As per the news agency PTI, Ghosh may also be subjected to a polygraph test. An official said that they want to further verify Ghosh's answers, as there have been discrepancies in some of the replies. Meanwhile, healthcare services remain affected at state-run hospitals in West Bengal, as junior doctors continued their strike for the 13th consecutive day. Senior doctors were asked to report to duty in place of junior medics at several hospitals.The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) called for a “Maharashtra bandh” on August 24 to protest against the alleged sexual assault on two young girls at a school in Badlapur. Vijay Wadettiwar, leader of opposition in the state assembly said that MVA allies – Congress, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) headed by Sharad Pawar – took the decision after a meeting in Mumbai. Meanwhile, a local court extended till August 26 the police custody of the man arrested for allegedly sexually abusing two girls at a school in Badlapur.Amid a nationwide strike called by Dalit and Adivasi groups against the Supreme Court's decision to permit the sub-classification of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), police lathicharged protesters in Bihar's Patna, news agency ANI. As many as twenty one organisations have called for Bharat Bandh against the SC order. Left parties, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Bahujan Samajwadi Party have extended support to the nationwide bandh. While protests were seen across cities in Bihar, the Bandh saw mixed responses in Rajasthan and Jharkhand. In Odisha, road and rail services were partially affected due to the protests, news agency PTI reported.Ahead of the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Ukraine, Narendra Modi today said that India hoped for an early return of peace and stability in the region as a “friend and partner”. Modi is headed to Poland today, and then to Ukraine on August 23. This also marks the first-ever visit by an Indian PM to Poland in 45 years. In his departure statment, Modi expressed confidence that “the visit will serve as a natural continuation of extensive contacts with the two countries and help create the foundation for stronger and more vibrant relations in the years ahead”.A bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims overturned in central Iran, killing 28 passengers and injuring another 23 people, state media reported today.The accident took place late on Tuesday in the central Iranian province of Yazd and was caused by a technical defect in the bus braking system, according to preliminary investigations made by the Iranian traffic police. This week, host Basant Kumar is joined by Newslaundry's Nidhi Suresh and independent journalist Anand Dutt.Anand starts with his BBC Hindi report on a ration crisis in Jharkhand, where people have to travel 30 km to reach ration distribution centres. “Mobile networks play an important role in this distribution,” he says, “as sometimes, the dealer can't give rations because the machine doesn't administer a recipient's fingerprint because of bad network. And then, they are asked to come again later.”He also describes undeveloped Adivasi areas in Jharkhand, where basic amenities and facilities are lacking. Nidhi talks about her experience reporting on the farmer protest at Singhu on the day of the Bharat Bandh, and how it was so different from the early days of the protest. She mentions a pattern of using barricades as a political tool and what the farmers had to say about the mainstream media. It's been some time since we saw a #BharatBandh at this scale. The #KisanAndolan had done what no political party has been able to do in the recent part - put the Govt. on the back foot & bring it to the negotiating table....with Amit Shah personally meeting the farmers. So are the farmers still the poor 'misguided' folks - or is it we the 'educated' city dwellers who have been misguided for so long that we cannot be the rampant petrol loot, the sinking economy, the vanishing jobs ???? Hello everyone, welcome back and our very first SzG of 2019! We're very excited to begin the year and close out last year doing what we love, bullshitting with the best of them. With it being the new year and our first podcast of the year that means it's time to do our Year in Review!!! (read to the tune of Pigs in Space). Bat and I saw different movies in the theaters, which him seeing Bumblebee and my seeing Mary Poppins Returns. So we will stick to our spoiler free reviews along with doing our streaming review of Mowgli and our Podquestion of which Disney animated movie do you Not want to see get the remake treatment. This week we watched the fan suggestion of Mowgli: The Legend of the Jungle on Netflix. Well, how about that? We're both pleasantly surprised by this latest Andy Serkis telling of Jungle Book. While we were both noticeable hesitant with wanting to watch this movie due to the numerous retelling that we've already seen. This one actually did something different, it told a story that felt new and was more fleshed out than it's previous brethren. We are provided with an actual story focused on Mowgli rather than having him just be another pawn in play for the other characters. As with other Serkis movies, the motion capture goes a decent way of making these CGI creatures feel more alive and real. Again, this IS another telling of Jungle Book but just like we said in Bat's review of Bumblebee it shows what some properties can be when handled by different people with different perspectives. Thanks Kristi, again, for delivering another good streaming recommendation.

However, the attack on the school bus has irked several people, including Farhan, who on Thursday morning took to Twitter to call out the protesters. "Attacking a school bus is not an agitation. It is terrorism. The people who did it are terrorists," Farhan tweeted.
