After surviving their first encounter with the deadly Taskmaster, the Iron Brigade follows the trail of the missing mercenaries deeper into the mystery. Their investigation leads them to an unusual destination: a massive convention attended by mercenaries, bounty hunters, and hired guns from across the globe. Tasked by Deadpool with gathering intel, the team spreads out among the crowded booths and colorful attendees, searching for answers. As rumors and secrets begin to surface, one name keeps appearing: Jake Paul Van Wham. The eccentric promoter is preparing to host a brutal event known as Bloodbath in the lawless island nation of Madripoor. Believing the tournament may be connected to the disappearances, the Iron Brigade secures invitations and sets their sights on Southeast Asia. With more questions than answers, the team heads toward Madripoor, unaware of the dangers waiting for them inside Bloodbath. This week we dissect ColdCard's ~$100M RNG exploit that Claude Code cracked in 8 minutes, debate whether AI just killed open-source security and Bitcoin maximalism, tear apart Ethereum's EIP-8361 staking-yield taper, and unpack Leopold Aschenbrenner's 67% Situational Awareness blowup and CLARITY Act's ethics fight. Welcome to The Chopping Block – where crypto insiders Haseeb Qureshi, Tom Schmidt, Tarun Chitra, and Robert Leshner chop it up about the latest in crypto. No guest this week, just the four of them working through a week where AI quietly rewrote the economics of both security and human psychology, and crypto happened to be standing in the blast radius. This episode: ColdCard, NVK's Bitcoin-only hardware wallet, got drained of nearly $100M thanks to a random-number-generation bug that a one-word commit buried five years ago, and Claude Code sniffed it out in 8 minutes (an open model with no internet found it in 20, for about two bucks). The crew debates whether AI just killed open-source security, whether Nic Carter is right that this is 'the death of Bitcoin maximalism,' and why Tarun thinks maxi devs are 'the RFK of security practices.' Then they take a blowtorch to Ethereum's EIP-8361 staking-yield taper (Tarun: 'the proposal reads like shit'), unpack Leopold Aschenbrenner's 67% Situational Awareness blowup while 4x levered, and wade into the CLARITY Act's ethics fight where a single amendment is the whole ballgame. The Mets' massive sell-off delivers the final blow to one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history. Evan Roberts, Tiki Barber and Shaun Morash revisit their wildly inaccurate trade predictions, assess the prospect haul and explain why moving the expiring contracts made sense. The one deal Evan still cannot fully accept is Luke Weaver, a dependable reliever who could have helped a bullpen that must be rebuilt next season.

Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber break down the massive sell-off, why moving the expiring contracts made sense and why the Luke Weaver trade remains the most troubling decision. With the bullpen gutted, Evan proposes an unexpected new role for Kodai Senga while questioning whether David Stearns can turn a collection of lottery-ticket prospects into a quick turnaround.

The cost of living is to be the defining mission of his premiership - announcing a cut to VAT on energy bills as his first major policy and a scrapping of Starmer's digital ID scheme to pay for it. But Former Chief Secretary to Starmer, Darren Jones, was quick to point out that the scheme itself was unfunded, highlighting the tough choices to come for Burnham's new Chancellor John Healey.Does his intervention speak to a wider disgruntlement among Starmer's allies? And is Burnham off to a good start? The evidence is becoming increasingly clear. Chy-nah has been involved in American elections. Some of their frauds had assistance and involve Chy-nah messing with our voter roles. It's all a left training ground for targeting elections. Where are the convincing masses now. Very few know this is all foreign funded. People were duped. Integrating strategies for neighborhood treason. Grey money comes in thru grants. People don't do their homework. The machines are foreign made. Chips, boards, modems and components. The off-the-shelf trap. The left plans for faster, leaner 501C3 activist groups. They refer to losing as election sabotage. When fraud is exposed it's called election denial. 500 thousand leftists recruited to swamp election observing. Deep organization and detailed instruction manuals assist their game plan. Ohio serves as an example. It's a long list of election night strategies. Technology is never secure. How to burn ballots right. Strategic fires in printing facilities justify suspicious moves. The fiscal hops and jumps that funding does. Our President is surrounded by money grubbers. People need to start stepping up. Nothing has been done about corrupt voting machines, so the midterms cannot be held. This is about our country's survival.

Jeff Strand joins The Dark Mind Podcast to discuss his new novel, Fun Times at the Bloodbath. The book follows Margo, whose brother dies during the beta test of a video game so addictive that players stop eating, sleeping, and caring about anything outside the screen. When anyone tries to make them stop, the obsession turns murderously violent, and the private addiction soon threatens to become a nationwide catastrophe. In this conversation, Jeff breaks down how he built the concept around the feeling of “just one more level.”We talk about balancing dark comedy with genuine brutality, keeping the horror grounded instead of supernatural, and using the story as satire on how games are designed to keep us playing.Jeff also discusses his wider career, including Pressure, Bloodsucker County, Your Body Will Never Be Found, and his novelization of the cult classic Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. It is a fun, bloody, and surprisingly thoughtful conversation about addiction, entertainment, and what happens when we refuse to look away.JEFF STRAND LINKSOfficial Websitehttps://www.jeffstrand.comPatreonhttps://www.patreon.com/JeffStrandAmazon Author Pagehttps://www.amazon.com/author/jeffstrandBarnes & Noble Author Pagehttps://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/Jeff+StrandTwitter / Xhttps://x.com/JeffStrandInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/jeffstrandauthor/Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/JeffStrandAuthor/SUPPORT THE DARK MIND PODCASThttps://www.patreon.com/c/thedarkmindpodcast

The Tim Conway Jr. Show Hour 4 (7.6) Lou Penrose fills in for Tim Conway Jr. and the show opens with a powder keg. Newport Beach's Fourth of July detonates into full-blown chaos — riots, looting, and a TikTok takeover where every wannabe "reporter" roams the sand with a microphone in one hand and a White Claw in the other. 403 arrested. NBPD body-cam audio that's straight-up unhinged. The Newport melee deepens. Where did these kids even come from to trash the city? Word is Nevada and Arizona rolled in. Fake IDs, public intox, fireworks busts, and more jaw-dropping police body-cam. "Disheartening" — that's your SAT word of the day, straight outta USC. Talkbacks light up the lines. Callers react to the viral flash mob footage: cops on horseback charging the crowd, batons out, illegal fireworks exploding across the beach, fights erupting, people sprinting through the streets, and looting at the local Pavilions. Roman candles and police summon everyone. Then the mood shifts to the wallet. Microsoft moves to cut 4,800 jobs, joining the wave of AI-driven tech layoffs. Is AI the golden goose or is it killing the egg? Lou digs into the "good jobs" myth, the shift from "Made in USA" to "Assembled in USA," and how decades of trade policy shipped millions of manufacturing jobs overseas. Electronics, textiles, toys — nearly all made abroad now. Can the race to bring jobs back actually be won? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
