Continuing this year's music project, we go nuclear about Andrew's favorite Linkin Park album. The quasi-concept project deals with war, oppression, destruction, and rebirth, and includes quotes from and references to Lauryn Hill, JR Oppenheimer, the Notorious B.I.G., Martin Luther King, jr, and even Mario Savio.Today's root beer is Old Red Eye.Intro and Outro music by Stockmusic331 on Pond5Send us a text
Linkin Park's third album arrived after delays and side projects from members of the band, but arrived with “honed, metallic pop with a hip hop stride and a wake-up kick”.“Minutes” is a roller coaster of emotion, including vicious anger, political rants, forlorn musings on lost love, and a heartbreaking final request that came to pass far too soon.Today's root beer is Boot's Sarsaparilla. We begin this year continuing our year-long project to listen to and review every Linkin Park album. Next up: Meteora. A second album can (should?) be a deciding factor in whether a band is a one-trick pony or a force to be reckoned with, and Meteora proved that Linkin Park were going to continue being a tour-de-force.Today's…. uh…. “root beer” is Sun Sip. Unfortunately. Intro and Outro music by Stockmusic331 on Pond5Send us a text
Linkin Park's first album perfectly showcases their sound and dynamic as Nu Metal/Rap and would go on to be the best selling inaugural album of the 21st century. Today's root beer is Henry Weinhard's again.Intro and Outro music by Stockmusic331 on Pond5Send us a text

The band's current lineup consists of vocalist/rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Mike Shinoda, lead guitarist Brad Delson, DJ/turntablist Joe Hahn, bassist Dave Farrell, co-lead vocalist Emily Armstrong, and drummer Colin Brittain. The lineup for the band's first seven studio albums included lead vocalist Chester Bennington and drummer Rob Bourdon; following Bennington's suicide in July 2017, the band entered an indefinite hiatus. In September 2024, Linkin Park's reformation was announced along with the addition of Armstrong and Brittain.Categorized mainly as alternative rock and nu metal, Linkin Park's earlier music spanned a fusion of heavy metal and hip hop, while their later music features more electronica and pop elements. Linkin Park rose to international fame with their debut studio album, Hybrid Theory (2000), which became certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Released during the peak of the nu metal scene, the album's singles' heavy airplay on MTV led to the singles "One Step Closer", "Crawling", and "In the End" all charting highly on the US Mainstream Rock chart. The lattermost also crossed over to the number two spot on the nation's Billboard Hot 100. Their second album, Meteora (2003), continued the band's success. The band explored experimental sounds on their third album, Minutes to Midnight (2007). By the end of the decade, Linkin Park was among the most successful and popular rock acts. The band continued to explore a wider variation of musical types on their fourth album, A Thousand Suns (2010), layering their music with more electronic sounds. The band's fifth album, Living Things (2012), combined musical elements from all of their previous records. Their sixth album, The Hunting Party (2014), returned to a heavier rock sound, while their seventh album, One More Light (2017), was a substantially more pop-oriented record. They have won two Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards, and three World Music Awards. In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth-greatest band of the music video era and the third-best of the new millennium. Billboard ranked Linkin Park No. 19 on the Best Artists of the Decade list. Linkin Park is an American rock band from Agoura Hills, California. The band's current lineup comprises vocalist/rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Mike Shinoda, lead guitarist Brad Delson, bassist Dave Farrell, DJ/turntablist Joe Hahn and drummer Rob Bourdon, all of whom are founding members. Vocalists Mark Wakefield and Chester Bennington are former members of the band. Categorized as alternative rock, Linkin Park's earlier music spanned a fusion of heavy metal and hip hop, while their later music features more electronica and pop elements.Formed in 1996, Linkin Park rose to international fame with their debut studio album, Hybrid Theory (2000), which became certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The band's fifth album, Living Things (2012), combined musical elements from all of their previous records. Their sixth album, The Hunting Party (2014), returned to a heavier rock sound, and their seventh album, One More Light (2017), was their first pop-oriented record. Linkin Park went on a hiatus when longtime lead vocalist Bennington died by suicide in July 2017. In April 2022, Shinoda revealed the band was neither working on new music nor planning on touring for the foreseeable future.Linkin Park is among the best-selling bands of the 21st century and the world's best-selling music artists, having sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have won two Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards and three World Music Awards. Over the span of nearly two decades, Linkin Park would release 7-studio albums, 5-live albums, 2-compilations, 2-remix albums, 3-soundtracks, and 10-Eps, moving a combined total of 100 million units. So yeah, Linkin Park was most definitely a force in the music industry. Despite having accomplished so much, vocalist-and-rhythm guitarist Mike Shinoda, lead guitarist Brad Delson, bassist Dave Farrell, DJ Joe Hahn, and drummer Rob Bourdon would find themselves without their friend and front-man, Chester Bennington, after he took his own life in 2017. Everyone was devastated over his loss and for the next four years, the band would enter a hiatus that they're only just emerging from now. Want to learn what the future holds for Linkin Park? Then keep watching Where Are They Now!
