Nicholas Griffin is the author of a Year of Dangerous Days. Miami was not the beautiful and successful metropolitan city that it is now 45 years ago. I want to find out from Nick why the Columbians used Miami as their US entry point for distributing cocaine and why that resulted in so much violence. The Next 70 Dangerous Days. Eric Metaxas Talks to Naomi Wolf. The Eric Metaxas Show Naomi Wolf Nov 12 2024 Other Episodes Naomi Wolf joins the program to discuss life post election. Book Mentioned- The Pfizer Papers: Pfizer's Crimes Against Humanity by The WarRoom/DailyClout Pfizer Documents Analysts (Author), & 3 more The Pfizer Papers features new reports written by WarRoom/DailyClout research volunteers, which are based on the primary source Pfizer clinical trial documents released under court order and on related medical literature. The book shows in high relief that Pfizer's mRNA COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial was deeply flawed and that the pharmaceutical company knew by November 2020 that its vaccine was neither safe nor effective. The reports detail vaccine-induced harms throughout the human body, including to the reproductive system; show that women suffer vaccine-related adverse events at a 3:1 ratio; expose that vaccine-induced myocarditis is not rare, mild, or transient; and, shockingly, demonstrate that the mRNA vaccines have created a new category of multi-system, multi-organ disease, which is being called “CoVax Disease.” Despite the fact that Pfizer committed in its own clinical trial protocol to follow the placebo arm of its trial for twenty-four months, Pfizer vaccinated approximately 95 percent of placebo recipients by March 2021, thus eliminating the trial's control group and making it impossible for comparative safety determinations to be made. Just as importantly, The Pfizer Papers makes it clear that the US Food and Drug Administration knew about the shortfalls of Pfizer's clinical trial as well as the harms caused by the company's mRNA COVID vaccine product, thus highlighting the FDA's abject failure to fulfill its mission to “[protect] the public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, and medical devices.” The Pfizer Papers offers an in-depth look at how Big Pharma, the US government, and healthcare entities stand protected behind the broad legal immunity provided by the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act (PREP Act) when creating, prescribing, and administering vaccines; and, under that shield of protection, do what is best for their bottom lines rather than for the health and well-being of Americans. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out our ACU Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/ACUPodcast HELP ACU SPREAD THE WORD! 2 Timothy 3:1-9 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In 1 Timothy 3, Paul warns his young protégé about the danger of living in the last days. The church has a target on it, because the Devil would like nothing more than to undermine what Christ is building. Our text indicates that there are dangerous people one who have disordered affections, religious duplicity, hijacking intent, and oppositional defiance. They want to erode the faith and destroy the church. So, Paul tells true followers of Christ to avoid such people and set their hope in God. He wins in the end. Praise to his name!

Let's get properly nerdy. This week, we're talking about his third album Dangerous Days and in this bumper episode we don't only talk about his the dark, sugar rush of his music, but we also talk about the history of synthwave, his place in cybergoth and cyberpunk culture, video games and much more. For the uninitiated, Perturbator is an acclaimed French synthwave musician and producer whose works have been featured in video games and films. His whole catalogue of music is marked by dark and futuristic soundscapes, exploring topics such as cybernetics, robotics, and dystopian societies. Dangerous Days, released in 2014, is Perturbator's third full-length album, and it continues in the vein of his earlier works. The album is a journey into the darkest corners of cyberpunk, cybergoth and synthwave music. In what can only be described as a relentless barrage of power synths, augmented with the occasional vocal track, highlights include “Death Squad” and “Dangerous Days” feature huge, booming synths and relentless drums that evoke a sense of urgency and danger. Other tracks, such as “Future Club” and “Hard Wired”, are more mellow and atmospheric, creating moods that are perfect for a night of cyberpunk partying. Synthwave itself is something of a niche subculture, and Perturbator's fame is (by his own admission) built upon being included in various game soundtracks, most notably the Hotline Miami series. In this episode we chat about his influence, some of his contemporaries and of course, give his entire catalogue the once over. Come with us on a journey to explore the depths of cyberpunk and synthwave culture.
In the third episode of our series on the Cuban Missile Crisis, we chart the first phase of the Cold War standoff. Elinor Evans speaks to expert historians Alex von Tunzelmann, Mark White and William Taubman to uncover how top-secret meetings descended into chaos, the American public was plunged into panic and a US naval ‘quarantine' threatened to push the Soviets to the brink. Darrell Castle talks about the end of the unipolar world that has existed since 1991. American Foreign Policy seems to have brought about the rebirth of the cold war as the world is dividing into different camps or choosing sides in the old game of world domination politics. Transcription / Notes DANGEROUS DAYS Hello this is Darrell Castle with today's Castle Report. This is Friday June 24th in the year of our Lord 2022, and I will be talking about the end of the unipolar world that has existed since 1991. American Foreign Policy seems to have brought about the rebirth of the cold war as the world is dividing into different camps or choosing sides in this old game of world domination politics. The weapon the U.S. uses in this cold war is economic sanctions which tend to weaken the U.S. and strengthen its adversaries. A second title to this Report could be bad governance but I'm trying to be kind, so I gave it the title of the results of bad governance. The Biden Administration just announced that it is sending $1 billion more in weapons to Ukraine for 18 more Howitzers, more long-range missiles for long range rocket systems as well as Harpoon anti-ship missiles. These are weapons whose only purpose can be to strike at Russia's Black Sea fleet. The Russians seem to be intercepting and destroying much of the shipments as they cross the borders into Ukraine so less and less are effective. The weapons shipments need no further Congressional approval since congress has already signed off on $40 billion which leaves the choice of weapons with the President or those of his choosing. This brings the total to something like $56 billion and climbing so the question becomes how much is enough, $60-$70 billion perhaps. It is apparently very expensive to weaken Russia as Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin told us was the real purpose. So, we play this cold war game as we fight a losing proxy war against Russia in Ukraine while conditions here in America are deteriorating rapidly. I call that bad governance. People are suffering but this American President seems incapable of caring or even noticing. Gas prices above $5 per gallon on average nationwide. The cost of basic food necessities soaring all of which destroys real wages of the American people. Crime rates including murder are also soaring out of control, and all taken together looks very bad. The people see the 10's of billions being poured down the ratholes in Ukraine and they must be wondering what about us. Almost daily the administration seems to find new ways of provoking a nuclear confrontation with Russia. The latest is a blockade of materials through Lithuania to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad which is a small sliver of land and people between EU and NATO members Poland and Lithuania. Supplies from Russia come through rail lines and gas pipelines. Lithuania announced that it was banning rail transport of goods subject to EU sanctions which includes coal, metals, construction materials and technology, or about 50% of all goods, but not food according to the Lithuanians. The Russians demanded an immediate lift of the ban or else. Or else what? The Russian statement reads like this, “If in the near future cargo transit between the Kaliningrad region and the rest of the territory of the Russian Federation through Lithuania is not restored in full, then Russia reserves the right to take actions to protect its national interests.” The usual diplomatic protests were delivered as well as a statement that the ban was a violation of Lithuania's international legal obligations. Russia also stated that it considers the action to be “openly hostile.” The action by Lithuania to provoke a nuclear armed country with which it shares a border is a serious matter with potentially dire consequences. The Foreign Minister of Lithuania said they were simply complying with sanctions imposed by the EU, and that they were taken after consultation with the European Commission and under its guidel...

Matt Crawford speaks with author Nicholas Griffin about his book The Year of Dangerous Days. This is a frenetically paced story capturing one pivotal year in the history of Miami. 1980 would prove to be a foundational year that the current city and its future still rest on today. Jimmy Carter, Fidel Castro, Janet Reno, Edna Buchanan, Mayor Ferre are just a few of the players in this story. Then of course you have racial unrest and riots, 120,000 Cuban refugees, 150 percent murder rate increases and billions in drug money. I dare you to try and put this book down.
For Episode 18 I spoke again to the director of Dangerous Days (the amazing Blade Runner documentary), Charles de Lauzirika and also Bruce Wright who works for Disney Animation. But more importantly for this episode, Bruce was at the legendary Workprint screening of Blade Runner at the Fairfax Theatre in May 1990.The Workprint is important in Blade Runner Lore because it was that very screening that snowballed to the extent that the true Directors' Cut got released, ultimately culminating in the release of the The Final Cut in 2007. Which is considered the definitive cut of the movie.Really this is a conversation about how releasing the multiple versions of a movie really gives us a wonderful, iterative history of filmmaking, through the films we love.As mentioned in my intro - The Ivor Powell documentary can be found here - https://vimeo.com/410802693Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/jamiebenning)

It's the inaugural episode of The Salt Circle Book Club and this week the fates have decreed that we read and talk about The Dangerous Days of Daniel X. If you, like Ben, are wondering why, don't worry Hank opens the episode with an explanation. This is a remarkably bad book, and a series that is much darker than it seems to realize. Email: SaltCirclePodcast@gmail.com Twitter: @SaltCirclePod Hank's Twitter: @ComicPanels Ben's Twitter: @Bean_LP Logo Artist: bellamy.world/
Hank prepared a list of first issues of comic books for Ben to read and he went through all of them. It’s a diverse spread, a little heavy on Marvel stuff, of comics that came out from 2007 to 2016. This is an episode where we’re both diving fully in and not actually going that deep on any particular thing as we blow through 16 different single issues. They’re all accessible jumping on points so even if you haven’t read any of these comics yourself this episode shouldn’t be impenetrable. These are the comics we read: Action Comics 855 (2007) Adventure Time 1 (2012) Afterlife with Archie 1 (2013) Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine 1 of 6 (2010) Avatar – The Last Airbender – The Promise Part 1 (2012) Captain America 1 (2013) Detective Comics 826 (2007) Edge of Spider-Verse 02 (2014) Hawkeye 1 (2012) Joe the Barbarian 1 of 8 (2010) Journey into Mystery 622 (2011) Klaus 1 (2015) She-Hulk 1 (2014) The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl 1 (2015) The Unbelievable Gwenpool 1 (2016) Wolvering & The X-Men 1 (2011) ALSO: We are announcing the start of The Salt Circle Book Club. At the start of every month going forward we are going to choose a book to read and then the last episode of that month will be on that book, so you can read along with us if you like. First up is, The Dangerous Days of Daniel X, a bad book that should lead to a fun episode because it is also fucked up in ways it doesn’t realize. This week our District Superintendent, Pastor Ken Draughon, speaks to us about how to live a courageous, dynamic life in these dangerous days.

Now Playing Network Master of Ceremonies (and Director's Club founder) Jim Laczkowski joins us for this episode which has us looking at the films of French Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve! With Jim's help, we look at how Villeneuve brings his unique combination of thoughtfulness, pathos, family focus, and strangeness to dramas, genre thrillers, and films across the sci-fi spectrum. Includes lots of spiders and one talking fish. 14:23 "August 32nd on Earth" / "Maelstrom" ("Fish Heads", Barnes & Barnes) 24:26 "Polytechnique" ("Straws Pulled At Random", Meshuggah) 37:06 "Incendies" ("You And Whose Army?", Radiohead) 1:00:14 "Prisoners" ("The Prisoner", Iron Maiden) 1:20:49 "Enemy" ("Know Your Enemy", Rage Against the Machine) 1:41:29 "Sicario" ("Perro Negro Granjero", Molotov) 2:00:08 "Arrival" ("Communication Breakdown", Led Zeppelin) 2:18:20 "Blade Runner 2049" ("Dangerous Days", Pertubator)
Gage sets up a Tinder profile, Layne slanders Princess Di, and Sam reads from the 2001 Clear Channel Memo. We also discuss the disappointing state of the Rick & Morty fandom, Jeffrey Dahmer, Scholastic Book Fairs, and our upcoming film "Dangerous Days." Send your emails to saltmineradio@gmail.com.
With Layne in the corner taking an old man nap, Gage and Sam brainstorm the plot for their new 5 minute movie. Between 2004 and 2016, Paul Greengrass directed a total of six movies. Four of those have Matt Damon in them. Three of them are about the fictitious Jason Bourne character. Two of them are based on a true story. Today, we're going to be looking at one of those movies. In an effort to make 2013's Captain Phillips as authentic as possible, Paul Greengrass kept two groups of actors separate. One group had Tom Hanks playing the man the movie is named after, Captain Rich Phillips. In the other group were the actors portraying the Somali pirates. These two groups of actors never met until their roles on set together. In an interview after the film was released, Tom Hanks explained, "We were kept separate for all that time. We could see guys that looked like they were Somalis but we didn't know who was who until they came roaring into us the day that we were shooting the scene where they were taking over the bridge of the ship." Despite attempts at making the film as realistic as possible by doing things like keeping the actors separate, after Captain Phillips was released, many of the crewmen claimed the movie didn't accurately depict what happened. With a budget of $55 million, Captain Phillips made about half that on opening weekend on its way to a profitable $107 million in theaters. It was also nominated for six Oscars, and while it didn't end up winning at the Academy Awards, much of the movie's success can be attributed to the amazingly intense way the film portrays the situation. It seems so real. But is it?
