I really enjoy seeing teams or people do things that haven't been done before especially in the basketball world and that's exactly what happened at Concordia St. Paul this season with the Golden Bears men's basketball team and Coach Matt Fletcher. For the first time in school history the Golden Bears finished atop the NSIC conference in men's basketball, in fact it was the first time in their programs history that they finished above 3rd place. Led by all world guard Antwan Kimmons and Marcus Skeete the Golden Bears also advanced to the division 2 national tournament. Coach Fletcher shares what went into the success this season at a place he calls a “dream job”.

Reverend Dr. Rob Kasper joins us to share his 41-year odyssey through ordained ministry and how his experiences have shaped his insights into leadership within the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). Listen as he unwraps his journey from the waters of baptism in Wisconsin, through academia at Concordia-St. Paul, to his influential role in the Michigan district, where he's pioneering methods such as deacon training and alternative seminary education pathways, all while leveraging the Kairos platform to revolutionize learning.Parenting is no small feat, and doing so within the tapestry of faith adds layers of complexity and grace. In our heart-to-heart with Rob, he sheds light on the dual joys and trials of raising children with special needs, emphasizing the support that Christian education and community can provide. This episode isn't just about parenting, though—it's a deep look at the essence of leadership in the church, where humility and self-awareness play starring roles. We uncover the importance of a supportive network, not just for pastors' families, but extending to every family nurtured within a faith-based community. Our conversation with Reverend Kasper takes a visionary turn as we explore the LCMS's approach to addressing pastoral vacancies and fostering new church communities. It's a candid look at the challenges and proactive strategies that are shaping the future of the church. We also consider the legacy the LCMS aspires to leave—one marked by a fierce commitment to theology, diversity, and global impact. If you're curious about what it takes to nurture leaders at all levels of the church and equip laypeople to play a vital role in its mission, then this episode is an essential listen.JOIN OUR NEW ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM!ENTER CODE - 75ULC2023 for 75% off! Lindsey Becher has a lengthy list of milestones in basketball. She holds the all-time scoring record at Mounds View High School, men or women. In her first year at Concordia University, Lindsey was named NSIC South Division Freshman of the Year and set a single-season school record in blocks (based on average). Last season, she finished third in all of Division II in blocks and became the first player in Concordia history to earn over 10 blocks in a game. Simply put, Lindsey was balling, but her college career was obstructed by mental health struggles. She was prepared to step away from the game to take care of herself, but after a period of reflection, she decided to return for her junior season. In this conversation, Lindsey opens up about her mental health journey, her remedies whenever a sense of anxiety or dread creeps in, and how this experience has made her stronger as she moves forward. We also talk some basketball, including a few people who give Lindsey inspiration. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tsbtelevision/support

We've been working hard making a new TV show called THE DRAGON WAY…and you may not have seen it yet, but it's pretty interesting to hear Coach Laqua and his players and coaches discuss stories from some of their greatest games of the past decade. We had Coach Laqua, assistant coaches Wade Youngblom and Abe Roehrich who were both players at the time, as well as alumni Adam Jiskra and the man who made that catch, Cory Ambrose were are our guests this week on the show…which airs this Tuesday at 6:30pm on WDAY XTRA and on the Dragons Digital Network. Nugget Of the Day: “The limiting factor is not resources, for they are plentiful, but knowledge, which is scarce” This quote leads us into our guest Jordan Nieuwsma! Jordan is currently a sports performance coach at Elon University and has spent time at the University of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Concordia St.Paul as well as other spots. I found Jordan through a power point that was sent to me on a NSCA conference talk he gave on “Sports Movement through the eyes of an athlete” which does an amazing job of breaking down the sport and questioning if what a lot of traditional weight room programs is doing are correct. Today we tried to dive deep into the world of the constraints led approach, small sided games and how to bridge the gap between the weight room and what is actually going on, on the field. Jordan talked alot about some of his small sided games and he has a ton of examples on his Youtube which can be found here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYfwPuzm4RkKiz0TD-TGLwA Let me know if you have any feedback and what you want covered in the next podcast! Doogie kicks off the show with Bobby Marks on Tyus Jones' offer sheet; NHL agent Ben Hankinson on Da Beauty League; 'Lunch' McKenzie retiring from Concordia St. Paul and notes on the Wolves, Twins and Jalen Suggs.
