Durante la época colonial hispanoamericana, surgió un género musical llamado cielito. Era una canción patriótica danzada que estaba estrechamente vinculada con las guerras por la independencia. El siguiente cielito que cantaba a las Provincias Unidas del Río de la Plata, originalmente publicado anónimo en el folleto Día de Buenos Ayres que relataba los festejos del 13 al 15 de septiembre de 1816 en Buenos Aires con motivo de la independencia recién declarada por el Congreso de Tucumán, lleva por título: Cielito de la Independencia:1 Si de todo lo creado es el cielo lo mejor, el «cielo» ha de ser el baile de los Pueblos de la Unión. Cielo, cielito y más cielo, cielito siempre cantad que la alegría es del cielo, del cielo es la libertad. Hoy una nueva Nación en el mundo se presenta, pues las Provincias Unidas proclaman su independencia. Cielito, cielo festivo, cielo de la libertad, jurando la independencia no somos esclavos ya. Los del Río de la Plata cantan con aclamación, su libertad recobrada a esfuerzos de su valor. Cielo, cielito cantemos, cielo de la amada Patria, que con sus hijos celebra su libertad suspirada. Los constantes argentinos juran hoy con heroísmo eterna guerra al tirano, guerra eterna al despotismo. Cielo, cielito cantemos, se acabarán nuestras penas, porque ya hemos arrojado los grillos y las cadenas. Jurando la independencia tenemos obligación de ser buenos ciudadanos y consolidar la Unión. Cielito, cielo cantemos, cielito de la unidad, unidos seremos libres, sin unión no hay libertad. Todo fiel Americano hace a la Patria traición si fomenta la discordia y no propende a la Unión. Cielito, cielo cantemos, que en el cielo está la paz, y el que la busque en discordia jamás la podrá encontrar. Oprobio eterno al que tenga la depravada intención de que la Patria se vea esclava de otra nación. Cielito, cielo festivo, cielito del entusiasmo, queremos antes morir que volver a ser esclavos. ¡Viva la Patria, patriotas! ¡Viva la Patria y la Unión, viva nuestra independencia, viva la nueva Nación! Con semejantes versos, los que cantaban o declamaban este cielito no podían menos que vibrar de emoción al hacerlo e infundir aliento y avivar el fervor patriótico en los guerreros que los escuchaban prestos a luchar por la libertad en los campos de batalla. Gracias a Dios, así como aquellos héroes de nuestra independencia patria estuvieron dispuestos a morir para que no volviéramos a ser esclavos de ninguna otra nación, su Hijo Jesucristo dio su vida para que no volviéramos a ser esclavos del pecado. En un escenario de fuerte crisis de la monarquía española, que se venía desarrollando desde principio del 1800, se produjo aquel acontecimiento bisagra en la historia de nuestro país: la Revolución de Mayo, primer intento de crear un gobierno integrado por los criollos. El derrumbe del mundo monárquico abrió un nuevo camino para las colonias del Río de la Plata, que buscaron una nueva legitimidad para la vida en común, basada en los valores de la libertad, la soberanía y la igualdad. En aquel mayo de 1810, después de un tiempo de fuerte convulsión política, la autoridad española ejercida a través del virrey Baltasar Hidalgo de Cisneros fue depuesta y él, obligado a renunciar. El 25 de mayo, reunido en la Plaza de la Victoria, actual Plaza de Mayo, el pueblo de Buenos Aires finalmente impuso su voluntad al Cabildo creando la Junta Provisoria Gubernativa del Río de la Plata. Quedó así formado el primer gobierno patrio, que no tardó en desconocer la autoridad del Consejo de Regencia español y constituyó la base para la futura independencia y la fundación de nuestra Patria. Aquella Primera Junta estuvo integrada por Cornelio Saavedra (presidente); Mariano Moreno y Juan José Paso fueron sus secretarios; Manuel Alberti, Miguel de Azcuénaga, Manuel Belgrano, Juan José Castelli, Juan Larrea y Domingo Matheu, sus vocales. Malena Dayen is a versatile vocalist and exciting opera director who works a lot with new media. Recently, Malena directed the first opera in virtual reality (The Presence of Odradek with Bare Opera.) She is also a versatile vocalist who sings both “standard” operatic repertoire and, most prominently with her duo New Airs Tango, Spanish music and tango. She is also part of the vocal improvisation ensemble Moving Star based at Carnegie Hall and a collaborative artist at the Weill Music Institute, among other performance engagements. Malena and I talk about virtual reality, how technology changes singing, the magical elements of opera, and the so-far still irreplicable qualities of live performance, among other things. La industria textil es la segunda más contaminante del mundo después de la petrolera, produce el 20% de las aguas residuales y el 10% de las emisiones de carbono en el mundo, esto es más que todos los vuelos internacionales y los barcos de carga combinados. Es por eso que debemos ser conscientes de ello y moderar nuestro uso de ropa, tener bien presente que las cuatro R's aplican a todos nuestros hábitos de consumo. ¿Cuáles son las 4 R's? Reducir: consiste en rechazar los distintos tipos de envases o empaquetados cuando éstos no cumplan una función imprescindible para su conservación, traslado o consumo. Deberíamos ser particularmente cuidadosos con los productos de usar y tirar. Por ejemplo, utilizar servilletas y pañuelos de tela en lugar de los fabricados con papel, ir a las compras con un carrito, prescindiendo de las bolsas de plástico de un solo uso. Reutilizar: antes de desechar cualquier producto debemos sacarle todo el partido posible. Los envases de vidrio los podemos reutilizar una vez lavados, las bolsas de la compra las podemos usar para la basura. Reciclar: la mayoría de los materiales de los que están hechos los productos que utilizamos en el hogar son reciclables. Una vez que los hayamos usado, deberíamos devolverlos al ciclo productivo para que, después de un tratamiento, puedan incorporarse de nuevo al mercado, reduciéndose así el consumo de materias primas y de energía. Recuperar: Se basa en la utilización del residuo generado en otro proceso distinto del que lo ha producido, este se podrá introducir en el nuevo proceso directamente o mediante algún tratamiento previo. El proyecto de Julieta y Magda, tiene mucho que ver con estas 4 R's, ya que tienen una tienda que se basa en esos principios. ¿Cómo funciona? Básicamente es una “Consigment Shop”, Tienda Cielito acepta objetos para vender y acuerda pagar al vendedor un porcentaje si los bienes se venden. Los productos que comúnmente se venden a consignación, así es que ellas nombran “socias” a las personas que les llevan sus objetos los cuales, comentan, son de primera calidad, es decir, no es cualquier tiendita de “segunda mano”, sino que se preocupan por que sus prendas cubran ciertos estándares. Este tipo de tiendas, son muy comunes en grandes ciudades, como Nueva York, ciudad en donde Julieta vivió durante muchos años. Además del tema medio ambiente, para la comunidad en general, la tienda Cielito resuelve varios problemas comunes en casa, como por ejemplo la acumulación de objetos, de ropa comprada en ofertas que nunca te pusiste, zapatos en buen estado que solo usaste un par de veces, cuadros que ya no te gustan, en fin, esto puede generarnos dinero que hoy por hoy está estancado.
