree that it could have been more inventive structurally.11:37 AlexRest in peace Bat-fleck! Sean my question to you is what Marvel alumni be it Fox Marvel or Disney Marvel do you think would make for a good successor to Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader. For me its a tie between Lee Pace(Guardians Of The Galaxy) and Dan Stevens( Legion).13:11 AlexDo you expect Dark Phoenix to surpass Apocalypse's total box office earnings or do you think it will come just under it? Could the lack of Wolverine hurt the box office?15:38 Woo S! KimI may be alone, but one of the interesting things about Thanos' character in the MCU which his daughter points out on the ship to him in “Avengers: Infinity War” is how Cuckoo for Coco Puffs Thanos actually is, because in his mind Thanos thinks not only is he not the villain, not only does he really think he's the true Avenger, but he actually thinks he is the chosen one to right the universe's wrong, to put the universe in balance even if it means slaughtering trillions as I'm paraphrasing Doctor Strange, my point to all of this, we true believers shouldn't forget or believe that Thanos will not be that easy to stop in “Avengers: End Game?” What say you, Sean?16:44 Alex WardThis is kind of ridiculous, but I saw a theory on Reddit that Marvel Studios could barter with Sony to get live action Peter in exchange for not touching Miles, thus leaving Sony to reap all the benefits of that character's breakout popularity. Is this at all possible?18:41 Woo S! KimDoes Sony because they have a camera subsidiary company have better cameras than Disney does Sean, I have just noticed in Tom Holland's Spidey films they are just richer colors some scenes look like they were shot on 70mm even though I know they weren't, while the MCU distributed by Disney look more like they were shot on digital rather than film even though most likely they were all shot using digital cameras, do you understand what I mean here Sean or am I just seeing things?20:54 Alex WardOne more! Is it possible that Eternals won't be "cosmic" as we know it? It seems like it could be more concerned with secret societies, hollow Earth environments, and things like that, without necessarily getting into space stuff.23:26 Michael Louis WeaselboyHey Sean I know this is a Marvel podcast but I was wondering what your thoughts are on Ben Affleck leaving the Batman role in the DCEU?? I will miss him I really liked his take on Batman but I am excited to see a new version of the character.31:44 Bill Van NormanHey Sean - another question for the weekend Q&A - do you think there is any chance that Disney will want to bring Marvel Entertainment - especially the Television division under the oversite of Marvel Studios / Kevin Feige? The MCU has been more successful than Marvel TV properties. With the Marvel Studios putting content on Disney + maybe that is the first step in the direction. Also, this could be a way to give some others in Feige's team a more prominent role as was discussed in the last Q&A (I think). I realize that they just pealed off Marvel Studios from Marvel Entertainment 4 years ago but could we see another reorganization in the near future with the TV division or the Animation group? This might be important also with the Fox controlled characters coming home. What do you think Sean?37:29 MayaGiven Shuri will be running the new Wakandan education center in Oakland, do you think she will be launching the West Coast Avengers during Black Panther 2 or potentially before? Given the whole Antman squad is in the Bay, this could be a cool team up, especially with an older Cassie Lang potentially taking on Stature.43:14 Bill Van NormanI've been thinking about the suggestion by a few people that maybe Nick Fury is a Skrull in Spider-Man Far From Home. I'm not sure about that but it occurred to me that possibly the architect(s) or people behind the scenes that developed the Sokovia Accords and registration act - Ross or Talbot maybe - were Skrulls. The strategy could be that they wanted to weaken the Avengers for their own aims or may have been working for Thanos. This is would be a classic divide and conquer approach. If This is true it could certainly impact what happens in Avengers Endgame and how the heroes work to fix things. It could lead to changing the timeline earlier than we have speculated - so pre-snap and could lead to the return of people we thought were dead and gone at this point e.g. Quicksilver. It could also set up a one movie treatment of the Skrull Secret Invasion storyline. This could be the crisis the all-female team or another team-up group deals with in the near future. Sean answers your Marvel questions!0:31 bryan smithHey Sean hope your having a good start to the new year . My question is , do you think it's possible ultron built a fail safe in vision like in the comics ? It would be could if somewhere down the line vision is taking over by ultron when the avengers lest expect it.2:53 Hector Giovanni NavarreteHey Sean! The Discord is awesome btw, I'm enjoying it.I asked a while ago what your favorite moment for each Avenger member was; what is some of your favorite villain moments in the MCU? Top 5 maybe?14:44 Chris FHey Sean. Thanks for setting up the discord. Absolutely loving it on there. 2 questions today: 1) With theatres now offering passes to view unlimited movies for a monthly fee how does that effect the box office totals? For example I have an Alamo Drafthouse season pass that I pay $20 a month for and I could technically see captain marvel every day if i wanted to and still only pay my $20.20:25 Chris FQuestion two: I know you spend allot of time creating podcasts and content, but what podcasts if any do you listen to for enjoyment in your free time? And what to you makes a great podcast? Thanks again for everything and have a great week!26:22 Michael Louis WeaselboyHey Sean hope your week is going good, I really enjoy listening to these podcasts you do it makes my workday go by faster. Anyways my question is who do you think will be the villain for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?? I know Adam Warlock was going to play some kind of role but he is more of a hero, so who do you think it will be?? Assuming of course the movie is made.28:16 Paul ShearmanHey Sean and patrons, hope you're all well. I've been reading and enjoying all the discord chats going on, I haven't posted yet but I'm enjoying the conversations. So, the Captain Marvel Special Look was excellent, and I'm so excited for this movie. Once again, Marvel Studios are doing a great job of keeping the focus on this movie and away from Endgame, which is absolutely as it should be.I've noticed a slight gear change in the tone of the teasers as they've dropped in turn, and we've started seeing the fun and charming side of Carol Danvers starting to emerge.Do you think this was the intention from Marvel Studios - to build up the trailers this way - and that is hasn't just been as a reaction to criticisms about the lack of humour and emotion from Brie Larson in the initial teaser. I'm sure Marvel Studios wouldn't feel the need to ‘pander' to criticism , and would be resolute in their beliefs for the best way to promote what I think will be a fantastic movie, but I'm keen to hear what you think Sean. Thanks for your time as always, enjoy the rest of your week and catch you all at discord!33:58 Michael bradleyHello Sean, hope your week is going well. Just caught the new Captain Marvel trailer and thought is was great. Do you think the people who say it doesn't show anything would criticize it if it showed too much?34:57 AlexWhich Fox Marvel character do you think will most likely make an appearance first in the MCU? And if you had your druthers which Fox Marvel character would you have make an appearance first? For me, I think the Fox character that will most likely appear in the MCU first will be Norrin Radd (a.k.a The Silver Surfer) in a post-credit scene for the Eternals and the Fox character I most want to appear in the MCU first is either Doctor Doom or Wolverine.37:25 AlexWhich Fox-Marvel character are you least excited about Marvel getting the rights back to? For me its the Merc-With-the-Mouth himself. Not a big fan. Unlike serious characters like Fantastic Four & the X-Men I really don't see a mostly comedic character like Wade Wilson adding much to Feige's universe besides a potential F-bomb here and there. I gotta be honest Sean, I'd rather Marvel not touch Deadpool at all. What's your thoughts?39:51 Woo S! KimI have been attempting to keep this quiet just because I did not have the time nor did I want the internet to jump all over me with this question, I would be lying to say I was not disappointed that “Black Panther” not did win a Best Picture Golden Globe on January the 6th, but I have to say and this is not a knock on the cast and or the crew of “Bohemian Rhapsody” but I would not feel as disappointed if “A Star is Born” won. My point is, Sean do you agree that “Bohemian Rhapsody” was not the Best Picture Drama of The Year, why or why not?44:00 Woo S! KimI thought as did you, on the January 7th “Daily Bugle,” it was a classy response what Kevin Feige told MTV News, about James Gunn and his potential future with the DCEU, I have a new level of respect for Feige because I have not spoken about this in awhile, no matter where one stands on the termination of James Gunn in 2018, that whole situation was so moronic and so unnecessary on a lot of different levels and I do a pretty good job of reading people as do you, Sean, I believe Feige truly wishes James Gunn the best and wishes circumstances could be different. I also find it ironic that Feige's words almost echoed yours when it came to all of the Marvel characters that Marvel Studios gets to play with in their metaphorical sandbox, who knows maybe they have a couple real ones in the offices, but from what I can tell from Feige's face is that the reason he is sticking around is that I think he realizes he has a dream job and I like you, wouldn't blame him, if I wanted to go revive the Stark Trek film franchise, if he wanted too or anything else. However, from how passionate his tone of voice was when he talked about being in and around Marvel Studios for two decades and I just get the sense that Feige feels his work with Marvel Studios is not done until he finally does get majority producing control over the X-Men characters and Marvel's First Family and their characters, also dare I say bringing Spidery 110% home to Marvel, am I reading too much into this Sean or do you concur with me?48:41 Tom DeMicheleHey Sean, I noticed you didn't comment on the supposed “retcon” that the Mind Stone amplified Loki's hatred. I personally don't think this information is a big deal, as it's implied that the Scepter has a similar effect on the Avengers during their argument in the Hellicarrier lab. I'm glad you didn't deem this worthy of an article, but just for the hell of it, what do you make of this info and the internet's reaction to it?54:12 Brett HeierHi Sean! In one of the new marvel encyclopedia books, they say that Loki's scepter didn't give Wanda and Pietro their powers, but it awakened something inside them. Do you think this is a way to retcon Wanda and Pietro's backstory to make them mutants? Also, is Wanda a mutant in the comics? Or is she just a witch? Finally, do you think that Quicksilver will ever come back? As always, thanks for having two great podcasts, marvel and Star Wars.56:55 Seth GoslinHi Sean! I was watching the new Captain Marvel footage and it got me thinking. It seems like we've spent time and speculation on why wouldn't Nick Fury have reached out to Captain Marvel before in the face of other threats to earth. This line of thinking says that Carol doesn't know what's happening on earth. But what if Nick has been reaching out to her, consulting with her and keeping her updated? He had very little time to respond to the events of infinity war but it seems like he would have time in at least some of the previous situations. Nick says that Carol is just the beginning. Maybe they've been mutually putting trust in the emerging heroes. Nick doesn't seem like the type to cry wolf anyway. What do you think about the idea that Carol has been in touch with the happenings on Earth?59:15 Alex WardHi Sean! I had to rescind some of my originally planned questions because I think I may have spoiled myself to the point that I may know too much now. The spoilers I stumbled across online could easily be fake, but I don't wanna risk it. However, these questions should be pretty safe and have nothing to do with whatever probably-fake spoilers I read:1) Do you think Carol will actually use the name "Captain Marvel" in the movie? I know movies can be a bit tepid around superhero names sometimes, especially more general ones like "Captain Marvel."1:01:06 Alex Ward2) (I know I've brought this up before, but it was within the context of a comment rather than a direct question; feel free to skip this one if you want/need to!) I know fans like us are used to it, but do you think Marvel Studios will acknowledge the fact, either in the film or during press, that "Marvel" is both part of the title of the movie, and the name of the company itself? It must be at least somewhat intriguing to a general audience, almost as if Warner Bros put out a movie called "The Warner Brothers."1:02:28 Alex Ward3) Is there any chance Mar-Vell isn't in this movie at all?1:03:43 Hector Giovanni NavarreteFavorite Spider-Man moment (not necessarily a SM the character moment) in each SM film?
