The story so far: Still stuck in the movie hole, the boys are torn between watching a giallo or a spaghetti western. Also Dan still has a gun for some reason. This week on Stabby Stabby, join the boys as we discuss the 2017 Belgian neo-western arthouse giallo crime thriller Let the Corpses Tan! It's got stunning imagery, amazing sound design, hundreds of pounds of gold bars, and bodily fluids of all sorts! While we try our best to hash out the plot, we get a little distracted talking about visualizing fantasy, BDSM fishing and whether style-over-substance really applies here. Also we need to get rid of this gun. So that happens at the end. Not to spoil anything but, well, you'll see.Leave us a 30 second voicemail and if we like it we'll play it on the show: (949) 4-STABBY (949-478-2229)Next movie announced every Wednesday. This week we decided to go with a straightforward episode. We have a little bit of movie news and we talk about two movies. And we finally make a decision about our long running giveaway. In just two weeks, we will announce the winner of original horror art, a t-shirt from Public House 28 Brewery, and a number of horror movies. We know we just spoke about Tom Cruise a few weeks back and yes, that conversation went on for longer than it needed to. But how could we ignore that Top Gun: Maverick just made over $1 billion? We also talk about the star quality of Cruise and how there is no modern comparison. We love madcap whounits. We  drove a quote from Knives Out into the ground and dreamed of making a stage production of 1985's Clue. Recent years have seen a return of these types of movies and we talk about the trailer from the latest. See How They Run has a cast that includes Saoirse Ronan, Adrian Brody, and Sam Rockwell in a murder mystery set around a  West End play.Rubikon starts off like many other science fiction movies. It is set in the future, pollution has covered the globe, and corporation run everything. It also looks great. Few indie sci-fi movies look near as good as it. What drives the film are its characters and the story. We talk about a pretty straightforward film that still manages to be confusing.Early on, it seems like Let the Corpses Tan is content to concentrate on an amazing title and its stylish look. Part Weird West, part heist movie, part WTF, the film will not be for everyone. It is easily one of the most memorable things we have seen this year, and not always for the best reason. We the meaning of nude women covered in gold, a day long violent shootout, and how to make people care for characters that are only given a little bit of time.Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. The country is struggling right now. There is nothing that we can say that will make things better or heal those in pain. Taking action is a step forward. Listening to podcasts is not a priority. However, we believe that decompressing is vital to eliminating the negativity that many face. Perhaps that is precisely when a new episode would help. The Filmed Obscura boys watched some more obscure genre fare and rambled on for your entertainment. First up is the Belgium film Let the Corpses Tan. It's fantastic and "arthouse" galore. Next is the Australian thriller movie known as The Horseman. For revenge movie fans and people who like bleak cinema, this is right up your alley. Stay safe and aware everybody. Eric and I have almost made it to our destination - the Chattanooga Film Festival, 2019!! Our next stop along the way is our recap of CFF 2018! And while there have been amazing moments that I will never forget from each of the years that I've attended CFF, 2018 might have been the best year yet! With so much awesomeness to talk about, this episode is a bit longer than the episodes covering CFF 2016 and 2017. Even though this was a longer episode, we still weren't able to cover EVERY film that I saw in 2018. So, once again, we restricted the films that we focused on using the following criteria: 1) they are movies that I saw during the film festival that year, 2) they are movies that are available online (Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.), 3) they are movies that represented the experience of the film fest, rather than just being a good movie (there are some movies that are great movies, but you could get roughly the same experience seeing them in any movie theater...and there are other movies that might not necessarily be as "good," but it will be an experience that you are not likely to have outside of a film festival). With those criteria in mind, the films from 2018 that are covered in tonight's episode are: A Prayer Before Dawn, Lowlife, Let the Corpses Tan, Ghost Stories, All the Creatures Were Stirring, and The Ranger, along with some brief highlights about Wolfman's Got Nards, Summer of '84, Tigers are Not Afraid, Dementia: Part II, and my interview with Matt Mercer, Graham Skipper, and Kevin Sluder. We end the episode by discussing the second wave of films announced for CFF 2019*!! *We recorded this episode a few days ago, but weren't able to get it posted until tonight. When discussing the 2nd wave of films, we talk about not being sure if this is the 2nd of many waves, or if it was the 2nd half of two parts (it's the later). We also talk about not being sure when the schedule will be released. The schedule is now posted on the CFF website. For tickets or more information (including complete lists of films screened each year) go to chattfilmfest.org - and be sure to follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter to stay up to date on announcements for CFF 2019. And be sure to come back soon for more cinematic discussions on The Gargyle Podcast!! Up next, we continue our CFF 2019 pre-coverage with a very special guest. Even after earning a degree in Poultry Science, Brock LaBorde knew that more was in store for his life. He shares his storied formative years with the boys along with how his relationship with the mysterious Tommy Wiseau began. In the intro, Randy and Clark decided to not Let the Corpses Tan but rather go have a good Slice. (It will make sense, I swear) Russell went to the Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival and proceeds to discuss no less than 326 films he saw in 5 days. The Passion of the Christ: Ressurection". Außerdem schauen wir uns ein paar Trailer und Poster an, lösen eine Verlosung auf, jubeln "Stark - The Dark Half" unter die Leute und lassen die Fantasy Filmfest White Nights Revue passieren. Unter anderem mit "The Endless", "A Beautiful Day", "Let the Corpses Tan" und "Ghost Stories". Kurzum: Reviews, Reports und Reibereien. Plus viel Liebe für Euch und das Kino allgemein. Eben typisch Kinoplus.

Scheduling lately has been rough as summer winds down and school is starting and film festivals and then of course hurricanes. But we managed to pull something together with the help of our friend Darren Aronofsky and his mother! The aforementioned hurricanes actually help to facilitate a trip through TIFF that otherwise wasn’t going to happen; so there’re lots of titles there to get through from Bruckner to Zahler. Andrew has been playing catch-up on some bullshit titles of the last year or so as well as going back to earlier Fincher as refresher. Lastly, Twin Peaks Season 3 The Return has wrapped up and Kurt has a number of things to discuss about that little slice of mayhem. Lots to dig into this week folks, and we’re starting with the book of Genesis. So stick this in your ear and settle in. As always, please join the conversation by leaving your own thoughts in the comment section below and again, thanks for listening!
